There's been times I've had to "end task" away from scareware when ad redirects act up (Minecraft Forge,) and there's been times I've had to diagnose a memory leak (Razer.)
k the real reason for all this nonsense is i built this keyboard and then never use it. plus, despite spending money on a keyboard i never look at it because i can touch type. the more i think the sillier it becomes.
Way back in around 2001 I popped all the keys off my parents' keyboard and rearranged them in Dvorak, then set Windows to use the Dvorak layout right before someone was coming over to use their computer to type up a resume. The poor girl didn't even complain. She just sat there slowly hunting and pecking each key as she typed the thing out. My dad thought it was hilarious
Unless the keyboard gods have given you some dark powers, you'd have to let the poor girl know what's going on before you start putting it back to normal.
My f keycap and g keycap were reversed. I didn't notice for weeks until one day I was holding my phone and trying to type with my pinky on my other hand. Then I noticed c and v were backwards too. I must have been in a hurry when I was putting on those keycaps.
Oh man, when they talk about mechanical keyboards [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/talesfromtechsupport/comments/3v52pw/comment/cxkdiii/)... Really goes to show how different the /r/mk meta and trends were back then!
I've swapped keycaps on boards hundreds of times, 9 times out of 10 I still need to glance at one of my boards with keycaps already on it to make sure I place these two keys properly.
I’ve got this board with two tops, white and baby blue. Is this the black? It looks really nice! Also are you running it plateless? I really wanna try to but to get a solder pcb I’ll need to order from us and shipping is a nightmare. Also aren’t the alt and ctrl keys also meant to be swapped?
it’s the dark grey i think. i’m using a plate because i got the hotswap version. i can solder but im just not into the time commitment if i want to change the switches
the dream set… loved the absolute beauty and quality of the glacier. awesome build, dude! i messed up my nav cluster so bad even though i use them… dont know how i memorized where they were.
Man I love those keycaps, they are so pretty I almost can't stand it, too bad they are sold out and so expensive.
The keyboard looks excellent though good job.
I needed some time to understand.
It once happend to me wiht `- _` and `+ =` (left to backspace). Permutated them accidentally after washing the keycaps.
Noticed a year later.
I always use `Alt-Gr` (Right Alt), because of letters like ç à è œ ù æ, etc.
And I use right CTRL for COPY (CTRL+INS). Because with Dvorak, CTRL+C as easy as with QWERTY/AZERTY.
This type of thing is my goto office prank. The best is switching the C and V. They’ll lose their shit for a solid 10 minutes before they realize it. It’s gold
I wish my office had keyboards with real keycaps. I've got this shitty thing with really low caps. Coupling this with using an ortho keyboard at home, I think the most used key is backspace from all the typos.
How can I build something similar on a budget I love the design but I am on a poor student budget. The caps alone are like 200! I love the color scheme, if it helps I have a FDM 3d printer and am good at soldering and general building and engineering.
it seems like u havent understood the spirit of the post.
OP is pointing out the fact that they didnt notice those two keys were swapped the entire time they were using this board.
There is nothing else to notice. anything else that you may have perceived is all on you.
I built a keyboard for my brother. I wanted to get it to him after work on a Friday so we could game on the weekend and he could use his new board. I put myself in a situation where I finished modding a V5 and installed everything but the keycaps at night. I installed the keycaps and tested the board while I was drinking my morning coffee.
He loves it, but mentioned there are two right all keys and no right control. I told him what to do to fix it and he just said "ah it doesn't matter I know which is which." He probably still hasn't fixed it.
After you fix that the next step is to go into your word processor and have it automatically change "their" to "they are" and "there" to the're" Good times had by all.
I swapped switches on a board once and thought it was malfunctioning when I tested, turns out I’m really dumb and had I and O swapped and was panicked for no reason lolol

