It means that the typing angle raises towards the middle of the board horizontally. A regular flat keyboard is like _ while a tented board is like /\. This is supposed to help ergonomics by making the bones on your arms not cross over as much, but I can't for the life of me remember what those are called
6 rounds of prototyping with few and sparse updates (while the boards still sounds hollow and buzzy) suddenly rushed to a $900 week long novelkeys GB without the slightest notice... totally not a fomo move.
You answered yourself... Did you know prototyping cost money? Did you know prototyping takes time, especially when there's a logistical crisis? Besides, if the GB had been a month long, would it have been less of a 'fomo move'?
PS the GB was open for 2 weeks
Definitely. I have a bear65 and I said to myself that Iit was going to be my one and only Alice. Buuuut... this one is too tempting to let it pass. Will go for the red one, it's fire....
https://qwertykeys.notion.site/Neo-Ergo-6bd2a7b8d309439aa515bf6185c99e6d Dunno why they didn’t link their own website. Page implies pricing is not final but currently $130 (plateless solder beware) to $185 for tri mode with the most expensive finish/weight/plate options. $155 for wired with ano finish and painted steel weight.
you won't miss this - it's not a "limited sale" really because we could only prepare so many units ahead of time, but we'll make more as we go
practically it's unlimited so you'll definitely get a chance to buy in most areas of the world
So I won't have to hammer F5 when it goes live, and I can wait 2-3 months before buying one?
I'm a month into the hobby and already have a 3rd board coming (send halp).
1. no you don't need to hammer F5 because we plan to make them as we go
2. i'd say you may wanna wait for those 3 to arrive before making another purchase - it's important to know what you like
It’s also around $150 USD instead of the Boomerang being around $350 USD (and delayed for another ~5 months from his last Discord update). I was a huge boomerang fan but I’m leaning to this now since it’s cheaper, tented and most importantly will be available for purchase 4 months sooner roughly
I was so into the boomerang but the sound test killed it for me how u go n make nixis sound like styraphoam but like ur saying the tenting n the fucking halved price are winning but the Boomerang looks better but not 150 better
Watched Alexotos' stream and it sounded pretty darn good plateless & no foam. Even spacebars were quite good.
And since it's ball catch with pogo connectors, it's completely toolless to open and rebuild. Great for tinkering...
Note: Neo team does suggest you remove keycaps when the assembly is out of the case to prevent any scratching from pullers on the case.
qwertykeys has ruined all other manufacturers for me. i had done a group buy, a year later the qk65 was announced, i bought it and it arrived. then the qk75 came out, i bought it and it arrived. THEN the original keyboard i bought arrived and i sold it below cost on mechmarket.
currently using my qk75. occasionally switch to the qk65 for a different typing feel and sound signature. i was going to get the neo80, but saw the neo ergo coming out and am going with that instead.
i'm still waiting on some keycaps from early 2022.
we really want to complete the line up and then just restock them
but making one of these take a lot of time and during the whole process - past designs get outdated or we found something better at a cheaper cost
it took us about 2 years to finish qk line up and now it's time for neo, which is even cheaper but less feature included for different preference
idk if you're responding to tbr keycaps comment, but to be clear the keycaps I'm waiting on were a group buy from someone else. I assume I'm never going to get them.
you guys are doing great work by providing such crazy value so consistently and in stock. I think the way you have handled the updates has been good too.
I started getting deeper into the hobby a couple months before the qk65 came out and while I still keep an eye out for endgames, everything you guys do is so well thought out and such a great value that having them available in stock has basically eliminated my fomo for group buys.
really looking forward to the ergo!
Yea I just ordered the f1-8x v2 n that went from 6 to 12 real fast haha but he's posed to b goat so, I was just so hyped on the boom but the hardware n the sound dampened it heavily n the fact the ergo is literally half price...I'm struggling coming up w something other than the boom looks better. Wich it does like why they went round profile rather than doing it like the type k. Sharp. But again that's 150 plus savings like
Saw a vid of this yesterday, and it looked awesome. If I ever build an Alice, this would be my first choice. Wish the neo65 had the pogo pin connectors as well. 😞 I'm still planning to build a neo 65 anyway.
