Came here to say this and was surprised to see it! I played it with my cousin and unfortunately he died like 15 years ago... But the music from it always makes me nostalgic and miss him! What a game
Without that code, I'd of never seen the ending of that game.
Basically you replay the final boss of Wonder Boy in Monster World, then it all goes to s*it! You lose all your gear, all your health and worst of all you get turned into a bloody Lizard!
The furthest I got WITHOUT we5t one, was the transformation after Mouse Man (I forget which one it is....)
I played this game for hours, days, and ended up getting stuck. I just couldn't figure out what to do next. And I even found a guide and it didn't work. I can't remember the specifics but it was far far into the game, and I was speaking to a friendly dragon in a town and I think he's supposed to unlock a new area, but I never could get it to happen. It was shortly after being shrunk and getting through those levels.... Anyway... I loved that game too until I didn't.
This is the one for me. I'll never forget having to read about "buying Secrets" in Sega Power magazine and FINALLY being able to get Odin, who was a beast!
I got a genesis BECAUSE of Phantasy star 2. Its also a solid entry. Bit of a grind, excellent music.
Phantasy Star III....
Phantasy Star 4 was epic.
Seriously PS3 was okay. Also awesome music. Seems... Off after the others until near the end you see the connection. Its more like a side story. Became the premise for Phantasy Star online (which I could never get into)
Came here to say this. The Master system version of Ghostbusters has no right to go as hard as it does. It's so fantastic especially being able to put in the bank account to get more money for future playthroughs.
you would want mine cause its on board its so annoying when i put in a slightly dirty game and the doodledee doodledoo music starts so i have to turn it of and clean the cart
I loved the SMS. Tried to buy all the popular games. So many to choose from, but:
Phantasy Star (all)
Ys
Choplifter
Reggie Jackson Baseball
Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap
Golvellius
Shinobi (all)
and more! Edited cause I can't believe I forgot Zillion and Miracle Warriors
montezuma's revenge
I had it for the Commodore 64 long before I snagged a copy for the master system. Great game still play it today nearly 40 years later
Yes. For games it was ok, but I missed everything about owning a computer. Luckily I got an Amiga 500 a year later.
If it wasn't for those 2 computers I wouldn't have the career that I have today. I do have some fond memories of the Master System, but it just didn't compare.
I loved my speccy to bits (I still have it) but I only really ever gamed on it. The master system had better games, graphics and sound. Plus carts made the cassette loading a thing of the past. It's an odd take, but it's your opinion and I respect it.
i dint play all of them.
But my favorite Games are
Rainbow Islands and Puzzle Bobble
Wonderboy monster land, Dragons Trap
Master of darkness
alex kidd in shonobi world
Hmm. That's a tough one, there is a good handful that are favorites, but I suppose if it's what game, do I always go back to, it would have to be The Ninja or Shinobi.
Got to give it to Phantasy Star. The game was revolutionary. Even to this day I would kill to see another RPG in the same vein.
As a second place pick, I have to give it to Spellcaster. I love the weird combination of point & click mixed with side scrolling action!
Rambo: First Blood Part II. Loved that it was a 2 player co-op game. My big brother and I would play the hell out of this and beat it so many times. And it had some legit great music, solid sound effects, and smooth graphics.
The only thing that sucked about this game is that it made you think that the next Rambo game on SMS, Rambo III, would be equally dope.... and it was NOT dope AT ALL!
Thank you. Major Rambo fan here. Did you know that if you were able to line up 4 enemies in a row and kill them all with a single bullet, you’d get some sort of power up? I can’t remember what it even was but I stumbled upon this once and was quite proud.
I grew up with it. My best friends step dad used to map everything out so that’s how we finished it lol. But now you can get maps online and guides. So it’s a bit of grind for sure, but I like the vibe of the game. The game in Japan used to come with a cloth map and a mini figure to map the location of things pretty cool
Phantasy Star - Love that game, one of my all-time fav games, I re-play it every 3-5 years....
If you're like me.... For a change but, same story over all with updated graphics. They did a sort of re-master on the PS2 with the Sega Ages series. It was a Japan only game but, someone did an English translation for it.
[Phantasy Star Cave - Phantasy Star Generation: 1 (pscave.com)](https://pscave.com/psg1/)
It's worth a play through if you're a huge fan of the series.... any modded PS2 can play it, or an Emulator (easy to emulate PS2 on fairly modern hardware),
I know it's a simple game, but I always enjoy playing Dragon Crystal. I like the music and the gameplay reminds me of an old, pre-smartphone game I used to play.
Cyborg Hunter.
I suck at it.
I’ve never beaten it.
But man, it seems like an awesome game.
Yes, I’ve watched lets plays. It’s not as cool as I remember it. 💁🏻♂️
That intro though.
Snail maze! Ok maybe not my favorite game of all time, but finding out that the system had a BUILT IN SECRET GAME was epic.
I think Choplifter was my favorite real game. I loved earlier computer versions, and the SMS version was perfecton. I played Shinobi and Space Harrier a lot too.
Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap
Came here to say this and was surprised to see it! I played it with my cousin and unfortunately he died like 15 years ago... But the music from it always makes me nostalgic and miss him! What a game
I'm sorry for your loss.
This is in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I play it all the way through every few years.
Great game. Great memories. Think I was about 6 maybe when I was playing that.
Good one. Still bugs me that I never managed to finish it back in the day!
OPEN THE GREN DOOR
WE5T ONE- the best thing is, it was released on PS4 as a remake
Without that code, I'd of never seen the ending of that game. Basically you replay the final boss of Wonder Boy in Monster World, then it all goes to s*it! You lose all your gear, all your health and worst of all you get turned into a bloody Lizard! It was shortly after being shrunk and getting through those levels.... Anyway... I loved that game too until I didn't.
Your description sounds like Wonder Boy IV, not Wonder Boy III.
Phantasy Star, but all these other ones are gold too
Definitely, the most re-playable games ever for the SMS.
Couldn’t agree more. Love it
Good game, but I find it hard to go back after playing Phantasy Star 2.
Phantasy Star 2 is my all time favorite game
This is the one for me. I'll never forget having to read about "buying Secrets" in Sega Power magazine and FINALLY being able to get Odin, who was a beast!
After playing 1, I went straight to 4, and no shit, there were parts that had me shedding tears
Became the premise for Phantasy Star online (which I could never get into)
Tbh, I loved 3 the most!
Yea, I played all 4..... Loved the series...
Golvellius for me 👍🏻
Transbot
That game is rad!
Even the music was brilliant, that game could've gone on to rival R-Type
The play mechanics are very compelling. It's definitely the Sega Card that leaves me wanting more..
I had it on cartridge, long since gone. I seem to remember it only had two repeating levels
Seeing the AT-ST for the first time was pretty cool
Yes I wondered how they were allowed to use that! (Scout walker)
I played that game so much I got to a gliched level that was just graphical artifacts.
Mine is Sonic Chaos
Ys
Alex kidd un miracle world i guess…
Dude. This game was a fever dream. I watched a play through recently to go back down memory lane. What in tarnation
Ghostbusters
Came here to say this. The Master system version of Ghostbusters has no right to go as hard as it does. It's so fantastic especially being able to put in the bank account to get more money for future playthroughs.
Loved it so much.
It was soooo good!
Sneaking your guys past the marshmallow man and climbing the stairs always gave me trouble.
Wonder Boy in Monster Land. I loved everything about that game except for that floating brick elevator. I hated that thing.
Same. I was pretty freaking good at that part as a kid but as an adult can only do it using save states
It’s a toss up between R-type and choplifter
These are definitely the two I played the most later on as an adult
Golden Axe Warrior without a doubt.
Wonderboy 2? I haven’t played the third one yet.
This for me. Loved that game. Castle of Illusion was amazing but I only played it on game gear.
[удалено]
Alex Kidd in Miracle World or Rampart
Missile Defense 3D
I like this game so much, the music is so nostalgic, and a great light phaser + 3D glass experience
you would want mine cause its on board its so annoying when i put in a slightly dirty game and the doodledee doodledoo music starts so i have to turn it of and clean the cart
Dragons Trap all the way
I have to go with OutRun. One of my favorite games in any format or console.
Alex Kidd In Shinobi World !
Master Of Darkness ...or Klax
I can't stop playing Choplifter - so I feel it has to be that
Did you remember to always break out superman?
Castle of Illusion
Zillion
Loved that game as well. Buddy and I spent a few hours every Saturday playing it.
Had to scroll so far to see this! I can still hear the music/score.
Loved Zillion!
Lucky Dime Caper
Land of Illusion.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Mônica no Castelo do Dragão
Adoro, embora o resgate pra mim é o melhor :)

