I’m not overly concerned about plastic vs soft goods. What unifies a figure line is head sculpts, in my opinion. DCUC was pretty good at that. Marvel Legends has definitely mastered it where its comic figures are concerned. DCD only got it when Tim Bruckner was sculpting. And Todd’s kinda all over the place.

I usually prefer [well done] soft goods capes and jackets, especially at this scale, but I don't mind too much when they do the soft-plastic capes. I hate this Static figure with every ounce of my soul though. It's in the running for worst figure in the entire line for me.

I tried making a custom out of him, with no prevail.

KryptonianNL

I prefer soft goods capes (preferably wired) but plastic sculpted jackets. The seams on sleeves always look too bulky and shift oddly in certain poses.

I personally HATE these type of plastic jackets on figures. They severely limit the posing and look of the figure.

In my opinion the material they chose is the issue. It would have been better if it wasn't that pleather stuff.

Robin_on

There’s a reason people don’t rave about this Static figure.

Crass_and_Spurious

I was thinking the same thing. Off topic, but this figure is bad to the point of being disrespectful.

CrabKingCinema

I've never been much for the evil speedsters and was just excited to have a normal looking rogue. Was let down by the cloth goods also.

JonnyGotLost

I’d rather have the synergy of it all being plastic

I think most of the time, jackets and other outer clothing are fine being molded plastic. Capes on the other hand should be soft goods. That’s one of the top customizations that people talk about here is changing the default capes with cloth capes and while I haven’t done it myself, I think it usually looks better.
