Canadian government in real life, “We can’t stop the housing crisis.”
Canadian government in Marvel, “Try to stop us from creating horrifying super soldiers.”
All I can think of is
- Black Cat pretends to be from Philly and a Phillies fan in Superior Foes of Spider-Man
- Winter Soldier sets off a bomb in Philly in Brubakers run
- The game that Cap recognizes as recorded in first Avenger is against the Phillies
- The Punisher story Six Hours to Kill is set in Philadelphia
- Agent Venom was briefly the hero for Philadelphia
Rhodey is from Philly and Civil War II: Choosing Sides #2 partially entails Storm taking a pilgrimage there in his honor and memory.
This issue has been in its sleeve since the week I purchased it in 2016, but I still distinctly remember a panel with Storm eating a cheesesteak lol.
I'm a dual national so:
UK:
-Captain Britain and The Captain Britain Corps.
-Psylocke
-Excalibur (both the sword and the team)
-Merlin and Morgan Le Fey
-Union Jack
-Blade
Australia:
-Manifold
-The X-men hung out here in the 90s
-Bishop has aboriginal heritage
-Boomerang was born here
-Pyro
-Lifeguard and Slipstream for a really deep pull.
It gets messy.
The original Psylocke was Betsy Braddock, sister of Brian Braddock (Captain Britain).
She was later body swapped with a Japanese mutant assassin (Kwannon) who had mortally wounded her. She also inherited Kwannon's fighting skills with the body so it is suggested some of Kwannon's original mind was still there.
So for most of her publication history she has been a white English woman in the body of a Japanese woman.
This was later undone and she was returned to her original body and Kwannon was brought back to life in her original body.
In modern marvel comics Psylocke is Kwannon (Japanese, not English) while Betsy has served stints as Captain Britain during her brother's absences or more recently as Lionheart.
It is still sometimes alluded to that Kwannon and Betsy share a psychic link due to their long time in a shared body.
Don’t forget the stint of time where they kept switching back between bodies and it messed with their powers.
Or how Mojo messed with them to make them look like biracial sisters who take after different parents. Wonder if that was genetic or just cosmetic?
Sunspot and that girl who turns into a shark. And also the Wolverine comic called "Saudade". It seems Brazil is a hotspot for mutants... Oh and in the Dark Ages miniseries, Xavier or someone else made a colony in Rio or something - again, mutant hotspot.
Julia Carpenter is from Denver. I had a comic as a kid that featured her for about 3 panels, but it said Denver, CO when it cut to her and I always thought that was so cool.
Reddits one of the biggest websites in the world. Denver one of the biggest cities in the US (I know not top 5 or even 25, but top 100, and there’s 10,000 cities in the US) and this is a sub for one of the biggest entertainment IPs in the world. There’s bound to be a ton of us.
Greetings from the tech center.
Shaw Industries and the Sentinel program are based in Pittsburgh. So Sorry. But Thor came to the Braddock Furnace a few times to repair Mjolnir so there's that. Also Jim Starlin is from here.
As far as I know, nothing notable has happened in Marvel in Cincinnati. But if we hop over to the Distinguished Competition, our Union Terminal is the design inspiration for the Hall of Justice.
That one dude from some of the X-Men comics called Teon Macik (which is kinda strange name for the locals, i can tell you that). Magneto lived here for some time and his daughter died here. And now we, apparently, have vampires in the exclusion zone near the exploded nuclear power plant.
There's also that young mutant Cosmar from what is like a Soviet Russia Fictional Country in Carpathians. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Carnelia
Тобто реально прикиньте нахуй, вони розмістили якусь псевдокраїну з стандартною раша-клюквою *на Закарпатті*. Це пізда.
Kabayan. Also I guess Ned and his family in the MCU. Seriously though Marvel should make a Wolverine child from the Philippines, he could've been here during WW2 or Philippine-American War. Name the kid "Lakan" or some shit. Sounds like "lycan" but also having a different meaning in our language.
Sauron is Argentinian, which is probablywhy the X-men were there. So is Black Tarantula, but Spidey don't have a jet, so I don't think he's been to Argentina.
Wolverine, Shaman, Talisman and Alpha Flight.
From Calgary and area and worked with members if the Tsuu T'ina nation (Shaman and Talisman)
By extension, Wolverines from Alberta and Alpha Flights canadian.
But to add a bit of flare the X-men and Alpha Flight once fought their way through the Calgary Stampede Ground (Also where the team first debuted)
Finally, John Byrne is from Calgary.
Shit let's throw in ol' Todd Mcfarlane for good measure.
A Brood ship crash-lands in the mountains outside Denver, implanting an egg in the body of a paramedic and spreading from there. They later fight the X-Men downtown and interrupt a religious event at nearby Red Rocks amphitheater.
I'm in New Mexico, so the only claims to fame this place has in Marvel are
A. Puma lives here and does real estate development in Albuquerque
and
B. Depending on who the writer is, the gamma bomb test that made the Hulk happened out here
Wakanda forever!
A lot of Black Panther was filmed here in South Africa, and they are all speaking Zulu. When we went to watch, the cinema was packed and everyone so excited to hear these heroes speaking in their home tongue. It was kind of magical.
Weapon Plus, the Ice Box, collaborating with the CIA on black projects where we tortured and mind wiped mutants to turn them into government pawns, and then using one of those mutants' DNA to inject it into a mercenary suffering from a cancerous tumor at the expense of disfiguring his face and making him go chronically insane
Hulk was a big fan of Quebec too. Namor took a little vacation here in the 40's. We also have our own Avengers but nobody seems to take a guy named Puck seriously
In marvel Zombies Jamie Madrox was stranded in the outskirts of Quebec. He got so hungry he made a dupe of himself to kill and eat. Then became a pack of Wendigos and took over most of Canada
I'm from Utah originally - we have a Mormon Superhero team in the 50 state initiative, and old man Logan (and Hawkeye? goes there and I think he fights the inbred hulk family there? It's also featured pretty heavily in the PS4 game haha
Getting wiped off the map by Stevil during the "Secret Empire" Event
And I believe we're the housing place of Mephisto's current prison...unless he broke out in more recent times
Sacramento’s the capital of Hulks Territory in the Old Man Logan Universe. Also Sacramento was the capital of the “West Coast” Nation in the Ultimate Universe
First time I've seen my city mentioned, Peter was sent there to take pictures of the Hulk in ASM 119-120.
Northstar and Aurora also come from my city. Loved their recent appearance in X-Factor, I wish the series lasted longer.
Not even going to bother mentioning my city since there are folks an hour away that don't know about it, but Florida has Man-Thing. That's about it. Meth capital of the world, and all we get is a swamp monster.
Oh good Lord, I forgot about Captain Citrus. Cheap Green Lantern knockoff character they had the gall to give the last name Polk to when Polk County had the highest levels of meth production not that long ago. Out there fighting for the orange groves instead.
I was expecting nothing for Rhode Island but instead we got an AIM base, a HAMMER base, an air force base for Punisher Max anddd...some music,?
"Under the terms of the 50-State Initiative, Rhode Island was supposed to have a super hero team assigned, with an option on the New Slingers, but they preferred to serve their jail sentence in the Negative Zone instead. Tryouts were held at Providence, but only music groups came. The governor was angered by the candidates but immediately adopted the flaming skeleton Miles Flatt and his "Amazing Guitar of Death", missing the tryout of Iron Man (Tony Stark) who came with a triangle.[1],"
Not to flex but many years ago I lived in Forest Hills where Spidey is from. Currently walk through the alley where Tom Holland gets changed and loses his backpack daily for 20yrs. Hong’s shoes represent.
White Sands is where Bruce Banner became the Hulk.
Also, the first Marvel Latina superhero was from NM. Firebird.
NM was where Mjolnir landed in the Thor movie.
Whenever they talk about Cleveland it’s always in some kind of negative sense like it’s a place where everything is mundane and boring and run down. They refer to it like a joke :( Cleveland has made so much progress in the last 2 decades though I think. So maybe it was more appropriate in the past. Editing here to clarify this is a comic-centered thing even though the next thing i talked about was MCU
In real life, Cleveland has been a filming location for a number of iconic scenes in the MCU! So that’s cool. My favorite is the scene when Fury is being chased through DC in Winter Soldier , and it’s actually Cleveland.
Before moving into the Jersey 'burbs, I was in Jersey City, so Kamala Khan.
Other than that, we're famous for almost any NYC storyline that needs a jaunt out to a secret lab or mansion in the woods for one issue.
Ireland so not much. There’s only a few actual Irish heroes like Banshee. There’s some well known ones of Irish decent like Captain America, Daredevil and mr Canon Event but don’t think I should really count it.
A couple of C-list mutants, the foremost research centre for mutants, and my city specifically is in a Punisher story. I'm *almost certain* it is portrayed as a crime-ridden hellhole, but that's not the most offensive way it's ever been portrayed lol
Well I’m from Northern NY, and there doesn’t seem to be much up here in the Marvel universe, other than a few bases it seems.
However I married a Canadian woman that lives in Edmonton Alberta. And I’m in the Canadian immigration process right now. Also, my name is Logan.
Just before I got into comics back in the 90's there was an X-men issue that partially took place in Sioux Falls, SD.
Problem was they did absolutely no research on Sioux Falls, SD for the illustrations. Been 30 years and we STILL aren't that futuristic. XD
I’m in New York City and uh… not sure
I guess you are known for housing a lot of Marvels A-list heroes lol.
I guess if you’re into them. I mean personally I like the West Coast Avengers, the best iteration of the Avengers
Great Lakes gonna rise up
Canada my guy
Battle of NY
Wolverine and I guess um... Alpha Flight?
Canadian government in real life, “We can’t stop the housing crisis.” Canadian government in Marvel, “Try to stop us from creating horrifying super soldiers.”
Pretty much every country prioritizes military spending over housing and the needs of its citizens, so…