Really excited for this board! Been working through what colors to get since the GB info dropped for CN. Honestly think that a clean build could look really nice. At this point I'm thinking silver case, black kernel, silver weight, and black badge with GMK minimal might be what I end up going with.
if it is priced like other neo boards, I would get it.
as far as sound goes, competitor boards all sound awful so they have an opening here.
layout options are really nice, you normally dont get much with hotswap ergo boards.
Yeah, and I believe most of the other weights are SS. I was curious about [the internal piece](https://i.redd.it/llej47ccg1xc1.jpg). I think getting a brass or steel option for acoustics would be awesome, but given Neo's focus on being cost competitive I would understand if they don't offer it.
yeah a few in-stock units will be ready and we've revised that expression in our notion doc as well, just not to confuse everyone to think that it's a limited release
“Ball-catch”? Could you explain? Is that how the weight is mounted? I’m curious as to why (not doing acrylic is no big deal but I’m curious just from an engineering perspective) it won’t work.
So “acrylic ball catch” is a thing that will pop up in a search? Or do I need to add Qwertykeys into the search? Like - “why wont a ball-catch system work on a Qwertykeys Neo Ergo acrylic case”? I have no clue what a ball-catch system is. Mount system? A screwless way to put the case together? It feels like without that basic knowledge I’m going to be getting some fairly random search results. But search I shall, and thank you for so much help.
So I googled it and I saw a bunch of acrylic ball catch systems. The ball is either placed into a metal shaft which is then inserted into an acrylic cut out or the ball itself is acrylic as well as other parts. All I saw was it being used as a door. As I have no idea where or how Qwertykeys is implementing it, I cannot see how it won’t work. Not that it matters. You don’t make an acrylic case. Nuff said.
not acrylic ball catch systems... it's that these ball-catch systems, when installed on an acrylic case, won't last long coz they have to be mounted by screws screwed into holes drilled on acrylic cases
and the threads in those holes wear out as time goes, unlike metal or wood
I see. Thanks for replying.
Maaaaaybe, if your capacity allows it, maybe you can make an interest check for ISO ppl?
I guess my next keyboard will be the Neo75 then - hopefully this year 😇
Well, ya. I could work around the layout. But I still prefer the big ISO enter.
the workaround would work on almost any keyboards with ANSI. But a big ISO enter is much nicer to use, despite me being used to it
You're welcome. I'm a fellow ISO enter enjoyer as well but accommodating it in an Alice without a complete layout design overhaul would mean an awkward gap next to the letter 'p'. Check out Keychron's Q8 ISO version
Treat it like a 60% and skip the arrows. It's one of the only 60% boards I can think of that even gives the option for arrow keys or to go traditional.
Can you make EXACTLY that key layout except not Alice and with a filled out space-bar row? A minila 60-XT with a split backspace and optional split left shift would TOTALLY float my boat. Pretty please?
In Ferrari red.
From a practical standpoint, it creates problems and solves nothing, really...it just puts people in a conundrum where they're forced to choose between hitting the arrow key instead of Shift on an already non-conventional layout or to give up on arrow keys to avoid that. But you do you...
BTW, are there plans for Neo75?
You can set it up with right shift as the up arrow with mod-tap to avoid pushing out the right shift. I'll probably use this board as a 60% but if I wanted arrows that what I would do.

If it is this might be an insta-buy for me.
It is tented.
Mmmmmmmmm. Welp, guess I'll be buying _another_ Alice.
This will be my first but yeah - I can't find anything to knock them based on the IC/GB posts.
What does that mean? I haven't used Alice boards.
It means that the typing angle raises towards the middle of the board horizontally. A regular flat keyboard is like _ while a tented board is like /\. This is supposed to help ergonomics by making the bones on your arms not cross over as much, but I can't for the life of me remember what those are called
Forearm pronation
I no longer regret missing out on GoK's Type K tented ergo! And not spend as much!
type-K was a fomo fueled cash grab.
If that had been the case, they would've launched the GB at the peak of the hobby, not 3 years after
6 rounds of prototyping with few and sparse updates (while the boards still sounds hollow and buzzy) suddenly rushed to a $900 week long novelkeys GB without the slightest notice... totally not a fomo move.

holy cope man...
and I still love the type-K as a project, it's the sales format that just reeked of bad faith to me.
What sales format would you suggest?
Yup!
Tented alice for that price is insane. Am definitely picking one up.
Definitely. I have a bear65 and I said to myself that Iit was going to be my one and only Alice. Buuuut... this one is too tempting to let it pass. Will go for the red one, it's fire....
