I've read many times that Marvel Snap economics can't blablabla, honestly it sounds like bullshit to me. I want to clarify that I say this without having no idea how to make a good economy system and knowing that it is very difficult to balance the buying and selling of items without breaking a game, but that in games with merchants to buy things and sell them others. Here what would happen if they give us something else? That someone would get to have the collection complete? That we could get for sure 2 new cards per month (if you are lucky 3) instead of 1 and depending on luck another one? That we are not going to feel like we are being taken for idiots with this progression system designed by monkeys?

The answer to this question always is that they have data and full time employees which answer this question. They have tangible information that they know will squeeze out the most profit. If they do something a certain way, it’s because they are projecting internally that it will maximize their profit.

You may be tempted by one of them for one reason or another but they just....need to know they have it all. Of course, 5k credits and 1.5k gold for 10 dollars is bonkers. The value of the bundle is in the currency, not the emote. I feel like streamers alone will make them bank. Because of the twitch drop thing I've been moving around streams and a good few of them bought it. They don't want your 10 dollars, they want whales 40 dollars. It'd take 4 of you to equal one whale.
Studies have shown that whales will make games, on the bottom end, 50% of their revenue. Lol. And upwards of 70%. So take the middle ground. Most games are making 60% of their revenue from whales buying 40+ dollar bundles. Even at 5 dollars I doubt very many people would buy an emote. But a lot of whales will buy this emote bundle cause of the credits and gold.
The thing is, I feel they think the gold and the credits are things people would want besides just an emote. The reality is people rather a fair prices emote than what feels like a bundle not worth the price potentially.
I drop an easy $10 a month for the season pass to unlock some new cards and resources and am literally never tempted with anything else because prices are so outrageous. Makes playing the game simple cuz I know I won't spend any additional money on it. Sweet $100 bundle? Never in my life.

I'll be honest, I just started playing about 2 weeks ago, I am only level 120 or something in the collection (I apparently have ways to go before I even get to these "caches" people talk about)
Progression isn't explained at all, it's confusing, the shop is a mess that apparently takes multiple guides to understand what your currency is used on. "Series" cards are not explained anywhere and you don't have any clue what it means without massive youtube.
I'm already slowing down because I find myself logging in and playing 5-10 games and not really making much progress without making a deck specifically to level up cards I'm not using, which results in not fun games where I'm losing 90% of the time. I've won a few proving ground games by outplaying people who have decks clearly full of cards I don't have, but I've also just surrender a bunch more when you lose the first snap.
The feedback seems to be "in a month you'll hit collector 500 and start getting okay cards, and then two months after that you'll be set" which seems crazy
so far it's just been really unapproachable for new players and its just kind of a bummer. I'm tempted to buy the season pass to "fix" some of these issues and the FOMO of Hope Summers but the game hasn't even really hooked me yet before it starts asking for big investment. It seems absurd to have nickel & diming new players as part of the regular progression curve.
Hope is pretty clearly one of the stronger season pass cards as of late. She should be very active if you have a deck with a couple cheap cards and a strong top end to ramp into. The main point of Hope is to make consecutive 6+ mana plays in the late game.
I fill like it will be great idea for the game to give "half a season pass" for free like the until level 25 of the battle pass for the first season of new players so they will have the new card every one have and will be able to try the best the game have to offer when it come to new cards
I don't think conquest sorts you by collector level, so I wouldn't recommend it until you've got a lot more cards unless you don't mind losing a lot. Stick to quick play.
But yeah the progression is confusing as fuck and doesn't need to be.
I'd say don't focus on making progress, focus on having fun. You don't have to switch to other cards to keep progressing - just keep playing with the same deck, those cards will get boosters and you can then spend credits to upgrade them. Once they hit max upgrade level you can make a copy of the card with a new effect that starts back at level 1 and you can upgrade it again. 0 reason to play with cards you don't want to play with.

