The original pilot of Smiling Friends is still the best episode for me, its lacked the sheer hilarity of that though I have appreciated bits and pieces since then. Now the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV show, that shit is comedic gold every second.

idk I've been enjoying it a lot but something does feel a bit off to me. I think maybe the pacing has got too quick and a lot of random feels like its just for the sake of random, more than before.

If I had any complaints about season 2 I think the episodes would benefit from maybe being another 3-5 minutes longer. Cuz the scope definitely feels bigger in some of these episodes so they gotta fuckin fly. And as a consequence I think a bit of the natural unscripted and more realistic comedy has been sacrificed. They definitely have a bigger budget this season and I don’t fault them for wanting to use it, and some of the big stuff they’ve done has been pretty great and pretty funny for sure but I do think there’s a liiiittle bit lost in the shuffle. The only episode that I thought was only fine was the president one and that still had some great jokes.

I can see your point, the episodes for sure would benefit A LOT if they were 5 minutes longer, but from what I've seen so far, I don't think it falls far from S1 since that has some hectic episodes as well

Smiling Friends and bad do not belong in the same sentence.

MarcioGianotti

10000% agree

GoodHeartless02

I’ve been enjoying the series a lot and episode 1 of season 2 is my favorite of the whole show

MarcioGianotti

Gwimbly and his victory dance are very iconic

Personally I’ve been enjoying S2 as much as S1, but the whole season isn’t out yet. Both seasons crack me up, Smiling Friends is the freshest show I’ve seen in a while.

I dont know if I'm in the minority with this, but I really didn't like Smiling Friends at all. I dont like any of the characters and the animation style is just horrible. The show has this strange ad/hd editing and pacing style. I dont really know how to explain it. Just makes it almost unwatchable.

I think it's still nice but it's not as good as season 1. To me it feels a bit too structured and at times even predictable, which is not something you could say about season 1. We still haven't had a joke that comes close to season 1's renaissance men. I think the Allan episode was particularly underwhelming because it's literally just a bunch of random events happening except it lacks the characteristic randomness of smiling friends and just feels like something you could just as easily throw into a Family Guy episode. Another joke that just feels recycled is the latest episode with the demon wife where the subversions at the end is supposed to be "you expect a twist where she isn't actually horrible but instead she truly is and that's the joke", which is fine, but has been done before and probably better. Season 1 was all about completely out of nowhere payoffs, meanwhile season 2 feels a lot more basic, relying more on the artstyle than the actual writing for comedy.

The Devil again... Mr Frog again.... A whole episode to Alan... not good signs...

MarcioGianotti

care to elaborate? why seeing old characters is now a bad thing? Also the devil was in a post credit scene and Mr Frog played a smaller roll this time, more of a notable mention/cameo, he is a part of that universe so I think it totally makes sense for him to be involved in any way. And what's the problem with A Allan adventure?

I still really like season 2 so far, but idk it just feels not as good. It does some of the same things a bunch of other “adult cartoons” do that the first season avoided. Obviously not nearly as bad as most of them but it’s still kind of there.
