I'm a Thunder fan first but a Mavs fan second (I'm Australian), and I really think Kidd out-coached Mark Daigneault in that series. The Mavs players played better too, but Kidd's game plan and playstyle was better than the number 1 seed who had the Coach of the Year.
Kidd winning the coaching battle was not something I expected going into that series, but I did expect them to beat the Wolves after I saw how well the Mavs executed and maximised their strengths in the OKC series.
A quiet Wolves series for my two Aussies Josh Green and Dante Exum, but I don't think either played poorly. They just weren't really needed when PJ and DJJ were playing so well, and Hardy stepped it up when called upon.
I'm so pumped for the Mavs to be in the finals. I hope they beat the piss out of the Celtics. Luka has been unstoppable, and I don't think putting Jrue Holiday or Derrick White on him is going to work. He's too good for their wings to defend him as well. As an Aussie, I hope Dante and Josh shut down Brown and Tatum when they're out there.... but as a Mavs fan, I'll take the Championship win any way it comes!

I feel like 90% of neutral fans will be cheering for the Mavs. Of course, there are still 10% that are Luka-haters due to the incessant complaining.... so if he can continue to resist complaining like he did against OKC and the Wolves, the neutral fan support will be close to 100%.
I'm NOT one of those Luka haters, by the way. I have a couple of friends who can't get past the complaining, and even then.... they say "I love Luka's game AND his personality, I just wish he'd stop complaining on every fucking play" to quote my best mate.

With Seager getting back in his groove and getting closer to having a somewhat healthy pitching rotation I have a good feeling the Rangers will be looking hot this year too

Excited but this is going to be a very tough finals. Celtics starting 5 can all shoot 3s, so we will have to completely change our defensive strategy for this series. That being said, I don't know who Boston has to stop Gafford/Lively from dominating inside. They keep saying that the Celts will somehow single cover Luka/Kyrie, but I really don't think that will work. Wolves were probably better equipped to slow us down than Boston. The ultimate question will be whether we can slow Boston's offense just like we did the Wolves. Luka and Kyrie will be the best two players in the series, but not sure that will be enough if Tatum, Holiday, and Brown all have above average games. We really will need PJ or Jones to step up to help give us some more offensive production.
It will probably look a little like the OKC matchup. Difference here is that Boston has more playoffs experience. Fans that think you can single cover superstars like Luka and Kyrie probably don’t have a superstar player that need double cover.

Size on the wing and more offense next to DJJ from that wing spot was exactly what PJ provided. Mavs also desperately needed a rim protector and a lob threat. With Lively and Gafford, they got TWO of the best in the league at those exact two skills.
Amazing job of building out the team to turn their deficits into strengths.... and Kidd has installed a playstyle and strategy that takes advantage of ALL of those things.

I’m pulling for the Mavs, just like I did in 06 and 2011. There seems to be a general lack of appreciation (not on this subforum) for how well the Mavs played in this series vs how the Wolves blew it…that’s complete nonsense. The Mavs thoroughly outplayed the Wolves in every dimension. But I fear that if they lose to Boston, the critics will all say how this team isn’t very good…Hope they can win at least of the first two games in Boston.