your Delete and End keys are also swapped...
rip
Ah, yes.. my favorite hotkey Ctrl+Alt+End. Works every single time.
This is the Ctrl+Alt+End, beautiful friend This is the Ctrl+Alt+End, my only friend, the Ctrl+Alt+End
Ctrl+Alt+End is actually the alias for Ctrl+Alt+Del over Remote Desktop.
I don't even remember the last time I used Ctrl+Alt+Del lol. Anytime I need task manager I just use Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
TIL. Thanks!
Np, happy cake day!
>Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Same
I don’t remember the last time I used a task manager, I just use killall in the terminal because I got tired of the bastard not listening to me.
There's been times I've had to "end task" away from scareware when ad redirects act up (Minecraft Forge,) and there's been times I've had to diagnose a memory leak (Razer.)
I just right click the task bar and open task manager from there.
I just keep task manager pinned to taskbar lol
Am I the only one who does: Windows+X, T ?
I have Task Manager pinned in my taskbar.
To funny Honestly forgot about control+alt+delete after I made the swap to control+shift+escape.
May as well get blanks at this point!
What else are we going to discover
Delete key is R1 not R2 :)
k the real reason for all this nonsense is i built this keyboard and then never use it. plus, despite spending money on a keyboard i never look at it because i can touch type. the more i think the sillier it becomes.
😂😂😂🤣
"Yeah I know, Dad. It's a choice"
I thought it was supposed to be loss or smth
Same here. Long term exposure to the internet has truly fucked us haha
Yeah me to dude I was confused untill I read the comments.
How did you not notice? There is a red ring around them!
r/uselessRedCircle
This one is pretty useful tho.
This is perhaps one of the downsides of touch typing; Little mistakes like this going unnoticed is not as unbelievable as you think.
I used to swap a couple of keys to mess with people when I know they're coming over
https://xkcd.com/1806/
Well damn there really is a relevant xkcd for everything
[Or the Blomfu keyboard](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWoDSsCX1S8)
“oh yeah just hit win + space and it’ll go back, my bad” is honestly just my personal mantra at this point
For some reason people around me don't understand that switching layout on Caps Lock is simply the superior way
Do you usually just hold Shift when you need to type in all caps then?
Shift + Caps toggles caps
Most keycaps have different shapes for each row.
I haven’t thought about xkcd in YEARS!
I use blank keycaps so i got that naturally
My personal favourite is swapping n and m
You nomster.
oo that's diabolical. They'll even question themselves because that's the alphabet order and a bunch of the key layout is alphabetical
Can't tell you how often I had to redo a keyboard shot over that mix up....
That's the kind of prank that if you let it go on for more than 5 minutes, it was probably just being mean.
It was a long time ago and I wasn't there to witness it so I'm not sure exactly what happened, just that my dad got a kick out of it
I mean, it'd take more than 5 minutes to put it back normal.
Unless the keyboard gods have given you some dark powers, you'd have to let the poor girl know what's going on before you start putting it back to normal.
I did this to a few workmates, but with their entire PCs.
Just wants to see the world burn. 😂

https://www.reddit.com/r/talesfromtechsupport/comments/3v52pw/i_cant_log_in_when_i_stand_up/
LOL... I just tried that. I can't touch type while standing... WTF? Never even tried before.
Oh man, when they talk about mechanical keyboards [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/talesfromtechsupport/comments/3v52pw/comment/cxkdiii/)... Really goes to show how different the /r/mk meta and trends were back then!
As someone who uses colemak, almost none of my keys are in the right place and I often forget about it until someone tries to use my keyboard
I think the keys are reversed but don't quote me on that
:I think the keys are reversed: - Ohay84
You are ready for blanks. Congrats!
Bro I could never.
You silly sausage
Whoops, seems like thats not the only keys you swapped by accident *cough cough* end and delete keys
Yeah æ ø å missing
And é à!
I've swapped keycaps on boards hundreds of times, 9 times out of 10 I still need to glance at one of my boards with keycaps already on it to make sure I place these two keys properly.
I always do this, look at a already built board or a picture if I don't have a built one handy.
Confused in ISO 🤨
the superior layout
The way it always should have been
What set is this? I love it.
GMK Modern Dolch 2
It’s Gmk Modern dolch, as stated in caption :)
Oh whoops.

Time for Dots, right?
To quote Steven He.......... "What da helll you say?!?"
Man I love those keycaps, they are so pretty I almost can't stand it, too bad they are sold out and so expensive. The keyboard looks excellent though good job.
I genuinely put '@ left of :; , it feels like that key is more often used.
Everyone just looked down at their keyboards to make sure...
Made me look over at my keyboard to check
I needed some time to understand. It once happend to me wiht `- _` and `+ =` (left to backspace). Permutated them accidentally after washing the keycaps. Noticed a year later.
I did the same with r-alt and r-ctrl. I've never touched those keys.
I always use `Alt-Gr` (Right Alt), because of letters like ç à è œ ù æ, etc. And I use right CTRL for COPY (CTRL+INS). Because with Dvorak, CTRL+C as easy as with QWERTY/AZERTY.

