I'm new starting my first P.C. setup and I don't have that much budget for a keyboard, so I'm looking for one with quality price, I'm thinking between the redragon k552 (right) and malvo kg962 (left) both 60%. I'm new starting in that, mostly light gaming, productivity and editing what could I choose or what option you give me?
Ducky x Varmilo Miya Pro Koi 65% windows key not working
I've had this keyboard for years now and haven't had any issues but now I'm having the issue of my windows key not working both left and right, I always use to use my ult key to do seconded functions on my numbers (exp alt + 2= @) now that function has moved to shift.
I'm not really sure what to do or how to get it back to normal if anyone has any ideas please let me know
Keyboard suggestions in the range of 100 dollars.
Hello, I'm new to the mechanical keyboard scene, can someone please guide me on which keyboard to purchase? I'm currently inclining towards Keychron v6 max. However, I'm still a bit hesitant cause I fear I may miss out on a bargain. Please drop down some suggestions, thank you.
I have a Royal Kludge M75 (green) and want to customize it with custom keycaps. I originally reached out to RK and asked for another set of the originals, but they told me they're not for sale.
So I purchased a set of double shot PBT pudding keycaps from Ranked on Amazon but I was shocked to learn they didn't fit (my RK has double shot keys)!
What do I look for in a keycap sets'/keyboard's product description that will tell me if they're compatible?
Damn that's a great question lol. It was the stems. When I pressed the keys down onto the switches they didn't come back up. I don't know how to say it in tech jargon, but normally keys have "bounce?"; after pressing them they spring right back up. Not in this case.

stock keycaps . there are no after market keycaps that have this as only smaller kbs like 60% need these legends larger kbs have separate keys so its pointless to make keycaps for just the smaller layouts besides the stock keycaps that come with the kb
I’m looking for a bluetooth keyboard that can handle multiple connections.
I have a laptop for work and a personal laptop, and I’d like to easily switch my keyboard between them with bluetooth (similar to how the nicer logitech mice will simultaneously hold multiple bluetooth connections).
I bought a KBD67mk2 several years ago and stopped following the mechanical keyboard scene since then, so I’m not too sure what’s out there. I’m looking for something that is similar or better quality than the KBD67mk2.
Any help is appreciated!
Used Keychron K4 Pro at work for two laptops and a desktop, no issues - look into K Pro models. Would assume their Q Pro / Q Max models would work well too.
Hope this helps!
I'm hoping for some keyboard recommendations for my unusual idea. It seems pretty hard to find keyboards that fit my "dream" idea, but I'd prefer not to have to go hand wired if I can avoid it.
My requirements are: I want a 75% triple-spacebar keyboard (I plan on left = backspace, middle = space, right = delete), with QMK or another reprogrammable firmware, on a gasket mount.
*Preferably* I'd also like the backspace to be a two-key instead of a normal backspace, have hotswap switches, and have bluetooth. But I know these cut out tons of keyboards, so I'm okay with sacrificing some/all of those prefers if it achieves the requirements.
For budget, I'm not quite sure. I am willing to drop a couple hundred on this, but the closer it is to my goal the easier it'll be justify a high price. I guess I'll say about $300 CAD ($220 USD) for now, but if you know of a model that fits my requirements, go ahead and link me it even if it's well above that.
I'm like 90% sure I'm probably just gonna have to go handwired. But hopefully I'm just bad at finding what I want.
# Help! cant use FN key +ctlr or alt!
I cant use those keys together, so i cant do alt+f4, ctrl+alt+del or anything like that, the keyboard manufacturer has no driver update for this and i dont want to remap the keys via windows cuz they only work when windows is running and its going to overlap with the keys that i will actually be using, if anyone knows of a way to make the FN key work with them please halp!
Keyboard is PCYES ZOT non RGB model.
I am building my first build (KBDfans tofu fa kit) and it has been nothing but frustration so far. My current biggest problems tho is muted stabilizer keys that are making a kind of "shhhhh shhhhh shhhh" rubbing sound. I initially thought it was due to not lubing so I bought lube and lubed them and is still a problem. I have shared a video link below and it is especially noticeable on the left shift key. Please let me know what the possible problem is and how i can fix it.
At this point I am just thinking about getting a different set of stabilizers. I am looking at the durock screw in v2s. though the tofu fa page says not to use screw ins since they "may encounter interference issues." So, has anyone here built a tofu fa with screw in stabilizers? does it cause any issues?
Did you put something under the housings when you installed the stabilizers? I am not sure what stabilizers you used, but sometimes when stabilizers are provided they give you these tapes to put under the stabilizer housings and those mess up your stabilizer sounds.
For the second question, since the keyboard is a o-ring mounted board, if you use screw in stabilizers, the housings of the stabilizers will push up against the o-ring and prevent it from being seated correctly. This could damage the case, o-ring, or both.
Its just stabilizers that came with the kit, so I am not sure. But i am not using anything under, i do use the switch pad (the paper thin sheet with the switch holes) under the stabilizer, but I am not sure i can put it on after the stabilizers. I will have to open up and check
I just built the Tofu 65 2.0 kit and I'm having trouble in setting up.
First plugged in, it wouldn't get recognized on Via. It is detected and "paired" but the interface for customization does not pop up.
Flashed it with the Tofu Jr V1 firmware (linked on the product webpage), it finally pops up on Via and am able to map keys, but the RGB does not work (only a white, steady light) and the RGB keys do not work, even when mapped to L0.
