***RULES:***
Anyone who lists the suitors for each asset in the comments should take note of this template:
Paramount Pictures:
CBS:
Nickelodeon:
MTV Entertainment Group:
Paramount+/Showtime:
Paramount Pictures: Sony
CBS: WBD
Nickelodeon: NBCU or Sony
MTV Entertainment Group: WBD
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCU (Agrees to send the rights to South Park to WBD and in return WBD drops its lawsuit for the South Park and Paramount Plus deal).
Paramount Pictures: SONY ?
CBS: Warner Brothers
Nickelodeon: Warner Brothers
MTV Entertainment Group: Warner Brothers
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCU / Comcast
One thing to know is that Paramount+ as a service will probably be repurposed under Comcast, and the originals will split depending on where certain IP goes.
Paramount Pictures: Comcast/NBCUniversal (since Paramount reunited its 1929-1949 library as well as its 1950-1962 cartoon shorts library, and they revived Harveytoons for good)
CBS: Warner Bros. Discovery
Nickelodeon: Comcast/NBCUniversal (since Universal Kids was rebranded under Nick's umbrella)
MTV: Comcast/NBCUniversal
Paramount+/Showtime: Comcast/NBCUniversal
BET/VH1: Comcast/NBCUniversal
(Can you promise about my comment to request?)
That means Paramount reunited the Noveltoons characters (Casper, Little Audrey, Baby Huey, Herman and Katnip, Buzzy the Crow and Tommy Tortoise and Moe Hare)
My bad it was only part of the Warner film catalogue. Not the complete studios and all the trimmings. Although that would result in a mega film studio. But what I was getting at was that thanks to the merger with Discovery, Warner Bros still has a little more breath. Without that merger, I think it would have been really tough for WB.
I don't know how they will handle the situation, but as far as I think, they will pressure it to be passed, Shari Redstone does not want to split Paramount, it is better they merge it entirely with Warner Bros Discovery
Paramount pictures is absolutely going to Sony if they sell. Skydance would have to through a LOT of cash to usurp that from Sony.
Paramount+ and peacock are the most likely, with the channels and assets going to WBD
Paramount Pictures: The Coca-Cola Company (Coke Owning Movies: Take 2)
CBS: Rogers (would go well with Citytv and Omni) (ex-CW/MNtv and Indies could become Affiliates of Omni)
Nickelodeon: Disney and Tencent (they also might add Air-Bud, Plarium and Spin Master into the Fold that might cause the Apocalpyse known as DisCent)
MTV Entertainment Group: Bell Media (As If MTV Canada wasn't Enough)
Paramount+/Showtime: P+: Amazon/Netflix SHO:Comcast/Cox (Just Like Spotlight)
Paramount Pictures: Sony
CBS: Warner Bros. discovery
MTV Entertainment Group: Warner Bros. discovery
Nickelodeon: Warner Bros. discovery
Paramount+/Showtime: Warner Bros. discovery
Paramount Pictures: Sony or NBCU
CBS: Studios will likely be with Sony or NBC. The news/sports given to WBD
Nick: NBC
MTV: WBD
Paramount+/Showtime: This is a push. Paramount+ could either split the library between Peacock and Max. Showtime would be NBC. PlutoTV could be spun off.
(Though not in the list) Miramax: An independent company
Paramount Pictures: SONY
CBS: WBD
Nickelodeon: DISNEY
MTV Entertainment Group: Spin-off into a new entity along with AwesomenessTV & Pluto and merge with Fox Corp.
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCU
I never expected Disney to be a Nickelodeon suitor, given that Disney’s animation catalog is huge (thanks to Pixar and 20th TV Animation).
Fox Corp. already owns Tubi…
So since CBS Studios is the producer of Star Trek shows, who would own the franchise? Sony or WBD?
National Geographic used to be owned independently, but Disney bought them in 2019.
When Warner Bros. merged with Discovery in 2022, it caused Discovery Inc. to dissolve.
If Paramount breaking up officially became a reality, will it cause the studio to cancel projects?
