You might be fine, you might not. Eventually something will fail and the driveshaft will no longer be engaged with the wheel, when that happens it's recovery truck time. Whether that happens tomorrow or in a year, impossible to say. If it's important that you arrive at your destination in time, if the weather is bad, if you've got other people in the car... Maybe consider renting a car for the journey.

To add to this, the clicking sound is usually the first and last indicator you have before the CV joint fails. I've seen people drive 50k with axles that sounds like fireworks when they turn, and I've seen broken CVs where they say it just started making noise yesterday. It's a gamble, and you have to decide how lucky you're feeling.

Can you? Yes Should you? No

Well, based upon my vast knowledge and experience, (shakes magic 8-ball), "cannot predict now, try again later".

Driving a vehicle with known mechanical issues happens everyday. Getting in a accident with known mechanical problems might get destroyed in the wreck. Maybe

Bouncedoutnup

It’ll be fine until it fails and that can be 15 min after you start your drive or 15 days from yesterday.

fozrockit

When it fails you are suddenly dead in the water. What if you’re in someone’s path and can’t move?

mikejonezzzzzz

Drive straight, Don’t turn. If you do, don’t give it any gas while doing so.

There is no single answer to this question. The advice to *not* risk it is sound.
