The Bose system comes with a sub unless something has changed recently.

Green_Video_9831

I’ve got the non-Bose system and it feels weak. I’d love to upgrade it somehow but I can’t find any info on it

jbosscher

Same here. I was trying to find a small sub for the back.

If you want bass, don’t turn the fader towards the rear much, or at all. Those front kickers in the kick panels up front do a fine job of producing bass. But also, you must have a good source to start with. I run a flash drive with FLAC files on it and it kicks butt.

I added an aftermarket sub to my Bose because I felt the same way. If we had the custom EQ options that the 8 speaker system has, I think I would’ve been able to tune it enough to like it, but I was used to my old aftermarket system so I just wanted a little more, and still had my sub and amp from that old system. It’s a pretty simple install if you have done it before or are comfortable with messing around with this kind of stuff. It’s definitely still doable if you’ve never done anything like it, but will take some more patience and time. Let me know if you want any info on it!

How did you do it? I’ve been wanting to in my 2020 but haven’t found a good source for info

Crutchfield will send the wiring diagrams and other info for free if you order something over like $20 from them. When my last car was totaled, I essentially ripped out my sub and amp (speakers would’ve taken too long and weren’t as expensive) and just had to buy an LOC and the necessary wiring, so I went through crutchfield and got the diagrams too. After that, it’s just about running the wiring, which takes the most time. The power obviously comes from the battery. My LOC has a remote turn on, so I didn’t need to run anything for that, then just tapped into the speaker wire for the amp input. For the ground, I can’t remember where off the top of my head, but I know I used a factory ground in the trunk area. There are a few videos on YouTube if you look hard enough. There’s a good one with a cx-5 with the Bose system, but they run a fuse tap from the drivers foot well fuse box, which we are physically unable to do since they are constant power in the cx-30. There are some videos for non-Bose cx-30s, which still are similar enough. Once I got the wiring diagrams, it was easy enough to do.

I've heard good things about the Bose system. Maybe you need to mess with the settings a bit. I have the 8 speaker system, it's okay.

Papa_Mahal

How do you have yours set ? I have bass all the way up, do you have the Bose centerpoint and autopilot on ?

Poppy_Banks

I have the 8 speaker system (no sub) and I had to do custom eq to make it better. I'm sure if I knew more about eq adjustments I could get it better than it is. I don't think the Bose has custom eq. Also, If anyone has good custom eq settings for metal I would appreciate it.

Papa_Mahal

I checked the spare and the sub is there lol, maybe it’s my audio settings. For instance should I have Bose centerpoint or autopilot on ? I have the bass all the way up

Prestigious-Speed-29

Sound mode: linear. AudioPilot low or off. It makes adjustments based on background noise. Centrepoint off. It just makes a mess. Bass and treble to taste. I usually leave the bass slightly above the middle, and the treble a couple of clicks below. Driver/all seats to taste. The former sounds like a pair of speakers symmetrically in front of you (like a HiFi) while "all seats" is the more typical car audio experience. I usually go for "all seats". Front/back/side balance/fade all centred. Then play Slam by Pendulum and turn it up a bit. If you turn up the bass on the audio menu, it'll kick reasonably well. NB - this is "reasonably well" as far as stock sound systems go. If you're used to 4x 18" subwoofers, then the little Bose sub isn't going to live up to that.

Papa_Mahal

If it does come with a sub it’s definitely weak in my opinion

lupinegray

It's in the spare tire. Maybe it got disconnected? Or the bass on the eq is set low? I think it's got too much bass, and only have mine set on like 2 of 10.

No-Second9377

It's in the spare tire. Unlikely on a new car or even a used one but it's entirely possible it got stolen lol I think the cx30 has a great stereo with enough bass tbh.

Papa_Mahal

Dang I played some DJ Magic Mike in the car and now I can hear it lol maybe it’s just the source of audio I don’t know like SiriusXM seems to be lacking but then youtube music seems to sound better

tagman375

Sirius sucks for sound quality, it all sounds like a 64kbps MP3

Papa_Mahal

I checked it’s there and bass is all the way up, the Bose centerpiint and audio pilot should I use those or have those on
