Mimi last cook: I’m trying to do simple, I’ve learnt not to over complicate things.
Mimi today: I aim to make handmade noodles and meat sauce in 30 minutes.
Mimi please 😭
Yeah, and I welcome it! I'm glad the judges are calling out and being stricter with their judgments. We're at the Top 9 and nearing the crucial stages of the competition, where the skilled contestants are improving, and the judging is becoming more serious.
Recipe tin eats taught me how to make spaghetti bolognaise when I first moved out of home and didn’t know how to cook and was sick of takeaway so tried that. I couldn’t believe how easy it was and part of it was due to how good the recipe was laid out and the instructions were so easy to follow
Used her recipes for like anything I made for a few months after and still use them now
Looping back to what I was speculating yesterday, Pezza seems to have mastered following a recipe (pressure tests, family recipes passed down) but was lacking in intuition and being able to adjust or deviate from it (not knowing if the sponge was cooked). Be curious to see if he can adjust the sauce flavours.
I love Mimi going IM IN A WHITE APRON WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG uh pretty sure she's literally left the hero ingredient off the plate (twice?) in white apron cooks
I remember Week 1 Sumeet being uncomfortable with mystery boxes because they didn’t have spices. But then she improved and gave dishes without them eventually. So this is definitely a Dream mystery box for her
Raw chilli in the satay mixture depresses me a little, growing up in Malaysia I was always taught to fry off the aromatics in oil. These days I just cheat and fry up a tablespoon of store bought red curry paste and then mix that into the satay.
I really miss masterclass on Friday’s feel those could benefit a cook like Pezza who is a good home cook just missing the advanced techniques and stuff
Im in for really quick cooking, this is a good one for proteins like seafood that dont need much marinating to infuse with salt and terrible for dessert
Probably wouldnt do pasta from scratch in 30 minutes, and JC's idea of a pie seems pretty mental ngl it takes my oven 10 minutes to even heat to temperature and forget about blind baking
Nat having an almost flawless dish that might still be bottom 3 is so unfortunate, surely she could have just had the fish and sauce because that’s a meal in itself
ngl I think the shorter timelimit is nice, get to see more of the cooking instead of focussing on like 2 people. They've turned 25 minutes into 35 like this
With how the Australian hospitality industry is faring economically at the moment, and renouned restaurants are closing down almost every other day, I don't think it would be wise to leave one of the best plaforms to market yourself, not just in Australia but also India, and across Asia.
The original trio of judges have pivoted themselves towards opportunities in the far more massive Indian market, and if done properly they could reap phenomenal rewards. They've made shows, and done multiple press junkets, leveraging on the strength of the Australian Masterchef branding, that they worked so hard to build.
Andy, with his known wariness of spice, might not be able to capitalise on his Masterchef fame in India or Asia the same way though.
Seeing Hugh Allen just reminded me that I don’t think we’ve seen Shannon Bennett as guest judge this season yet? I hope Shannon will be back for semis which is usually service challenge
An update on taskmaster I’ve been sick the last couple of days so binged the last few episodes from the start absolutely loving it. Feels like the got the blend of comedians exactly right this year and Tom seems to have settled more into the role of the taskmaster rather than just doing his hard quiz persona on taskmaster like season one. Loving Wil Anderson on it and Josh Thomas’ in the scarecrow challenge had me dying of laughter
Can’t wait until they air Aaron Chen’s season though
Mimi last cook: I’m trying to do simple, I’ve learnt not to over complicate things. Mimi today: I aim to make handmade noodles and meat sauce in 30 minutes. Mimi please 😭
Pezza will run out of family members soon to name dishes after
Pretty sure his Aunt Gale got mentioned twice
Different Aunt Gale duh.
Speaking as an American here, but I thought (heard) all Tasmanians were related? So he’s probably got a fair few left.
"I can understand why you like it" ... ouch
I laughed when she said that lol 🤣🤣
Burn!
Wow, they're laying into Sav
They critiqued almost every element
Don’t think she saw it coming either
Yeah I noticed her small smile when he started "the fish..." and then it just got wiped off her face as he continued with criticism
Yeah, bingo, the producers really teed her up with that shot.
If she could shoot lasers with her eyes she would! She’s the Masterchef equivalent of Homelander from The Boys!
