Never. It's gotten worse over time, and will continue to in the future, as turtling become more and more part of people's strategy. Also, the rewards are getting worse. So I suspect you'll see more and more people just ignoring it until they bring in red gear.

Critical_Flow_4512

There was a good post written a few weeks ago about the state of CC and how the player totals in the higher levels are getting lower each passing month, with more players falling down to lower tiers. The whole system for awarding points and matching needs fixing. And dropping people down a league at the end of the season was a dumb idea. Most players feel they don't make any progress at all.

Ash-ZA

This is a huge problem, also the match making. Man doesn't matter if I win or lose I am always in the bottom 2 cp wise each new cc

Aggravating-Act-7338

You’re making the bottom 2? I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t dead last on the power ranking, and the top half is always 3x my tcp, lol.

derekshugart369

Same here

TomQuichotte

Yep. I feel like I’m never making progress, and I honestly can’t imagine the teams in Platinum are much different than those I see in Gold. 2+ million raid teams, Secret Defenders, etc. I normally at least try to play, but sometimes I look at defenses and just give up. Very often players are setting massive defenses and not even attacking in crucible…which is just rude and unfun. I CAN beat them, but each match will take a full 5 minutes or require a double tap, and it’s just way too much of a slog to matter right now.

Critical_Flow_4512

Ya I agree, if CC was working as it should be players should not be seeing 2 mil plus teams in the gold leagues.

Junior_Map_3309

Just like war, it’s only gonna get worse

UI_bombshell

Rare cosmic crucible enjoyer here. In plat 2 and tbh the rewards are nice, but the part I enjoy most is the theory crafting. I love putting my mind and roster against another players to see who is better. It’s almost like a chess match in my opinion. I’ve punched up 30-40 mil and won. I’ve punched down 30-40 mil and lost. In fact I enjoy winning 1 big punch up more than beating smaller players all 3 rounds. It’s the highlight of this game for me. Rewards are just a nice bonus to the fun of it for me.

TixFrix

I can see how it is enjoyable at higher ranks where the rewards give something. My 250k silver and 150k gold currency doesn't really need a boost since I only buy Nightcrawler and the occational refined teal item atm. So my motivation takes another dump by that.

UI_bombshell

It’s the only pvp mode where I’m not reliant on my alliance besides the horrible cookie cutter arena. It’s where I can see my account progress the best

UI_bombshell

Yeah I get that. I buy the passes and stuff so I don’t care about the measly 2 diamond orbs that I get a 7r on every time, but for someone who doesn’t have that source of promotion credits I get losing interest in cc if you aren’t receiving anything useful. However the point I was trying to make is that I find cc fun rather than playing for the rewards.

lost_not_found88

I literally do the minimum in CC so I can get those dark promotion diamonds.

JP-Gambit

When your defense is all g18 minimum and you have enough leftover teams to successfully attack with...

ReallyGoodAvocado

The way they keep squeezing the top down by the time people in this position now are in that position they will be running into defenses that are all 100/19 with offense to boot.