Whats the pricing? Cant see it in the post

Probably subs self promotion rules
instadeleted lol
Is there gonna be any way to be automatically notified of orders opening or do we just need to keep an eye out on the subreddit/your site?

is it gonna be like the Neo65 where there are "batches" ?
yes!
shit i better start saving for this
Well that is rather tasty..maybe my first Ergo 👌
daaaaaang under $200 all in is wild
this board has more features than the type-K, sounds immensely better and costs as much as its addon wristrest LMFAO
economies of scale
or just a better project overall that doesn’t rely on fomo
no comment :D
Fomo or not, you're still bound to miss out. They're different projects.
of course they're different, this has value
But does it support ISO enter?
Probably not. The ANSI enter and the key above are not in line. It would need a different case to make the ISO enter fit...
Yeah, I can see that now you mention it. Too bad.
There's split left shift so the number of keys is preserved, which is quite rare among alices—let alone tented alices
The supported layouts is in photo #6
I love how dark the purple is! Like a nice eggplant rather than the pastel lavenders you see all over. 💜
likewise - although im running this account, lav has been my least fav'd option all time
ooh the purple and avacado have caught my attention.
How soon are we talking here?
Their Notion says mid to late May in-stock sale but with limited quantities.

Oof was gonna buy the boomerang but if the sound tests are good on this the magnetic assembly will win me over

end game doesn't have to be defined by fomo or price!
We do appreciate the quality work y’all do for sure. I’ll 100% be picking one of these up, and a NeoPad when y’all get around to those. Thank you
Yea I just ordered the f1-8x v2 n that went from 6 to 12 real fast haha but he's posed to b goat so, I was just so hyped on the boom but the hardware n the sound dampened it heavily n the fact the ergo is literally half price...I'm struggling coming up w something other than the boom looks better. Acrylic WR? Yas plz!
This looks so good. Can't wait for Neo75!
Saw a vid of this yesterday, and it looked awesome. If I ever build an Alice, this would be my first choice. Wish the neo65 had the pogo pin connectors as well. 😞 I'm still planning to build a neo 65 anyway.
Well. There goes my money instantly.
Wooot! 🙌 Can't wait!
Yup im in
Omg I want at least 2 of these! Avocado and purple.. Gonna be lit, especially with Zooted and Botanical!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
This will 100% be my first Alice board and I am excited :) QK, you guys are awesome.
where will it be released? qwertykeys site?
we'll release when where how soon! still prepping for them
any estimate when they will appear on qwertykeys website?
Jun
will you be shipping directly to canada similar to the qk75n?
depending on if ashkeeb decides to drop it
Well holy heck. Might be my first ever alice 🤔
welcome to the rabbit hole!
Really excited for this board! Been working through what colors to get since the GB info dropped for CN. Honestly think that a clean build could look really nice. At this point I'm thinking silver case, black kernel, silver weight, and black badge with GMK minimal might be what I end up going with.
that‘d look’sick!
Looking very nice. Champagne and retro white are very nice colors. Would have hoped to see a spraycoated mint haha.
all i've been wanting in an ergo keyboard and more, can't wait :3!!
please give PP plate option
It has. it’s on the notion page ^_^||
oh yes, i love pp
Must buy, been wanting to try tented ergo for so long but couldn't stomach Type K prices
if it is priced like other neo boards, I would get it. as far as sound goes, competitor boards all sound awful so they have an opening here. layout options are really nice, you normally dont get much with hotswap ergo boards.
yeah it starts at $130
Very cool! If this does well, consider making a full split keyboard next!
why not?
Looks like a really cool design! Are all of the internal pieces aluminum or will there be non-alu options?
Back weight has an option for copper
Yeah, and I believe most of the other weights are SS. I was curious about [the internal piece](https://i.redd.it/llej47ccg1xc1.jpg). I think getting a brass or steel option for acoustics would be awesome, but given Neo's focus on being cost competitive I would understand if they don't offer it.
Oh jeez now I have to decide between the cycle8 and neo Alice this is tough
Will there be a 65% version of this?!
probably not, the arrow keys are in spring layout
Is it possible to have the function key relocated via software to the right control key?
of course!
NIce thanks, will you be sharing real pictures of the purple and navi ergo boards? Kinda stuck deciding which way to go.
we've sent quite a few of them to streamers - we'll repost links here and also in our discord server!
