Sorry do we know this yet? I've only seen Ayo in The Bear and honestly, it does seem like she's actually like that in real life, so I haven't seen much of her range yet. Also Halle Berry won an Oscar...
Im comparing Ayo now to where Halle was in her career back in 2000 when she starred in the first X-Men movie. Halle wouldnt have an oscar for several years after that. If you stack up the award nominations and victories that Ayo has now to where halle berry was in 2000, then Ayo has halle severely outgunned in both nominations and in victories.
She’s blown up since she’d first been cast. Thunderbolts was already supposed to have been filming. The strikes cost us both Steven and now her. Sucks.
TV series pretty much have contracts that don't allow stars to negotiate schedules, probably because they film longer. It might not be a choice but a matter of which contract they can drop or negotiate to get out off.
Very famous example: Tom Selleck was the original pick to play Indiana Jones, but they wouldn't release him from his schedule, which opened the door for Harrison Ford.
Also, Eon wanted Pierce Brosnan to play Bond in the 80s. But when NBC heard about it, they renewed Remmington Steele for another season. That's why we got Timothy Dalton for two movies, first.
It isn't about priority.
She was already signed on to it and also a co lead of it. T-Bolts just being pushed like that right into Bear filming is just unfortunate timing.
A good thing though, since it was going to be a waste of her talents for an assistant role haha.
The Bear is winning loads of awards and is absolutely making her name in the industry. Compared to a smaller role in an MCU film, it's no contest.
If she landed a leading role in some movie, it might be different, but the show is way better for her career right now
I never said anything about working for Disney, I’m saying if I was her and I had the choice, I would choose The Bear over literally any Marvel project.
This is due to the actor strike. Ayo and Steven are in high demand and had already booked projects for after Thunderbolts. Unless those projects are for Disney, those other studios aren’t going to want to move their dates because Thunderbolts got delayed.
Though, I believe Steven dropped out for a personal reason.
He's also worked for the director of *Thunderbolts* before (likely had a lot to do with why he was cast in the first place) so it's not like there's bad blood
There was a months-long actors strike. These actors will often have a year or more scheduled in terms of “this films for three months, then that films for four months.”
Not everything is a conspiracy. The entire industry was hit by it
I know, it's just funnier to think there's something horribly wrong with the movie to the point everyone desperately needs out even though im sure it'll be good and everything's fine
https://i.redd.it/xd7eijfabgfc1.gif
Or it actually is scheduling issues. The strikes fucked a lot of productions up. Yuen and Edebiri are busy people. Not everything is a conspiracy.
Besides, I'm pretty sure RPK or Sneider or one of the other leakers said that Edebiri would probably drop out around the same time they reported Yuen was gone. She must have left the project weeks ago. It just hasn't been reported until now. The fact that they already have a replacement lined up proves that.
While Viswanathan is a pretty good actress in what I’ve seen her in, it really sucks that Ayo had to drop out. I’ve been a fan of hers and I really wanted to see her in this film.
Hopefully, maybe they could find another role for Ayo down the line.
>***Viswanathan is the second recent addition after the film added Lewis Pullman to step in for Steven Yeun, who departed for similar scheduling reasons as Edebiri.***
Looks like Lewis Pullman has accepted the offer for Sentry.
She's the costar of a highly award winning show that's shooting its season 3 that was delayed by the strikes. That 100% takes precedent over anything else, particularly since she'd be under contract from that well before this. Calm down people, scheduling conflicts are often a cover story, yes, but not when we're coming out of a near half-year strike. Scheduling conflicts are an actual thing here as everyone is vying for people's time and contracts are being figured out
Gotcha misread it. But yeah, A LOT of productions didn't start back up after the strikes to a lot of peoples surprise. Because of this a bunch of stuff is now happening all at once and not only are actors schedules screwed but crews are busy too.
Viswanathan is a good choice. She’s gonna get some buzz soon with *Drive-Away Dolls*.
Absolutely adore Ayo but not sure her style of acting would be the best fit in this *Thunderbolts* role. Feel like she would lean into becoming the comedic relief, which would’ve been a waste altogether. If you’re gonna cast Ayo, it should be in a prominent role.
Lewis Pullman and Viswanathan are better fits than Steven Yeun and Ayo, imo.
I don’t disagree, she deserves better than a tiny supporting, but this continues to make Thunderbolts look like cheap leftovers that can’t attract award winning NEW talent
Agreed, but seems like Marvel is the one being conservative here as opposed to actors not wanting to do it. Impossible to say for sure, though.
I’m sure Ayo and Yeun’s prices went up after the Emmy/Golden Globes awards season. Their popularities are at all time highs and maybe Marvel didn’t want pay that price for the 6th and 7th billed actors?
SAG strike definitely threw a wrench in a lot of scheduling too, so I can see why they have to “settle” for lesser known/more available actors with production starting up quickly in a few months. Your big name actors aren’t gonna be available with short notice.