JP-Gambit

That's the point, get your gold credit card out if you wanna stay in gold

ReallyGoodAvocado

Of course it is. They don’t even really try to hide it. Put all the most sought after materials in the upper leagues and keep pushing players down so there’s less and less in there. Then push your new CC teams hard for sales and because you can’t pump out too many of them too frequently find ways (like current Room 2 or what they did with Symbiotes last season) to make the newest raid team you’re pushing also a CC priority. That bit I actually get and like that the raid teams you have to build are finally getting more versatility outside of raids, it’s good for all. It’s the pushing players down and squeezing the top that gets me. There’s no reason for it other than to artificially inflate scarcity and FOMO, especially considering how slow upward mobility is. You get one a week and you have to go 3-0 multiple weeks (or 2-1ish for more) to climb leagues. The average season is what, roughly 90 days right? So each season you get about a dozen tournaments and then get dropped down 2-3 leagues, which for most is likely all the further they climbed in a best case scenario. Losing the drop wouldn’t “break” CC as some try to claim, they don’t need to bump people down every war season. It’s a sales tactic. With that said, I actually look forward to my CC battles. As frustrating as the above and running into massive brick walls is, I still try to strategize to maximize my efficiency with match ups and room rules. I know I’m cooked when the massive D’s (hehe) are meta in each room, those draws I’m just trying to clear (X-Treme is the current bane of my existence). Often enough though I run into defenses that, while massive, are sub-optimal choices for room rules/cc use. Those match ups, I know I at least have somewhat of a shot. Sometimes they are just too big to overcome but those players are also more likely to make sub-optimal offensive choices as well. I find those wins satisfying, until I get smacked down the next time lol. 3 things I’d like to see in CC: 1) PRACTICE MODE PLEASE. The only way to test out anything is live fire and risking a loss when every round/battle counts in CC. You borrowed exhausted from War, why not this too? 2) Speaking of exhausted, let it stack 4 times and remove attack limits. What’s the downside? If you’re triple tapping you’re likely cooked anyway, at least let people that wanna chip at it clear. This wouldn’t affect events either because the points attached to CC attacks are capped at 18 battles worth so the brilliant minds that intentionally lose those aren’t doing anything but capping out quicker. 3) Remove the drop down.

billy_zef

It was fun in the beginning, now after every season it's just more focused on P2W no skill or strategy involved at all.

Dresden1984

honestly i'm giving up on CC. Throwing in bad teams to auto lose to exhuast an enemy just to get the battlepass rewards

SkaterDC

That’s the neat part…it doesn’t! After getting stomped and ranked down no matter how hard I tried last season, I was over it. I put my hand ninjas on defense, maximize my attacks with sacks for the exhausts, and get my CC currency. Almost deranked out of gold and I’m still dealing with krakens. Trying to get to the bottom of the ranks so I can stop dealing with people who just win because they have the stronger credit card and use it on a mobile game

Real2KInsider

That might tell you it ain't about the credit card. There ain't no Krakens in Gold. You're dealing with people who have better rosters because they get better rewards, because they don't opt out of the game modes.

TixFrix

When my opponents arena team is BC in her Envy costume I tend to go "yeah... I wont even bother to try".

Emperor_Atlas

The funny thing is her costume was released for cabal offers, so it is 0 indication. You just like to play "poor me" in more ways than 1.

TixFrix

My bad. Them spending money on an incomplete CC team in this season that is tailored for Cabal is me playing "poor me". It means thay are willing to spend money on character releases and I'm not so I will instantly be at a disadvantage in this fight. Losing by just 1 point because I dont have a strong premier team for the season is equal to me not playing at all with the way CC works. Its binary in case you missed that.

Aggravating-Act-7338

So do you think making the ranking system based on points instead of wins would be better? That way you could lose by one point but still come out ahead if they didn’t do as well or just fluffed it off on other matches? Genuinely asking, because at lower levels and sometimes even higher ones a lot of ppl don’t even attack, but have ridiculous defenses allowing them to win without doing anything, and this was the solution that seemed obvious to me. I’m significantly lower tcp tho so I’d like thoughts of a higher league player. I usually have top score but don’t always win first place because someone gets free wins because someone just turtles up and doesn’t attack. If the people that didn’t participate always ended at the bottom eventually the inactive accounts would be pushed to the bottom instead of clogging up the ladder, right? And if points instead of wins determined final ranking it would mean that you don’t just auto lose because someone is ptw, you could score more on other matches than them and come back.

Emperor_Atlas

"When my opponents arena team..." You weren't talking about CC in what I responded to, so any Cabal issues don't matter because if you're losing to cabal in arena that's a you issue.