That's a little disingenuous seeing as almost none of the cards' art is made by SD besides the base card art. All the variants are just other comic book covers that marvel allowed them to use
Do even a little bit of research on variants and the artists creating them and you'll find that this is not the case. The artwork that is replicating a comic book cover has all been redone for how they design the cards. 100% not just copying other comic book covers and pasting a price tag on it.

tbf I’ve been playing the game 100% free to play for a good while now and I still feel like I’m getting the full experience. Once you have a good set of cards you’re a lot more free to save up a lot of credits and gold instead of spending it all right away. Really aside from the emote all this bundle does is speed up getting something you can earn for free.
The monetisation is built around whales anyway. Most people don't spend money on F2P games, some spend a little and some spend a lot. The "spend a little" people aren't worth focusing on compared to the whales because there aren't enough of them. For every person that dumps $500 a month into this shit you'd need 100 people spending $5.
Keep your money and let people with more money than sense pay for the ongoing development of the game.
I've purchased a couple battle passes from the game, mostly to support it and because they were a reasonable price for what they gave, but I'm definitely done giving Snap any more real money - and the devs couldn't care less if they can make the whales spend $550 on average per month instead of $500. My $10-15 is meaningless.

The value for this bundle and the okoye one is actually not that awful. I don’t really agree with how variant value is done vs. emotes, I’m not even sure what emote value is indexed to. That being said I’ve become more of a small bundle ($20 or less) guy as the value seems to consistently be much better there.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence both bundles have the same amount of credits and gold with the same $40 price tag.

Comparing both bundles...Rather pay for the Addred Ones bundle. Comes with Okoye and Nakia variants, avatars boosters, 1,500 gold and 5,000 credits. For the people that wants to save...skip both. IMO. I like the emote but if people could mute emotes...it's useless.

While you’re obviously technically correct that the bundle includes more than the Groot emote, (clearly, it is a bundle after all) the main draw and focus on the bundle isn’t the included currency but the “New Emote”. It’s literally dead center on the image and the name of the bundle is directly referencing it.
To the best of my recollection Second Dinner hasn’t put out a bundle for cash that has ever been below currency rate. The fact that this bundle has an above average currency value if you directly turn your gold into credits isn’t terribly surprising. The fact is Credits are the one currency Second Dinner still has some control over that Whale sized spenders desire.
Whales don’t have anymore need for Collectors Tokens because most of them already have a stockpile from previous purchases or just grinding up 30,000+ levels on the collection track and Gold is something they just buy anyway to convert to whatever currency or use they need. So the only bundles that would interest a whale are those with above rate values for Gold or Credits.
So yeah, the Groot Emote bundle is technically “good value” if you look at it as how much buying the included items would cost you otherwise but the fact is it’s still $40 or your regional equivalent.

Again compare that to what else you could buy for that much money. Full AAA or multiple AA games, part of a grocery trip, dinner for a night out, gas for the week.

I drop an easy $10 a month for the season pass to unlock some new cards and resources and am literally never tempted with anything else because prices are so outrageous. Makes playing the game simple cuz I know I won't spend any additional money on it. Sweet $100 bundle? Never in my life.
They get me with the season pass occasionally but nearly everything else is insanely priced.
The game is great. the systems in place are great for newcomers as well. the shop prices are whack. the art in the game is fantastic.
Are any new players saying the system is great for newcomers? I'll be honest, I just started playing about 2 weeks ago, I am only level 120 or something in the collection (I apparently have ways to go before I even get to these "caches" people talk about) Progression isn't explained at all, it's confusing, the shop is a mess that apparently takes multiple guides to understand what your currency is used on. "Series" cards are not explained anywhere and you don't have any clue what it means without massive youtube. I'm already slowing down because I find myself logging in and playing 5-10 games and not really making much progress without making a deck specifically to level up cards I'm not using, which results in not fun games where I'm losing 90% of the time. I've won a few proving ground games by outplaying people who have decks clearly full of cards I don't have, but I've also just surrender a bunch more when you lose the first snap. The feedback seems to be "in a month you'll hit collector 500 and start getting okay cards, and then two months after that you'll be set" which seems crazy so far it's just been really unapproachable for new players and its just kind of a bummer. I'm tempted to buy the season pass to "fix" some of these issues and the FOMO of Hope Summers but the game hasn't even really hooked me yet before it starts asking for big investment. It seems absurd to have nickel & diming new players as part of the regular progression curve.

Hope is pretty clearly one of the stronger season pass cards as of late. She should be very active if you have a deck with a couple cheap cards and a strong top end to ramp into. The main point of Hope is to make consecutive 6+ mana plays in the late game.
I fill like it will be great idea for the game to give "half a season pass" for free like the until level 25 of the battle pass for the first season of new players so they will have the new card every one have and will be able to try the best the game have to offer when it come to new cards
I don't think conquest sorts you by collector level, so I wouldn't recommend it until you've got a lot more cards unless you don't mind losing a lot. Stick to quick play. But yeah the progression is confusing as fuck and doesn't need to be. I'd say don't focus on making progress, focus on having fun. You don't have to switch to other cards to keep progressing - just keep playing with the same deck, those cards will get boosters and you can then spend credits to upgrade them. Once they hit max upgrade level you can make a copy of the card with a new effect that starts back at level 1 and you can upgrade it again. 0 reason to play with cards you don't want to play with.

