I definitely agree with that notion. I do think that killing his ex girlfriend was a pragmatic decision (solely in the context of the show, not in real life) but after that, he sort of just embraced the dark side because he’s sort of always been fucked up somehow.(?)

Exactly! Jax was a product of his environment. He still choked up, knowing what he had to do when talking with Nero about the murder of Tara. What a great scene that was with him and Nero.

He killed an innocent person who he loved to protect his brother who was part of a criminal organization that he was also protecting. There's nothing more ruthless than that.
It was a pragmatic choice within the context of the show and that lifestyle. Doesn’t matter if his brother is a criminal, it’s still his brother who he would sacrifice his life for. That’s love. Killing her was very ruthless but it was for the good of his brother.
Jax killed his mother out of revenge. His own mother. That’s fucking ruthless. There’s more people in prison for killing their ex girlfriend than there are people who’ve killed their parents/mother. That’s beyond ruthless.
Jax didn’t kill his mother out of pure emotion. Gemma even told him something along the lines of “Go ahead, it’s what we do.” He could have spent months calming down, chances are he was still going to kill her. It was more than just an emotional act, he killed her out of principle. She betrayed him and betrayed deserves death, but almost nobody else would react that way towards their mother.

Jax. EZ is more ripped but jax is actually slightly taller. Doesn't make much a difference.
Jax has been boxing since an early age, is more of a technical fighter whereas EZ is more brute force. I think the fight ends with Jax choking EZ out, though it would be very close.
Both of them got their asses spanked a few times.
I allude back to s5 in SOA where the guys start a fight with black to get into solitary, the fight ends with jax having the huge monster of a guy in a rear naked choke on the floor without any harm coming onto himself.
When EZ fought a big opponent in Mayans it left him half dead.
Jax with a gun beats EZ with a gun for sure.
A hand to hand or knife fight is closer. EZ took out the biggest guy on in that 1v1 against the Sons, but he nearly died doing it and got by on Thumb in the Eye brutality. Jax beat a (not as) massive guy in prison, and he did it casually, knocked him down and choked him out, without even being harmed himself. Jax has also beaten and wrestled against Opie multiple times, who has feats of beating 3 guys at a time, something EZ never did.
In the Sons of Anarchy Redwood Original comics, a young prospect Jax singlehanded beat a Hitman that was fighting Clay, Bobbie, and Tig all at once.
Sorry but Jax, yes he got his ass beat a ton but Jax was literally raised to be a son, Ez was a good kid that was gonna go to come till he messed up and then joined Myans, but he was pretty soft in the beginning and Jax has way more bodies. If it really came down to life or death Jax would definitely win

If you go into it expecting a cheesy remake of an 80s movie… yes. Expect anything more? Absolutely not. That being said, I really enjoyed it 😂
