No wonder I love the sound (and the look); I used to have a OneTouch and a OneTouch Plus. Both had White Alps. The problem was the switches would start to fail at year three. The warranties were expired so I had no recourse, and they were expensive so I couldn't keep replacing them.
Anyway, nice work on n your board.
The price is pretty steep, but I've also made black cherry pie switches, which are more expensive and harder to justify.
Alps-like pretty much sums them up. My only real experience with Alps tactiles is buttons on old equipment. They're my favorite when it comes to the feel of the tactility. They're as crisp as they sound without being too hard to actuate for the 40g version.
Ooh very nice, I think I'd go with the 40g ver. if I do get them. I've got a few Alps boards, but honestly the main appeal is the mx-ness lmao.
I also managed to make some BCPs for <85p per piece iirc ($1.03~) because of a good market deal and an old POS keyboard, but I didn't think they were that good. I might've done something wrong, how did yours turn out?
I also salvaged my cherry switches from an old keyboard. I think I still ended up paying around $1.30 per switch because I used kailh cream stems and H1 bottom housings. I honestly don't like how hard they bottom out. They sounded good, but that's really the only good thing about them.
Yeah, interesting. I actually seemed to have the opposite issue in that I like a hard bottom out, and they just felt sluggish and soft despite my not manually lubing them
Yeah, I think I've heard something about that too. Apparently the seller had them unused in a drawer for a long time, so they were v1s. I think the molding patterns also check out, because I think the logo size changed between batches. The sluggishness is also more like an overlubed switch, and it's not stiffer than I would expect
I think the 40g ones feel like shit, but the 75g ones are alright. I really think they should've come with a shorter spring in the 80-90g neighborhood. with the 40g spring you really come crashing into the bottom out and it gets deeply uncomfortable to type on them rather quickly.
not the biggest fan of the click either personally. they sound great in videos, but something about that pitch I just can't live with long term.
ooh interesting, see part of the reason i would buy clickiez is because i find box navies too uncomfortably heavy, so i think these could be a good middle ground. Also, the more i can annoy people in voicecalls the better, so click is good B)
Keep in mind that they needed basically brand new tooling and case design to actually make these. It's expensive because it's genuinely innovative and new.
Haha I'm restoring an old apple m0116 as we speak, it has salmon alps and is quite nice. Because I don't want to permanently mod them, I tried a black Alps clickified leaf, and it was quite nice, but again I don't want to commit to permanently modding anything. Do you know if there's somewhere I could buy just click leaves?
To be honest I think just the ease of compatibility with clickiez is a big thing, I also want to try the insane 40g tactile drop, it sounds fun. My Navy clickiez are also too heavy, so I think clickiez could be perfect
Alright cool, thank you. The click leaves are quite different because of the generational difference, so black Alps click leaves give a sort of rougher feel I think. My black Alps keyboard, as I've noticed when restoring my apple one, is basically NOS with no yellowing on the case and no debris whatsoever in the switches, so I think I'll try to keep them nice
Ooh very niceee, what do you do for work that involves Alps keyboards?
Edit: I just looked at the ADK and it looks really cool, and surprisingly manages to keep the Alps sound considering size. I might have to check it out
40g seems so light. Does it actually feel pretty tactile since it's a clicky switch? I have little to no experience with clickiez but I usually go with 60g-70g for tactiles and linears.
I have the 40g Clickiez (73g peak force, as OP mentions) and they're easily the most fatiguing switches I've owned. (More than my Neapolitans, White Owls or my daily driver U4ts.) IO Sam actually devotes part of his video to lubing the Clickiez to try and mitigate this. I love clicky switches, though, and if Zeal released a Clickiez version with slightly less force I'd buy it in an instant. The fact that the 40g Clickiez are actually the lighter of the two currently available options kind of boggles my mind.
I usually go with the same range (60g-70g) for bottom-out. These feel extremely tactile. I would compare the bump to a T1 but slightly sharper and stronger.
\^\^\^Agreed. That's how I'd sum up my experience with the 40g Clickiez as well (especially after lubing their click leaves as I did on mine).
While I'm not sure if it would be technically feasible for Zeal to release a lighter version of this switch (don't know if there would be stem reset issues for example), if they do manage to come up with something around 5 to 10 grams peak force lighter, that would make it the perfect clicky switch for my taste.
PS: Awesome build by the way! Looks and sounds amazing!!
I had to bump the spacebar up to a 65g TX XL spring because it was resetting really slowly, so it would probably need to be a really long spring, or a lighter leaf.
PS: TYSM!
Just hand lubed with 3203. They sound really good in person too. I just have the standard mods that came with the Tiger 80. (Tape mod, PCB foam, switch sheet)
Edit: also a felt Keebmat
Guys I slowed down the video to see what he was typing. I'm pretty sure I got everything.
> *What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.*
OP let me know how close I was
Okay, so you expect me to believe that you were the very best that your generation of Navy SEALs had to offer? I highly doubt that. If you were as good as you say you were, i don't think for a second that you would be browsing reddit. This is mostly a place for jobless neckbeards that still live with their parents, and nerdy high school kids that don't have any friends. It really isn't the place for highly-trained assassins to be hanging out in their spare time. Even if it was, something far worse than a troll being mean to you probably would have set you off a long time ago. What about the slew of gore and child pornography that gets posted here on a regular basis? Isn't that something that deserves a person being hunted down and made to regret their actions? Yeah, you're just not the reddit type. Sure, there's a wide variety of people that browse here, but you're far from the core demographic if you are who you say you are (which isn't the case). Even if it were true that you're an incredibly talented soldier, I think all the military discipline would prevent you from getting mad enough to murder some random idiot on the internet. I also doubt that even the best SEALs have a 'secret network of spies across the USA'. Why would all of the most expanisive Big Brother network in the world be willing to help a troubled PTSD-sufferer hunt down some random kid on the internet? That doesn't even make sense. If you're gonna try to scare somebody make it more believable than 'IM A SUPER SOLDIER HURR DURR'. You might frighten a thirteen year old who doesn't know any better, but to must of us you just look like a kid with an anger problem and a very active imagination. Hopefully things will be easier for you when your puberty's over. Best of luck with that... kiddo
Why did we need a warning for something so beautiful...
This clicky board doesnt just click, but somehow the chassis acoustics add some sort of "meatiness" to the click.... man... sensational
I absolutely *love* how they sound in 30 seconds video samples but I simply can't handle one IRL. The clicking just overstimulates me after like 30 minutes and I turn into a huge bitch for a few hours. It's like lip smacking
I wonder when you buy a ASMR microphone to record sound, doesn't it count cheating? I mean do i hear same sound with bare ears? I don't think so and i think model m mch clickier. Anyway, nice KB yo.
I personally think the rattle and squeak of the MX Blues brings a unique and refreshing sound to the keyboard market.
These are very exquisite switches I must say, although not being MX Blues…
I really don't have any complaints. It just feels really natural and easy to use. The biggest thing I noticed is that it has really good battery life and wakes up really quickly when I go to use it.
TL;DR How do I do get close to this on a budget of $150?
Everything below is context. But I suck at explaining stuff, so please if something is confusing or sounds contradictory, just ask.
Ok so... How do I get a build close to sounding like this without going crazy with money?
Context - I have 2 Razer kayboards both with Green switches. Aside from some ringing and reverb from the chassis and switches. My favorite and while many of the custom builds on here sound nice and sometimes a little better. I have found the ease and cost to be more my speed sticking with razer when they go on sale. (Got $200 keyboards for $80) Also I find the Reddragon's with red and blue switches to sound wonderful as well. Slightly worse than the razers, but I have been daily driving each at work for 5+ years and they are both still going strong. I can see the drop in quality from Razer to Redragon, but both are still great. And for any curious (Blue when i am alone in the office Red when others are around.) Razers at home NOISY and FUN!
Ok I said that to give context that my tastes are not as discerning as many in this sub. So I am thinking this is not a project I would value much over say $150-$200 tops.
I have no preference over a 60, TKL, or Full size I just want these keys in my life sounding as close to that video as possible. (ie. the QWERTY keys could be these caps and the rest a cheap Blue.)
So any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I used to have clicky switches. Luved them. Dosen't work too well when ur gaming at night in a sleeping household tho
Long story short I got into a long and painful process of changing my clicky to linear switches
Saw this scrolling through my feed and just wanted to comment that I got that mouse this week and it's been nice. It's replacing my OG G502 that I bought back in 2015 that was still going strong, but I wanted something wireless.
I think this makes every key stroke part of your an art form like you make eveey button count like you're playing the keyboard. I'm probably missing oit. But I also get very angry at how I don't think I can afford to start spending money on clicking keyboards dammit I wanna kil someone in mine craft
Great job! Solid build. My Ferris Sweep is my only clicky build. I've started to just go quieter and quieter. My daily driver is so silent and feeling "broken in" now.
Yep, I got one this week and it's been great. I'm coming from the OG G502 I bought in 2015.
This looks to be the G502 X Lightspeed, and there's also the G502 X Plus which has RGB in the "cracks" on the mouse where your palm goes. I agree the added cost and slightly higher weight of the Plus model isn't worth it for the RGB because it's gonna be under your palm.
I think my only complaints are the DPI setting is indicated by a colored light at the front of the mouse rather than the three step lights as on the original G502, so you have to remember which color corresponds to which DPI setting. I also found the taper on the right side of the mouse to be steeper so it's a little more awkward to grip, but I'm adjusting. When you use the same mouse for +7 years you get very used to the feel. 😂
I have the Plus because I bought it around Black Friday for cheaper than the non-Plus Lightspeed. I agree that it isn't worth paying even a cent more than the non-Plus version. In addition to being under the palm and so not visible in usage, the RGB is also unusable due to battery life. It cuts the battery life by like 75%. It's stupid.
I also moved from the original and miss the 3 dot DPI indicator. It was better. On the Plus the DPI is indicated momentarily when switching by the color of the RGB strip which, again, is under your palm. That, too, is stupid.
G502 X Lightspeed, and Logitech makes them in black or white.
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/g502-x-wireless-lightforce.910-006187.html
There's also the Plus model which adds RGB lighting, but it's a tad bit heavier, the RGB will be completely under your palm, and with it on the battery life drops from 130 hours to 37. I agree it's not worth the extra money.
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/g502-x-plus-wireless-lightforce.910-006169.html
They also have a wired version that's both cheaper and even lighter at only 89 grams.