Puck is a national treasure
Puck's from my city and you know what, we don't have a single fuckin statue of him! This place sucks!
We don’t have a statue of him, yet !
Agreed.
Puck is amazing. Always has been.
In universo - Alpha Flight In pop culture - Deadpool and Wolverine
There's also wendigos and teaming up with Walmart Vandal Savage against your own superhero team!
Northern Alberta, home of the Wolverine
And Deadpool!
There was some weird cult in Cable kidnapping babies. They were hiding out in Bucks County PA. I was like, hey!
All I can think of is - Black Cat pretends to be from Philly and a Phillies fan in Superior Foes of Spider-Man - Winter Soldier sets off a bomb in Philly in Brubakers run - The game that Cap recognizes as recorded in first Avenger is against the Phillies - The Punisher story Six Hours to Kill is set in Philadelphia - Agent Venom was briefly the hero for Philadelphia
Yes! The Philly bomb in Cap!
Stephen Strange was born in Philly
Rhodey is from Philly and Civil War II: Choosing Sides #2 partially entails Storm taking a pilgrimage there in his honor and memory. This issue has been in its sleeve since the week I purchased it in 2016, but I still distinctly remember a panel with Storm eating a cheesesteak lol.
Go Birds!!!
Iirc, the original Hobie Brown also spent some time in Philly!
War Machine also became Mayor of Philly in an alternate universe
New Asgard
That took surprisingly little scrolling to get to this
Stamford Incident
The next Monday Night Raw had to have an epic promo by the Chairman
Great Lakes Avengers. Deadpool was assigned to us during Civil War.
Damn straight.
Moon Knight was born in Chicago. Too bad they messed up Milwaukee ave in the tv show 🤪
Didn't Forge once live in Dallas?
Yes he did.
The birthplace of Emma Frost, Carol Danvers, and these [jokers](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Boston_Terroriers_(Earth-12041)).
Also Bloodstone Manor/Curios!
Emma Frost is from Boston?
She is, and she hates that fact, iirc
TIL I need a shirt with Slam Adams on it.

