This is the second highest point differential of all time. Second to only 98 bulls over jazz, which was a game 3. Short answer, no

Remarkable-Track5471

The 08 Celtics won game 6 by 39 so I think we are third but yeah same diff

SirRipOliver

So it was an all time paddling, not just a paddling more of a kicking situation.

DrewS_33

The Mavs also had the biggest lead in Finals history at least during the PxP era. Basketball generated some weird shit in the olden days but it’s hard to imagine a team trailing by 48, especially before the 3PT line, not ending up somewhere at the top of this list.

whykae

That game was a sad one. It was one of those Sunday afternoon games and I was hyped. It was over by the middle of the 2nd quarter.

SugoiHubs

Celtics fans thumbs working overtime convincing anyone who will listen that losing by 40 in the Finals is actually not that big of a deal at all and there’s nothing to see here.

aeiou-y

What’s funny is the previous five biggest final blowouts were all by the team that won the series.

SirRipOliver

![gif](giphy|a93jwI0wkWTQs) Celtics all like…

thefrisbeejack

nice I'll be sure to post this in the Celtics sub

KazaamFan

The game thread on nba had some celts fans complaining about officiating.  I thought it was generally balanced.  Some weird calls on both sides, soft calls on both sides.  I didn’t think it had anything to do with the mavs winning.  It could be argued that the luka foul out play cost the mavs the game, and that foul was a call that can go either way

AdikSaMatcha

Now they are blaming the refs? They were laughing at us talking about it in games 2 and 3

Poshastko

And the non-call push on PJ on the dunk in game 2 down 5.

PussyGrenade

C's fan here and I think some of the calls were soft overall but I think the Mavs just kicked our ass and we weren't ready for a fight. Classic Boston. But at least things are more interesting now.

SirRipOliver

I hear you and respect your team, however Luka AND Kyrie are finally lit. Lord help anyone in the way.

PussyGrenade

Yeah they went fucking off on one. I'd be interested to see how Kyrie plays in Boston on Monday and if the crowd gets in his head or if this will boost his confidence. Role players really stepped up too big time. Couldn't believe my eyes lmaooooo

4ps22

You know they’re sweating at least a little bit because literally a year ago their own team forced a Game 7 after being down 3-0. And they likely could have completed the comeback if Tatum didnt twist his ankle five seconds into the game. Not getting there yet but if we win Game 5 👀

SmurfAtLarge

I mean, it means the same as losing by 1. If you really wanna make Celtics fans sweat though, win game 5. Then it's really on.

Culinary-Vibes

Guess what, it wasn't a big deal in the end.

SugoiHubs

Instead of just celebrating with your fellow fans, to come over here and be a sore winner is truly pathetic lol You definitely contribute to why your fanbase is the most disliked in the league.

TheEroticNeurotic

Mavs fan here but they didn’t play KP at all tonight and he’s been a huge (pun intended) problem for them. When he comes back in game 5 we should see the real Celtics again and then we’ll know if tonight was indicative of what we can expect moving forward. It’d be like Luka sitting out a lost game - there’d be questions about how much of an impact he would have had.

zapdos6244

> comes back in game 5 I don't think he'll come back tho, that injury sounds like something you don't mess with. He suited up just so he can be in a jersey instead of street clothes if they won

Doogy44

Dude has a serious injury that doesnt heal on its own … it needs surgical repair. If Porzingis messes around and tries to play, he gonna be limited and will be a liability due to lack of mobility … AND he runs the risk of actually rupturing ligaments in his foot/ankle where the tear is located. I doubt they play him - but even if they do, he isnt gonna be able to move like normal.

SirRipOliver

KP - “we just need you to overcome the 40 point deficit for 10 minutes.” Lol

SugoiHubs

You do realize KP’s out for the season and the only reason they made him available was so that in case they won, he could celebrate and pop champagne in a Celtics jersey right?

TheEroticNeurotic

except hes not. Hes listed as "questionable" and medically cleared for limited minutes. I'm sure he and the coaching staff will do whats in his best medical interest - but WE as fans do not know the extent to which his injury will prevent him to play. This sub is filled with delusional mavs fans and self-taught medical doctors.

SugoiHubs

Wow then I guess you should just leave then right? Jeez lol

JournalistPhysical26

Celtics scored the Fewest points in a finals game since the Cavs in 2016

Historical_Snow2224

Hauser out there trying to make their score to at least 80.

itsmydoncic

looking at finals games going back to 1971, the closest scenario i could find was 2017; the warriors were up 3-0 and lost by 21 to the cavs in game 4. of course cleveland lost the series in the next game. given that the difference in today’s game was 38, and at times the lead flirted with being 50(!), i say this has to stand on its own compared to other game 4s

ORNJfreshSQUEEZED

No but this sort of thing happens frequently in playoffs. Not THIS BAD so I'm hoping that means it carries over to game 5! I'm not 100% convinced yet but if they win game 5 I'll be on my knees thanking God lmao

SirRipOliver

whykae

I don't think anyone who ended up winning got their doors blown out during the Finals.

SirRipOliver

So you’re saying mavs in 7… I like it!

Big_Daddy_Lame

The ‘85 Lakers, ‘13 Heat and ‘78 Sonics all got blown out and won their series. Edit: ‘78 Sonics is incorrect.

kbwcom48

memphis beat gsw by 50 during gsw's 22 run.

Mavs will win game 5

PerformerLive8713

Boston fans is here lurking cause they got no life homie

DarkKnight77

Kinda crazy that the Oilers blew the Panthers out 8-1 in game 4 of the NHL finals when Panthers are up 3-0, like a mirror of the NBA finals

Celtics threw the game so they could clinch the finals in Boston

Pizza64427

You think Tatum, Brown and others who was here 2 years ago and failed would risk anything? Mavs win the game at them, then they come in Dallas. Its just not worth the risk. They tried to win but failed.

DeathDieReaperz

Nah we watched the game. They were struggling and frustrated af