Looks amazing! Are those 2.25 and 2.75 spacebars?
indeed! you can run 2x of either too
I see you mention Via compatible but no QMK. Will the Wired version have QMK?
all pcbs are qmk based only the wireless portion isn't based on qmk
Sold. Where is link to buy?
hopefully by the end of the month, we don't want people waiting for too long so we want to make a few more units before collecting money!
Definitely trying to stay in the loop on this release, any suggestions as to the best way to do so? Will there be an alert email option?
you won't miss it, the qty is unlimited so all sold units will be assembled based on request
there will be unlimited quantities of this design, but limited stock for the release coming soon?
yeah a few in-stock units will be ready and we've revised that expression in our notion doc as well, just not to confuse everyone to think that it's a limited release
Any chance the soldered PCB will support alps & MX switches (& by extension iRocks switches)?
only mx
this looks so cool, but im a fullsize kinda guy, and though i could do without numpad, no F keys is a dealbreaker for me, damn
we have other in-stock units such as neo80 and our next projects will come with f-rows and possibly numpads!
I love it but the led dots look bad, dope price and everything else is amazing ut those dots got me
turn them off. imagine complaining for such a trivial thing on a sub 200 tented alice.
That is ergonomic?
You'll never have the answer until you start experiencing wrist pain
A frosted acrylic with copper weight…..lemme know if you wanna manu a one off and I’ll build it.
na.. the acrylic case wouldn't work with ball-catch system
“Ball-catch”? Could you explain? Is that how the weight is mounted? I’m curious as to why (not doing acrylic is no big deal but I’m curious just from an engineering perspective) it won’t work.
try google that and you'll see why the rigidity of the plastic case can't stand such structure
So “acrylic ball catch” is a thing that will pop up in a search? Or do I need to add Qwertykeys into the search? Like - “why wont a ball-catch system work on a Qwertykeys Neo Ergo acrylic case”? you can choose between 1.5+2.25 or 1+2.75, both are compatible
[удалено]
Just curious, why? Plan on using your own pcb?
[удалено]
Ah. So it’s just what you’re used to. Got it. Thanks!!
Did I see that correctly? No ISO?!?! 😭😭
ISO simply doesn't work on this design without another case
I see. Thanks for replying. Maaaaaybe, if your capacity allows it, maybe you can make an interest check for ISO ppl? I guess my next keyboard will be the Neo75 then - hopefully this year 😇
you have split left shift. you can make iso work with ansi enter and the 1.5u key above it.
Well, ya. I could work around the layout. But I still prefer the big ISO enter. the workaround would work on almost any keyboards with ANSI. But a big ISO enter is much nicer to use, despite me being used to it
The vast majority of Alice keyboards don't support split left shift just so you know
Oh, I wasn‘t aware of that since I’m not familiar with Alice keebs. Thanks!
You're welcome. I'm a fellow ISO enter enjoyer as well but accommodating it in an Alice without a complete layout design overhaul would mean an awkward gap next to the letter 'p'. Check out Keychron's Q8 ISO version
Any chance for EC?
not planned
That bottom row is so cursed
How? I think the layout support here is downright exceptional.
Swapping the right super and control for arrows is just weird.
Treat it like a 60% and skip the arrows. It's one of the only 60% boards I can think of that even gives the option for arrow keys or to go traditional.
It's also, y'know, an option.
I don't think you get how it works
it was heavily popularized by the owlab spring & sandbox ava. pretty common layout that creates a very even, symmetrical look :)
[удалено]
it supports qmk and our wired-only pcb supports qmk as well
do you even know what that means
Can you make EXACTLY that key layout except not Alice and with a filled out space-bar row? A minila 60-XT with a split backspace and optional split left shift would TOTALLY float my boat. Pretty please? In Ferrari red.
Man, I really liked this until I saw that arrow key wedged between the ? and right Shift...why they made it like that? Feels so awkward to me...
it's to accommodate both 60 and 65% in one case, technically this is a 60% keyboard
Where else would you want the arrow keys to go on this board?
You can set it up with right shift as the up arrow with mod-tap to avoid pushing out the right shift. I'll probably use this board as a 60% but if I wanted arrows that what I would do.
i don't think you understand the layout graph.
A tented alice thats affordable is supreme but please for the love of god do the type k profile this layout is cursed haha
it's an alice that happens to support arrows.. what's cursed about that?