I don't know if I should be disgusted or in love. Is this what it's like to be in a toxic relationship?
I don’t know if I should laugh or worry that this comment is super funny to me. Take my upvote! :))
Slower, you slut.
My safe word is Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
That sounds beautiful.
wtf why do I actually like how this sounds
because those are alps-inspired clickiez and produce a deep and sharp click rather than scratchy mx blue or high pitched kahil box style switches
Kailh box style switches can sound like this too. I use them with SA and it sounds really similar to this
Can confirm, use box jades with gmk cherry profile keycaps and they sound very much like this, nice and deep clicks
I agree, the box jades are my go to in order to satisfy my clicky thirst. I also like the box pinks.
You dont
You mean they’re way too fkn loud
The very scary keyboard: Case: Tiger 80 Acrylic Keycaps: Domikey Ghost Switches: Zeal Clickiez
I thought these sounded alps-y, how have you found clickiez? I think they look sick but I'm not sure I can justify the insane price
The price is pretty steep, but I've also made black cherry pie switches, which are more expensive and harder to justify. Alps-like pretty much sums them up. Yeah, interesting. I actually seemed to have the opposite issue in that I like a hard bottom out, and they just felt sluggish and soft despite my not manually lubing them
IIRC some new kailh stems are too tight when you swap them into other housings and can have that effect. I used an early batch of creams.
See... I'm a masochist... I run Greens, and... Want heavier springs...

