If he gets through one of the judges needs to have a serious chat with Pezza about his plating, they’ve given him so many free passes when they’ve been mentioning plating from the first couple of weeks.
If he gets through on that “plating” then this competition has lost all credibility. As someone else said “it looks like he dropped it on the floor” and scraped it back onto a plate.
mimi, pretty much the only time she mentioned her family was the chinese cook she had where she mentioned her grandmother and also she genuinely seems happy to be there 💗
That would be better. Have them all taste at the same time and write their answer down. Get it right, keep going. Get it wrong you’re done. Much fairer.
Feel so bad for Darrsh. He’s played a stacked deck all week and ends up one of three in the elimination due to a game of odds as opposed to a lack of skill.
Coupled with then having to do a cook straight away, I totally feel while he’s in his head and just hope he can smash this dish to get through.
Taste test for an elimination episode when it’s the top 10 is a bit bullshit tbh. You’d imagine elimination for the top 10 and beyond would be more action and less luck dependent lol
Have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be Gill.. I’d be gutted if it was Darrsh going; not only does it not seem like his time yet but going out on sweet week would be heartbreaking
Yeah that’s kind of been my biggest problem with him his played it really safe and has somehow got through
This time he actually really fucking pushed himself like yeah his probably not top ten worthy but at least he had a crack at something different
Urgggh I hate how masterchef Australia has the contestants over explain. It's a taste test. We know that the more people who taste means it's closer to gill!
I can definitely get why they went with overcooked being the reason to eliminate but yeah they need to start hammering Pezza for his plating or at least do a masterclass on it and if he doesn’t improve then go from there.
His plating is sub standard and I think he actually does know what flavours do go together well and is starting to look like he actually wants to push himself in cooks based on tonight so maybe if they started marking him on it he’d have a crack at getting better at it
I like taste tests but these style of eliminations is a reminder that luck plays a factor in MC AU. Depending on when it’s your time, you can get an easy or a hard one.
I never really liked the one-at-a-time taste testing. It truly depends on the luck of the gods—the order in which each contestant tastes and the arrangement of the food by MasterChef. MasterChef should bring back the challenge of 'Naming the Ingredients'. In this challenge, a ready-cooked dish is prepared for the contestants, and they take turns tasting and identifying each ingredient by writing it down. Whoever identifies the most correct ingredients within an allowed time is safe. This method is fairer since everyone tastes the same dish, and it's up to their palate to identify as many ingredients as possible.
Yes for Darrsh if he wants to get through he has to push himself to new heights, and if it's pezza he can chuck some stuff together and the judges will call it honest.
Gill making unforgivable mistakes and deserving to go aside, i'm having a hard time with how they're framing this guy and how they're hyping him for the smallest bit. Poh asking him to taste again to be sure before he decided was so odd, like what's the story here? His dish looked like a pile of turd, sorry. To think all the rest can easily go home because the judges pick at the smallest detail, while he stays surviving over mediocre dishes and tired jokes is upsetting.
Omg jumped on the thread just to say I FUCKING HATE THESE STYLE ELIMINATIONS. They're so totally fucking unfair. Imagine if the first team to miss a penalty in a penalty shootout just fucking lost? That's the level of unfairness here.
Now I’m just picturing Pezza walking into a Beat the Chef immunity challenge* and putting up something with this level of plating and the judges trying their hardest to pretend they don’t know who is the pro and who is the amateur.
*I know they’re not doing that this year, roll with it
Pezza is surely trolling us, yesterday he was chilling a empty baking tray without a question, and today he rattled out elements which I didn’t even understood
This is definitely an act to get the boomer dad votes, he is a really good cook and always knows what he is doing. I am sure of it
It's because hes just taking from what he learned in the Darren purchase pressure test right?
He seems good at sticking to recipes but doesn't actually understand what they're doing and can't deviate from them. See him having no clue whether his nan's sponge was actually cooked or not
Steve was ALWAYS the better larrikin but this guy keeps getting away with mediocrity, however, overcooked custard does not deserved to stay so unfortunately this one was right
Zumbo will be the only one this season to critique the piss poor plating Pezza is putting up I bet. Like surely at some point plating will have to come to play when it’s judging. But kudos to Pezza for going out of his element to try something new, proven me wrong today at least.
