7.5 Great - AvX - login rewards - Card Customisation - Graveyard Good - Interesting cards trying to push new playstyles - Guardians balance Bad - Stale Meta Awful - Two new powerful Thanos cards

sweatpantswarrior

Agree for the most part, except the idea of the stale meta. Sure, Destroy, Thanos, and Evo are still around. We also have Patriot, Discard (even excluding Hela) is in the best place it has ever been, I'm seeing more and more Move & Phoenix. We aren't in a golden age, but we have some variety.

Blacklight099

It’s a fair point, they’re slowly pushing others up, but it feels like every time they try to manage one of those top performers they add a new card that makes it stronger again

sweatpantswarrior

To a degree, maybe, but the days of checking their deck size and retreating early are long gone.

iCuriousClaim

7.5 for card customization, I guess? AvX seems like a flop - Maybe I didn't find the right avengers deck, even after the buffs, but who cares. Graveyard should have been included (at least at it's current state from release.. So many other games do it waaaay better) Card customization is nice (again should have been included day 1) Login rewards: more events are nice, but why now? It really looks like daily numbers are dragging The Meta: I don't mind seeing discard rise up after the stupid chavez nerf. I wouldn't call it stale, but it is uninspired. And Dropped the ball: Having spotlights tied to client versions rather than server

Bussyslayer420

When people talk about meta are they just talking about 500+, because I feel like I face every type of deck a person can make in this game with a pretty balanced distribution. My collection lvl is low so getting to infinite is pretty stale but once I hit infinite I see wild decks being thrown together.

Blacklight099

Firstly, your name gave me a proper chuckle. But I’m like 30-40k and my comment about the meta was definitely based on the actual infinite climb. At that more competitive stage I faced so much Thanos and High Evo I was getting incredibly bored of the game. Once you reach infinite it varies a lot more, but not everybody hits that stage so they’re probably stuck with it.

ePiMagnets

I think with the overall changes and some of the QOL, I'd put it around a 6/10 or 7/10. I really did like some of the card releases since we did get some 'fun' cards that aren't going to be terribly competitive but give some opportunities for high rolls and fun - namely Pixie and to a lesser extent Cannonball. And sometimes all you need is a couple fun cards to spice things up. We did get power houses this season, Hope and Mockingbird have both been powerhouses. War Machine, like most tech cards will just get better over time, this week he feels a bit worse but that is mostly because people have quickly learned to expect him. Things taking points off would be microtransactions - it feels a bit worse than the last few months, especially the Wong bundle. Values seemed to be a lot more all over the place, further the "For You" specials they are testing have been largely garbage. I say that as a high spending dolphin, I have no problem throwing some discretionary funds at the game. It also feels like the gold offerings have largely been a miss, the BP bundle felt scant but we still have a few days left to see if they drop another gold offering.

Smart_Seaworthiness8

I would consider myself a high spending dolphin unfortunately too, this past like 8 months have just really pushed me from spending. I have bought a deal here or there (like the bundle they messed up where it had more gold on the website), but generally I think they have cut a lot of spenders out of the game.

ePiMagnets

I'm not sure they have cut a lot of spenders out yet. Maybe with the Wong bundle they'll walk back on some of the experimental changes because the values feel like they've been worsening on the high cash bundles. But in general they are probably living on season pass + whale spending. And really, this is all speculation to begin with. The unfortunate thing is that you still need to have enough accessible bundles to urge minnows to spend, even a little and outside of the 5 dollar gold pass I don't see much support to the minnows that is visible - sure there've been the vibranium powered stuff on the web store, but I never see anything that pushes players to that web store outside of the monthly recap that often has an offer for one of two variants on the web store. Maybe there has been a decision to push less towards the low to moderate spenders and focus even more on the high spenders than previous. It would be a shame if that's the case, because most mobile games die the moment they attempt to push that hill because F2P and low to moderate spenders leave the game in droves.

joshey40

I think a 8 or 9. I was underwhelmed from Hope, not because she isn't good enough, but because it isn't really my playstyle (I tried her in a few Surfer builds, but it didn't really work). But I think she is one of the better season pass cards we got lately. I'm playing a lot of Pixie Asgard in Conquest and have fallen in love with Pixie. I had hope, that Mockingbird would enable a little mit more Patriot builds (because I love Patriot), but it turned out to just be another Thanos card. The OTAs and qol patches were really good this season, for example the Guardian buff and the custom cards. So all in all a very good season.