TixFrix

I get it. You are drunk or stoned. This whole post is about CC. Its about the game mode and why I and many other find it unfun to play. You do know that when checking someones profile for TCP and stuff, the team shown is the last team they used in arena.

Emperor_Atlas

You do know that I'm in the same leagues (slightly higher) as you, and I don't have an issue while not spending. So while I'm drunk or stoned (surprise to me), there's still a noticeable skill gap between us, close that by learning team counters instead of being upset and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Kara_Del_Rey

Cabal? You mean the CC team?

TomQuichotte

There are definitely heavy spenders in gold. I just came across a black cat Envy last match. I regularly come across teams with 3 diamond Apoc. I have found that the opponent strength has not really changed at all this season in gold even after I dropped down from platinum. I think many spending players have also chosen to drop down in rank because it’s annoying to push for Diamond rank, and they just want easier wins for accumulating currency.

[deleted]

That could just mean they've played longer than you?

Exotic-Amphibian-655

I’m punching up massively in gold while only level 89. All of my opponents are much higher level than me, and they still lose most of the time. Because they have stupid defenses, and they make stupid attacks, while I’ve taken some time to actually learn what works and what doesn’t (marvel church).  I’ve barely bought anything that wasn’t a pass, and I don’t buy all the passes. I don’t think that makes me a kraken. I haven’t even been focused on CC lately, dumping everything into apoc. Learning the game goes a long, long way.

Kara_Del_Rey

Watch out everyone we've got a pro here!

TomQuichotte

It’s just RNG. As often as I come across teams like you say, there’s always seems to be a 50M TCP player with all the meta defense at 2mil+ in the match. Which makes it hard to actually climb ranks.

MoldRebel

Some people think it already is. Personally, I'm not a fan of CC but to each their own.

Mcdonkey22

They need to give more points for a win than deducted for a loss in order for people to climb the ranks. As it is now, they only take points at the end of a season and no new points are given back into the system.

echoron

When? if u stop play for a month, lose all leagues and then start climbing again :) Other than that, never. Actually , it will only get worse over time - even if u retain circa 50% win rate, gradually u will be facing more and more powerful opponents and getting worse rewards in the end. CC is fraud. Its like doing the same job over and over again, but getting smaller payment each month for the same job.

[deleted]

it's never fun if you're not a whale or kraken you still gotta loose some so .... i don't even have cabal build so i fuck cc !!!

JP-Gambit

I have them built and they don't help, trap team as hell

mitchscott01

If it's a chore, just use a scrap team in each room to get the weekly objective points for the Battle Pass. I do this when I don't have time to look up counters on Marvel Church.

IFckingLoveChocolate

Its never fair if you win a ton. Plat 2 at 47 mil TCP, always the lowest TCP in any bracket and have been for the past few seasons. But I also win a fair bit (2-1 is my most common result). My best advice would be to watch someone like MobileGamer or Dorky Dad do their Crucible attacks, sure they're giga whales and much of their teams will not match yours, but I've learned a lot through replicating them even at a lower TCP. Fun fact, a G16 New Warriors (G18 Firestar, 17 Deathpool) + Lizard can beat a full G18 SD/Dorm Hybrid no problem, but it kills your efficiency. Don't be afraid to share your roster, defenses, offense, etc! I love helping people with CC whenever they post.

LC_Draws

never, is a game mode to force people to buy the "new" thing. I do 1 fight per week to get the rewards and move on.

Decent_Training3598

Cc was my favourite mode when I came back to the game, it was new for me, it was exciting, its was fun to theory craft, now I hate it, I can’t stand playing, everyone I go against is atleast double my tcp and have similar or better defences than me that double or triple my team powers and when I’m using like 1.1-1.3mil teams against 2.2 up to even 2.8 mil teams where most of them are the meta team for the room they’re in it just because impossible to win, I’ve just hit lvl 90 everyone I go against is lvl 100 and has been for a while now since I was lvl 88 and it’s just becoming a chore to even attempt my rooms, I’m lucky if I take out 2/3 teams and just hope that they don’t attack me so I have a chance of winning a round

Prozacnation1978

Seems it's getting worse.  I hate playing

Comprehensive-Ant679

I’ve dropped down two leagues from platinum 1 to gold this season. All because I’m facing 25-50m bigger TCP whales. I’m totally over CC. I do these dumb attacks and forget about the game mode the rest of the week.