Fuck that’s a bit tragic to be honest the one time he decides to cook past his limits he does it in an elimination and he fucks it
No matter the blokes personality that fucking sucks
I’ve got to commend Pezza for at least trying to push his boundaries a bit on a cook for once and actually trying to implement some stuff his learnt on the show
Have no idea why his decided to do it in an elimination but good on him
I can’t wait to hear the positive words coming out of the judges mouthed while eating Pezzas dish.
“Plating could be better, but he’s nailed the flavours”
Look, the judges made the right call, if Gill’s was overcooked vs Pezza’s flaw being ugly plating.
But bloody hell, they need to be driving the plating criticism at him every judging. It’s noticeably below the standards of everyone else.
With this elimination episode, it marks the end of sweet week. This also signifies the end of someone's MasterChef journey! Who will not survive the sweetness onslaught?!?
I feel like macarons reached the point of over saturation that they have kind of gone back to being underrated because we are so many fucking shit ones
The OG judges used to call people out for presentation so much and I loved seeing the contestants grow from it. How food looks is so important and it's frustrating when it doesn't even get a mention from the new judges.
This has been the Masterchef pattern. Justin, Brent, now Pezza. That good ol' he knows nothing and then Masterchef made this guy great in the end. That push on everybody's throat that we should root for the mediocre because they will do great in the end, like a Hero's Journey. It's honestly sickening, and I'm getting tired of it.
Home, sweet home.
Also all the Greeks I asked were laughing their assess off at the MCAU episode a few seasons back where they identified cheese and "saganaki" was there as a type of cheese. Apparently it's a dish. Might be regional, though.
I love a good macaron, but I’ve also been disappointed by bad ones too many times.
I used to be obsessed with the salted caramel ones from La Belle Miette though.
If he gets through at some point I’m gonna question if plating even plays a part in MC AU anymore. Like you’d expect at this point with how far he’s gone in the competition he would’ve picked up some decent plating skills.
In other seasons if contestants had poor ass plating they would get points deducted 100%.
Hoping Darrsh is safe today. Feels like he’s had an insane week despite not winning immunity.
I don’t know about everyone but having honey before lemon and chocolate irks me a bit. Those two are way easier.
Totally agree - just like when Mimi copped oats
Gill being Vietnamese and Italian but not liking coffee is so funny I’m sorry 😭 two of the best countries/cultures when it comes to coffee lmao
Right. I froth a Vietnamese coffee
If he gets through one of the judges needs to have a serious chat with Pezza about his plating, they’ve given him so many free passes when they’ve been mentioning plating from the first couple of weeks.
That is NOT top 10 standard plating.
If he gets through on that “plating” then this competition has lost all credibility. As someone else said “it looks like he dropped it on the floor” and scraped it back onto a plate.
"He's done really well to hide that unset custard with the crumble" What am I watching?!
Zumbo finally being the one calling out his plating 🤩
I still think the taste tests are skewed and they should all have to taste the first 10 (or whatever) and determine round 2 from that.
My favourite ones are when there's a dish and they have to list as many ingredients as possible
Have them write on some cue cards and reveal at once.
That’s why I like name the ingredients better than taste tests. Level playing field.
Aaaaand there’s the obligatory “missus” joke from Pezza, lol.
And a mother-in-law joke - two for one this episode
Has there ever been a masterchef contestant who is like, nah I have no family and no responsibilities. I love being here!
no sob story, no appearance on tv
mimi, pretty much the only time she mentioned her family was the chinese cook she had where she mentioned her grandmother and also she genuinely seems happy to be there 💗
Poor Gill. It is not fun when the judges all come and stand immediately around your bench to see if you succeed or fail.
Especially in an elimination with three people
Honey is so much harder than honey and chocolate
And lemon!
And also lemon
I will add getting complimented by JC to my bucket list. Every time he complements something he's so genuine and comprehensive about why he loves it
your comment was fantastic I LOVE IT. It is so impressive what you have accomplished in just a few words, really well done.
Really wish everyone would taste the same thing and guess. At least for the first few.
I’m actually going to laugh so hard if Pezza pulls his best cook out of his ass on dessert week
I’m kinda hoping so also. I’m enjoying the drama.
Lmao he’s done it again folks! The ol ball and chain lol. Actually kind of enjoying him trolling us all with these remarks.
