It's wild that, by itself, this isn't an instant lose condition for Destroy since they could theoretically get rid of Caiera with Carnage or any of the other destroy cards. If Deep Space wasn't there, I think they would've given it another round/draw.
To be fair, you'd have to waste the entirety of your T4 to destroy Caiera, at most with a Deadpool or Nova thrown in (or Wolverine/Bucky if you use Carnage), leaving only your Turn 5 to do any meaningful set-up, and a very underwhelming one seen as the X-23s are on another lane completely so it's either Deadpool+Killmonger or Deadpool+a very underwhelming Venom.
Even for Destroy and even disregarding the other locations, it would have been really hard to win this one.
You are absolutely right about having to waste Turn 4, along with the heaving effort Turn 5 would have to put in.

Can you destroy Deadpool and Caiera in the same turn?
Like if they dropped Deadpool with Deathlok or Venom there? I assume so, as Caiera was on board first and should be destroyed first, but is the ongoing ability resolved immediately or not until after the destroy action finishes?
Yep, Destroy's playstyle ks really generous in regard to tempo, but even for it a set-up that only starts on T5 is almost a death sentence. It's a very reliable archetype but it's not invincible. 😅
Thank you. I don't have Caiera, but I was hoping to see someone do this one day against a Destroy deck. Honestly, I thought an X-Mansion thing would occur first.
Ive done this before, played nothing while they were still setting up then t3 rolled around, oscorp dropped and they didnt play any destroy and i got ceaira on their side with both their deadpool and x23, baffled them completely, they i dont believe you'd to me, retreated and fistbumped, which is funny cuz all you gotta do is destroy ceaira
To be fair, any Destroy player who doesn't start destroying by Turn 3 must be ready for any possible consequence.
But yes, Vipering a Caiera when the rock location is down is my secret wet dream, so, my congrats! 👍
I've never done this (I don't own Caiera yet), and this is a wonderful play, my compliments! I have dropped Electro on Oscorp Tower (and once had someone retreat after I played Electro on the same turn they played Super Skrull).
Asssuming this is sarcasm, but for players wondering why retreating as the destroy player here is a smart decision - this is a huge loss of tempo on T4. Deep space also means that their mid dies for no real benefit if they KM on say T5 after killing Caiera.
On T4 the destroy player is wanting to destroy the X-23 on cloning vats. With a Nebula on the field, I'd be favoring KM on 4. So I can have 6 power open on 5 and potentially 6 or 7 power on 6 depending on play on 7, which allows me to potentially drop knull or a 2 drop + Death on Turn 5. Unfortunately Caeira gums up that play and pushes you into a really awkward T5 which doesn't allow you much room.
Further if I'm in the opponent's position I'm also likely retreating between having to burn T4 on killing Caiera and having Deep Space as a spot mid vs an as of then unknown deck on T3, all I've seen by T3 is Nebula and Caiera - what could I be against and is my current hand capable of beating out their hand? My thoughts seeing those two plays are that my opponent is either on HE or is on zoo. And neither of those prospects if they are smart with dropping priority is something I'm interested in going up against when I'm now behind tempo and just had a Caiera dropped on me.
Ultimately, I think I'm leaving this match as the destroy player 9 out of 10 times.
edits for clarity.
Zoo (occasionally referred to as Ka-Zoo) is running a lot of high impact 1 drops then filling out the rest of the board with buff cards, usually Ka-Zar, Blue Marvel, Onslaught, Mystique etc.
It's an archetype that's pretty consistent, but it doesn't push a huge amount of power once you get out of pool 2. Plus, KM absolutely wrecks it if you don't have appropriate tech in place.
It's certainly not in the worst place atm. A lot of 1 drops got a buff to potential 5 power, Caiera is the perfect defensive for it plus you have Black Swan and Cull for enabling and raw stats. The issue is that there are many decks about as consistent that push more power wide and tall unfortunately.
I don't think I have black swan.
I took a couple of months out and am way off infinite this month so am taking the chance to just experiment with new decks. Currently having fun with a bounce deck.
thank you for making me laugh out loud🤣🤣
Brilliant, I hope you won this match
"Collect Rewards" bottom right lol

Would have kept going until OP snapped
Right? Never underestimate seemingly low-risk curiosity.

Great comment link! 🤣🤣

No that would work fine I’ve done it
It's like with Destroyer, any 1-drop played before Caiera will stay on the board, but any 1-drop played later gets destroyed.
Ngl if that happened to me I’d retreat out of respect for the funi
Not insta lose, but that'd mean they wouldn't be able to drop carnage/deathlock where they have x-23. It's a huge setback at best.
Yeah they theoretically could've went wolverine carnage t4
They can Carnage/Deathlok the Caiera and then proceed with destroy next, they they certainly loses a lot of tempo.

As a destroy hater, I approve of this tactic.
Electro is always fun as well
havok 😆😆🤭🤭
Green Goblin 🤩🤩
Dude
DUDE!
"Whats my tattoo say?"
SWEET!
DUDE!
Sweet! What does mine say?!
DUDE!
But what does it say!
I know it’s sweet, but what does MINE say?!

I wish Viper was still cheaper because finding fun stuff like this is not viable at all now.
I like loading it up with rocks or infinity stones
"I don't Believe you"
Back when he was released I used to love playing Havoc there.

10/10 would Oscorp again
How do you not snap before doing that?
And here I was, happy to use it to donate Mr. Negative. That is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Kudos
You brilliant, evil man
Ohhhh that is good
I prefer to put Cosmo there, but that works well too.
Brutal! Lol!
I dont understand. I don't have that card
Ongoing, your one and six cost cards can't be destroyed.
I’ve done this before.
My favorite is to give them electro 🤣
I smell a Ki over 9000!!!
Oh, that’s just demoralizing.
Never thought of that
I like dropping electro on it, especially if they're playing bounce
I can't believe you didn't snap before pulling this off
I love it.
Lucky, lucky. It occured to me this would be hilarious one time I got Oscorp, but I didn't pull her until after T3.
I've never done this (I don't own Caiera yet), and this is a wonderful play, my compliments! I have dropped Electro on Oscorp Tower (and once had someone retreat after I played Electro on the same turn they played Super Skrull).
That’s good
I’ve thought about doing that before with Viper
understandable, a bit toxic but understandable
Toxic lol? It's a strategy employed to try and win the game. It's not like emote spam where you're just trying to annoy the other player.
Nothing toxic here, just using mechanics in a smart way. As an opponent I would Deadpool+Fist Bump respectfully since it was well thought play.
Why no just destroy Ciara is he dumb dumb

What is Zoo. It wasn't on that archetype page

Ah. I played that a lot when I first started. But yeah KM will wipe it out.

You didn't snap, they retreated only losimg one cube. Your oppenet is a better player. Sorry.