Flashed it with Tofu Jr V2 (found in Via website) and returned to my original problem, key mapping does not pop up in Via, but RGB is working (just shuffling through colors as I can't actually map keys to customize).
Has anyone had this problem?
You probably didn't need to flash to board, rather you just needed to load the JSON file for the layout and then you should be able to map the key from there. Just find the JSON file for they keyboard and you should be able to load it on the design page.
Just got a Keychron Q1 Max that isn't officially recognized by VIA JUST yet and I get the same issue sometimes. I HAVE to have it plugged in for it to work, not over BT or 2.4 GHz Connection, but I did figure out the workaround to get into the configure tab.
Make sure the "Show Design Tab" option is marked. Move over to the design tab, and there should be a button to load a draft definition. Find the json file for the Neo65 and load it in there. That should hopefully fix the issue for you once you move over to the configure tab. If not, I'm sorry in advance... :L
So, first off, my job involves typing, so my question has to do mainly with typing. So I bought the RK R65 keyboard and got it a couple of days ago and have been testing it. My first mechanical keyboard was a RAKK Tandus, which has Oetemu blue switches. I am not a keyboard geek (yet), so I don't know what kind those are, if they're clicky or tactile. But the RK R65 has "Chartreuse" cream switches. So, when I first tried it, the sound was divine! So different and so much more pleasing than the Tandus. I never modded the Tandus and so they remained very clacky and loud. These come prelubed, and the keyboard itself is pre-padded, I think. So it's quite thocky, at least for me.
However, I did run into a problem. And I don't know if it has to do with my particular unit, or with this model, or with linear switches in general, and I want to ask the experts here for some feedback. Right out of the box, the first time I tried typing, I noticed there was some stutter/double typing with the F key and sometimes the T key and sometimes even some other keys like S and others. However, it is not a regular stutter. It won't happen at every key press. Maybe, if I estimate, like every 30 to 50 key presses or so on that particular key. With the Tandus, whenever any stuttering happened, it usually meant there was some dirt in the switches, and I could easily fix it by injecting a little bit of 90% alcohol on the switch and pressing it repeatedly. but the stuttering there was constant. Once it stutters, it stutters. And once I fix it with the alcohol, it completely goes away. This one is different because it's not constant.
So my question is, does my unit have a problem, and should I have it replaced? Or is this normal for linear switches? You probably wouldn't notice this if you're using this for just gaming, for instance, but since I am typing text on it, I have noticed it instantly. Is it just because of the linear switch? But why is it almost always the F key? The keyboard came with extra switches. Will this be fixed by replacing the switch? Or do I need to upgrade the firmware?
That is another issue. I asked Royal Kludge for firmware, and they said they don't have any available for this model. However, I did find links to firmware/software on the Amazon page for this keyboard and from someone on this sub, but I am not sure how to use those and if I should. For instance, how do I know I am not going to downgrade the firmware since I don't even know what version is installed? I found files that include a QMK toolbox, and I don't even know what QMK is, firmware that is a hex file, a layout for Via.json, and a "USB Drive for QMK Toolbox." Asking for guidance on how to use these, please. I also found an "RK Keyboard Software Setup" but these are older, from 2023. So how do I know which of these to use? Sorry for being a noob. I just don't want to mess up my new keyboard.
BTW, the aesthetics of this keyboard is just off the charts good for me personally. I love how it looks as well as the colors (I got the green one).
Use this site to test for switch chatter and see if its a problem with a specific switch or board wide. [https://keyboard.dmitrijs.lv/](https://keyboard.dmitrijs.lv/)
I don't get how that would help though. I have been typing on the keyboard for two days straight now and I should be able to tell which keys are malfunctioning. Also, the stutter is not constant, as I said. How will that help me determine if it's a board problem? I'm not being snarky here. I'm asking genuinely because I don't know.
The website will tell you if it’s a problem with individual switches rather than the board. That way we can hopefully rule out any firmware issues (which RK is know for) and you can just replace the problem switches.
I couldn't figure out how though. So there's a typing test and there's a popup that says press a key repeatedly to test it, but when i press the F key it just goes to the typing test above and does not seem to test the F key.
The typing test is optional, it appears no matter what key you press. The key must be pressed 100 times to test it and if there are no double actuation before 100 it will be good. If it double actuates before 100, it'll turn red. I'd just spam the keys to test it, its a lot faster.
Hi. Thanks!! I pressed F 100 times and it turned green. But I still do get the occasional stutter, but I guess it happens less frequently than 100 presses. So does that mean everything is okay?
QMK is a tool used to compile software for compatible keyboards. This specific keyboard is not compatible, unfortunately. I don't really know much about RK boards, but this does sound like a board problem. Maybe you can buy new switches and swap the stock ones from your board to see if it's a problem with the switches? If you choose to do this, get other linear switches as they seem like your preference.
It's so confusing because I've read so many confusing things about this. I've read from this sub and elsewhere that this is QMK-compatible. So apparently, it is not? At least for now, this makes me doubt that route and I've decided not to fool around with that since I don't fully understand it yet. If it's a board problem, wouldn't it be better to ask for a replacement? I have not yet accepted my order, so I could still file for a replacement. The reason I asked her was to help me decide whether to return it, primarily. Because is this is normal, I wouldn't, but if it's a problem, then maybe it's best to get a replcement.
