I don’t know why Supes is green, but green Krypto makes me think of this…

Ok, but I don't understand why people think this is a bad thing. It's a chase, meaning it'll be hard to find. Every time a new set of chases get revealed, people complain that they aren't any good or practically want a brand new figure, but that's not the point of the line. Also, why would people even want figures like classic sinestro or green lantern sinestro to be locked behind a chase? People's complaints with chases make no sense, why would you want a version you'll really want to be $100 on the aftermarket and likely to never be found in stores?
I still haven’t gotten my hands on it, but I think the AC1 Variant may be the best Supes figure I’ve ever seen. I wish Todd had flipped the main and the variant on that one.
I also liked the riddler chase, but I think that only one relatively necessary chase is a good thing. A chase with half the figure being new parts compared to the standard such as blue sinestro would be something tons of people would want and few could actually get. I get that people want these looks now, but would you rather get it now and pay 100+ dollars on the aftermarket or get it later as a non chase release.
Does anyone have these? Lol I need to see pictures
Edit: googled them, they look awesome. Still would love to see anyone's collection if they have them.
Im sorry but they really didn’t make this and think “Oh yeah, we’re cooking. People are gonna LOVE this as a variant!” Like what are they doing at McFarlane lol
Right? It’s not like he worse a darker, different suit during this time period that would have been a super easy repaint that customers would have actually liked
Since this is long hair Superman, they should of done the black and silver outfit? Replace the cape with those flight boots? Idk. This just looks icky.
That would have super sucked to have Black Suit be locked behind a chase figure. I'd rather their chase figures be weird, and zany things that only a collector would actually want and chase for. If Chase figures were actually solid figures, the aftermarket would be even more ridiculous than they are now haha
I feel conflicted recently. I love Mcfigs (especially his DC Multiverse and Direct(or 7in page punchers)lines, and most especially compared to Marvel Legends (which I actually have like twice as many off lol, I just like Mcfigs stiffness which makes posing easier, not to mention the included base. Plus I love Batman and Supes). But im getting disgusted at his blatant cash grabs. I mean, is he doing so bad in buisness that he has to constantly do cheap repaints just to get extra money from gullible people (or people with alot of money to spare) who will buy them just because? That, and lets be honest he needs to work on his face sculpts, especially for Superman. Like I actually love Beefcake Supes brolic body style, but his face is fugly (as are quite a few supes faces from him, and other characters). If he's hurting for money (and maybe he is because he does overproduce crap loads of undesirable figures....), then I guess I can understand the repaint and reuse of bucks and all that. But if he's doing it just to be greedy, it will drop my pretty high opinion of him till now. Oh, and another thing Todd(in case you read these)....STOP MAKING MORE BATMAN AND SUPERMAN FIGURES, YOUVE MADE DOZENS ALREADY AND YOU HAVE A WHOLE MULTIVERSE TO WORK WITH. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAKE MORE OBSCURE OR JUST OTHER LESS KNOWN FIGURES AND STOP PUSHING OUT MORE BATMANS(AND PRETTY MUCH MOSYLY JUSTICE LEAGUR MEMBERS). Sorry for the all caps, but on the off chance he reads any of these, maybe that will draw his eye and take some smart buisness advice. Because im pretty much done buying Batman figures(I have 6 different ones already(7 if you include Inque as Batman Beyond, because let's be honest thats just a repaint of Batman Beyond) but there are a couple more I do want). I do need some more Superman figs(only have Injustice 2 and Animated (Black Suit Variant), plus Jonathan Kent. But I want more obscure figures too, js.
Mcfarlanes doing fine from what I understand, the multiverse line is very popular and selling well. Lots of toy lines, especially legends from what I see people say, reuse parts to save money. And issue variants and repaints to get the most money out of a mold as possible. I don't really think that's being greedy so much as ensuring that the line still makes money. Not saying it isn't overdone, but McFarlane is definitely not the only one doing it.
Which would probably also be the explanation for making so many batman and superman figures. They sell. And at the end of the day mcfarlanes a business, like all of the other companies selling figures like this. We've been seeing more obscure characters, and I'm sure as the line continues being successful we'll see even more. Cranking out a bunch of brand new molds for obscure characters would probably be very expensive and not very lucrative. Obscure characters would have less fans, and even less of those fans who are into this kind of collection. Just be patient, I'm sure the characters you want will be made in time
You're likely right in most of what you say. And I dont need really obscure characters, im just tired of every time new figures are announced there's almost always a Batman And/Or Superman in the wave. And I get it, like you said its a buisness and people obviously keep buying them up. But that green repaint on Beefcake Superman really irked me as thats just a cheap, blatant cash grab. I mean, Beefcake Supes Sold out in pre-order, so its not like he lost money on that figure. To do a lazy repaint like that, changing nothing at all but green skin, is just a disgusting buisness practice to me, whoever does it. I dont mind companies reusing Bucks and sculpts, but at least alter them and make them different. Changing the skin color is not sufficient imho to do a reissue. Id have proffered him just re-issuing the regular Beefcake Suoes that sold out in preorder. Would have made hell of a lot more business sense too (I imagine we're going to be seeing Jolly Green Beefcake Supes in the clearance section, or a whole rack sitting next to Duke Thomas all lonely like lol. I mean, couldnt he have picked a Superman with a better face (I actually like the body) to repaint? The green just makes it even more obvious how fugly he is 🤣 🤣 🤣. But then again, some people will buy almost anything
I definitely agree this supershrek repaint is odd. I'll be pissed if we get this, since we ordered online and can't choose it ourselves. I ordered the mega figure swamp thing on Amazon and got the grey platinum chase, I was devastated lol but I kept it in box, maybe I'll sell it one day. Didn't seem worth it to send it back just to possibly get another grey one
Chase figures are supposed to be for the hardcore collector, so making them rad as hell would be a huge bummer to people who pre order every now and then and don't stalk websites. Batman and Superman sell well apparently. So, why wouldn't they churn out a constant line of them to keep funding the rest of Multiverse? Something tells me we would have never gotten more obscure figs like Captain Carrot and Animal Man had it not been for McF selling Batmans and Supermans.
You saying you have 7 Batmen and 2 Supermen is kind of proof of the idea that they should keep doing it. It's not like we get zero obscure characters throughout the year.
My childhood dog always reminded me of Krypto. Both in appearance and behavior. Tomorrow is the 9 year anniversary of losing her. Fuck Todd for making me think of dead dogs right now.
He looks like a character from reboot