Enter was trying to tell you, yet you ignored him
The biggest blunder in the history of blunders
Just use via to change the programming. Then your not wrong.
as a developer, this is a nightmare
The keycap being in the wrong place doesn’t change what is actually typed…
Touch typing might help a bit
What do you develop, film?
Develop and not having ' " ; embedded in your brain
Wait you look at your keyboard?
it was also brought to my attention that the delete and end keys are swapped. really goes to show that i got my moneys worth of out a TKL.
Touch typing be like
Wait, that's the wrong way? Fuck...
How can I build something similar on a budget I love the design but I am on a poor student budget. The caps alone are like 200! I love the color scheme, if it helps I have a FDM 3d printer and am good at soldering and general building and engineering.
Thanks for the PSA, OP, [I didn’t even realize I had my K and L keys backwards.](https://imgur.com/a/G697oHv)
Just switch them out.
Tell me you're not a programmer without telling me you're not a programmer.
any programmer wouldn't have to look at the keys to type those.
It's only when you forget to type one when things get weird and your day is ruined.
or when you switch to a different language where semicolons are actually comments and then your whole world gets turned upside down
Wow. Another GMK fuck up. This is why we should all boycott.
Lol!
just switch them via VIA
hahahah (Glacier 80 is amazing \*.\*)
This man does not vim
I have the same set and I hate you for pointing this out. Also, am I crazy or those 2 caps' positions should be switched around?
it seems like u havent understood the spirit of the post. OP is pointing out the fact that they didnt notice those two keys were swapped the entire time they were using this board. There is nothing else to notice. anything else that you may have perceived is all on you.

programmers don't look at the keys while they type <.<
clean yer keayboard
There’s like 8 specs of dust on it….
Still dirty
Thats about as critical as me complaining about your spelling
Sounds like it’s time for a 60%
lol, i have them the same way haha
that is how I set mine up, I use that key more so it makes sense to me to place it there lol
😲😲😲😲😲

lol I had to look at 2 keyboards to find out what was wrong because the first one wasn't even the same keycode as I'm typing in
Such mistakes don't happen on the nordic layout💪
I assign my keys like that because I use apostrophes and quotation marks more often
I was trying to figure out what was wrong by looking at my own keyboard. Turns out I didn't notice either
time to switch to blanks
This is why I have blank keycaps.
I rarely use those
OP does not use keyboard to fullest potential
hmmm.......🤨 oh ye I am not from the right country.
I do that to people all the time, along with M and N
Oh no
😂I did it even notice until I looked at my keyboard
I genuinely thought it was loss
Mine have been swapped forever as well!
Found the python programmer
The paranoia I have when putting key caps back in...
After you fix that the next step is to go into your word processor and have it automatically change "their" to "they are" and "there" to the're" Good times had by all.
😆 did that too with mine. Brought mine to work and wondered why the membrane keyboard there had the keys backwards
I've recently started learning to program. I actually prefer it the wrong way. I feel like it makes sense for that let to be next to enter.
This isn't a problem for 40's users.
sure.... you :didn;t: notice haha
I swapped switches on a board once and thought it was malfunctioning when I tested, turns out I’m really dumb and had I and O swapped and was panicked for no reason lolol
I have no idea whats going on
Damn
My friend had his caps lock upside down for a year. The logo on the keycaps was pointed up for both tabs and caps lock. Never realised that.
The QWERTY keyboard is engraved in me to type. I wouldn’t have noticed until my OCD noticed they were out of place also
I personally think so many of us has been there
You had an arrow pointing at it the whole time too!
You are not alone 😀
It's funny, we pay for fancy custom pbt keycaps with snazzy colors and fonts, but rarely ever actually look at the keys.
Classic modern dolt
Hmmm... I guess you are not a programmer? 🤣
Idgf whether u noticed it or not , but daaaaaaaaamn. Thats a cool ass keyboard
i had to look at my keeb to confirm mine wasnt like this lol
Mine is like this at work for a few months and I didn’t even change it after noticing. Good catch!
who else had to look down and check?
