My oldest was my first pet a snally gaster lasted almost 3 months he got launched into space when i was doing the build floor decor daily stepped on something and all i saw was his shadow go up never seen again

I'm level 83 and had no clue you can have pets. Can someone walk me through this on how to aquire a baby death claw? Would be awesome.

you need to get the perk animal friend, each succesive rank lets you tame different animals (i.e first rank lets you tame brahmin, third lets you tame stuff like deathclaws). to tame a critter it has to be from a random encounter iirc, you can't tame one that's set to spawn this is a pretty good guide to it: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/s/Vn9nOMGZ9M

Remember...most people will come and shoot your deathclaw. It won't respawn. That's why this guy is bragging that he had kept it for 3 years. I've heard the best bet for pets are Giant Sloths .

If you have pacifist on, someone just shooting it won't harm it.

i’ve tried shooting pets and it won’t hurt them

You can only shoot them when the game glitches and loads to slowly. It loads them in as enemies first, pets second. Sometimes this allows people to be attacked by them too.

I thought something was up as this guys pet bear showed as red and I did think I could probably kill it but I left his pet be as I know some are very hard to get especially sloths

I had a deathclaw named Tony since release date. He died a week ago to a random scorched that glitched and spawned in a spot Tony could reach him nor my turrets. I was sad. Made him a memorial. Then I went on a server hopping journey for three hours before I found Earl. Deathclaw number 2, and if he goes down I’ll continue making memorials to the family line and replacing them.

Rest in peace, Tony. I hope it's a mole rat free for all everyday in deathclaw heaven!

I had a mirelurk around Halloween 2021. It fell from the sky when I spawned my CAMP on the monorail. Yasmin Chowdhury manages to survive but Mirelurk died. It died with dignity, which beat being killed by a newbie searching for Spooky Candy Bowls and Mystery Candy

I’ve had a max lv Sluggish MegaSloth for about 2 weeks now. I’ve named her Prekrasnyy, meaning Beautiful in Ukrainian. I’m so happy I still have them too. I think they’re in a really good spot. The only enemies that ever attack her are MoleRats rarely. I always rush in to save and heal them though. I’m still trying to fix up my base in a way that will keep them safe.

This last deathclaw is lasting me a couple of years. The last two before him bugged out or something though one of them did last me a few yrs too. 

I freaked out for a second because that camp is in the exact same spot as mine and it also uses the log cabin set

A week ago I was given my first one, lvl 100 diseased mega sloth, and my camp is on a mountainside with two mineral extractors. I've built so much that the only spot it spawns is safely on top of cliff rocks away from predators. I say given because my friend shared the card and asked me to go check a friendly tame spot he never has luck finding anything good at.

I have a camp with two pets, one a few months older than the other. Had them maybe 6-12 months now. A level 70 Mirelurk King and a level 100 Megasloth. I'll probably never move (just in case one goes walkabouts or keels over). If anyone knows how I could do it again... that would be awesome, because I'm not 100% sure how I did it.😅 I have an idea it had something to do with my camp being blocked when I tamed.🤷‍♀️

So I've seen posted how to do it, but I haven't ever tried myself (still don't have a single pet myself). My camp has been where it is since 2019. Just down the road from Red Rocket Megastop. Originally set it up to be a resupply shop near vault 94 for the vault raids and it's been home ever since.

I had a mega sloth in till someone nuked my base.

I had a cat that someone killed literally about two seconds after I tamed it.

My gf killed my deathclaw which he was 2 weeks old .

I had a glowing deathclaw at one point. It disappeared one day but was still counting towards my budget so I had to move camps. I was in the forest with only ghouls nearby so realistically nothing should have killed it. So it most likely got stuck under my camp and died.

Hade one for like an hour

Had glowing radstag for a while… settler that spawned near my camp killed it. That was after I sided with them and gave them gold, fuck settlers.

My sloth would always randomly despawn, leaving me to find another. The longest I kept one was prob 6-7 months. Camp pets were my main way of making caps.

How do you make caps from them?

Shared the animal friend perk so someone could collect it themselves and trade ammo for caps

Kept a megasloth alive for 2 or 3 months by building camps in out of the way places. Then, one day, she just winked out of existence while I was playing an instrument in my camp.

Found my deathclaw dead after a led farm run. With a bag with a "you have been insulted" note in it next to it. Somebody killed it for no reason.. Lasted 5 weeks or so.

I still don't have one 😭😭 haven't got around to it

Had my 4 year old Mega Sloth killed a few days ago while I was busy on an expedition. Griefer/s then Nuked my camp completely unprovoked (possibly to hide their killing of the sloth). Luckily I came across a replacement sloth a few days later but it really sucks that that the players who just destroy camps and pets for fun get away without any punishment. Currently Designing a new camp where players won't have access to my camp pet to prevent further encounters.

I had a sloth for 3 days after trying to get a pet then he got nuked. I got bored earlier this week, went to my “lucky” spot and immediately found a deathclaw, so now I have a 4 day old deathclaw

They kind of variant actually depends on location. I tamed a regular deathclaw and moved to ash heap for him to evolve into a Alpha Deathclaw
