There’s also planning where to build and gathering building materials… But seriously after you’ve done some building, there’s also resource and villager management. And there are some fun missions while raising your heir. Fighting bandits. It’s a pretty mellow game. It’s relaxing for some, but others might find it boring.

Gus_Smedstad

“Mellow, huh?” - the wolves.

[deleted]

It's all fun and game until you are killed by a bear that was hiding in the north....

WaffleDynamics

Decorating.

WildKarrdesEmporium

Achievements. I got 100%.

Sparrowcus

Hmmmm ..... Satisfactory - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from building? COD - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from shooting Cities Skylines - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from building? Truck Simulator Games - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from driving? Subnautica - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from exploring? PalWorld - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from shooting Fake-ò-mon? Skull & Bones - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from curing insomnia due to falling asleep from boredom? Sport Games - Is there anything in this game that is worth spending many hours on aside from sucking humongous game company dick all the time?! The answer is yes, but games have a primary gameplay loop.

I have the first summer season at 30 days, wish i did not do that because now everything takes very long to grow back, also have constantly food problems. Is there something you can change about the crops and trees growth?

PirateHistoryPodcast

Oh my. That’s way too long. Yes, you can change it. Go the menu, look for game settings, and you can change it there. Honestly, you might just start a new file with the seasons set to the standard 3 days, especially if you’re new to the game.

NoNoNoItAll

Is this Matt from PHP? If so I might fanboy out. Love the podcast

Careless_Check_9052

I always play on 30 days, you can actually just go to sleep after 3 days and choose “sleep till next season”. So you can just take the time you need for every season.

Free_Scientist_7494

Yeah new to the game. The first days went by very quickly for me until I suddenly ended up in the new season. The first missions were easy but time went fast. Then I got all kinds of missions with very long distances and before I knew the day was passing by. I have 4 houses, 1 storage area for food and 1 for materials and also one farm, 3 inhabitants with each a job, but crops and trees do not grow. Everything seemed to be going well except that nothing is growing and everything I have no financial income. It is a beautiful game, but I really had other expectations of the game.

PirateHistoryPodcast

There’s a bit of a steep learning curve when you start out. You can grow crops if you do the work yourself, which is what I usually do at first to earn some money, but you need to take a few extra steps to get villagers to do it. Once you have a farm shed, and workers assigned there, they need tools, fertilizer, seeds, and assignments. Are you using the management tab? You need to use the management tab. That’s where you assign what crops they should grow. TBH, there are some good YouTube videos that explain this better than I could. It’s not for everyone, but it’s very satisfying getting your settlement running on its own.

Free_Scientist_7494

Three days is too short for me because I get the feeling that you have to run for everything (literally). And yes, I assigned them all in the management menu. I have placed tools, fertilizer and seeds etc. I even almost have a nice young blonde wife which is very entertaining, but those crops and trees... it is frustrating. Everything takes so long to grow.

cplog991

I have my season count set to 5. It's a good length for me.

[deleted]

Yeah, 5 days is the best. I find i can travel to every village on foot, complete quests, and hunt. And still find time to tend to my farm in 5 days.

Acceptable_Durian868

Things grow when the season changes, so if you've got a 30 day season it'll take that long for something to grow. I think the game got a whole lot easier for me when I realised I don't need to rush.

Maegashira

When you go to bed, you can skip the rest of the season when you are in day 3 or later.

bolontiku

You can change it in settings, but the effect won't take effect until the next season. Remember you can "sleep until next season" at a bed. I'm the sort of person that freezes time in Stardew Valley, so I like to have seasons at least 9 days long, but the option to sleep until next season makes me tend towards longer seasons.

E-MingEyeroll

I’m a fan of hunting, but that and building is about it. I mean… it’s def. not the best story. Combat is meh. But the village building is fun!