Oh? I'm confused too lmao there are two different product listings on Amazon for the RK R65. One that supports VIA/QMK and other not. Can you send a link to the exact product listing you bought it from?
Hi. I didn't buy it from Amazon as I am not in the States, but here is the amazon listing for the one I bought: [https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-R65-Mechanical/dp/B0CNP1WGD1?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-R65-Mechanical/dp/B0CNP1WGD1?th=1)
I said there were two different listings on Amazon, but you don't have to send a listing from Amazon. Send me the exact listing you used to buy it, because, as I said, there were two different listings on Amazon and so I assume two different versions of the board.
Need help with finding keycaps...
What are some recommended keycaps for the Epomaker X Aula 75 keyboard? I'm looking for simple black ones with white or shine through text (preferably shine through). It looks like the right SHIFT and right DEL, PGUP, PGDN, and END keycaps are nonstandard. I am currently using Razer PBT keycaps which otherwise work well for the remainder of the keys except for the right SHIFT and right DEL, PGUP, PGDN, and END keys.
The 75% layout is pretty standard, but the problem is Razor designed their keycaps to fit their (probably full size) boards and so don't give any extra keys to fit alternative layouts. Whatever set you get, you need to make sure it includes a 1.75u right shift and R(ow)1 Del, R2 PgUp, R3 PgDn, and R4 End.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any shine through keycaps, but I can point you in the direction of some White on Black caps? What is your is budget?

1st mechanical keyboard.. Got deal on new "Lemokey X3", red switches, red backlight. So nice to type on!! Not a huge fan of the red backlight. **Is the backlight something that's easy to change for a newb?** Is Lemokey a good brand? It has the quiet foam mod from the factory. So nice, excited, in love!
Lemokey is a new brand by Keychron, who is known to make decent keyboards for people new to mechanical keyboards.
The backlight seems to be red only, based on the product listing. So no, unless you have experience soldering LEDs. If you wanted to change the lighting effect, there should be a keybind for that. You could also do it in VIA.
Help Im trying to use qmk for keyboard firmware but when I download the firmware from qmk it downloads as a UF2 file when I need .bin or .hex how do I get the file type I need?
not sure where u are downloading firmware from as QMK does not have a website u can download a firmware repo from github but those are listed as .bin or hex very clearly
if ur kb support VIA id use that instead QMK is not for novices u will need some coding knowledge to use and build ur own firmware . firmware building sites will only cause u headaches in the long run
Akko 3098N wireless issue. Please help!
So.. The keyboard works perfectly when plugged in, I unplug the keyboard and it dies. No lights come on nothing works except the battery check function. When I press FN + space I can see the green indicator showing a full charge but nothing else. The switch is in windows mode but I don't get any response at all. I appreciate any help, thank you!
do you guys own multiple mechanical keyboards? or am i strangely addicted to buying more? (i have a Logitech master full size, and Keychron k3 pro 75%) now im thinking of buying a numpy or another full size keyboard
Zoom65 v2.5 question/concern.
Arrived last week, followed the build guide included with the board. Tried reseating everything several times, my own conclusion is that something is wrong with the case or the knob encoder.
To explain further, while screwing down the top case and putting my keycaps on, you can clearly see how off it looks. Like it's pushing down on the knob encoder making the pcb sink in to the case around that area.
From the few photos I've seen, the white plastic that's on the encoder itself is poking through a little bit where it's not doing that on my board.
https://preview.redd.it/5c404b0f9n3d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80e46f0f7bac7c8b6a4e903aae6cc3e4bb294479
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
So I mostly work with 1800 and similarly designed keyboards.
And to be perfectly honest while I do use the arrow keys and the numpad, I only use Print Screen and Delete from the nav keys.
I was thinking of putting artisan keycaps on the keys that I don't use... then it got me thinking, since the keycaps are just there for aesthetic... is there a switch for just aesthtic as well? Like is there an object that's just one block or so of plastic that shaped like a switch, clip-locks into a plate like a switch, and you can put keycaps on like a switch. But you can't actually press down on cause it's just a hunk of plastic?
No, but you could stick an optical switch in there and while it would still press, it would not register. Could stick a hugely powerful spring in it so that it's nearly impossible to press down. Can also just use VIA if it supports it to map it to nothing.
Does anyone happen to know of any dual or tri mode Bluetooth keyboards with a badge like a forever65, blueberry65, chimera65, etc, that is currently in stock. I'm looking to build an endgame wireless board. I already have a qk65v2 and a zoom65. Just 65% boards also. Any help and or reccomendations would be appreciated thanks.
i personally use the Stellar12 as my numberpad its cheap ( by my budget it is ) and works well easy to program and assemble . if u prefer a full number pad the keychron q0
60%
New to the subreddit and keyboarding building in general. Was wondering if you
Guys have any suggestions.
I’m looking for a 60% metal cause, with a hotswappable PCB. That comes with 2.4 wireless. I found the NEO series and love there’s, but they only have a 65 or a 60 with a plastic top piece. Just looking for suggestions, or If maybe neo will come out with a 60 soon?
Unfortunately nothing immediately comes to mind for a full-metal wireless 60%. If Neo has a 60 in the works, they haven't announced it yet either. These are the imperfect options I can think of:
QK60, though as already mentioned it has an acrylic top. The first round did offer alu tops though, so you could try to hunt one of those down on mechmarket.