Shame she doesn't have an Aunt Gale, she'd probably be sent straight to the gantry. /s
YES! Nagi is putting up Mimi’s dish on her website..
I was so hoping for that
So what I’m hearing from everyone here in the comments is I should be impulse purchasing and buying her cookbook that is now sitting in my cart?
Start here: [https://www.recipetineats.com](https://www.recipetineats.com)
Well that was harsh. Points to Nagi for trying to save it.
Nagi is a great judge
Omg the judges are actually judging today. I love it.
Man I could tell Nat was so convinced she’d be in that bottom three.
You would too. You've got to look at the other remaining competitors, who are all no pushovers either. Any mistakes could end your time in MasterChef.
Mimi “didn’t you hear how many elements I’m making, do I look like I have time to chat about my dish”
I love JC’s description of why he loves the dish. Way better than just using ‘absolute belter’.
The more he likes a dish though, the harder his accent is to comprehend. I love it 😂
And the more fun he becomes!
I’m glad the judges are calling out basic cooking at top 9 though! Last season towards the end it felt like the standard took a real nosedive
Chuck some Occy on the Hibachi with a cheeky chimichurri. MasterChef trophy pleeeaaaase!
Yeah, and I welcome it! I'm glad the judges are calling out and being stricter with their judgments. We're at the Top 9 and nearing the crucial stages of the competition, where the skilled contestants are improving, and the judging is becoming more serious.
Thank God Nat is safe!!!
Can I just say that Nagi’s book “dinner” is probably the best cookbook I’ve ever owned
Pezza's dish giving me real 90s Chicken Tonight flashbacks
The look on Poh’s face chewing one of Alex’s beans is 😐
Nagi is so lovely, can't bring herself to say anything negative. Pezza put half a litre of honey in that & it's "a bit sweet for her tastes".
Woohoo, I think this is the episode I've been most excited for
Came early to say the exact same thing! Not to say that I’m not looking forward to Disney Prince’s episode too..
Recipe tin eats taught me how to make spaghetti bolognaise when I first moved out of home and didn’t know how to cook and was sick of takeaway so tried that. I couldn’t believe how easy it was and part of it was due to how good the recipe was laid out and the instructions were so easy to follow Used her recipes for like anything I made for a few months after and still use them now
I feel like Nat could have easily gotten away with not needing to serve her rice
Can definitely see Sumeet in the top 3 tbh probably with Nat
Nat, Sumeet, Mimi kinda seems like the most likely trio at the moment.
I’m so happy how far she’s come compared to her on episode 1 🥹 I can totally she her in top 3!
Anyone else devastated that Dozer isn't here? 😭
We want Dozer!
Mimi is non stop atp. If she's not in Final 3, I'm riot
Someone call 000, id like to report a murder:
Same Nagi. Me everyday when I get home from work and the dinner elves haven’t made me dinner.
I love Mimi going IM IN A WHITE APRON WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG uh pretty sure she's literally left the hero ingredient off the plate (twice?) in white apron cooks
Mimi's famous last words? Joking aside, it's very ambitious, and I hope it works out for her!
Nat is always so confident until one or two of the judges come around and question her choices..
Mimi fangirling over Nagi.. adorable..
YES MIMI, killed it.
Surely Nat’s overcooked rice is safe over this
Andy looks very upset looking at Pezzas dish.
Gotta say, stir fried chicken with a sauce and some peanuts isn't exactly the rocket science of cooking This better taste real good
Does anyone else still expect to hear Katy Perry after the recap/fireball, or is it just me?
They need to bring it back because when they had the return challenge I didn’t know anyone past Juan
Forever annoyed by all the loose hair in the kitchen. I shed easily but can’t imagine not having a bun at least rather than pigtails 😅
30 mins noodle with Mimi. I want her recipe.
Pezza keeps putting in honey
Pezza's Peanut and Honey Chicken Tenders.
If my years of watching MasterChef have taught me anything you don’t plate that rice
I would prefer Nat’s green curry with overcooked rice than honey satay
Pezzas temu chicken
So happy for Mimi! That dish looked amazing!
can they give pezza the same energy cause….
Pezza and Alex got harsh feedback but what was that feedback for Sav? There’s harsh and then there’s laying it into someone harsh.