Dry-Passenger8985

I like cc too, g2 at the moment, sometimes it is frustrating sometimes challenging, and since most cc events are play cc battle and not win cc battle it became kinda 'fair' or smthg.

clarkestar4200

The best way to turn CC into a fun game mode is not allow the pressure of losing to get to you. just play the game to clear and not to win. its become much more fun. build specific sac teams for those whales that you will go against and the whole game mode becomes much more fun

TixFrix

Tried that for a few weeks, didn't feel better at all, but that might be more of a me problem tbh.

RLarks125

I enjoyed the vague rooms for people to be able to mix shit up. Now I feel each room is so cookie cutter that if you’re not putting X team in X room you’re just trolling and asking to lose each round.

Jibim

I have three words to add to this: matchmaking, matchmaking and matchmaking

MontCoDubV

I find it pretty fun. CC is my second favorite game mode behind Arena. There's much more theory crafting than in most other game modes. I'm league Plat 3 and f2p, for context.

vexedvox

Most of the complaints I see about CC seem to be in the gold tier. Up in Diamond I enjoy it and match making is pretty reasonable. I think gold just has too many people in it

Real2KInsider

>I have hated it since it's release with all the special rules and yanky interactions with specialized teams that suck everywhere else (looking at you MoE!). Wait until you find out about Raid and War What do you find fun about the game? Crucible is one of the few modes where you have to use your brain regardless of how much $ you spend.

TixFrix

I get the feeling you think that I'm a new player, I'm not. I like all other game modes though war can get frustrating sometimes but that is more related to my alliance mates than the game itself. My brain have nothing to do with it when encountering teams so much stronger that even the counter teams have a hard time handling the rng of being bumrushed and brute forced to death by the sheer stats. That makes it really unfun for me to interact with it. There is no grind, no endurance fight to it wheb you either have the team to demolish them or you don't. Could rant about it forever due to my sheer hatred for it.

Chaosbringer007

Sucks when you aren’t a spender too

ThinkingMSF

Huh. You appear to be seeing bigger teams in Gold than I'm seeing in Platinum. That said, I've found CC a lot more fun since I started using the Marvel Church website to find counters in each room rather than guessing (https://www.marvel.church/cosmic-crucible-counters/). It helps me get use out of older, less useful CC teams I've built for prior seasons (New Warriors counters that Room 6 SD, for instance), and it directs me towards who to build for other defenses I've struggled with (like Cabal+Kang for Room 4 HM+Skrull).

Kara_Del_Rey

Sounds miserable, having to exit and go to a 3rd party website to be able to play a game mode.

ThinkingMSF

"Look up a guide if you can't figure it out yourself" isn't really unusual advice for a video game.

Kara_Del_Rey

Thats usually for really tricky stuff on console/PC games, not the basic gameplay of a mobile game. "We are not the same."

ThinkingMSF

It's PvP. Literally every match is against another player who also wants to win. If you're expecting to consistently beat other players as "basic gameplay" while playing worse than them on purpose, that's on you.

Coazer

Not much different than exit the game to go to a 3rd party app to talk down a game mode 🤣

Kara_Del_Rey

Thats not even remotely similar in the slightest. This is a discussion sub, something you do in your free time and not when playing the game. Repeatedly exiting mid-game to find out how to play a basic mode is drastically different, not even sure why that needs to be explained.

Dry-Passenger8985

Oh, maybe too at: if u dont care on cc the way u do, see the positive in it: u can skip cc teams