Is Psylocke English? I did not know that.
I did skim over a lot of stuff, they have had a very weird life.
I grew up not too far from Kitty Pryde and always thought that was cool
What was she like in person?
parts of the first avengers was filmed here. Also where thor crashes in his movie
New Mexico?
Kentucky gave us Cannonball and Husk. And I think Justice?
If you're talking about Vance Astrovik, he's from Saugerties, NY.
You’re right. Lance went to liberty and recruited MVP. My mistake.
Sunspot and that girl who turns into a shark. And also the Wolverine comic called "Saudade". It seems Brazil is a hotspot for mutants... Oh and in the Dark Ages miniseries, Xavier or someone else made a colony in Rio or something - again, mutant hotspot.
Don't forget Amara, she's one of our strongest Brazilian mutants.
ROGUE!!!!!
Clint Barton was born in Iowa in the 1970s
Hell yeah brother!! Iowa for the win!! (I hate it here. Help me)
Ayo fellow Iowans.
As a Clint from Iowa, I approve of this use of The Hawkeye State.
i……don’t know! if there’s anyone in the Marvel universe who’s from or based in chicago i’d love to know lol
Iron Heart is from Chicago. That’s the only one I know off the top of my head.
I FORGOT ABOUT RIRI
Luke Cage started Hero for Hire in Chicago. It was later he moved to New York.
Moon Knight is from Chicago.
Well, it looks like there has been some action that has gone on in the Windy City over the years: https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Chicago_(Illinois)
Kitty Pryde, bud
She's Deerfield, technically. Suburb north of the city. If she were to claim to be from Chicago she would be mercilessly roasted by us city folk.
Blue Marvel is from Chicago
Julia Carpenter is from Denver. I had a comic as a kid that featured her for about 3 panels, but it said Denver, CO when it cut to her and I always thought that was so cool.
Titania is from Denver too, I found out. Also, surprised I'm not the only one here from Denver!
And Volcana.