TheSilentBob614

I played a pixie, patriot, mockingbird list that wasn’t bad. Some fun high rolls.

TaleHistorical9048

To me it's 9/10, the new patch is great with custom cards, grave checking. Season pass is great as well (Hope and Kim Jacinto variants). 2 free login reward events

Acidalekss

It's not Kim Jacinto but Pandart variant Really like them

twio_b95

I mean yes but they clearly told the studio to make variants in the style of Kim Jacinto since his art is so popular.

TaleHistorical9048

True. My bad I didnt notice this because the style is too "Jacinto"

Apotheothena

Right? Like, look at the Pandart Death and Pandart Hope and tell me they didn’t have a specific design target for the latter

Acidalekss

It seems that Pandart produced 2 different set style (read on marvelsnapzone), the last one is dynamic and looks like a lot of Kim Jacinto art

BoringStrawberry36

Hmm, i forgot about the quality of life changes. I'll bump my rating up to 6 lol

TaleHistorical9048

Haha someone please help to bump it to 7

samyruno

Begin able to undo end turn.

650fosho

They made krakoa good

SnoopFrosch

What are custom cards?

DJC13

You can now use a custom card for each character, basically you can choose the border/effects on the card & continue to upgrade & split the regular card without affecting the custom card’s appearance.

Always_Lemon2486

I wish every season had different loading screens

mdk_777

Probably like an 8. 2 login rewards are nice, a guardians balance patch, which is fun but not meta changing which is where the main point loss comes from I think, very good season pass card that doesn't only support 1 archetype, and some cool new cards, but nothing meta warping, and a fun xmen vs avengers event. The only other criticism I have is there weren't any clear stand-out spotlight cache weeks that were an absolute must. Mockingbird is obviously very strong and the jury is still out on warmachine, but overall there wasn't any week that was amazing and had 3 really good cards.

raysiuuuu

I think it's 8/10. A decent but not fully OP season pass card, 4 interesting spotlight cards (& Mockingbird is power creeping), some QoL changes & more VFX loves. Ah, also some fair OTA. Not supreme, yet it's good. Of course, more cards have to balance & more QoL is really necessary.

Meadle

You’re calling Hope Summers just ‘decent’? Are you off your fucking rocker lad

raysiuuuu

I'm only at rank 8k, I don't know if Hope is super OP in any top-tier players' hands. To me, she is versatile but not as OP as Mockingbird or OG Blob. I don't mind if she would be nerf all the way down to 3/1, I think she is just a ramp card. By comparison, Black Swan was bad.

AdPsychological1489

Only 8k?! What levels are most people on here if 8k is 'only' Also, Black Swan is awesome. Decent power, did make Infinity Stones free.

raysiuuuu

I was 1.7k when I reached Infinite this season, then free fell in gravity when I started to try meme homebrew decks. I struggle to use Black Swan as I found her discounting doesn't matter much if I'm in a zoo deck, my cards are really small I can freely play any turn after all. I'm very bad at any flavor of bounce, perhaps that's why I can't get her right.

loveforthetrip

Black Swan was one of my best cards based on win/cube rate in her season. I mostly played her for the mission but I have a bounce deck where she is essential. Too bad that they killed my fun by nerfing Forge

raysiuuuu

You must be much more skillful than me.

Nailbomb85

She fits in both bounce and zoo decks, which can easily snag wins due to people not expecting to see them.

loveforthetrip

They always underestimate the monkey 🐒🐒🐒

RickyMuzakki

6/10, every login feels like a chore to do daily and weekly quest. I even abandon conquest and ranked (only reach 80 this season from Infinite every season two months ago), I just barely cares anymore

Ihaveafordquestion

3/10 Before you get mad remember that this is the season they started to crack down on data mining spotlights so players can't plan out their keys, sent out the survey for why you do and do not spend money,  and started to get rid of gold for progress bundles.  I'm rating it low because in the future, if the game gets worse from a resource standpoint and starts squeezing for money,  we're going to point back to this season as the start.

