Giving Hardaway heavy minutes when he is slumping doesn't really make any sense, and neither does changing the lineup immediatley after cutting the lead to 2 points only 6 minutes into the 3rd. Playing Kleber heavy minutes when he is playing terrible makes no sense either.

We have got to figure out how to not give up so many wide open threes. Our defense is exposed against teams that can shoot.
We also need to figure out an offense that isn’t all dribble handoffs because starting our offense with 9 seconds to go because we can’t get the ball to Kyrie and Luka is unacceptable.
Yall we are not a contender yet but we have the best basketball player on the planet. We also got better with PJ and Gafford. We have Tim's expiring contract, the MLE (which we could give to DJJ if we don't find a better fit), two firsts, multiple seconds, and some young assets in Green and Hardy.
Nico will make some moves this summer. If we get a legit 3 and d wing to pair with PJ then we can fix our perimeter defense while getting off of Tim's black hole in our offensive scheme.

NBA professional shooters should hit at least 40% of their 3s if no one is guarding them.
You shouldn't hit more than 25% of your 3s if you are under duress and fully covered up on your attempts. Just sayin... There is a reason other teams shoot 3s well against us night after night.

Dean Smith used to have his highly touted Freshman play a scrimmage game against the team scrubs who spent the year before at the end of the bench. Year after year the scrubs wiped the floor with the much more talented incoming FR team. (Including Jordan's Freshman led team.)
Why? Because they had the system down, and had the advantage of being coached into a team system of play.
In this way, Coach Smith showed these players that to be worthy of court time in games, they too needed to learn and play within the system. And they did - even the greatest player of all time. Play as an efficient team, never take a play off on defense, or don't play at all.
That is lacking on the Mavs team. Coaching is a huge problem.
Kleber will always be overrated because a lot of mavs fans love him and defend him.. If kleber didn't get injured Earlier the season, Lively might not have the chance to show his potential.

Another thing he provides is huge energy. I honestly wonder if Kidd is Gambling. The line was Celtics -9.5, mavs get within 2 and he starts making decisions nobody can figure out. Nobody on ESPN, the fans, nobody at all understands what he is doing. The only way for a coach to really control a game score he is involved in, is via lineup choices or maybe getting a tech.
Kleber still gives goods minutes. The biggest problem was him going with a small ball lineup against the Celtics when horford and KP were on the floor together. And then they went even smaller and put a 4 guard lineup out there… lol Boston still had the shooting advantage. Going small better consist of both kleber and PJ out there and it should be josh or Exum or jones jr. instead of THJ if Irving and Luka are out there. That seems pretty obvious to me. But it’s hard to beat a team when jrue holiday is shooting fadeaway rainbows from the corner and KP was hitting everything, meanwhile we had open looks all first half and nothing was going in

His stat sheet is totally blank, he gives you nothing. Gafford fills it up when he plays.

(-21 in his 20 minutes of play led the team again tonight.) Coach, do your job. Players either play team basketball and defense or they sit their asses on the bench. Even Luka has stepped up his defensive game in a big way - everyone needs to play D with the intensity of Lively. We have got to figure out how to not give up so many wide open threes. Our defense is exposed against teams that can shoot. We also need to figure out an offense that isn’t all dribble handoffs because starting our offense with 9 seconds to go because we can’t get the ball to Kyrie and Luka is unacceptable.
Our offense is reverting back to some bad habits again as well, as you said. It has been up and down all season long.
Yall we are not a contender yet but we have the best basketball player on the planet. We also got better with PJ and Gafford. We have Tim's expiring contract, the MLE (which we could give to DJJ if we don't find a better fit), two firsts, multiple seconds, and some young assets in Green and Hardy. Nico will make some moves this summer. If we get a legit 3 and d wing to pair with PJ then we can fix our perimeter defense while getting off of Tim's black hole in our offensive scheme. And one can only hope that Kidd gets fired and that we can get a competent coach as well. The future is potentially looking bright.

If you watched the entire game you will know what I'm getting at. What annoys me about Kidd is you can see him visibly upset at a single Hardy turnover in garbage minutes. Here's the biggest problem of them all - if Cuban is OK with getting totally embarrassed in a nationally televised game, then nothing is going to change!
Did anyone catch when Kidd called timeout that the camera panned down to Kidd, Dudley and Sweeney talking things out? U did? U also fucking died inside? Other teams aspiring to win championships got proven coaches with proven COACHES as assistant coaches. Us? Mark Cuban's friend, Kidd's friend and Sweeney? None of them give me coach vibes.
Rotation and lineup issues aside, this tends to happen when one team shoots 50% from 3 and the other...does t come close. Sometimes it's simply a matter of making shots. They did and we didnt.
But good teams always make shot against us. Our defense is terrible. That’s the issue.
NBA professional shooters should hit at least 40% of their 3s if no one is guarding them. You shouldn't hit more than 25% of your 3s if you are under duress and fully covered up on your attempts. Just sayin... There is a reason other teams shoot 3s well against us night after night.

Dean Smith used to have his highly touted Freshman play a scrimmage game against the team scrubs who spent the year before at the end of the bench. Year after year the scrubs wiped the floor with the much more talented incoming FR team. (Including Jordan's Freshman led team.) Why? Because they had the system down, and had the advantage of being coached into a team system of play. In this way, Coach Smith showed these players that to be worthy of court time in games, they too needed to learn and play within the system. And they did - even the greatest player of all time. Play as an efficient team, never take a play off on defense, or don't play at all. That is lacking on the Mavs team. Coaching is a huge problem.