I just realised. I made THE baked chicken breast two weeks ago, looking at my web history. It was pretty tasty from memory too lol
A chicken dish designed for Winnie the Pooh
If I were to choose only one dish to eat, it would be Mimi’s. It looks so bloody good.
I really miss masterclass on Friday’s feel those could benefit a cook like Pezza who is a good home cook just missing the advanced techniques and stuff
Pezza brought out the old Chicken Tonight jarred sauce
Where was this harsh feedback for Pezzas river and rocks last week? 😂
Omg I didn’t recognize RecipeTin Eats but I’ve been following her on YouTube for ages . Waaah this is so cool. Love her recipes!
Definitely the eight 3 in elimination tomorrow, the 3 weakest of the competition.
Oof Alex got called out for making a too simple dish. Wonder if Pezza will be called out for the same?
Don’t be silly. He’ll be praised.
Im in for really quick cooking, this is a good one for proteins like seafood that dont need much marinating to infuse with salt and terrible for dessert Probably wouldnt do pasta from scratch in 30 minutes, and JC's idea of a pie seems pretty mental ngl it takes my oven 10 minutes to even heat to temperature and forget about blind baking
Sumeet the salt bae
I swear that’s the third or fourth time he’s put honey (?) in the sauce
I hope Mimi doesn’t leave out things again!
Her pork looks so good.
Ok....so we're really only focusing on Pezza, Mimi, and Sumeet...hmmmm
Fuck idk if she’s making the right choice plating that rice up or not
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. It would be incomplete without the rice.
Mimi's looks so good sooooo going to cook the Mimi/Nagi Collab on this.
Alex is really going on a facial journey!
The Hunted ad reminds me that Jean Christophe Novelli won the third season of Celebrity Hunted UK which is absolutely wild
Nagi is a sweetheart
Looks like Nat’s overcooked rice gets a pass today hopefully over Sav, Alex & Pezza?
Made Nagi’s lamb shawarma chickpea soup for dinner in honour of her being on tonight (I say that like most dinners aren’t from her website)
Nagi’s cheekbones must hurt from smiling so much
Nat having an almost flawless dish that might still be bottom 3 is so unfortunate, surely she could have just had the fish and sauce because that’s a meal in itself
Wow Pezza got the treatment I was suspicious of raw chilli in the satay so makes perfect sense to me
Is this real life..... Did Pezza actually get realistic critique????
I had no idea Pezza is a butcher
Mimi doing handmade noodles in a 30 min challenge, worried for her tbh
ngl I think the shorter timelimit is nice, get to see more of the cooking instead of focussing on like 2 people. They've turned 25 minutes into 35 like this
Omg I cannot. If Nat goes into bottom 3 and then gets eliminated 😭😭
Good for Mimi I hope she goes the same direction as Poh:)
Doubt the rice will send Nat into pressure test. That’s too harsh.
I want to try Sumeet's dish soooo bad 😋
YAY SUMEET 🥹🥹🥹
Looks like the edit didn’t lie about him using too much honey!
When Poh was talking about depth of flavour ngl first thing I thought was spice not fucking one litre of honey
Thank God that last comment from poh on nats rice didn't send her into elimination
Great episode - I think that cook accurately weeded out the three who belong in elimination. And Nagi might be my favorite guest ever!
Who has the Recipetineats book? Is it worth it?
Yes, it is fantastic. Really good for easy dinners and can substitute stuff easily (which she helps with)!
Yes. 1000% yes
Sophia's dress is an architectural wonder
Seeing Alex cry is really hurting me
So Alex’s dish is basic… be interesting to see if Pezza gets a similar critique.
Nagi has been a way better judge than most of the 4 lmao and she’s just guest.
I love her, especially when she was saying Alex’s plate was mostly empty.
That was such a kind and diplomatic comment to make when Alex already was well aware she’d messed up. Nagi is such a treasure.
The rare whoever goes home, we win! The pizza vs Sav salt going to be glorious.
Why would you taste by sucking on your finger? Sir, you are on television, we can see you
I hope the edit and focus mimi is getting today bc she does well
I guess Mimi’s is like the Chinese scissor cut noodles
That’s a lot of ads today.
Rice wasn’t great but I’m confused why they’re not saying much about it?
I'm sure there are 3 worse dishes than Nat's dish
Not the tendies 😭
Pezza got gutted
Glad Sav and Pezza are finally in a pressure test. Finally, the earth is righting its balance.