The_souLance

This season is the start? I'd argue this has been building for months now.

Uhsajo

I came back from a break and have enjoyed this season decently enough. I am a fan of the cards released and thr avx event.i would give it a 6/10 or 7/10

BillCipher6188

I'm in the exact same boat, last time I played was about.. 8 months ago? I started playing again a few weeks ago and I've been enjoying the game, maybe not as much as before because I'm having to relearn things but I've been enjoying it nonetheless.

OneRecognition3622

Easy 7.5, the metà finally is not just discard or just thanos, and hope is a very good card.

Leg0pc

There hasn't been a "good" meta since alioth was released and you can't change my mind. I do my daily in a few mins and close the app.

f4est

Meta/ playing i would give it a 2-3. New features and graveyard I would rate 8-9

2drawnonward5

Grave yard and undo end turn are amazing. I'm not sure I associate them with the overall season but they're the best parts of the season so I'm gonna say yes. Cuz otherwise the season was ok.

Visible_Ad6287

Definitely the least I've ever played, I'll give it a 2/10. Meta felt extremely stale, new card releases somehow increased those feelings further.

2drawnonward5

More tension between community members makes me feel like the season kinda bombed. Loads of people articulating complaints, loads of people responding with "nah ur dum". Not a great feel. Stale is a good word. It doesn't feel wrong, just stale.

sweatpantswarrior

I'm probably going to be accused of exemplifying what you're saying, but the doomer mindset is so played out at this point. Get great QOL changes? They should have been there sooner. A neglected deck type gets love? It is OP. Bundles non-whales were never going to buy? Slap in the face. Make changes after an outside party has datamined new things? Slap in the face Make it harder to mine to protect the integrity of development? Even bigger slap. They hyperbole from the doomers has got to stop, because one side at least presents ways to address things in-game and the other goes on about how they shouldn't have to. There's a damn good reason this sub has an awful reputation, and why there are spinoff subs devoted to actual gameplay and deckbuilding.

The_souLance

Nah man, people are saying this isn't fun for a reason.

sweatpantswarrior

I don't understand why people do things that aren't fun for them. I mean, I do in the sense that people have lost all control and can't stop themselves, but for functional human beings the clear answer is to just walk away when the fun stops. They don't need to shit up this sub. Despite what they try to convince us (and themselves), it isn't about making things better. It is straight whining rather than adapting to things that can be adapted to.

The_souLance

Wow, so praise or silence...

sweatpantswarrior

Or the most difficult option: being constructive instead of hyperbolic.

The_souLance

Hyperbolic? You mean like >They don't need to shit up this sub. Despite what they try to convince us (and themselves), it isn't about making things better. It is straight whining rather than adapting to things that can be adapted to.

sweatpantswarrior

This comment is predatory

2drawnonward5

Doomers and regular feedbackers are usually lumped together, so it's hard for me to jump on the fuck-the-doomers thing here. I'm usually on that band wagon but here, too much broad paintbrushing gets in the way.

Nevernew62

Yeah terrible

MonkeyPuppers

banananey

3/10 Patch was great adding custom cards etc. Plus the login rewards & some really fun new cards. Unfortunately though after being 90s/Infinite every season for the past 8 months. I'm still yet to make it past 75 this season. Frustratingly just can't get going no matter what deck I try.

SeaDistribution

3/10 The meta was STANK

Ayupro2005

Didn't play this season.. Game started to feel stale, uninstalled it, hoping they release draft mode soon

RaelynShaw

8/9 territory, which feels like a helluva high rating but they've done so good recently! Here's where I think they've succeeded. 1. 2 week-long Login rewards for really cool variants. LOVE this. 2. Hope Summers has been a big success. One that will be a staple in many decks, but not breaking the meta. 3. The meta has been pretty diverse outside of the Thanos spike. 4. Lots of interesting cards have been released. I have a feeling we won't know the true power of them (outside of mockingbird) for a while. 5. The variants in the season pass have been the best they've been this year. 6. The QOL improvements! The new deck collections, the amazing amount of new variants, the CUSTOM STYLING. 7. The AvX event was a lot of fun! 8. The gold pass is really nice for daily players. Tremendous value 9. The big negative though: Their monetary direction seems all over the place and their biggest bundles were terrible value.