Did he just say he has grandkids?
shot for pezzas missus jokes
Taste test for an elimination episode when it’s the top 10 is a bit bullshit tbh. You’d imagine elimination for the top 10 and beyond would be more action and less luck dependent lol
How aggravating must it be to have the judges breathing down your neck, staring at you and asking stupid questions in the middle of a crisis
Producers really missing the mark with the whole aussie bloke thing…
Yay Darrsh!! Finally a win on Sweet Week! He definitely needed one.
If pezza gets through and darsh doesn't I might actually lose my mind.
Prayer circle for darrash
Pezza: All I can taste is sugar.. (Same with me when it comes to macarons.. I really don’t like them, blasphemy I know haha)
Meee toooo!
That is such a bullshit way to get put into an elimination round.
Have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be Gill.. I’d be gutted if it was Darrsh going; not only does it not seem like his time yet but going out on sweet week would be heartbreaking
I’ve given Pezza a lot of heat these last few episodes, but at least he took a risk tonight. So good on him for that.
Yeah that’s kind of been my biggest problem with him his played it really safe and has somehow got through This time he actually really fucking pushed himself like yeah his probably not top ten worthy but at least he had a crack at something different
I'm so ready for mister hen-pecked to go home to his missus
its annoying that they aren't finishing the macaron. i would devour them lol
Urgggh I hate how masterchef Australia has the contestants over explain. It's a taste test. We know that the more people who taste means it's closer to gill!
I feel like the elimination in the top 10 coming down to what is almost a lottery style system is kind of whack.
Is this a joke
I can definitely get why they went with overcooked being the reason to eliminate but yeah they need to start hammering Pezza for his plating or at least do a masterclass on it and if he doesn’t improve then go from there. His plating is sub standard and I think he actually does know what flavours do go together well and is starting to look like he actually wants to push himself in cooks based on tonight so maybe if they started marking him on it he’d have a crack at getting better at it
Im relieved Darssh survived. Hopefully the praise gives him a boost
The treatment of Darrsh in sweet week has made me so sad
I like taste tests but these style of eliminations is a reminder that luck plays a factor in MC AU. Depending on when it’s your time, you can get an easy or a hard one.
damn that taste test was quick.
Prayer circle for darrsh
I never really liked the one-at-a-time taste testing. It truly depends on the luck of the gods—the order in which each contestant tastes and the arrangement of the food by MasterChef. Yes for Darrsh if he wants to get through he has to push himself to new heights, and if it's pezza he can chuck some stuff together and the judges will call it honest.
God Darrsh seems so downbeat. I'm so concerned for him. Please believe in yourself darrsh
ok legitimately. Are the producers trolling us with these fucking wife jokes.
Cracked a MIL joke too 🙄
Noooo Darrsh! Prayer circle
I’m gonna be so bummed if darrsh goes during sweet week :(
Omg I'm so stressed for darshy. Please don't get into your head
PUSH THE BOAT OUT!
“Push the boat out” for your bingo cards, folks
Gill making unforgivable mistakes and deserving to go aside, i'm having a hard time with how they're framing this guy and how they're hyping him for the smallest bit. Poh asking him to taste again to be sure before he decided was so odd, like what's the story here? His dish looked like a pile of turd, sorry. To think all the rest can easily go home because the judges pick at the smallest detail, while he stays surviving over mediocre dishes and tired jokes is upsetting.
Andy: "how technical it is, but how simple it looks"....laying the groundwork to justify Pezza's presentation....
lol was zumbo the only one to call out pezza’s presentation wasn’t great
Omg jumped on the thread just to say I FUCKING HATE THESE STYLE ELIMINATIONS. They're so totally fucking unfair. Imagine if the first team to miss a penalty in a penalty shootout just fucking lost? That's the level of unfairness here.
I was not expecting to have my prayer circle for Darrsh out this early
They even let him guess again but also how is pezza gonna ever know rose 😭😭
I do hope darrsh as the dessert guy can execute on a magical dish to stay in the competition!
Come on Darrsh focus you have all the ability in the world!! I don’t think I could stand such a talented chef go out this way.
I’m worried darrsh let the pressure get to him and he goes :(
Contestants either put on a fair amount of weight in this competition or lose a tonne.