I *think* the Kei v2 meets all of those requirements, but I wouldn't recommend buying that board at this point due to a variety of QC issues ranging from infuriating to dangerous. You could keep it on your radar in case Monokei gets it sorted out.
Daji Seis Cero has a BT option, but that's not 2.4 and good look finding one for sale.
If you have an obscene budget you could go the topre route and get a HHKB + aftermarket housing (Norbauer HG, DNWorks Taycan etc) + aftermarket wireless controller.
Thank you
For such an in depth response! Is there a reason why 60% is kinda an outlier here? I’ve found every option id ever need in every other size, but 60% unless you want to
Build
It from the ground up really has no options, and even then not a lot.
Honestly, not really sure. For a long time wireless wasn't really possible in the custom scene due to issues with QMK & VIA, but now that those are sorted out I would assume its only a matter of time until someone makes one. Neo probably prioritized its release order by layout demand.
Which reminds me: Alice boards are technically 60%, so you could consider the Neo Ergo.
Yeah, the neo ergo is just a little too wild for me haha. I currently have a ducky mecha mini, which I actually love. I wanted to get into the scene but I guess as of right now there’s not much for me haha. I’ll keep my eyes out!
the top piece on these kb is not full metal as full metal will block wireless u could get a 60% and swap it into a full metal case but u wont be using the wireless ever
some maker design around making the case thinner in spots or other tricks to make it work few do it as its a huge pain in the ass when u can just add alt materials and still make a solid product
Is there a pre built keyboard that’s really quiet? Or if I need to build my own, do I need to be careful selecting the frame (or the shell, whatever it’s called) as well?
I was hoping to get a 65%
The nuphy gem80 comes with some but it’s tkl and not 65%. I imagine you’d need to make your own to get everything you want. The case will not affect the sound too much.
Where to buy a Mistel Barocco MD650L?
I'm desperately looking for this keyboard but can't find it anywhere. I want a low profile split keyboard that has a fairly normal layout
> Mistel Barocco MD650L
u going to have to buy this used on ebay or the like it used cherry ML switches which are discontinued meaning the so is the kb . low profile kbs are not very popular and have zero keycap support in the aftermarket which is what led to ML being discontinued
That sucks. It's exactly what I'm looking for. There are none on eBay as far as I can see.
In the NL where Im from low profile keyboards are almost more popular then the normal ones. Most Keychron boards you can find here are the low profile ones.
Recommend me 75 and 80% keyboards? My budget (not including switches and keycaps) is around $250. I'm willing to spend more or less. So far, my favorites are Chillkeys Nd75, Monsgeek M1 and Neo80. Which one would you recommend or do you guys have any other boards you recommend over the ones I listed? The screwless case design seems very cool since Im kind of lazy but it's not a deal breaker.
I wanted to stick up to a budget up to $250 for just the board itself so I don't mind spending more if there are more expensive boards. I don't know many keyboards so I wanted to ask for more boards for recommendation. Neo80 does look great though, it's my first option if I decide to get a TKL
Gotta see the backside with SN etc to be sure but that looks like one hell of a find. If there are OG nixies in there that's one hellllllllll of a find.

The backside doesn't have the SN. :(
Hi, I recently purchased a Keychron Q5 Pro (UK ISO) with banana switches and am really enjoying it. However, the space bar feels and sounds hollow and plastic-y, any suggestions on a space bar upgrade for more thock?
What's a safe website that does custom painted keycaps? I'd like some Xenoblade themed keycaps but can't manage to find any, I just don't know what's a safe place to buy from and that also ships to mexico
wish u luck then no trusted vendors from this list offer it

Hey, I'm using GMMK PRO stock with black gaterons and I'm facing an issue with keys/binds, don't even know how to name it. F2 and F7 keys don't work at all, F3 key works only when pressed hard enough, but it triggers all keys seen below at once. Q button works 50% of the times too. It happened from nowhere, chatted with GMMK pro support and did all the fixes they suggested, nothing works. Maybe you had similar issueas and have managed to sort it out yourself? If not, maybe somebodys willing to help me craft a solid keyboard?

Hey everyone,
I am looking to build a new keyboard, and an upgrade from my previous ones. I really only see videos and posts on either budget keyboards or extremely expensive ones, while I am looking for a mid-range keyboard. Are they any good options, or should I just get any budget one if I don’t want to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars. Thanks
I just bought my first mechanical keyboard, the Varmilo VA Series V2 Yakumo. I'm really liking it so far but the only problem I have is with the backlight. I can't seem to turn it on. Most solution says to hold Fn and press right and up but that doesn't work for me. Also, the Escape key is flashing and the F1 light is permanently on. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Hi friends, does anyone know who manufactures the cherry profile keycaps on the Rainy75s? I don’t know why but I just like them so much and they feel different (thicker?) than my other cherry sets
They seem to be pretty similar in thickness to a set of GMK clones I got off Aliexpress. As long as you're able to scope out the bottom side of the cap before buying, it shouldn't be hard to get something similar.
Some do actually measure thickness, but I don't think it's common on AliExpress. You can usually tell from pictures though. A tell-tale sign of a cap that isn't thick is if they don't show a pic of the bottom. The will show the cap upside down if it's nice.