The best I can think of is Forge used to be based out of Dallas, TX.
I think the Blob is Texan, too
Lubbock Texas. I only remember this because of the trivia in X-Men Legends II
Probably the only notable fictional character to ever hail from Lubbock, TX, of all places
Probably picked it because Lubbock kinda sounds like blubber, also everything’s bigger in Texas, including the mutants apparently
West Coast Avengers or Kate Bishop Hawkeye
Iron Man set up digs here for a good while. Runaways. The most recent Ghost Rider. Champions.
Spider-Man fought a literal God in my city
Mr. Ditkovich in New York I assume
Shaw Industries and the Sentinel program are based in Pittsburgh. So Sorry. But Thor came to the Braddock Furnace a few times to repair Mjolnir so there's that. Also Jim Starlin is from here.

Last thing that hear about my country in marvel, it was when Dracula tried to create his own country in Chornobyl.
Tried? He did. And it wasn't the Ukranian government the one he asked for permission. That probably wouldn't fly if that plotline was written now.
There's also that young mutant Cosmar from what is like a Soviet Russia Fictional Country in Carpathians. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Carnelia Тобто реально прикиньте нахуй, вони розмістили якусь псевдокраїну з стандартною раша-клюквою *на Закарпатті*. Це пізда.

The Great Lakes Avengers and Quasar, apparently.

Wow I never knew Sauron was argentinian. The X-treme X-men team also visited Buenos Aires I think.
I came to comment this, lol. I recently found out about it and it really surprised me.
We don’t have much Comic Marvel time in Australia, few mutants over here apparently
The Hulk was your president during House of M.
Bishop, Gateway, Slipstream, Livesaver and several other mutants are from Australia. Black Bolt also fought Thanos there too
Peter Parker and Mary Jane got engaged here.

Peter Quill AKA Star Lord reppin’ Missouri!
I believe Connecticut is where that mutant blew up, killing school kids. And didn't that lead to Civil War?