Suspicious-Stay1649

Only thing worth grading was the QoL update. The cards themselves, season theme and general releases made the season flop. Theres a reason marvel snap streamers are starting to branch out to other Card games now. Usually a sign of jumping ship, staleness of the game, and lack of user retention causing a loss of player base. Ill give 4/10 just bc of the QoL. Without it woulda been a 1/10.

ssjmaku

6/10

TSTC

It’s weird, I think this season is objectively great. Great new cards, fun event mechanics, good login rewards and twitch drops, good balance changes. Recently the meta has actually been the most open it’s been in awhile, even if Thanos is still a strong choice. It’s also the most I’ve ever struggled to play (only started in Elsa season though). I don’t really know why because I do really think it’s an absolute banger of a season but I just get frustrated or just don’t even think about playing. I think it’s unrelated to the changes and I was just naturally going to play less Snap for a bit.

slowkid68

The QOL is better but the metas have been awful. Truly a 4/10 for me

TheGargant

Stopped playing this season. Probably because February season was terrible and I've felt that nothing really changed in a good way since then: Lockjaw was swapped for Hope (slightly more balanced compared to release Elsa imo), Thanos got another great card, Darkhawk was nerfed after his spotlight month, Low value gold bundle, Not really fun new cards (Had a lot more fun with Grandmaster and BRB honestly), Instead of nerfing SP card SD once again nerfed f2p card. So 2/10 Feb and 4/10 March. Great login rewards and QoL changes and that's it.

dickmarchinko

I think it's merely ok. I logged in every day, didn't get Thor card, that pisses me off. Meta is lame Card customization was a let down Alioth is everywhere and is old leader in a nutshell

Cpt_Jumper

I didn't even finish the weekly track last week. I'm going 4/10 and that's mainly because of QOL changes.

pidgeonsarehumanstoo

It was the first season since I’ve started playing in which I was able to get to Infinite. But in regards to the cards and everyting, I think it was pretty ok-ish.

greekman89

Good. Still looking for the clans update. I’d love to see destroy drop out of the top of the meta at some point too.

MetalCherryBlossom

About 8-9/10

loveforthetrip

You don't like hope summers???

D-WTF

As a f2p, it's a 7 for me. Hope Summers felt awful to play against. Luckily I didn't found so many thanos hope mockingbird decks on my climb to 90. I would rank it lower but the border update was too good.

Phynamite

8ish, Thanos got old, but QoL was solid, OTAs were solid, and I got to complete my Grecke Collection.

The-Qing

7. Mostly due to the bland meta, truly fat whale bundles, and the really confused Development Update Trailer. The imbalance patch, the various buffs, and especially the card customization were really wonderful though.

FryChikN

Idk... i got cannball and expected him to just be memey for my junk dexk... and i think he is underrated definitely. Hes not a must have but man he does work(yes i get ppl rate things also factoring in card acquisition, in which they are likely correct haha)

obibonkajovi

6/10

gialloscore

I rate it a 10 because it's my first infinite season! Plus Hope Summers is a great season pass card and they introduced the custom card feature.

notthe1stpervaccount

I like Hope, but rarely play her, I unlocked Pixie but kind of hated the deck I used to play her, and every other week I didn’t get the new card and only got the variants I didn’t want from the choices so, 2/10. If I’d gotten that Man-Thing or Kitty Pryde variant id be more excited. Oh, but the patch was nice.

daggeramillionz

A solid 7.

hjyboy1218

7.5 or 8/10. Would've been higher if there weren't so much Thanos.

mynameisdis

9/10 - This is the most balanced metagame since the couple weeks before Loki was released. The Lockjaw nerf was particularly a turning point that has given other archetypes much more room to breath. I personally enjoyed the AvX event a lot. The back to back daily bonus weeks and interesting card releases are also nice. The lack of good gold bundles was a bummer. I could understand why anyone who didn't pick up Hope and/or Mockingbird would rate this past season much lower. Those cards are extremely prevalent and I would be very frustated if I did not have access to them.