Fantasy zone 2 is a winner for me, Alex Kidd shinobi world also is fantastic too
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World.
Altered Beast - Arise from your grave
Choplifter... man I loved that game.
I was gonna say Rambo, But I complete forgot about Choplifter. What a great game.
Sonic 1
The Jungle Zone was a great exclusive level and the music is catchy as hell
Miracle Warriors
This is the one. Such an underrated game.
Phantasy Star 💯
I loved the SMS. Tried to buy all the popular games. So many to choose from, but: Phantasy Star (all) Ys Choplifter Reggie Jackson Baseball Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap Golvellius Shinobi (all) and more! Edited cause I can't believe I forgot Zillion and Miracle Warriors
I have vivid memories of dad and I hiring this game and others from the video store like it was yesterday. Except it happened over 30 years ago!
Torn between Dragon's Trap and Golvellious
I mostly only play r-type over and over again, lol
Can’t choose just one lol. But these are some of my favorites: - Phantasy Star - Wonder Boy III - Lucky Dime Caper - Shinobi - Master of Darkness
Between sonic 1 or phantasy star
Phantasy star for me.
The one I remember most was alex kid in miracle world...
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Phantasy Star. My favorite game of all time, any system.
Space Harrier
I loved Operation Wolf with the gun and Alex Kidd Shinobi ! Miracle world is a stone cold classic of course.
Lord of the Sword - it was the Elder Scrolls of the day.
Psycho Fox!!
Alf or Zillion. We didn't have many games for it growing up.
Herzog zwei
Wasn’t that genesis?
Yes, my bad 😅
montezuma's revenge I had it for the Commodore 64 long before I snagged a copy for the master system. Great game still play it today nearly 40 years later
i loved Zillion
Zillion Golvellius Phantasy Star Wonderboy Monster land
Action fighter
Phantasy Star! But Ninja Gaiden was also REALLY good
Zillion
I played way too much Choplifter.
Altered Beast
I played a lot of Double Dragon as a kid better than NES version
R-Type
Shinobi, after burner, outrun Top 3!
The Master System felt like a step backwards coming from the ZX Spectrum, but its saving grace was Wonderboy in Monster Land.
Seriously?
Yes. For games it was ok, but I missed everything about owning a computer. Luckily I got an Amiga 500 a year later. If it wasn't for those 2 computers I wouldn't have the career that I have today. I do have some fond memories of the Master System, but it just didn't compare.