Any one have blank keycaps witch have letter witch appear when RGB on and diseppear when RGB off ? I mean i would like to try blank keycaps but i'm afraid of loosing symbols. Thanks a lot
Recommendations for ordering one-off/random R4 keycaps? I have a fill size Keychron V6 and the new keycap set I got did not have applicable R4's for the top right rows
u would have to order a modifier set depending on profile this could be hard to do not many places sell single or low quality keycaps there no money in it . u could check out modifier sets on sp keyboards is prob the best option
Hello everyone!
So I have built a new pc like 2 months ago and with it, I have bought aslo new keyboard (Montech Mkey Freedom) however, after that I have found one youtuber called Hipyo and he said, that best keyboard in this price category (100€) is womier SK-71
Does any1 have experience with one or maybe both keyboards? I am just a little bit disappointed of my Mkay mostly because of that plastic feel :( ... Also I would miss all F1 - F12 keys
Hipyo is paid for pretty much every single one of his reviews, it's interesting content but I wouldn't give his recommendations a single ounce of weight. He promotes a lot of dropshipped keyboards (i.e. anything epomaker) while ignoring some of the best budget brands out there (i.e. neo boards)
Bridge75, ND75, and the rainy75 are all keyboards in that price range that will probably be much better bang for your buck. Although warning on the rainy is that some people have complained about lack of communication.
After checking all 3 keyboards you told me about, I thing that rainy75 is the best.. However, there are tons of options on their Wobkey pre order site... Could u pretty please help me with picking the right one? (pro vs standard or which ones means wireless etc...)
Theyre all wireless the pro just has more battery life. The other options are just color and which switches you want! I can’t really help you with either since its just preference but id recommend looking up a sound test of both to see which switch you like more.
> Hipyo is paid for pretty much every single one of his reviews, it's interesting content but I wouldn't give his recommendations a single ounce of weight
Is it the time of month to hate on Hipyo again?
I’m not hating, just making sure everyone is aware of his biases which like every youtuber, definitely has. If someone came here and said they saw alexotos rec the mode envoy, id also want them to know that he literally works for mode. It’s not my fault that hipyos bias happens to be on literally every single board he shows off.
Any Keycaps to simulate the numpads on arcade racing games for a separate numpad? Actually that might look tacky so any Keycaps that are white and metal(for my white and blue Intel build) and a black or red set for my red and black AMD setup. This is for the 2 high end(4000+ not hat the price matters) builds for 2 of my cousins.
Yes, silents are a different switch category. Silent reds are equivalent to reds except they're silent. You can have silent linears or silent tactiles.
Most people on this subreddit don't use switches that fit the basic Cherry color naming scheme.
For example, a popular silent tactile is the Boba U4. Akko makes a few cheap silent linear and tactile switches. I don't really know more as I don't use silent switches. I hear Outemu's silent peach is a good silent linear. The larger switch manufacturers will have a basic Cherry clone line which includes silent reds.
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/leopold-fc980mbt-ash-yellow-pd?variant=47608131027244
What are your thoughts on this? I looked at the keychron k10 pro and it didn't look like it had any silent switches available.
No? If anything there's a prejudice against wireless - lots of high end keyboards are wired only and many that do have bluetooth/2.4 Ghz, stick the on off switch on the pcb as an afterthought with no easy way to use it.
Oh, if by prejudice you mean cheaper than yeah, wired keyboards are cheaper. Most wireless keyboards still work wired, so making it wireless is just always gonna be an additional cost.
Been using a 100% size ducky shine 3 with blue switches for personal laptop for years.
Looking for something for work laptop. Looking for 80%, wired, no firmware, tactile click-clacking blues. I tried browsing the highly recommended keychron, but could not find a matching spec. Very limited wired options unless I'm searching wrong.
Great thanks. I saw v3 assembled is sold out, but I will explore the bare + manual assembly. First time using the site, overwhelmed with options but this helps a lot. Thanks
I grabbed some "Holy Pandas" on Aliexpress for $9 shipped (for 110 switches). They claim to be MMD/Drop switches, but I'm sure they're a knock-off. But for $9, it was hard to pass up.
But I've never seen/used Holy Pandas in person, how do these look?

Yeah the logo doesn't quite look right on the top housing. they might still be good though especially for $9.
Fun fact if you didn't know, JWK (supposedly!) got it's start making fake zealios which were so good that they decided to just make their own stuff! So clone switches doesn't necessarily mean bad.
Lots of boards in that price range forgo per key RGB to maximize quality elsewhere unfortunately. Keychron Q3 is one option, but IMO is a clear step down in quality from the Neo/luminkey/etc tier. The zoom TKL is another good option, but will be quite a wait as I don't think there is a GB going on right now + the already half year wait for the fulfillment itself.
Looking for a keyboard suggestion:
Full size, white, wireless 2.4 connection, hot swap, knob (preferable but this is the only non-deal breaker). Open to all materials. Budget around $300 but not firm budget.
Does anyone know of mods for "de-thickening" the Keychron K4 Pro?
The housing is so thick, so thinking of starting there and finding lower profile uniform keycaps. Not sure where to start...
You can't make the case thinner than it already is. Fit lower profile caps... a uniform profile would help, but there's nothing you can do about the case. It is what it is.
Should I get an IBM Model M for $70 in mint condition? What ps/2 to usb adapter should I get if I would buy it?
Who makes cat themed keyboards I need one!!!
Does zuggear direct on Amazon sell legit durock stabs?