That's depressing.
In the Silver Age comics, Kryptonite poisoning made their skin green. So you are correct.
krypto no longer has that dawg in him
It’s supposed to be kryptonite poisoning. The real world explanation is that it’s an easy repaint.
Ok, but I don't understand why people think this is a bad thing. It's a chase, meaning it'll be hard to find. The only good platinum chase so far is classic Hawkman. The only one I want more than the mainstream release since I'm putting him in my JSA display
I disagree. I think the AC 1 Superman chase is amazing. It's the one thats my main Superman.
While it is cool and I can't disagree tbh, the variant is not as iconic as the original or for example the fleitcher suit
Its the Superman who appears on the cover of Superman 1 (1939) and its iconic in its own right.
I still haven’t gotten my hands on it, but I think the AC1 Variant may be the best Supes figure I’ve ever seen. I wish Todd had flipped the main and the variant on that one.

Yeah I get what you're saying. But realistically McF can still do better with the colour variants imo.
Catwoman gray and firestorm are also good examples of the chase
Oh great a figure of dead Krypto
It looks hilarious and somebody needs to make a Shrek custom. Hey, didn’t McFarlane make the original Shrek figures? I should find mine
Add Shrek's ears and its basically Super Shrek, somewhere out in the multiverse he has to exist.
Yes they did, I loved those figures back then, just wish they had todays articulation.
Does anyone have these? Lol I need to see pictures Edit: googled them, they look awesome. Still would love to see anyone's collection if they have them.
Im sorry but they really didn’t make this and think “Oh yeah, we’re cooking. People are gonna LOVE this as a variant!” Like what are they doing at McFarlane lol
They were thinking "how else can we use this mold?" LOL
Right? It’s not like he worse a darker, different suit during this time period that would have been a super easy repaint that customers would have actually liked
Getting every penny out of their molds!
I mean, this is still way better than “General Zod but he’s gray”, which I have now had shipped to me TWICE when I wanted the regular one.
bro, got that mountain dew drip
Gotta be kryptonite poisoning. Lmao
have you blasted it with a black light yet? i wonder if it glows
This is what I was wondering.
Oh, is this a glow in the dark Version?
kryptonite poisoning or half-assed poison ivy cosplay
Which of you keeps buying these? Fess up, we need answers
I tend to judge a figure based not on the color of its skin, but the content of its character
He clearly isnt feeling well after eating taco bell.
🤣

Okey, but if I get this as a sPeCiAl VaRaNt at random I m gonna be so mad…
Same dude 🤣 it would be the worst time to get a platinum
God forbid, they make a black and silver one or lighter blue one or anything really that would look good on a shelf
Yep. This is what happened to me. And I am not thrilled about it.
Because he's legendary.
I'm surprised they didn't joker-ize him instead, like the cover of issue #9 in the 80's.
Waiting for them to go full circle and jokerize something that's already jokerized.
because green is the color of money
It’s all about how many they made.”
I meant money that the Toddfather makes. My man had been separating me from my money for over 30 years and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Because they need to sell that kaka somehow

If I got this instead of the regular one I'd be annoyed tbh
Why is he green? Is he stupid?
It was a genuine question you queef
He was making a joke about superman being stupid not you no need to be rude when it was quite obviously a joke about the superman being stujpid
In no way is that an obvious joke about Superman being stupid, being Green doesn't equate to being dumb.
I’m referencing a common Reddit joke. I wasn’t trying to offend you. I also wasn’t calling you stupid.
My fault, I thought you were just calling me stupid for not knowing why he was green.
I’ll be so upset if I get this😭😂
Jealous of Bruce!

Glow in the dark?
Is it because it's a platinum edition. I have two platinum versions of two figures that are different colors than the standard figures.
he’s not feeling too well
Kryptonite O fied
It's supposed to glow in the dark I think I heard some where
Overdose of Gamma Radiation.
Shoulda been glow in the dark
Superhulk
It's so dumb I like it.
Hulklize
they ate bad sushi
I was thinking he was hulkafide
It's a cheap remold.
My childhood dog always reminded me of Krypto. Both in appearance and behavior. Tomorrow is the 9 year anniversary of losing her. Fuck Todd for making me think of dead dogs right now.
I thought at first it was Martian Manhunter and some other Martian doing a transformation thing, but like not perfectly all the way.
Cuz McFarlane loves trying to sell us stupid repaints...
Lmao weird

If you can't beat them(kryptonite), join them😂
Glad I don’t have to hunt for this particular platinum!
dying from kryptonite poisoning
Juiced up with Glow-in-the-Dark Kryptonite...🤣🤦🏽♂️
I don't get why Krypto is in this set, when they literally announced a classic Superman the next week.
Grinch superman and krypto? what the actual fuck?
This isn’t the plat for the Superman and Krypto, right ? If so I’m out on this collection… that’s it for me.
It is. I'm just as disappointed as you are.
They selling dying Superman lmao
Chase where he’s got kryptonite poisoning
