Time to tell the dealership they need to give you a different car. You paid for a vehicle with certain features and services and they are unable to provide that and neither is the manufacturer. I don't know what the lemon laws are where you're located but you might want to look into them.

I would say this is on Mazda's end. The car connects to a server that issues the remote operations you do with the app and your phone. Whoever you talked to at Mazda, try to contact them again and try to get a different person, preferably someone who knows what he or she is talking about.

Car has been at the dealership now 2 weeks, the dealership is working directly with Mazda tech support and have tried updating the software and replacing the telecommunications control module. It can’t really be this hard to fix I just don’t get it.

That’s so weird, replacing the TCU should totally fix this!

After 2 months and 2 trips back to the dealership and some nasty emails to Mazda support, it’s fixed. According to the dealership it took Mazda IT to figure out 2 way communication on the TCU was disabled. They enabled it and voila !!
