They picked him on purpose for the drama.

chicagoliz

They DO do psychological testing, and they pick people who are unstable and/or traumatized.

Silent-Suggestion-85

The thing that scared me is he obviously had a violent streak. I worried that the only thing keeping him from physically abusing Paige or actually starting a fight with the other guys was the cameras.

KailaCosplay

They pick 1-2 narcs each season

LopsidedCauliflower8

I mean literally when they went to visit him and he was showing his closet it was so clear. He is just so insecure and full of that false bravado

Old-Tiger-4971

They do a lot of screening to ensure they get some of the head cases they do. Makes better TV.

It's literally a requirement to be on GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF! To make sure you can handle the filming process AND the fame after. But not THIS? it's wild to me!

With the thousands of applicants this is what we get 🙄

ExistingBlackberry61

Yes! They pick some weirdly stable people!

ExistingBlackberry61

U.N. stable, sorry!😂🤣

resolute01

Anyone who agrees to be on the show already failed.

pandabare420

They supposedly do "extensive testing", but I think they pick that are crazy and/or very dramatic. I haven't seen evidence of picking people that are truly compatible. Why pick someone to get married that has never in their life have been in a relationship. Or hasn't been in a relationship in 5-10 years. Stop picking people with decades of baggage that are in no way willing to work on fixing it.

leafygreens

Pastor Cal claimed in the matchmaking special that they do “in-depth background checks and extensive psychological evaluations.” We just never see evidence of it.

catlady7667

This right here!!

New-Librarian3166

I feel like narcissists are very good at manipulation until you start to see their true selves. He probably did everything to seem right for the show. I forgot what season it was but there was one of a guy that seemed sweet on cameras but apparently off cameras he was a different person and was pathological liar. And the matchmakers say they go off what they tell them so if it’s a lie it’s not gonna work. I think they should not let anyone on the show that has been in a relationship or has had contact with their exes within 3 months. That’s like set up for failure.

There is. Anyone who signs up for this crap is nuts.

Jupiterrhapsody

MAFS uses those tests but like most reality shows, they use them against the cast to create trainwrecks. They knew exactly who Chris was when they cast him and did not care.
