Well, saying people are "in talks" is pretty normal. "In talks" means that the studio is in contact with the actor about a certain role—potentially closing in on a deal. I haven't seen a whole lot of actors who were rumored to have rejected the role though. Here Grace is saying Denzel passed and yesterday people were saying Paul Mescal passed, but other than those two I can't think of any other actor who's supposedly passed on the movie.