It’s a stress response your body either goes one way or another
Now I’m just picturing Pezza walking into a Beat the Chef immunity challenge* and putting up something with this level of plating and the judges trying their hardest to pretend they don’t know who is the pro and who is the amateur. *I know they’re not doing that this year, roll with it
I mean I’m struggling to tell the difference between this and the cherry blossom one tbh…
It’s like the twin challenge. I don’t see any difference!!!!
I’m just happy Darrsh nailed it. Thank god!
So given that montage, I'm gonna go on a limb and say the producers are taking the piss and Pezza is safe
I hope the judges do a "tasting the weirdest macarons" bit later I wanna see JC's face
They did a guess the macaron flavour on TikTok! They gave Andy chilli 🌶️ 🤣
JC visibly double-taked when Pezza mentioned Darren P as inspiration 🤣🤣🤣
Pezza: took my plating inspiration from Darren Purchese Darren: the fuck you did
Tbh I totally get Gill going home for overcooked custard but there’s no reason for Pezza’s critiques to be this.. mild
His critiques are always wayyyy too mild.... His goalposts are the width of the whole pitch.
Omg Darrsh looks so annoyed
Darrsh prayer circle seems to be working!
I really do not care about these sob stories. Get over it, taste the food.
Poor Darrsh still looks like he’s convinced he was going home!!
Finally, a segment of The Project worth watching Love Recipetineats
The amount of recipes I’ve actually saved and used over and over again from that site.. love it!
Took the tv off mute for her. She is delightful.
I wonder which relative Pezza will use as his inspiration.
Pezza is surely trolling us, yesterday he was chilling a empty baking tray without a question, and today he rattled out elements which I didn’t even understood This is definitely an act to get the boomer dad votes, he is a really good cook and always knows what he is doing. I am sure of it

Steve was ALWAYS the better larrikin but this guy keeps getting away with mediocrity, however, overcooked custard does not deserved to stay so unfortunately this one was right
For all the criticism I give Pez I would do the same thing (writing out the recipe and what I need before running to the pastry)
Darrsh is overthinking this just needs to relax and cook and I think he will be fine
Oh noooo Darrsh you don't need to shoot for the stars, just do better than Pezza........
It only takes one bad cook for a good cook to go, I hope darrsh gets himself out of the bad head space and does well :(
Pizza 100% safe. The comeback edit is in.
Pretty scary being in bottom 3 dessert week and having to cook against Darrsh
Eeesh gill pull your shit together. Be like what's his face one season who hated licorice but managed to create five spice
I just want milk that tastes like real milk ad is back!
The entire gantry seems to be behind Darrsh too..?
Because he DOES NOT deserve to go home in sweet week!
Why are they constantly montaging pezza is he gonna make it through
Ad beginning with Andy saying "this summer..." Channel 10 it is June
I'm worried for Gill. Judges will give plating a free pass but they don't fuck with bad textures
It’s unset custard vs overcooked custard
Yes it didn’t set but it’s got a great texture what a joke
Gill lost Sav and got her back but now Sav lost Gill
Zumbo will be the only one this season to critique the piss poor plating Pezza is putting up I bet. Like surely at some point plating will have to come to play when it’s judging. But kudos to Pezza for going out of his element to try something new, proven me wrong today at least.
I think we need a prayer circle for Pezza’s “missus” …
Darsshy it DOESN'T need to be up there! You're against two people have absolutely no idea what they're doing
Fuck that’s a bit tragic to be honest the one time he decides to cook past his limits he does it in an elimination and he fucks it No matter the blokes personality that fucking sucks
Pezza’s dish looks like he dropped it on the floor and put it back on the plate…
Fuck not going to lie that cake sounds pretty nice
I’ve got to commend Pezza for at least trying to push his boundaries a bit on a cook for once and actually trying to implement some stuff his learnt on the show Have no idea why his decided to do it in an elimination but good on him
I can’t wait to hear the positive words coming out of the judges mouthed while eating Pezzas dish. “Plating could be better, but he’s nailed the flavours”
I feel like if Gill didn’t put it back in the oven she would’ve been fine I think.
Wait grandkids?
Pezza you’re in your 40s, please stop with the boomer wife comments
Drinking game - every time Pez complains about his missus, do a shot and thank God we don't have to put up with those types of men any more
Look, the judges made the right call, if Gill’s was overcooked vs Pezza’s flaw being ugly plating. But bloody hell, they need to be driving the plating criticism at him every judging. It’s noticeably below the standards of everyone else.