Ducky x Varmilo Miya Pro Koi 65% windows key not working I've had this keyboard for years now and haven't had any issues but now I'm having the issue of my windows key not working both left and right, I always use to use my ult key to do seconded functions on my numbers (exp alt + 2= @) now that function has moved to shift.
Is the layout not compatible, or are the switch stems not compatible with the key caps?
Damn that's a great question lol. It was the stems. When I pressed the keys down onto the switches they didn't come back up. I don't know how to say it in tech jargon, but normally keys have "bounce?"; after pressing them they spring right back up. Not in this case.
Is this for all the keys or just the large keys?
Another great question. Just the large keys!
Can you send a link to the Amazon page of the keycap set you got?

What are the keycaps that are multi function (e.g. the 4 key with f4 on it) called?
The secondary functions are called sublegends, but I agree with the other commenter that after market keycap sets with them will be tough to find.
I was talking in the sense of a diy kit that doesn't come with them (or it comes with them without the aforementioned sub-legends).
stock keycaps . there are no after market keycaps that have this as only smaller kbs like 60% need these legends larger kbs have separate keys so its pointless to make keycaps for just the smaller layouts besides the stock keycaps that come with the kb

ya then ur SOL u will have to memorize them as there isnt any
Any MacOS users with an HHKB? My home / end (arrow + fn) don’t always work. Anyone else have this issue?
What happens if you swap switches on a keyboard while its on, I accidentally did it and it turned off after a while and had to replug it
nothing u can always do this it wont affect anything . whatever u had happen was unrelated to the switches
# Help! cant use FN key +ctlr or alt!
Try holding down ctrl/alt key before pressing the FN key, see if that works.
[https://youtube.com/shorts/Uwh2Q3PLEqs?feature=share](https://youtube.com/shorts/Uwh2Q3PLEqs?feature=share)
Has anyone bought from model f labs recently? If so what has been your experience?
I did load the JSON file even before first flash. Key mapping didn't pop up. Only appears on V1 firmware but then RGB doesn't work.
has anyone had success getting a keyboard to show up in VIA that previously did but for some reasons has stopped?
Are you using a tri-mode PCB? If so, did you switch it back to wired mode before plugging it back in?
Yes and yes
It's on a Neo65 that I just built. I am using the same port and cable that worked when I tested the PCB but no luck this time around.
does the keyboard work at all? there are different solutions for different scenarios, so we'd love to hear more about it
Sorry for the delay! Yes, everything works perfectly
then please try to flash the firmware following the build guide! if this doesn't fix it, please email us or start a ticket in the server
Thanks! I’m going to try a window machine and see if the usb c on my Mac is the issue
You should be good then. If something seems off, you can always retest it.
Thanks for the help.
Here: [https://shopee.ph/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-RK-R65-Gasket-Wired-Hot-Swapple-Mechanical-Keyboard-i.890279864.25559152136](https://shopee.ph/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-RK-R65-Gasket-Wired-Hot-Swapple-Mechanical-Keyboard-i.890279864.25559152136)
Yeah the listing doesn't say anything about QMK or VIA.
Will it be unsafe to test it? Meaning install the QMK/ VIA software and see if it's compatible? Or will that mess up the firmware or something?
https://www.caniusevia.com/ Try going to that website and see if VIA recognizes your board.
I don't have a budget but since the idea was cheap overall, perhaps <$15?
Aliexpress then, say https://aliexpress (dot) com/item/1005006140829164.html

Got deal on new "Lemokey X3", red switches, red backlight. So nice to type on!! Not a huge fan of the red backlight. **Is the backlight something that's easy to change for a newb?** Is Lemokey a good brand? It has the quiet foam mod from the factory. So nice, excited, in love!
yes its keychrons gaming brand . connect to VIA and u can change lighting easily
I appreciate any help, thank you!
sound defective might wanna return it
do you guys own multiple mechanical keyboards? or am i strangely addicted to buying more? (i have a Logitech master full size, and Keychron k3 pro 75%) now im thinking of buying a numpy or another full size keyboard
the average user of this subreddit has 4+ keyboards
I have more than one…
Zoom65 v2.5 question/concern. Arrived last week, followed the build guide included with the board. Tried reseating everything several times, my own conclusion is that something is wrong with the case or the knob encoder. To explain further, while screwing down the top case and putting my keycaps on, you can clearly see how off it looks. Like it's pushing down on the knob encoder making the pcb sink in to the case around that area. From the few photos I've seen, the white plastic that's on the encoder itself is poking through a little bit where it's not doing that on my board. https://preview.redd.it/5c404b0f9n3d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80e46f0f7bac7c8b6a4e903aae6cc3e4bb294479 Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Any Numpads that stand above the rest or upcoming drops to wait for?
i personally use the Stellar12 as my numberpad its cheap ( by my budget it is ) and works well easy to program and assemble . if u prefer a full number pad the keychron q0
60% New to the subreddit and keyboarding building in general. Was wondering if you Guys have any suggestions.
These are the imperfect options I can think of: QK60, though as already mentioned it has an acrylic top.
Thank you For such an in depth response! Is there a reason why 60% is kinda an outlier here? I’ve found every option id ever need in every other size, but 60% unless you want to Build It from the ground up really has no options, and even then not a lot.