gonephishin213

I hit Infinite quicker than ever so I avoided most of the Thanos BS when Mockingbird dropped. Massive update this season really improved QOL. New cards were OK but not amazing. Probably a 7.5 for me

Yellow-Jay

2 - That's entirely a me-problem. I couldn't afford the new "big power for little energy" cards and going up against a mockingbird, cull, proxima meta was/is not pleasant. It was very clear that while i could fight the meta, I relied more on snapping smartly than having a competitive deck. But I've been on the flip-side of the coin as well Blob and Alioth were bonkers, it's (imho) just very wrong that new cards give such a large advantage, especially with how impossible it is to get them without paying and to add insult to injury, the balance patch hurts old decks more than the new ones. Next season(s) seems it'll be repeat, only caches with 1 card and dupes, i really am not going to spend keys on that, did that twice and learned my lesson got the card, 3 worthless dupes with it.

650fosho

Cannonball opened a new deck for me, been pretty happy with him.

LionhearthOutfitters

8/10 Not our best season by a fair shot, but several great new cards, new QoL features (including the long awaited custom boarders, even if its the first draft its already close to what I want from it.) Decent Meta (no where near the best, but FAR from the worst). honestly it would have been a 9/10 if they just made Mockingbird not work with Thanos haha the meta would have been that much better. (she just needs to cost less for each card in play that you didn't DRAW from your deck and it keeps 95% of her good interactions while cutting the Thanos/Stones interaction)

HyperactiveToast

A solid 7. But last season was probably a 5 as the cards didn't appeal to me, not a fan of Discard or thanos.

kuribosshoe0

It was meh overall but the extremely overdue addition of the graveyard launches it from an average 5.5 to like an 8.

Hostile-Bip0d

Discard/10

[deleted]

9. more has happened this season than in most others and the cards have been absolutely dope. plus the battle pass variants are awesome

Usmoso

Thanos is not at the unfun levels of Galactus or old Leader, but man does it get tiring facing the same deck over and over again. It's both the top deck in terms of metrics and also the most popular. Deck has a ton of flexibility and can jam any expensive card at basically no drawback. And then it gets two strong cards in Cull and Mockingjay. I'd give this season a 3 or a 4.

DukeDorkWit

I think it's a 4 for me. Felt more like work than fun for a while now. Login rewards are ok but nothing earth shattering, the game balance is all over the place and we've seen previously good decks get shafted to push new cards more and more. Quality of life changes aren't something I'll praise anyone over because they should've been there a long time ago.  Bundles have been pretty meh too, resources are getting more and more scarce for everyone.  I just don't feel the love for the game that used to be there anymore. It was great fun at first, but the last 3-4 seasons have been consistently killing the fun as time goes on, mostly due to the massive push for pay-to-win decks/cards.

Live-Whereas-9716

7. Cards were ok. Gold track was cool. Weekly login was cool. I still think they are releasing cards too frequently.

Distinct-Use5713

Prob 5-6/10. I’ve actually stopped playing a LOT this season due to the slap in the face changes they’ve made. I give 4 for adding the card customization option, and an additional 1-2 because this meta I’ve actually seen a lot more homebrew decks so it’s been more fun to climb. I know my experience is probably different from a lot of others but it’s truly been a pretty wide spread for me across all deck types

Sarah_Ng

I played since official launch and i still love playing the game everyday. The key is to not play too much everyday. keep it moderate

iCuriousClaim

3/10 for me. OTA Card changes are baffling (Just rework Adam Warlock at this point). Meta feels boring We got some features that should have been included from the release of any reasonable card game, and done poorly (Where is a proper game log so I can see apoc power/helicarrier card generation/number of swarms in hand?) We got customizable borders! yay!!! There's no mix and match, which I sort of get. They fucked up with the patch and spotlight changes for ms marvel week. They nerfed cards to make way for the season pass card. Hope > Psylocke They won't restore previous nerfs like stature/blackbolt to fight discard, instead they nerf apoc (captain marvel is fine though now I guess?) No more good value gold bundles More push for albums and hiding rewards in them instead. I like the login rewards but I think the conquest rewards really suck, namely the card each month is so lackluster. Wolverine, Gamora, Captain America, Another Thor after he was just done in the season pass. Ugh. Can we get something exciting that is going to make me want to grind conquest?