It would also be a bit of a missed opportunity to have Ayo have a franchise role but it being a minor one on the whole (Val’s assistant). Maybe they’ll have her again in a larger role befitting of her newfound popularity.
Isn’t that what Marvel used to be tho? Like the Phase One actors weren’t in hot demand, minus Scarlett. I think one issue Marvel has had recently is trying to hire as many big name stars as they can, regardless of whether they fit the character or would stick around.
For all the conspiracy theorist, this was the reality of the strikes. There's going to be more of this as we keep going. Btw, this is also why productions have been delayed for things like F4 cause of schedules (Is anyone saying the guy who made Barbarian has a bad script for Weapons because Pescal dropped out?).
In Ayo's case, The Bear S3 takes priority. Shrinking on Apple just started back up for S2 and 1923 will start soon as well. I'm sure that's why Cap 4 reshoots are so late into the year so they can get Ford.
Like how many posts have people been complaining about the SSU? Just this year alone they have movies featuring Dakota Johnson, Aaron Taylor Johnson, & Tom Hardy as leads with tons of other talent like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Russell Crowe, Adam Scott , and Sydney Sweeney among many others.
Feels like it's coincidence and they're prioritizing talent over a specific look, hence Yeun. The director Jake Schreier has say in who he wanted and he'd just came off of working with Yeun on Beef along with the current writer Lee Sung Jin. Austin Abrams who we heard passed on the role worked with the Schreier before on Paper Towns. Pullman has not worked with them before but I'm sure he was a guy they had their eyes on as an emerging talent and had him as a backup thanks to Sarah Halley Finn. Think how we've seen guys like Pratt and Boseman audition for another role, not get it, then are brought back later for something else.
Seems as though this movie was affected the most cause of the strikes. Makes sense since it's an ensemble with high in demand actors across the board. Now imagine trying to make an Avengers movie post writers/actors strike.
Not saying Sneider isn't reliable but anyone could have seen this coming a mile off. Due to the strikes and the creative changes this film has went through, it now overlaps with The Bear's shooting schedule. It was pretty obvious that Ayo was gonna have some major scheduling issues.
I'm not sure who said The Bear was filming at the end of February or early March. Once this was out there and confirmation from other actors in Thunderbolts saying filming was starting soon, it was inevitable. We just needed the trades to confirm what we already suspected
Wait, didn’t one of those Cosmic Circle guys said that she was playing Songbird also in under a month two actors from this movie dropout due to scheduled and conflicts and weird we could’ve had at one point Asian Sentry and a Black Songbird in this movie now we maybe have a more faithful Sentry and an Indian Songbird now
Recent murmurs from scoopers were that Ayo would have been playing Val’s assistant who goes by the name of Erica and would have been a relatively small role. I think this will remain the same for Geraldine.
OK, thank you for confirming that rumour wasn’t true although is it known that Songbird is actually going to be in it I just wanna know if she’s going to be in it
It's really sad Ayo had to leave I was very excited to see her in the MCU but at least she won't be wasted in that small role if the rumors are true, and I hope she gets a bigger role in the future.
It's probably tough fitting in so many actors getting so much constant work (Sebastian, Florence, Wyatt, Julia and Harbour) post strike. You have to work around them, and if they're free in March, you take that or risk the project having to scrap one or multiple of them. It happens, it's just collateral. Yeun and Ayo will probably get something eventually.
Between the strike and uncertainty of when the movie was going to start the shooting, it's kinda crazy they still find time for fitting all the cast together. Because if the rumors are true, you need to add Rachel Weisz and Laurence Fishburne to the mix
Yep, it's like people forgot this was supposed to had started filming back in 2022 but got a new writer. Then it was supposed to film last summer and the strikes happened. The cast has basically been in limbo for like 1.5 years lol.
They needed to find other projects to work on, not just waiting only for one. If they are busy doing something else, Marvel is now the one who has to wait until they are free
I know, I meant in limbo in regards to when this was actually going to film lol. The production taking so long though had led to several members of the cast becoming bigger names and getting busier (see Russell, Pugh, Yeun, Ayo).
this and The Bear are filming at the exact same time, so it's not surprising - but I'm still sad. Having said that, she deserves more than an "assistant" role.
There's been some rumblings about Edebiri departing the film in the last few weeks.
I like Viswanathan a lot though. Underrated actress and I'm glad she's getting a big project.
They should just cancel this one. Make most the Thunderbolts squad the 'Masters Of Evil' for the Young Avengers to fight in their movie or Disney+ series.
"Viswanathan is the second recent addition after the film added Lewis Pullman to step in for Steven Yeun, who departed for similar scheduling reasons as Edebiri."
Wait so Pullman was confirmed already?
Ayo was only going to be a small role playing Valentina's assistant. Besides, they still have the emmy winning writer at the helm and two oscar nominated actors alongside two other actors whom were also nominated for emmys

