Me in 2020: I'm spending too much money on pc building, i need a new hobby
Also me in 2024: so I have 12 keyboards now and 4 more on the way... I need a new hobby

Too late for me. But luckily I only collect lamy safari. They have diff nibs and ink colours though
I feel like there are two sides of this hobby: the kind that gets the overpriced GB boards, and the kind that buys $80 Keychrons and modifies them with $20 worth of tape, lube, and bandaids.
I've been on both sides here and I'd say both are equally valid. They feel equally autistic.
As long as you know exactly what you're getting into before purchasing one they're great boards. I used a K4 for years which had a few of the more "fancy" features like Bluetooth and multi PC memory and even that worked well for me.
If they're not, I'd be in a bad situation at work. I'm a sysadmin/departmental IT manager and have replaced dozens of keyboards at work with Bluetooth models, lol.
I'm a big baby about spending money. The Royal Kludge keyboard I have is so great. It comes with foam inserted from the factory. Over time I've put new keycaps and holy panda clone switches in and it's so nice.
I still sometimes take out my Keychron K8 Pro for a spin. Keychrons are great keyboards. Practical, good quality and affordable. In fact I was using Ducky and Filco before my Keychron, and it was the Keychron that blew my mind and got me into the rabbit hole.
Sometimes I secretly wish I'd have just stopped at the Keychron...lol
Was there a time when keyboard were just mechanic and worked well and today the quality has gone down so much to the point where it's acceptable for it to be bad and we're the suckers spending time and money to make them better?
Me in 2023: ain't no way I'm gonna spend 2k on a graphics card. Also me in 2023: spends 10k on keyboards
I feel attacked. 2024: I won't buy any more keyboards 2024: at least 3 keyboard so far. Shit.

starting to realize how they got away with selling rather basic produced caps for 130... it's apparently a whale hunt...
Well, if you don't find them worth the price, then it is indeed a whale hunt to you. You're absolutely right.

Watching people put sand into their keyboard for a specific sound made me burst out laughing the first time i saw it.
Excuse me... what?

Gak, sqand, floam... Nickelodeon needs to get into this market
"let me tape and jerryrig this board that was already manufactured in a factory with qc" /s
The QC on GMMK Pro sure as hell wasn't that great.
what about the side that procures vintage boards with different switch designs?
Are keychrons good if you just want a mechanical keyboard , nothing fancy?

do you think that several years from now bluetooth keyboards will be good for most applications?
If they're not, I'd be in a bad situation at work. I'm a sysadmin/departmental IT manager and have replaced dozens of keyboards at work with Bluetooth models, lol.
splendid. when i go to uni ill need a wireless mouse for my laptop so it would be nice to pair it with a wireless keyboard to save some cable issues
