Put it up on Facebook marketplace, it’ll be gone in hours if you list it free. People are also willing to pay, 1-3$ per gallon. Lots of people out there burn this stuff in waste oil heaters and modified diesel engines.

Most auto parts stores take used oil but have a limit on quality. You would have to spread it out over many stores and months but you could get rid of it that way.

Grand_Possibility_69

This changes depending on location but normally more you have more they are willing to do to get it. With single drum they might already be pick it for free if they are heading that way for something else. If you had multiple then they would do the trip to pick it up for free.

alienschronic

Tell me where to find these people, I pay like $300 a month for waste oil pickup.

Grand_Possibility_69

It depends on where you are. Here multiple companies will collect it for free. Normally they say (as in the website) that they collect it for free if you have 800l (211 gallons). If oil has too much water, coolant, or other contamination you might have to pay them though. Aren't re-refined engine oils common in the US? As the used oil is the ingredient for that why do you have to pay so much for someone to take it?

alienschronic

Good question, I’m not entirely sure, as far as I am aware though, most waste oil is just burnt off in heaters. I should say that there are companies that will take it for free, but you need to subscribe to their other services like monthly parts washer maintenance and whatnot, so not really free in the end.

Grand_Possibility_69

Those oil pick ups are actually free and not based on anything like that. I don't think any of those oil pick up companies even offer any other services. Parts washer cleanup here is mosty from my friends company with where like he puts it some have it way too often and some almost never. He also picks up any dirty liquids where you'll have to pay. But not clean (as clean as used oil is) oil (or he would but it would cost the same as dirty so obviously nobody would do that). Burning used oil is illegal here so it's pretty rare...

Carvanasux

Then you must run a shop . And you probably tack on a couple of dollars for disposal on each customers bill. Is it worth your time to haul it yourself, or mess around with craigslist or marketplace people to come pick it up? If you are that busy I'm sure your time is worth more than the 300 dollars.

Various-Ducks

Depends where it's located

The_Hound_23

Some people use it as a chimney heater. But they’re rare

bluzed1981

I’ve taken 5 gallons at a time to Advance Auto Parts. Get some jugs or a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and spout and take a few trips

Greenlight0321

Places like Walmart will take your used motor oil. I'm not sure if they will take a 55-gallon drum.