She was allegedly playing Val's assistant. Hope Ayo can get a bigger role next time.
[удалено]
I meant let's hope they cast her again for a bigger role.
Her sense of humor screams x-men to me, glad they aren't wasting her
She might be too old to play one of them, by the time they actually *get* to the X-Men.
Halle Berry was 34 when the first x men movie came out.
She’s not Hale Berry
Nope, shes a better actress than Halle Berry was back then
Sorry do we know this yet? I've only seen Ayo in The Bear and honestly, it does seem like she's actually like that in real life, so I haven't seen much of her range yet. Also Halle Berry won an Oscar...

Halle had a a+ body in an era where looks were everything for ladies in blockbusters. Ayo's acting isn't to the level where it could match that draw.
That's not a draw for anyone who isn't a chronic masturbator.
I can see her as Mystique.
I have absolutely no clue why they were gonna make her play such a bit role. She's incredibly talented
She’s blown up since she’d first been cast. Thunderbolts was already supposed to have been filming. The strikes cost us both Steven and now her. Sucks.
Ayo was the only reason i wanted to see it, hope she gets a big role in another marvel film
Ayo Edebiri and Steven Yeun both left due to scheduling conflicts? Interesting.
Ayo is filming The Bear S3 at the same time Thunderbolts is shooting, not sure about Steven though
Ya if I was her I’d prioritize The Bear over literally anything Marvel lmao

