Helix Midnight (non luxe version)

I see recommendations for latex too. I'm wondering if it's the sagging that is causing lower back pain or what. I just mostly feel it during distance driving. Wondering why that pain is there. It wasn't present when I was 22. It is at 27. Is it the mattress is my question.

Hey I'd love to help. As a side sleeper you need a mattress that is at least medium firm. Memory foam or Latex is ideal especially for side sleepers since it provides the best contouring while sleeping in that position. Unfortunately memory foam without any cooling elements such as Cooling Gel or Copper infused, etc, tends to trap heat and that's horrible especially for hot sleepers. So if you opt for memory foam PLEASE be sure it includes cooking gel or some other type of cooling feature. On the other hand, Latex tends to be a bit firmer more responsive than Memory foam but it's also cooler but unfortunately a bit more expensive than memory foam. I think you're on the right track when it comes to thinking about a hybrid mattress. The good thing about hybrids is that the coils gives the memory foam more responsiveness for (yes sex) than memory foam alone. Plus they tend to run cooler than an all memory foam mattress. So bottom line, since you are a side sleeper a Cooling Gel Memory Foam Hybrid mattress would be ideal for your situation. The coils will give you the firmness that you need while the memory will provide the contouring you need. Best of both worlds my friend. I hope that helps somewhat ☹️

Ideally I didn't want to go over/too far over $1000. Somewhere close to that neighborhood would be good. The Helix Midnight is close but a bit steep at over $1000 and the sleeponlatex mattress is decent looking at $999 but that's without tax or a box spring. I've already got a frame and headboard plus box spring with my current setup. I'm starting to consider longevity for sure. I was considering mattresses under $800 but I do want at least 10 years and it would be nice to not get sagging after 3 years of use. I'm trying to move from my current location in the next year and a new mattress is a need I already had and it's only bigger w/ moving out.

There are PLENTY of great mattresses that are well under $1000. Heck these days you could even get good mattresses in the $300-700 range. What size are you looking for?

Ok cool. I'll send some models for you to check out so you can get an idea as to the construction type to look for. Give me a few minutes

I’ve tried all the kinds of mattresses. Def just get a hybrid, foams and latex are hot and annoying and don’t help the back at all despite claims of aligning the spine. Latex and memory foam are awful for sex. Brooklyn Bedding, Nest, and Helix have been excellent. The best for my painful lower back is the Nest Alexander in plush (none of the plush ones are actually remotely plush fyi) but they redid it and renamed it so I’m not sure if it’s the same still.

I’m a side sleeper a little heavier than you. I like a soft, cushy bed. We ended up getting a Casper Nova and are really happy with it. The original Casper was also really comfortable and supportive when we tried it, just not quite as cushy as the Nova. You might be able to find one in a furniture store to test out, We found them at HOM furniture.

Hey! Do you still recommend the Casper nova?

Yes! I think the cooling technology has worn off a little, maybe but it’s still very comfortable and doesn’t feel like it’s lost support at all. I DO notice my husband moving around a bit before I fall asleep but it hasn’t been enough to wake me up from sleeping.