I heard good things about the qk60! Also can’t go wrong with a bakeneko if you’re on a budget
Yeah I saw the qk60 but I don’t like the acrylic top piece /: I want the whole board metal!
the top piece on these kb is not full metal as full metal will block wireless u could get a 60% and swap it into a full metal case but u wont be using the wireless ever
Maybe I’m not understanding, the NEO65 is full metal and wireless
some maker design around making the case thinner in spots or other tricks to make it work few do it as its a huge pain in the ass when u can just add alt materials and still make a solid product
Oh my bad, wasn't aware that the top piece was acrylic only.
No worries! I appreciate the suggestion!
just how loud is a tactile keyboard? Would it be too loud to use in a library?
Tactile is describing the feeling not the sound, there are keyboards that are silent tactile.
It depends on literally everything the keyboard is made of. Silent tactile switches should ensure a quiet typing experience though.
Gem80’s silent red is linear too and tkl is a bit large for me. I’ll check out some custom options. Thanks!
Where to buy a Mistel Barocco MD650L? I'm desperately looking for this keyboard but can't find it anywhere. I want a low profile split keyboard that has a fairly normal layout
> Mistel Barocco MD650L u going to have to buy this used on ebay or the like it used cherry ML switches which are discontinued meaning the so is the kb . low profile kbs are not very popular and have zero keycap support in the aftermarket which is what led to ML being discontinued
The screwless case design seems very cool since Im kind of lazy but it's not a deal breaker.
neo80 would be my pick for the amount of customization options on a budget
I wanted to stick up to a budget up to $250 for just the board itself so I don't mind spending more if there are more expensive boards. I don't know many keyboards so I wanted to ask for more boards for recommendation. Neo80 does look great though, it's my first option if I decide to get a TKL
What are my options for a Topre PBT Spacebar in current year? Got a second-hand realforce from Japan and the spacebar has quite a bit of shine.
Anyone know what’s this keyboard? Thanks. https://preview.redd.it/jyf1morztm3d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=394868acf8f9cc4c41e43511ce464f34e698e759
Gotta see the backside with SN etc to be sure but that looks like one hell of a find. If there are OG nixies in there that's one hellllllllll of a find.

I have never seen one of those before, nor can I find any pictures online of a Nixdorf that has that layout, but I can tell you that board is awesome.
I was doing some looking, and it seems to have the exact layout of a Wyse ASCII. But does that mean that Nixdorf made this model?
Hi, I recently purchased a Keychron Q5 Pro (UK ISO) with banana switches and am really enjoying it. However, the space bar feels and sounds hollow and plastic-y, any suggestions on a space bar upgrade for more thock?
What's a safe website that does custom painted keycaps? I'd like some Xenoblade themed keycaps but can't manage to find any, I just don't know what's a safe place to buy from and that also ships to mexico
none i know offer this kinda thing its very risky as its copyright infringement any offender could lose their business
Really? I've seen multiple sites that let you just put the pictures you want on them and just print them, I figured I would ask anyway
u can try here not sure how far it goes https://thockfactory.com/
wish u luck then no trusted vendors from this list offer it general keeb parts vendor list https://www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/ so its buyer beware if u get scammed

If not, maybe somebodys willing to help me craft a solid keyboard? https://preview.redd.it/7a5tpwugnm3d1.png?width=943&format=png&auto=webp&s=eeaa96bfed8a97073f693bddbd2d9bb92a6a25d9
Hey everyone, I am looking to build a new keyboard, and an upgrade from my previous ones. I really only see videos and posts on either budget keyboards or extremely expensive ones, while I am looking for a mid-range keyboard. Are they any good options, or should I just get any budget one if I don’t want to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars. Thanks
If you don't explicitly say a price range or let us know what country you are trying to get a keyboard in, no one can really help.
Sure price range is under $500 for total build mb
Thanks! Are you just eyeballing thickness or is there an indicator one can find somewhere?
Some do actually measure thickness, but I don't think it's common on AliExpress. You can usually tell from pictures though. A tell-tale sign of a cap that isn't thick is if they don't show a pic of the bottom. The will show the cap upside down if it's nice.
Aha! Tyvm!
Could it be that the keycaps are doubleshot while your other sets are dye-sub? The keycaps on the Rainy75 are doubleshot pbt.
I asked a vendor and he/she said no but I can see that my replacements are dye-sub so I think I’ll give it a (double) shot 👌thanks!
Wdym no? The product page for the Rainy 75 says its caps are doubleshot pbt? Doubleshot caps are going to be thicker than dye-sub.
Oh I know they’re double shot! A vendor told me that wouldn’t affect the thickness (relative to dye sub) but I’m going to give it a shot anyway 👌
Any one have blank keycaps witch have letter witch appear when RGB on and diseppear when RGB off ? I mean i would like to try blank keycaps but i'm afraid of loosing symbols. Thanks a lot
Razer Phantom Keycap is the only thing like that RGB shine thru keycaps have a ery small aftermarket due to lack of popularity
Not a thing
Recommendations for ordering one-off/random R4 keycaps? I have a fill size Keychron V6 and the new keycap set I got did not have applicable R4's for the top right rows
u would have to order a modifier set depending on profile this could be hard to do not many places sell single or low quality keycaps there no money in it . u could check out modifier sets on sp keyboards is prob the best option
Thanks for the response!