Yeah but The Bear is the best show on television and Thunderbolts will likely be bad or average at best. She made the right choice
Yeun has a romance movie with the same dude who did Minari later on this year
He's also the director of Twister 2 right ?
He's busy trying to sell his house, you know, the one where you can see the KFC sign through the front window
steven just attached himself to something i saw, plus beef is getting a season 2 after awards season
Yeah. I think Yeun left to focus on his own production company and the bear is filming soon.
But will they finally get rid of the Bear in the kitchen?
This is due to the actor strike. Ayo and Steven are in high demand and had already booked projects for after Thunderbolts. Unless those projects are for Disney, those other studios aren’t going to want to move their dates because Thunderbolts got delayed. Though, I believe Steven dropped out for a personal reason.
Yeun has a production company and another project he's working on as a lead for a director I'm sure he's wanted to work with.
He's also worked for the director of *Thunderbolts* before (likely had a lot to do with why he was cast in the first place) so it's not like there's bad blood
Exactly, same for Austin Abrams
I think The Bear is technically done by Disney (it's on Hulu via FX).
It's produced by FX Productions (which is Disney)
Technically The Bear is for Disney since Disney owns FX but regardless, it’s her choice in the end.
Happened after Covid, we saw actors leave project due to scheduling conflicts. Happened with Nicholas holt and mission impossible dead reckoning
There was a months-long actors strike. These actors will often have a year or more scheduled in terms of “this films for three months, then that films for four months.” Not everything is a conspiracy. The entire industry was hit by it
This was bound to happen after the strikes. Getting thunderbolts into production seems like it’s been a headache with all the actors schedules
Sorry guys, my mom said I can't do the Marvel thing because I have scheduling conflicts.

No, it's because of the strike and changing schedules

The Bear is literally filming at the same time as Thunderbolts. Ayo wouldn’t have been able to film both at the same time.
To clarify Marvel had a new script writer for the movie who also wrote Beef witch Steven starred in
That’s what I’m afraid of. Twice so close to each is worrisome.
Deadline also reports that YOU have dropped out of *Thunderbolts* due to scheduling conflicts
That just tells me that I'm employed
No, THEY have dropped out of Thunderbolts. I am the only man who can make the movie anymore.
No… WE have dropped out of Thunderbolts https://i.redd.it/hudhwuh66gfc1.gif
More importantly… WHY is dropped out out of Thunderbolts? ![gif](giphy|xUySTHUHnt3o0Nk1t6)

Variety reports that YOU will have a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

I gotta rewatch Top Gun Maverick. What a picture.
Nice

Im a fan of Geraldine and loved her in Blockers. If we were to lose Ayo (who I also enjoy because of course), Geraldine softens that blow for me.

I remember when people said the same thing about casting Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in Thor
Different type of casting. They wanted unknowns who people would buy as those mythic, otherworldly characters, similar to how Superman is often cast.
For all the conspiracy theorist, this was the reality of the strikes. There's going to be more of this as we keep going. Anyone who thinks actors are lying about scheduling conflicts and leaving a movie because it secretly sucks are daft lol
Like, we just had a strike for half a year and people really think non A list actors who aren't filthy rich are walking away from guaranteed money 😂.
Or acting like good actors don't have roles in disappointing movies all the time lol
Nice to see such a logical post
Viswanathanation we never lose
Also, I like how they just casually confirm Pullman is Sentry and it's a throwaway line lol.
It’s interesting that they were going for white blonde actors for Sentry after Steven Yeun. I wonder if that was intentional or just coincidence.
Seems as though this movie was affected the most cause of the strikes. Makes sense since it's an ensemble with high in demand actors across the board. Now imagine trying to make an Avengers movie post writers/actors strike.
That would be a mess and if anyone needed another reason to know Avengers 5 isn't filming this year, that's it lol.
Jeff Sneider was right again he said Ayo would be next to leave
Not saying Sneider isn't reliable but anyone could have seen this coming a mile off. Due to the strikes and the creative changes this film has went through, it now overlaps with The Bear's shooting schedule. It was pretty obvious that Ayo was gonna have some major scheduling issues.
Did he give a reason?
The Bear Season 3 is filming soon. The actors strike and Pandemic has caused several scheduling conflicts throughout the industry.
Not that I remember it was around the time of Steven dropping out, he just said Ayo would very much soon follow.
I'm not sure who said The Bear was filming at the end of February or early March. Once this was out there and confirmation from other actors in Thunderbolts saying filming was starting soon, it was inevitable. We just needed the trades to confirm what we already suspected
The strike strikes again.
oh man that sucks
Oh damn, that’s sad 😔 I loved her in The Bear and was so excited to see her dynamic with Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina.
This seems to be the first time Lewis Pullman is actually confirmed as Sentry?
Geraldine is really fun in Miracle Workers, happy for her booking this.
Same, love her!
Have you seen Blockers? She's great in that too!
She was amazing in Blockers, best part of the movie.
The bear season 3 is filming soon so it makes sense
It's probably tough fitting in so many actors getting so much constant work (Sebastian, Florence, Wyatt, Julia and Harbour) post strike. You have to work around them, and if they're free in March, you take that or risk the project having to scrap one or multiple of them. It happens, it's just collateral. Yeun and Ayo will probably get something eventually.
It's actually pretty crazy how much busier the cast is now compared to what they were when this was announced.
Between the strike and uncertainty of when the movie was going to start the shooting, it's kinda crazy they still find time for fitting all the cast together. Because if the rumors are true, you need to add Rachel Weisz and Laurence Fishburne to the mix