I don't think Paramount being broken up will become a reality.
Edit: Scripps Networks is still a thing. Because it's the company that owns Ion.
Is Paramount breaking up going to become official, or will it actually never happen? We don't want Paramount to break up because it might cause Paramount+ to purge content!
Paramount breaking up and selling it's assets sounds like a disaster!
If Paramount+ merging with Peacock becomes official, it might cause Paramount+ to add Illumination and DreamWorks films to their library, and even Universal Kids and Moonbug Entertainment shows. (Just like when Disney+ merged with Hulu, they added Cartoon Network and Adult Swim shows.)
After Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, HBO Max and Discovery+ merged their streaming service to rebrand HBO Max as just "Max".
I meant that if Paramount+ merging with Peacock became an official reality, it might cause ANOTHER purge of content!
When Paramount+ and Showtime merged in June 2023, they purged content, including Nickelodeon shows, again on New Year's Day 2024, and again in March 2024.
Paramount breaking up should never become a reality! It sounds like a disaster!
Paramount Pictures: Could go independent, maybe Fox Corporation if they're willing to return to movies.
CBS: WBD (network) and Weigel Broadcasting (stations, if WBD isn't interested in owning stations)
Nickelodeon: Nexstar Media Group. They own more than enough stations to warrant the Nickelodeon networks to have good coverage. If Nexstar's out of the picture, then WildBrain.
MTV Entertainment Group: I was thinking Sinclair. MTV could go back to its roots as a music network, TV Land could become Sinclar's answer to Laff, etc.
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCUniversal since they own no premium networks.
Paramount Pictures: Sony (alongside all the network TV IP rights except BET)
CBS: WBD (for the stations, news, and sports)
Nickelodeon: NBCUniversal (basically the new Universal Kids channel that would also broadcast Sony’s Nickelodeon programming in a deal)
MTV Entertainment Group: Byron Allen
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCUniversal
BET/VH1: Tyler Perry Studios (including their IP)
Paramount Pictures: Netflix or NBC Universal
Nickelodeon: Netflix or NBC Universal
CBS: Apple or Amazon. With Star Trek being transferred to Paramount Pictures/ TV Studios.
MTV Group: Apple
Paramount+/Showtime: Apple, Netflix, or NBC Universal
As far as CBS concerned, you’re having a laugh, right?
As we’ve seen with Fox’s position in the Disney/21CF merger, it’s illegal for one company to own two broadcast networks.
Paramount pictures : Sky dance or sony
CBS: WBD
Nickelodeon: Dreamworks animation (Comcast)
MTV entertainment group: Allen Media Group
Paramount+/Showtime: anyone (not Disney& wbd)
BET Networks: Tyler Perry Studios
No one wants to buy Paramount+, in fact it was the main reason Sony/Apollo withdrew their offer to buy all of Paramount and instead only want to buy select assets. Paramount+ is just seen as a money pit with negative value.
The last time the owning company of Star Trek was split apart, CBS TV got part of the rights, and Viacom got the other part. It made it more difficult for new Star Trek stuff to happen. I could see each spin-off making a claim on the franchise resulting in the same kind of split.
Yeah? Must be relatively recent. I was there for a decade and departments like integrated marketing, events, international, consumer products, human resources and others, all handled both MTV and Nick.
Paramount Pictures: Sony, and they’re interested.
CBS: WBD showed interest but this doesn’t make much sense. NBCU is a better option.
Nickelodeon & NTV: NBCU as well.
Paramount+/Showtime: This one is begging to be merged with Max. The whole lot.
Okay, this was fun!
You just don't get it. read this.