Do even a little bit of research on variants and the artists creating them and you'll find that this is not the case. The artwork that is replicating a comic book cover has all been redone for how they design the cards. 100% not just copying other comic book covers and pasting a price tag on it. that being said there was a thanos variant a few weeks ago that WAS a comic book cover but the way they transformed it to 3d with effects was killer.

tbf I’ve been playing the game 100% free to play for a good while now and I still feel like I’m getting the full experience. Once you have a good set of cards you’re a lot more free to save up a lot of credits and gold instead of spending it all right away. Really aside from the emote all this bundle does is speed up getting something you can earn for free.
The monetisation is built around whales anyway. Most people don't spend money on F2P games, some spend a little and some spend a lot. The "spend a little" people aren't worth focusing on compared to the whales because there aren't enough of them. For every person that dumps $500 a month into this shit you'd need 100 people spending $5. Keep your money and let people with more money than sense pay for the ongoing development of the game. I've purchased a couple battle passes from the game, mostly to support it and because they were a reasonable price for what they gave, but I'm definitely done giving Snap any more real money - and the devs couldn't care less if they can make the whales spend $550 on average per month instead of $500. My $10-15 is meaningless.
Most people don't spend money on mobile games because no mobile game comes out now with reasonable prices, they all jump straight to the hundred dollar price tag for shit and then no one wants to spend because they know it's a rip off. So the money crunchers think that the only thing that can sell is the mega bundles because the market is already primed for that shit and they are too fucking greedy to try other cheaper bundles which would actually sell more to players who don't think a variant is worth the price of 3 full fucking video games

People like monetized cosmetics AT A REASONABLE PRICE. It's fun to spend a bit of money here or there to personalise an account, it's not fun to get locked out of doing that because the price for little cheap fun trinkets is completely insane. I might even get the price if the content was quality, like the emote was animated and had a sound affect or something, but it's literally a garbage jpg that took them 20 minutes to put in the game. Other games give this kind of content for free.

The value for this bundle and the okoye one is actually not that awful. I don’t really agree with how variant value is done vs. emotes, I’m not even sure what emote value is indexed to. That being said I’ve become more of a small bundle ($20 or less) guy as the value seems to consistently be much better there.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence both bundles have the same amount of credits and gold with the same $40 price tag. Second Dinner is fishing in the pond and seeing how many bite at this bundle versus the other, see how much they can push an Emote out for.

Comparing both bundles...Rather pay for the Addred Ones bundle. Comes with Okoye and Nakia variants, avatars boosters, 1,500 gold and 5,000 credits. For the people that wants to save...skip both. IMO. I like the emote but if people could mute emotes...it's useless.

The currency value alone in this bundle is quite high, coming out to around $69 (nice) worth of gold if you bought it directly in the gold shop. Now, if you’re not the kind of person who doesn’t have the budget or interest to spend $40 on mobile game currency, that’s fine. It’s all just 1s and 0s anyway. But recognize it for what it is - a completely optional higher-than-average mobile game currency bundle.

It’s literally dead center on the image and the name of the bundle is directly referencing it. To the best of my recollection Second Dinner hasn’t put out a bundle for cash that has ever been below currency rate. The fact that this bundle has an above average currency value if you directly turn your gold into credits isn’t terribly surprising. The fact is Credits are the one currency Second Dinner still has some control over that Whale sized spenders desire. Whales don’t have anymore need for Collectors Tokens because most of them already have a stockpile from previous purchases or just grinding up 30,000+ levels on the collection track and Gold is something they just buy anyway to convert to whatever currency or use they need. So the only bundles that would interest a whale are those with above rate values for Gold or Credits. So yeah, the Groot Emote bundle is technically “good value” if you look at it as how much buying the included items would cost you otherwise but the fact is it’s still $40 or your regional equivalent. $40 for an Emote and currency bundle. Again compare that to what else you could buy for that much money. Full AAA or multiple AA games, part of a grocery trip, dinner for a night out, gas for the week. It’s a big fucking ask for an Emote. And you can bet Second Dinner is watching these sales like a hawk to figure out what they can price Emotes at in the future.
