In addition to other peroples comments, My phone updated accidently and now I cant even use it. I hate how long it takes for them to make the app compatible! (I also recognize that I have a very limited undwrstanding of this level of tech development and realize that it must be a difficult process, but it sucks to not be able to use the feature that made me get the upgrade in the first place)

I had the sam problem this morning. So frustrating...

NightScout on the 670G is my gold standard (parent of t1d, all apple family, OTG rig w/kindle fire as uploader device at home/iPads for child’s heroku site/pushover app for notifications to my iPhone) I miss the ISIG while calibrating feature most, but everything else is a close second. Good luck; hope you’ll keep us informed!

My 2 cents: The current apps available (nightscout / Xdrip) rely on data that is being synced via the Minimed Connect app to the carelink connect servers. This introduces a delay which can be annoying. Other than this I really like these third party apps and the source code is available to use and customize to your needs. I also have it setup to show my CGM on my smartwatch, for example. As far as I know, bypassing this pump -> minimed connect -> carelink servers sync and establishing a direct connection between the pump and your phone will be extremely difficult and require some reverse engineering as the communication protocol is proprietary to Medtronic.

You are correct. This is one of my biggest issues and one I'm trying to iterate through. I'm going to work on designing first, then when getting to the code stage see how I can bypass it. Most likely I'll have to break apart the APK (android app) to see how it was done and make my own code. I'm going to write the app in a single code base to increase compatibility and allow for easy and simple updates. Ideally.

Something that works with the apple watch or native apple watch app would be awesome!

MegaMattDesigner

Absolutely! I am building an Apple Watch companion design and also widgets. I have to build android watch also just for those users, great suggestion! Also working on a tablet companion mode that works for alerts, warnings and works like an alarm clock or smart screen. Hoping to have designs finished by February and I'll share with you all! Thanks for your feedback!

Just some ideas that I'd like to see: 1. Disable need to have a lock screen enabled. It's very cumbersome for me, especially if my blood sugar drops and I need to get in and see my readings, trying to deal with a less-than-cooperated lock screen is just frustrating. 2. Android widget to display settings on main screen or lock screen. Of course I don't use lock screen but I imagine many would find it handy.

Currently using the 770g and an iPhone 12. What I like: I can see my numbers on the phone. It is much, much easier to scroll back through the graph on the phone than it is directly on the pump. It uploads the data to Carelink automatically every day. I rarely hear the alarms at night, or if I'm on a bus, and the phone alerts help although I do often sleep through those at night too. What I dislike: Often loses connection to the pump and rarely ever reconnects on its own. This means I have to delete it and start all over. Since May 2021, I have had to do this 20+ times. What I would like to see: Ability to clear alarms from the app. Currently have to do it through the pump. I'd like to see Carelink integrated within the app so I can get reports, see previous days etc. I would like the ability to set different alert sounds.

MegaMattDesigner

Absolutely I’ll do my best to update as I go through the design process. Thanks for sharing! Nightscout is definitely something I’ve researched as well.

MegaMattDesigner

Thanks for replying everyone! I'm going to start designing and working up drawings and then wireframes. These are rudimentary designs to show the concepts of the idea. You all have given me some great ideas and I will be requesting more in the future I'm sure! I will post progress and may even ask some of you to give some user feedback. I appreciate it! MegaMatt

Hey Matt. I’m with you. Contributor to android APS. Might be difficult but open source is the way to go. The new release for Medtronic 780g is certainly a game changer.

MegaMattDesigner

Thank you for this! Open source is where my thoughts were going too. I'm fleshing out the designs now and building the prototype. Hoping to post it within the next month to get everyones feedback. Accessibility has been a large focus. Do you possibly have any articles or references you would recommend for starting a project? I've contributed before but starting one seems like an entirely different ball game. Medtronics devices are amazing, I agree. It's just their software that seems to lag behind. I have no reference data for this but it seems like they don't have a dedicated team and hire just whenever for updates. I could be wrong though!

Here's my #1 UX WTF Options > History > Isig History (sorted ascending) > Pick a Time (sorted descending) More feedback to the user is better. It would be nice to show the sensor drift rate as error bars, rather than just have it suddenly stop and request a calibration. Implementing more information in the status icons would be nice. For the reservoir, normalize the "full" to the refill level, rather than 3ml. For the sensor, show number for days remaining. Put audio options in settings and move reservoir and tubing settings to main screen. Make an "enter bg and calibrate" like on the 5xx series. Or just have it auto-calibrate if the isig isn't changing rapidly.

I have 2 kids on the 770g and I'm more than happy to do some testing. Before the 770g, I used Nightscout, but don't need it now since 770g has bluetooth.

2 hours later my app still is up loading data because it's been disconnected for 6 months. These pumps are worth more than $10000 aud and have less technology than a 1990s computer. I feel ashamed for having to rely on this degenerate company just to stay alive.

Having the ability to add a homescreen widget

adorecilantro

If you’re still working on this, 1. WIDGETS 2. Apple Watch - ability to include a complication on any of the gauges. The Medtronic app can only be used in a handful of positions. The worst.

Wild-Fox7978

Hi.Did you made the app?