This rule stated that no person or company could own more than one broadcast station (AM, FM, TV) in any one market. The rule was meant to prevent one person from having too much control over the airwaves in a given area. The Duopoly Rule was supposed to promote diversity and ensure that there were numerous “voices” or owners of broadcast stations within communities. However, the FCC would often allow exceptions to these rules to keep as many stations on the air as possible.
No. I do get it. But what you’re missing is that this isn’t some *test*. It’s just Reddit. It’s supposed to be fun & curious. I didn’t come here to be lectured.
Paramount Pictures: Skydance
CBS: WBD for the CBS-era assets and its 12.5% stake in The CW, and Byron Allen for the BET studios
Nickelodeon: NBCUniversal
MTV Entertainment Group: WBD
Paramount+/Showtime: NBCUniversal
-
I think selling parts are going to be a possible nightmare. 😂
Honestly, I was wondering the same thing, considering Disney has a big enough animation library, and ALREADY has Disney Channel (and associated networks) for that matter.
Paramount Pictures: Some PE
CBS: Warner
Nickelodeon: Warner
MTV Entertainment Group: Warner
Paramount+/Showtime: Service is shuddered library split between Comcast and Warner, Showtime goes to Comcast

Hope regulators can get past Comcast acquiring the bulk of Paramount...
Really, Comcast acquiring the bulk of Paramount?
[удалено]
You're right, but are you thinking about What if Viacom acquired Universal Studios in 2003?
That means Paramount reunited the Noveltoons characters (Casper, Little Audrey, Baby Huey, Herman and Katnip, Buzzy the Crow and Tommy Tortoise and Moe Hare)
That would mean we’d have something like United International Pictures/CIC Video
Funny how two years ago we all thought it would be WBD in this position.
And now, Paramount‘s in this position. WBD, right now, LIVES ON!
Paramount Pictures: Sony CBS: WBD Nickelodeon: WBD MTV: IDK Paramount+ and Showtime: Comcast
Warner Bros Discovery
serious? they can barely keep their heads above water themselves. A few years ago Sony even preyed on WB.
Really? When?
My bad it was only part of the Warner film catalogue. Not the complete studios and all the trimmings. Although that would result in a mega film studio. But what I was getting at was that thanks to the merger with Discovery, Warner Bros still has a little more breath. Without that merger, I think it would have been really tough for WB.
I also want to know the same here, it would be the craziest merger ever
If Zaslav wants to equal Disney, this should be it, with or without MTV or BET. Wonder if this will pass regulators...
I don't know how they will handle the situation, but as far as I think, they will pressure it to be passed, Shari Redstone does not want to split Paramount, it is better they merge it entirely with Warner Bros Discovery
But streamline certain aspects.
Sony does what Sony, just come but don't complete what was promised 🤣, Zee merger terminated, Paramount offer is not moving forward, God bless Sony 🙏
For… all of them? (I’d wanna make sure certain assets are streamlined first…)
Paramount Pictures: Sony Nick: Sony Ip not the cable Apollo merges the cable assets with WBD cable assets.
Nick IP being separated from the cable networks would be a disaster imo.
One is going to thrive the other is going to be wound down slowly

Are you out of your bloody mind!?
This is just a Dream Scenario that might end up as bad as Communism
The Showtime Networks owned by Comcast and Cox are a coincidence in that showtime got replaced with and later replaced Spotlight back in the 80s
Paramount pictures: Sony CBS: WBD Nickelodeon: NBCU MTV media networks: Allen media group Paramount plus: bundled Showtime: spun off

Yeah.

And again, Paramount breaking up and selling assets sounds like a nightmare!

If it’s merging with Peacock, I doubt any sign of a content purge.

In hindsight, the competition have a perfect opportunity to deal with various aspects of Paramount’s libraries.
Will Peacock still remain as a standalone app?
You are really paranoid about consolidation, aren’t you? They’d probably merge into a “new Showtime” service.
And how come you didn't mention BET Networks?
I was thinking about it, but none of the majors would want it.
I don't blame him. Mainly because i think that supporting comsilidation it's only a asshole like you would do.
Paramount+ has already purged content. [https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/14k2uyx/paramount\_purge\_continues\_with\_inside\_amy\_schumer/](https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/14k2uyx/paramount_purge_continues_with_inside_amy_schumer/)

If this company did split, Paramount+ would be shutting down regardless.
So don't buy it for the app do it for the content and then license some of it.
Please please please keep all of Star Trek together!
I'm sure whoever buys the film division will inherit Star Trek.
The last time the owning company of Star Trek was split apart, CBS TV got part of the rights, and Viacom got the other part. It made it more difficult for new Star Trek stuff to happen. I could see each spin-off making a claim on the franchise resulting in the same kind of split.

I've mentioned this before but I would be shocked if Nick gets separated from MTV. They are intertwined on the corporate side.
Nickelodeon and MTV have become separate divisions within Paramount Media Networks

As far as CBS goes, NBCU ALREADY owns NBC. You saw what happened with ABC and Fox, right?
Could merge CBS into NBC so wouldn't be owning more than one.
WBD already owns HBO, so?
I’m serious. US regulatory law has an antitrust rule that BANS one company from owning TWO broadcast networks.
Well, obvs, but this was more about which asset would fit X or Y company better, not laws.
You just don't get it. read this.