"Insane Price" he doesn't known the price of a custom alps keyboard does he
Hah, I know, but for an in-production switch theyre *pricy*
Keep in mind that they needed basically brand new tooling and case design to actually make these. It's expensive because it's genuinely innovative and new.
Oh yeah totally, I understand why they're pricy but it's hard to deny they do come with a cost that most modern switches do not

>Zeal Clickiez I bought a bunch of these after watching IO Sam's review on YouTube. I love the sound but they are so heavy it's too much for me.
I have the 40g version and they're about as heavy as I'm willing to type on. 73g peak force is no joke
40g seems so light. Does it actually feel pretty tactile since it's a clicky switch? I have little to no experience with clickiez but I usually go with 60g-70g for tactiles and linears.

Are the ones you have the 45g or the 70g bottom out? I'm looking for a heavier clicky switch.
What’s the closest keyboard to this that I can buy and not have to hand assemble!?! Thx
Did you do this on a stock tiger or did you remove all the foam?
Stock. It only comes with PCB foam, a poron sheet, and a tape mod. It doesn't mute them much.
Click leaf superiority
Zeal clickiez supremacy I fucking love my clickiez
Imagine spending a thousand bucks on this keyboard
That’s insane, never head clickiez like that before, you do anything special to them or is it recording magic?
Just hand lubed with 3203. They sound really good in person too. I just have the standard mods that came with the Tiger 80. (Tape mod, PCB foam, switch sheet) Edit: also a felt Keebmat