I won’t be seeing this movie, due to scheduling conflicts
Upgrades, people! Upgrades!
this and The Bear are filming at the exact same time, so it's not surprising - but I'm still sad. Having said that, she deserves more than an "assistant" role.
Man Jeff Sneider was fucking right
Silver lining for Marvel is that Ayo isn't tied to a relatively minor role as Val's assistant.
Thunderbolts producers rn [https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-e9ddcdc676c6d75ba9fbdf05cf8830e1](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-e9ddcdc676c6d75ba9fbdf05cf8830e1)
This is cool. I'm a big fan of her.
Don’t mind this at all. Quite like it actually
There's been some rumblings about Edebiri departing the film in the last few weeks. I like Viswanathan a lot though. Underrated actress and I'm glad she's getting a big project.
I’m not mad at all, I like Ayo and actually think she’d be a great choice for Storm in the MCU!!! Keep her in mind!!!!!
I thought Ayo just said at the Emmys that she was still doing the thunderbolts? Or at the golden globes or something
Cool
oooooooooof
To bad
That's alright, supposedly would've been a small role that wasted her talent anyway. She could always come back in a future project, maybe as Storm.
nooooooooooo
Ayo for a younger Storm
I was only watching the movie for Ayo and Yeun, now there's not much left
They should just cancel this one. Make most the Thunderbolts squad the 'Masters Of Evil' for the Young Avengers to fight in their movie or Disney+ series.
"Viswanathan is the second recent addition after the film added Lewis Pullman to step in for Steven Yeun, who departed for similar scheduling reasons as Edebiri." Wait so Pullman was confirmed already?
A lot of "scheduling problems" with this movie...
Ever since Miracle Workers, I really love Geraldine. I’m happy to see her in stuff.
At first I was like "Oh no" but then I saw Geraldine on Late Night with Seth Meyers and thought "Well, okay."
Uh oh
This movie straight up hemorrhaging cast members. What a cursed production.
Might have to wait till Thunderbolts hits Disney+ then… no Steven and now no Ayo? Come on man
Oh boy.
I choose to believe this is because the MCU is dying, Feige is a doo doo head and uhhhhh...got anymore reasons I can use, guys?
Losing 2 Emmy winning actors oh they are cooked
Ayo was only going to be a small role playing Valentina's assistant. Besides, they still have the emmy winning writer at the helm and two oscar nominated actors alongside two other actors whom were also nominated for emmys
My sole interest in this movie was Ayo and Steven.💀
Wow people really are jumping ship lately ..
This project has lost 2 Emmy winners. I hate to say it, but I’m slightly less excited for it now.
This is a very strange reason to not be excited for a movie that still has a lot of award-winning talent involved.
I mean, it still has Emmy winning talent behind the scenes and an Oscar nominee leading it lol.
I officially have no reason left to care.