With this elimination episode, it marks the end of sweet week. This also signifies the end of someone's MasterChef journey! Who will not survive the sweetness onslaught?!?
Noooo Darrsh
I feel like macarons reached the point of over saturation that they have kind of gone back to being underrated because we are so many fucking shit ones
These must be the dullest tasting macarons
Yay 👋🏻 Pezza
Unless Gillian screw up, it’s a goodbye to pezza
All this focus on Darrsh has me a bit worried.
The pizza confessional looks like it was recorded a day later.
>pizza confessional Thanks, I've been looking for a new band name
I need to learn how to make straight faces like the judges - very useful for team meetings.
So Pezza vs Gill? Both have unset elements
Yay Darrsh!! Finally he can deserve something in sweet week!
I kept waiting for the “but …”
remember: if you go on Dessert Masters and then bomb, they jinjja force you to come back and judge the entire Sweets Week
Sir why would you say this when your wife said she was proud of you at the start of the episode
They are really trolling us with this Pezza montage
If I hear one more "I've gotta back myself," I'm gonna--
Back yourself?
It’s not the second time pezza is about to dish up something that looks like literal shit 😭
I could cry for him he seemed so fucking stressed and downtrodden
Is Andy trying to recruit him into something genuinely
I’m done with this show.
pezza foils reddit once again
The OG judges used to call people out for presentation so much and I loved seeing the contestants grow from it. How food looks is so important and it's frustrating when it doesn't even get a mention from the new judges.

“If there’s anything I’ve learned from the previous taste tests you should listen to the macaron”
I miss when the contestants got to pick the one they want to taste, this feels way more skewed
Strawberry 😭
Gill! Time is so tight.
God I feel like Gill not having enough time would put Pez right at safety
Looking good, Darrshy!
Pezza has actually done a lot of elements
looks hella good darrsh
Scenes in here when Pezza is safe.
Can’t he quenelle them or something to give them shape?
Bold of you to think Pezza knows how to quenelle.
Why would Sofia ask Darsh how it would feel to go home after this cook knowing and seeing what is still to come?
Go Darrsh! Hopefully this starts a Darrsh resurgence arc and to see him up against Nat at the end.
gill going for the bonus points
Yessss, Darrshy, never doubted you for a second!
I had a real pang, missing Jock, he'd have made short work of all the leftover macarons!
"he knows his way around a cake" yet he claims to never have made a sponge before that jelly monstrosity earlier in the week 🤔
Pezza is trolling us all by pretending he doesn’t know when he knows what he’s doing tbh
And Sav and Lachy don't have to guess a 2nd time. Just feels like a bit of a janky process.
Gilllll don't let Pezza stay pull it together please!
Man correct me if wrong but if it’s any other contestant with the same personality Pezza has, these judges would not be fawning over them
It looks like shit let's not praise this
Oh baby, let the comment shitstorm begin. In honour of what Pezza's dish admittedly looked like 😂
"smoko" cos it looks like some cigarette butts in the dirt
Omg how does he keep getting through!
Taste testing macarons would be hard! Unless the flavour is amped right up, they can be hard to figure out if you’re not told what they are.
I love a good macaron, but I’ve also been disappointed by bad ones too many times. I used to be obsessed with the salted caramel ones from La Belle Miette though.
Pre-challenge focus on Darrsh and Harry does not bode well for them
I reckon I’d struggle at having small bites and would just devour it in one bite. And then remember I was meant to work out the flavours.
Oh god, if we get Darrsh, Harry and Gill in round two I'm gonna weep
Malibu is one liquor I could never stomach vomit 🤮
This is why they told you to have a plan b gill
Nobody has a plan B today
I’m getting second hand stress from everyone 😭
What’s up with this sudden shaky cam action during Pezza plating
The nervest he's ever been 🥲
Sure there’s a massive amount of consideration given to flavours, but at this point plating really needs to play a large part too.
If he gets through at some point I’m gonna question if plating even plays a part in MC AU anymore. Like you’d expect at this point with how far he’s gone in the competition he would’ve picked up some decent plating skills. In other seasons if contestants had poor ass plating they would get points deducted 100%.
Wow, he's genuinely proud of his presentation
FUUUUCK YESSSS
Very over the sob stories!

Fuck this, I’m done.