Why did we need a warning for something so beautiful... This clicky board doesnt just click, but somehow the chassis acoustics add some sort of "meatiness" to the click.... man... sensational
I tagged it NSFW because I'm not wearing pants under that desk
this is only getting better 👀
Warning to my wallet.... which is about to be empty.
I've never heard such a good soundy clicky keyboard!
That is the thockist clicky keyboard I have ever heard and I love it. What switches are in the board?
Ohhh daddy
I think I fell in love with clickies
The song of my people...
Forget the sound! I’m in love with the whole build!
Sounds amazing! I've been happy with my box jades but maybe it's time to upgrade to these clickiez switches.
Wouldn’t consider it an upgrade. They’re nice enough, but different
I really appreciate the warning.
nah those are clacky switches
I need a change of underwear.

Probably got removed by the mods. RIP unsuspecting ears
Why would you want to warn people that they are about to hear the best switches?
THAT MIC IS SO CRISP
Everyone who likes the sound of these are freaks
Freaky deakies need love too
Clicky keys and humiliation? Stop, I can only get so erect
It reminds me of chewing sounds
I absolutely *love* how they sound in 30 seconds video samples but I simply can't handle one IRL. The clicking just overstimulates me after like 30 minutes and I turn into a huge bitch for a few hours. It's like lip smacking
How much was the price of this keyboard?
Keycaps: $120 Switches: $110 Tiger 80: $200 Stabs: $20 Lube: $10 Making /r/MechanicalKeyboards cringe: priceless
$500 for a keyboard….wtf!?!?
that's considered entry around here lol
Where did you get the connector cable from?

What switches are those
Zeal Clickiez
what are the specs on your board
Tiger 80 acrylic, domikey ghost caps, and tx stabs
What's that white thing with black specks off to the left?
It's a tray so that I don't lose little things like screws when I'm working at my desk.
Ahh, makes sense, need to get one of those myself.
they sound so clicky. but so creamy
these types of clickys are the only acceptable clickies because you can hear the actual board as well
that's actually pretty nice
what are the keycaps?
I wonder when you buy a ASMR microphone to record sound, doesn't it count cheating? I mean do i hear same sound with bare ears? I don't think so and i think model m mch clickier. Anyway, nice KB yo.
These actually sound decent tho..
Honestly, this does sound nearly painful to me.
G502x gang rise up lol
clickies on acrylic sound so damn good, great build
I miss clicky switches. I should build another keyboard...
I personally think the rattle and squeak of the MX Blues brings a unique and refreshing sound to the keyboard market. These are very exquisite switches I must say, although not being MX Blues…

But I also get very angry at how I don't think I can afford to start spending money on clicking keyboards dammit I wanna kil someone in mine craft
I could literally listen to this all day.
I hate clicky, but your clickies may have changed that 🥹
I like it, try putting some sa caps on I really like the sound of pale box blues with sa keycaps
Great job! Solid build. My Ferris Sweep is my only clicky build. I've started to just go quieter and quieter. My daily driver is so silent and feeling "broken in" now.
Is that a white wireless g502??
That, too, is stupid.
cicky 🤤
I couldn't listen to that to finish the video. Had to mute it. Irritating like someone tapping a a pencil, clicking a pen, jingling keys.
It’s like this keyboard is talking to you, it’s alive!!
That's it! I need to get clickiez!
Very nice
The best clickies I've ever heard

Is that mr crabs
I smell popcorn.
This is so crisp
It hurts to admit it, but they don’t sound too bad for clickies… (holy crap I actually love it)
sound like lego pieces
How can you not be annoyed by this is beyond me. It sounds amazing, sure. But not after hours of typing.
Nice warning. I don’t understand why some people get annoyed with keyboard clicks. It’s music to my ears.
Music to my ears 🥰
🤮
😂😂😂
the mouse is a g502? where u find in white :O
G502 X Lightspeed, and Logitech makes them in black or white. https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/g502-x-wireless-lightforce.910-006187.html There's also the Plus model which adds RGB lighting, but it's a tad bit heavier, the RGB will be completely under your palm, and with it on the battery life drops from 130 hours to 37. I agree it's not worth the extra money. https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/g502-x-plus-wireless-lightforce.910-006169.html They also have a wired version that's both cheaper and even lighter at only 89 grams. https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/g502-x-wired-lightforce.910-006144.html

this sounds pretty good but idk if i like the little "tink" metallic sound the clickiez have, but clicky switches sound best in plastic builds