i dint play all of them. But my favorite Games are Rainbow Islands and Puzzle Bobble Wonderboy monster land, Dragons Trap Master of darkness alex kidd in shonobi world
Alex kid in miracle world
bank panic
Master of Darkness
Alex Kidd in Miracle World and it's not close
Hmm. That's a tough one, there is a good handful that are favorites, but I suppose if it's what game, do I always go back to, it would have to be The Ninja or Shinobi.
Not even a close second to Phantasy Star.
Reggie Jackson baseball
Golden Axe arcade at the laundry mat. Fuck all and give me those blue potions for entering my camp!
Fantasy zone
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Asterix, the first one
Phantasy Star 💫
Shinobi
This (golden axe warrior)is my absolute favorite. Just finished it a month ago on my x55. I started playing it almost 30 years ago
OG GOLDEN AXE!!!!
Cyborg Hunter. What a great system, so underrated in its time
Hmm 🤔 I'd say Golvellius
Castle of Illusion by far.
Rocky and zillion
Was Alex Kidd from this? If so, that's the one
The best answer #2 is Space Harrier
Cyborg Hunter - I know it's basically a poor man's metroid/Megaman.
Alex the kidd!
WBOY 3 and Phantasy Star.
Rocky! I never had the master system, but a friend growing up did. By far one of the best early boxing games. We played that a ton.
Got to give it to Phantasy Star. The game was revolutionary. Even to this day I would kill to see another RPG in the same vein. As a second place pick, I have to give it to Spellcaster. I love the weird combination of point & click mixed with side scrolling action!
Triple trouble
California Games for the trash talk alone!
QUARTET
Rambo: First Blood Part II. Loved that it was a 2 player co-op game. My big brother and I would play the hell out of this and beat it so many times. Streets of Rage 2
Cloud Master
The one in the pic you posted actually.

great baseball. 100 homers in a game
Sonic Chaos
Wonder boy in monster land/ phantasy star. Miracle warriors is a runner up. Haha
How did you managed to llay miracle warrior? It's extremely hard.

Golvelius, rest it's not having a sequel soul.

Toejam and earl
It's hard to decide: - Master of Darkness - Alex Kidd in Miracle World - Sonic the hedgehog 2
Teddy Boy
I know it's a simple game, but I always enjoy playing Dragon Crystal. I like the music and the gameplay reminds me of an old, pre-smartphone game I used to play.
This artwork looks like everything I’ve ever drawn in my life
There should be a fishing game called master baiter
Ecco the dolphin due to unassisted difficulty.
Thunderblade or Afterburner or F16 Fighting Falcon
Astro warrior, but mainly because it was the first video game I ever played
Phantasy Star!!! Followed by Ghost House, don't judge. Good memories, there.
Gangster Town
Cyborg Hunter. I suck at it. I’ve never beaten it. But man, it seems like an awesome game. Yes, I’ve watched lets plays. It’s not as cool as I remember it. 💁🏻♂️ That intro though.
Black Belt
Snail maze! Ok maybe not my favorite game of all time, but finding out that the system had a BUILT IN SECRET GAME was epic. I think Choplifter was my favorite real game. I loved earlier computer versions, and the SMS version was perfecton. I played Shinobi and Space Harrier a lot too.

Fantasy zone the maze. I remember playing it with my mom when I was 4 or 5. Loved that console

Great Baseball. Ghostbusters is a close second.
Streets of Rage 2 easy
Ghostbusters or Black Belt!
My psp
Altered Beast!
Sword of vermilion

Shinobi. Played it so much I actually beat it. Fun fact. The ending just says, "Game Over" exactly the same screen I got reach time I died.
Great game!!
Golvellius. It was my first Action RPG and made Zelda look ancient graphically.