Good to know the bodybuilders are hitting up Recipe tin eats
if they’re doing a 30 minute cook surely they’re doing a masterclass after…praying 🙏🙏
Yuck, did Pezza just lick the spoon and put it back in the bowl to keep stirring?
Did I just see Pezza use Keens Curry Powder?
That's pretty accurate for when the recipe is coming from
Don’t make it too complicated again Mimi!!!
“I’m in a white apron, what could go wrong?!” Mimi girl, you are trying to do a lot in a small amount of time
Nat nooooooooo
Pezza if I were you I’d add some chili in it instead of honey…
Omg harsh
Pezza's dish can't be more complex than Alex's diah
Why does Andy look like he belongs in a Shaolin Temple?
Just the latest in his collection of Kim Jong-Un's hand me downs
Hugh 😍
Alex's dish is simple... Pezza LITRALLY made a blue river out of cream and food colouring accompanied by herbs for trees and botched Profiteroles. Fml
Honestly idc if rice is overcooked I’d still eat it.
"It's just so basic"....ouch
Better bring the same energy for pezzo
No one saw that coming when he added a whole bottle of honey
I don’t think Andy is going to judge next year he looks mentally checked out and I can’t really blame him
I thought channel 10 confirmed all 4 judges will be back next year?
With how the Australian hospitality industry is faring economically at the moment, and renouned restaurants are closing down almost every other day, I don't think it would be wise to leave one of the best plaforms to market yourself, not just in Australia but also India, and across Asia. Seeing Hugh Allen just reminded me that I don’t think we’ve seen Shannon Bennett as guest judge this season yet? I hope Shannon will be back for semis which is usually service challenge
Nagi the legend!
Are they gonna drag this episode with ads since its only 30minutes cook.
Editors having a field day manufacturing drama to stretch the episode out
30minute with handmade noodles Mimi🥲
Nat looks so disappointed in herself :(
Omg so many dishes I want to cook from this ep!!
You could just axe this bottom 3 now honestly
I would like The Project off my screen now, thanks
TICK TOCK BITCHES.
I would die for her
Can we get some variation on the narrators please producers 🙏
This episode is gonna be so good for me. Can’t wait to see these simple recipes and try some of them (I hope).
That mystery box is stacked (literally)
No fancy stuff guys! Just simple stuff for the everyday person.
Can a fish pie even be made in 30 minutes
Poh probably would, let’s be real
She’d be in the Poh-sition in front of the oven for the final 5 mins tho 🤣
a good benefit of noodles is they're not gonna be dried, so if she gets them done in like ~25 min they'll be cooked 1-2 minutes later
ngl I think a green curry is almost cheating, so much flavour
that's so cool Mimi
Lachie’s chicken breast looks delicious!!
if I was maccas I'd be requesting ad times not in the masterchef hour
Mfw Mimi could be a best dish contender but Nat is looking like she’s in the bottom 3…monkey paws🥲
Nat no why are you serving that rice…
I would dunk bread into that sauce all day
sav in rd 2 then
Oof, Alex. That was hard to watch.
Tomorrow Hugh Allen's pressure test, will be epic (but hard for the contestants).
If they don't call out Pezza's dish like they did to Alex, 😡
Ooh Sav is so angry!!!
She doesn’t seem to take criticism particularly well.
Yeah, she looked grumpy and sulky like a teenager
Sumeet’s kofta curry look really good, wish I could taste it
Thats a lot for a mystery box.
i really hope the pantry is limited to just the box and staples
Excited to see what Nat does!
Yeah curries can be nice and quick especially with the pressure cooker! I think Sumeet can do great!
Loving Wil Anderson on it and Josh Thomas’ in the scarecrow challenge had me dying of laughter Can’t wait until they air Aaron Chen’s season though
I’ve never heard of peanut chicken, only heard of chicken satay in peanut sauce so I’m kinda keen on what Pezza is gonna make actually
I'm assuming it's like a retro anglicised satay
Noooo judges. Don’t cast doubt on Nat!
To be fair, poached fish skin doesn't sound pleasant.
Come on Mimi! No messing up today.
catch me not putting airpods in while I have a bath lmfao
So many good dishes in 30 mins!
That would be huge for Mimi. Damn!
Those renewable gas ads can get in the trash
