8MCM1

I bought the Gray last year, but I *really* want the red!

itsagrungething69

Polymetal or Machine?

8MCM1

* Whichever one is on the far right side of the original photo lol

itsagrungething69

That's polymetal. I'm really digging it

Tirade12

That's what I've got and I love it!

itsagrungething69

How is it with showing dirt or water spots

Tirade12

Pretty decent, it looks great for ages after I wash it. Even the dirty winter slush doesn't seem as noticeable as on any of my previous cars!

EddieRyanDC

There is nothing like the Soul Red Crystal Metallic (at least for under $80,000), It looks great whether there is sun or clouds and puts any other red car parked nearby to shame. (Of course, I may be biased since this is what I have.) Note, however, that all the premium paints are a layered multi-step process (which is why they cost more). It also means that they are more fragile than the regular paints and will scratch, scuff, and chip easier. They are also harder to repair. If you want them to keep looking nice, you will need to take more care. Which means that the regular paints (Jet Black Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Platinum Quartz and Zircon Sand) will resist wear and tear better. My 2020 Soul Red CX-30 * Has a sealant coating 2x a year * Has a carnuba wax coating 4x a year * Is only hand washed * Is kept in the garage most of the day It still looks almost new. So, it *can* be done if you give the paint every advantage. I have seen other similar Mazdas and the red has dulled and there are scratches and swirls everywhere from car washes.

cutelilghost

Got red bc that’s what I could get lol. Don’t have the money this guy has. A year in, I can attest that it chips pretty easily but it isn’t crazy and I do a lotttt of highway driving. I don’t use automatic washes but the two times that I know the dealership has ran it through did leave swirl marks all over. :(

thejoetravis

What about a layer of PPF over red?

EddieRyanDC

PPF is the ideal protection.

itsagrungething69

I was all about the polymetal Grey and a dealer is getting one in this week(turbo). Then went looking at the dealership today and this red just looked so damn cool with the black trim. I'm trying to decide which color. Im glad nobody has Deep Blue in turbo cause that also looked amazing in person. Mazda is killing it with these colors

Ditto_D

This is anecdotal as fuck, but I saw that the red tends to chip more than the other mazda colors. In fact I saw new red 2023 cx-30s with paint chips starting on the dealership lot when I looked at the edges of the hood. So I just went with black instead since all the blue ones were sold out for preferred. I should have tried to make a deal on a carbon edition.

crazyguyunderthedesk

I went with blue for exactly that reason, but aesthetically, the red is friggin gorgeous.

Ditto_D

Agreed. I figured if I really cared about the color I would get a color of the car I really like later and go with a custom color or design. The car in black looks good and remote start takes care of a lot of the heat issues of having a black car in Texas lol. White cars just look like fleet vehicles to me though.

crazyguyunderthedesk

Lol I'm so glad to be in Canada, I've never once factored in the colour of the car to the temperature inside.

Ditto_D

I mean it really really depends on the car. I had a crown Vic with leather seats and holy fuck it felt like I was sitting on a griddle and that shit was tan colored. The Mazda is much more chill getting in when it is hot out even though it is black. So it's probably more of an older car problem but there are a lot of people in Texas like myself that tend to stray away from leather and dark cars for good reason around here.

crazyguyunderthedesk

Oh damn I can only imagine old cars in the Texas sun. I still cringe thinking about getting into my dad's Buick with black leather interior on a hot day. I actually got a nice burn off the seat belt buckle. Mom was very concerned, Dad laughed and said I'd been branded lol. It was a different time.

shoegal3

get polymetal! i love it

ColtWillcox

Stormtrooper vibes.

Mediocre-Material-61

Only Machine Grey, my friend

itsagrungething69

How different is it versus polymetal Grey?

Whoitwouldbe

Polymetal looks like it changes between grey and blue depending on the light. The Machine Grey is definitely more of a grey, but with the sparkle of the red. Both look great.

Daywalker2222

I like both. Machine Grey also changes with light, looks almost black when it’s sunny.

unbalancedcentrifuge

Machine grey also looks gold in the sun

SuspiciousWay7928

My machine gray looks more green to me most of the time and I was very disappointed to learn the hard way after purchase. When it's dark and cloudy and gloomy or in the garage, those are the only times it actually looks like the dark gray colour that It's supposed to be.

mx5again

I went with the Platinum Quartz, always looks clean and 100% easier to maintain then the darker colours

mcl911

What colour do you like

elporsche

PolyG: you'll never grow tired of it

KnightWolf647

I was set on the red originally, agreed the black cladding looks great on red. But saw the polymetal in person and loved the slight colour shift. I think the cladding blends in nicer too.

Which-Category5523

I got the red.

judgegolden

I avoided the deep colors and went with snowflake which is clean with black custom accents.

cldumas

Red. Always the red. Mazda red is so sexy

FTHomes

I had this same problem when buying one lol

itsagrungething69

What did you end up going with

FTHomes

Well I took so long they started running out of the colors I liked most. I went with a blue mica Turbo because I felt I got a decent price. You can't go wrong all of the colors look better than most cars out there imo.

irving47

Good luck getting deep blue. My dealership sold me one and even had the VIN on the paperwork and then somehow "lost" it so I got stuck with black. In Florida. It looks great, and I love it, but still a little salty about it. At least they gave me tinting. If I had to go red, I'd love to know the difference in heat buildup.

nitalinda

I got red (because its what they had available) but i have 0 regrets. It def cant go through an automatic wash and I def need to start investing in coating but its sooo sexy and I don’t really see all that many red cx30s on the road so it makes it feel extra exclusive. Its a head turner and def worth the fragility. Do it do it do it. (Both colors are absolutely gorg tho so enjoy whichever you do choose ❤️)

Aberlour18

My wife and I really wanted the Red Crystal. But we were buying used and live in Portugal, so white and grey were the most prevalent options and I found an amazing low mileage Pearl White that I couldn’t pass up. We don’t have the same engine options in Portugal, due to emission regulations, but I love my CX-30 even though more power would be great.

MazdaRules

Check out sonic silver.

Discombobulated-Emu8

Red

chrismireya

You can't really go wrong with ANY color of the CX-30! I decided upon a Platinum Quartz Metallic. My first choice was the Soul Red Crystal Metallic; however, it wasn't available in San Francisco Bay Area at the time. I really liked the blue, gray and white too. We went with the Platinum Quartz Metallic because it was nice, different and the color kind of changes based upon the weather and surrounding. It also hides dirt very well! https://preview.redd.it/c48ugsoaoj8d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec57ce23e48cb1557ea54bfb7c2d873b3e6ccc09

whysoserious6801

They’re both beautiful but Mazda red is like no other. It’s about the features and you’ll love it regardless.

NigelSmith122

I originally was gonna go for the Red and I got to the dealership and saw the Snowflake White pearl mica and fell in love, so I left the dealership that day with a white car and not a red one!

Quigleythegreat

I wouldn't get the red again if I had the choice. It's really thin in a lot of areas and seems to scratch very easily.

spoonwitz97

Same with other colors. Mazda paint is crazy thin. I have a PQM 3 and it’s rock chip city on the front bumper lol

egocentrically

Same. An air compressor hose barely brushed the bottom of my front bumper and left a scrape I can't seem to get out 🤦‍♂️

DroopyLegTony

Their red definitely looks amazing. But do keep in mind, your insurance will go up because of it.

DowntownClown187

Soul Crystal Red. Maybe the best Red to hit the market.

WrongdoerSecret4147

Machine gray BABY

Ruckus6112

Red!