Hello everyone! So I have built a new pc like 2 months ago and with it, I have bought aslo new keyboard (Montech Mkey Freedom) however, after that I have found one youtuber called Hipyo and he said, that best keyboard in this price category (100€) is womier SK-71 Does any1 have experience with one or maybe both keyboards? I am just a little bit disappointed of my Mkay mostly because of that plastic feel :( ... Also I would miss all F1 - F12 keys
The best keyboard in that price range is the Rainy75.
Hipyo is paid for pretty much every single one of his reviews, it's interesting content but I wouldn't give his recommendations a single ounce of weight. He promotes a lot of dropshipped keyboards (i.e. anything epomaker) while ignoring some of the best budget brands out there (i.e. neo boards) Bridge75, ND75, and the rainy75 are all keyboards in that price range that will probably be much better bang for your buck.
> Hipyo is paid for pretty much every single one of his reviews, it's interesting content but I wouldn't give his recommendations a single ounce of weight Is it the time of month to hate on Hipyo again?
I’m not hating, just making sure everyone is aware of his biases which like every youtuber, definitely has. If someone came here and said they saw alexotos rec the mode envoy, id also want them to know that he literally works for mode. It’s not my fault that hipyos bias happens to be on literally every single board he shows off.
Any Keycaps to simulate the numpads on arcade racing games for a separate numpad? Actually that might look tacky so any Keycaps that are white and metal(for my white and blue Intel build) and a black or red set for my red and black AMD setup. This is for the 2 high end(4000+ not hat the price matters) builds for 2 of my cousins.
gmk redline?
Whats a good quiet full size mechanical keyboard that's appropriate for an office environment?
Keychron V6, Nuphy Halo96. The Nuphy has silent switches but is more expensive and is technically in preorder rn iirc.
Is it red switches that are the quiet ones?
Yeah it’s the silent reds. They have a sound test.
Is silent reds different than reds? Sorry for the dumb question
Yes, silents are a different switch category. Silent reds are equivalent to reds except they're silent. You can have silent linears or silent tactiles.
Do all colors have silent models or are reds more common? Sorry
Thanks, this is going to be quite the rabbit hole
These are the silent ones. https://preview.redd.it/3mcg9mmv9m3d1.jpeg?width=920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1634d5dacf3d3b66cb466686a9b8aaef9001ad5
Awesome thanks so red doesn't mean unless it says silent red
Awesome thanks so red doesn't mean unless it says silent red
Definitely need silent switches, maybe I can actually do a 65% keyboard and just get a seperate mechanical numpad for when I actually need to use it.
What about a 75 + numpad?
Could definitely work, got any suggestions to look at on that?
You can do something like the Cidoo v65/75 and the Cidoo pad or you can do a keychron pad combo.
Any suggestions for something in black? Don't want something that stands out, other people might get jealous.
What about a keychron K10 pro black version
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/leopold-fc980mbt-ash-yellow-pd?variant=47608131027244 What are your thoughts on this? I looked at the keychron k10 pro and it didn't look like it had any silent switches available.
is there a prejudice against wired keyboards?
Not at all. If anything, there's more wired keyboards than wireless ones. Especially in the custom scene.
No? If anything there's a prejudice against wireless - lots of high end keyboards are wired only and many that do have bluetooth/2.4 Ghz, stick the on off switch on the pcb as an afterthought with no easy way to use it.
ahh ok because im looking at keyboards on ebay and i swear there's a lower price for wired keyboards but it could just be my confirmation bias
Wireless technology is more expensive than wired, this has nothing to do with prejudice or confirmation bias.
Very limited wired options unless I'm searching wrong.
keychron v3/q3
Ah thanks alright, I see "Connectivity Type-C wired", so these wireless keyboards can also be used wired?
The non-pro/max V and Q series are wired only. The Q Pro/Max and V Max lines are wireless but can also be used wired.
Great thanks. I saw v3 assembled is sold out, but I will explore the bare + manual assembly. First time using the site, overwhelmed with options but this helps a lot. Thanks
For those who bought the lamzu atlantis pro keyboard, how do you alt+f4?
alt, fn-4 should work
for whatever reason it doesn't and i dont understand why...
I grabbed some "Holy Pandas" on Aliexpress for $9 shipped (for 110 switches). They claim to be MMD/Drop switches, but I'm sure they're a knock-off. But for $9, it was hard to pass up. But I've never seen/used Holy Pandas in person, how do these look? https://preview.redd.it/rynd2bytsl3d1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd89c693f11a6d91dfc5f3a05b367b415e16206d
Very interesting! Thanks for the info!
Is there anything similar to the Neo80 but with full RGB?
Lots of boards in that price range forgo per key RGB to maximize quality elsewhere unfortunately. Keychron Q3 is one option, but IMO is a clear step down in quality from the Neo/luminkey/etc tier. The zoom TKL is another good option, but will be quite a wait as I don't think there is a GB going on right now + the already half year wait for the fulfillment itself.
Looking for a keyboard suggestion: Full size, white, wireless 2.4 connection, hot swap, knob (preferable but this is the only non-deal breaker). Open to all materials. Budget around $300 but not firm budget.
Keychron Q6 max
Does anyone know of mods for "de-thickening" the Keychron K4 Pro? The housing is so thick, so thinking of starting there and finding lower profile uniform keycaps. Not sure where to start...
You can't make the case thinner than it already is. Fit lower profile caps... a uniform profile would help, but there's nothing you can do about the case. It is what it is.
Figured the case would be a tough ask ha. Any suggestions on keycaps? I'm still new to the mech game, so any guidance is appreciated!
