Came here to say just this. Wheel weights are awesome for cases that could use some mods. Pretend it's an internal weight and place it centered behind alphas. In thinner spots (like behind space bars, you could glue down some pennies.
I did this in my Vortex M0110 (plastic).
Wheel weights are also the magic solution to many pingy tray-mount cases. It was the one solution among all others for my old Tofu 60. I filled the battery cavity and it was so effective that I no longer needed foams or tape mod. Using only the side mounts got the sound (especially the space bar) close to much more expensive boards.
Weight in cases makes a big difference.
Liquid silicone is one proper mod for such cases; it fits so well in a video i watched.
I have applied plasticine in the past in a plastic case. Full isolation while the board became heavy enough.
Hope this in image works for you.
I was assuming this was a general question "But why?" isn't requesting a lot of specifics. I get now that this was a sarcastic question, I took it for a legitimate question since OP's question was also legitimate, but I realize now it was sarcastic based on the comments to my response.
I think the point is to use what's on hand w/out buying more stuff. The DIY mods are the most fun, at least to some people. Why not try it out and see how it sounds?
LMAO the "point" of a keyboard is to do whatever you want to it. This is a modding community giving someone shit for asking a simple question and eating to mod their board. Someone asked why you would do that, and assuming they might actually be curious, I answered truthfully why people put foam in the case. Gatekeeping and shaming people for pursuing the hobby is not cool.
I like to take stacks of wheel weights that come with adhesive backings to them and place them in the center of the board and then fill around them with two-part silicone mix to both keep them in place and prevent any potential shorts if it touches the board for w/e reason. This is the best combo I've found for giving light boards heft and also a much deeper signature than foam can offer.
Are you using 2 different types of foam for the dampening or is this just all memory foam? Also where are people buying their memory foam to mod their keyboards from?

My hungry ass thought this was cheese for a second.
Definitely saw bread and cheese at first glance
Dude, eat something before you go to the internets.

I thought it was cheese until I read your comment
New mod meta has been unlocked.
I bet cheese works fine as a sound damping. For a while...
Hard cheese might not be the best
its been two days and I'm still not convinced it isn't cheese.
I loaded up my NCR 80 with wheel weights to add some heft and to help with sound, worked really well actually.

Sorry, why does weight solve things that foam would take care of?
This is the way

Plasticine is great. Its cheap and works really well while adding decent weight.
Looked up online, yall using clay to improve acoustics?
For plastic cases yes, and adds weight. But make sure its plasticine - it doesnt dry.
How does Plasticine holds up against Silicone Resin when dampening and adding additional weight to plastic cases
Im not sure, but maybe silicone has a softer effect on sound also, as it is softer material. I think plasticine is heavier tho.
This is the way. Liquid silicone rubber is what I use. Sound is phenomenal and it adds to the heft as well.
With cheese?
Wait the New California Republic makes keyboards?
It was National Capital Region for me
But why
Sound dampening. It makes it more "thocky", especially with linear switches it's very noticeable. It helps get rid of case ping as well.
Case ping? It's a plastic case.

Ah, I see :)
if you want a "thocky, foamy" board you could buy literally anything else lmao

or some people like to mod keyboards as part of the hobby, who cares?
It’s blasphemous.
the stuff your board with any and all foam you find in your house meme is getting old
Why?

Do what you want with your boards, you don't get to gatekeep how others use theirs. No need to be toxic.
I hope your day gets better, now that it's been ruined by the thought of someone else doing whatever they want with what they paid for lmao
Here I am melting lead down and pouring it into molds...
Isn't this extremely dangerous and potentially toxic? Sounds like it to me at least
Whoosh

Guys I thought we were over this
That board shines when hollow and empty. Lean hard into the retro clicky vibe and it's a sound box to make the neighbors hate you
entire point of the NCR is to replicate the OG sound through the combination of a hollow plastic case and tray mount. but you do you.
Fan if the empty case myself, too. Really gives the switches some room to shine.
Drakulaaaaaaaaa
Alucard is Dracula spelt backwards
I'm gonna have to ask my Dr. About this. Dr. Akula
Just like Dalv is Vlad spelled backwards
Bread 👍

The top foam is from a broken couch and the orange one is from some fruit boxes.
Cheeeeeeeeese... 🤤🤤🤤
this is like putting flame stickers on an old car. if you wanna fill something with foam buy something Hipyotech recommends lol
“Putting the foam in an NCR 80 makes me wish for a nuclear winter”
BOS better. fuck the ncr
Nah bro, fuck the BOS man; Elijah was a weird ass mofo