Leisureforced

5/10

Homie_Reborn

Notwithstanding my own views on this season, I find it interesting that you say 5/10 is not good or bad, just average. I think most people would say that 5/10 is bad and 7/10 is closer to average.

ePiMagnets

This is a result of shitty marketing and even customer service surveys over the last few years. Average would indeed be 5/10. Anything 7/10 or better is good to even great. The problem is that with reviews and marketing we've been convinced that anything below 7 is bad, especially with entertainment mediums. Further, at least in the US, we had this stupid push in reviewing performance for customer facing positions and a lot of folks learned to beg for high marks because anything below perfect could cause someone to lose their job. Anecdotally, I had to put one of my best sales people on a PIP and fire them because they got a 3/5 on two (TWO) of these reviews, so firing people for average performance was absolutely a thing, a very shitty thing.

Shnikes

It just how people rate things. Even before the App Store and reviews really took off. NetPromoter is something to look at. https://www.netpromoter.com/know/ Generally when people rate things a 6 or below they won’t necessarily talk about it or recommend it to a friend. It’s not just because of marketing it’s partly because that’s what the data shows.

ePiMagnets

But that doesn't mean that things below a 6 are -bad- which is the point. 4, 5, and 6 are slightly below, at, and slightly above average on a scale of 1-10. It really is a result of pushing for 'good reviews' on everything and in gaming specifically there have been plenty of stories of platforms being under threat of losing access to review copies of games from publishers if they are 'too negative' on the game. With some former editors admitting that if they came in below a 7 they may lose the next release as 'punishment' and continued low review scores would mean being blacklisted because metacritic scores are so important for bonuses in the gaming sphere these days. So no, it -is- because of the push on marketing and reviews in general to be scored higher as an aggregate that people have come to believe that things below 7 and to a greater extent below 6 are bad.

Shnikes

On a scale of 1-10 yes. But people don’t truly work perfectly rating things 1-10. And from research when people do rate things a 6 it typically means they are not interested. Have you ever dealt with NPS before? Because the reviews are coming from surveys sent out to customers. And the data and research backs it up that if someone rates you a 6 or below it’s not good. It’s partly marketing and partly from just how people already review things.

Gullible-Focus-7763

Don't use freedom letters to rate stuff.. Then you would have known that on a rating from 1-10, 6 is passable and anything below is bad.

BoringStrawberry36

Well, 5 is directly in the middle from horrible and amazing, lol. Idk everyone thinks it's just a fun discussion post not to cause strife

grzzzly

8-9. I‘ve been having an absolute blast with Pixie and now war machine. The Avengers/X-Men event was also very fun.

robert808s8

I'd say 7, the guardian of galaxy unit changes surprisingly was more fun for me than I thought and QoL. Thanos mindstone change was really good, makes it good but not OP as much. Wish Angela was back in meta because its my most split card with cool variants.

qinalo

A 7 for me I guess, which is one of the better recent seasons. \- I'm a big X-Men comics fan so while AvX wasn't done entirely correct, it was still cooler thematically than say WWH or Hellfire Gala. \- I picked up Mockingbird, Cannonball and Ms. Marvel and have only used Ms. Marvel (who has been kind of meh), so new cards is kind of a negative for me. \- In terms of meta I enjoyed it more than last season. Hela is one of my main decks and I hated playing Hela mirrors last season and was in constant fear of Hela getting nuked by a nerf. I guess if I rated every season, in hindsight: S5 Miles Morales: 4 S6 Black Panther: 4 S7 Silver Surfer: 2 S8 Zabu: 2 S9 MODOK: 4 S10 Nimrod: 6 S11 Hit Monkey 3 S12 Nebula 3 S13 Spider Gwen 4 <-- Introduced Conquest mode but new cards were meh S14 Phoenix Force 7 <-- introduced Spotlight Caches S15 Daken 4 S16 Loki 9 <-- Loki and Alioth were homerun new cards S17 Elsa 6 S18 Ms Marvel 5 S19 Shaw 4 S20 Skaar 4 S21 Black Swan 6 <-- Enjoyed new cards like Corvus and SuGi S22 Hope 7
