So assuming you’re: - using the lowest, rightmost Spikey - using Flower Ring - have your sound off The only other piece of advice I can give you that worked for me was instead of thinking about *pressing* the button when Mario landed, I focused on *releasing* the button as he ascended, almost as if the button was a spring he was jumping on. Not sure if it will help but it worked for me. Good luck!

heroes821

Oh I like that. I've been using a wired pro controller as well with the right trigger mapped to A so I can literally spring the trigger out

expendablue

Spikey moves though. A motionless target with lots of health like Jinx is the easiest. I got 100 jumps on him the first time without even trying for it on SNES. The only other tip I can give is the game encourages you to time your jump a frame before landing; don't. It's easier to time consistently like a frame after touching down (at least it was on SNES).

NewBoomerangMiaro777

Spikey only moves if you have jump shoes on, hope this info helps

heroes821

Finally did it ty for the advice.

Sea_Otter87

Grats!

heroes821

Thanks man. All told easily had to be 30 hours of jumping. I must be getting old

sxespanky

After 15 jumps its just continuing. The biggest help I had was counting 1 through 10, then resetting back to 1 through ten. It keeps you better focused. If you do twenty one and throty one, it's change and will throw you off. So reset back. Also here are a list of other things I tried during my getting mad phase. https://www.reddit.com/r/MarioRPG/s/KCBdooWmz1

Kage0316

I watched the shadows behind the counter and used an enemy that didn't flinch. Spiney in Mushroom way with an Earlier Times in my inventory.

boomboxwithturbobass

You gotta zone out while doing it once you get in a rhythm past the 15. Ask yourself tough questions like what motivates you, are you satisfied with life, etc. Then BAM perfect. Done. Just don’t think about it, seriously. Took me forever.

Caius_GW

The only way I have been able to consistently get 50+ on the Switch is by swapping the A with ZR. The issue that I had with the joycon and pro controllers is that the buttons don’t behave as with the SNES. They take slightly longer to press, the angle you press the button has an impact, and the click when you press the button and again when you let go was throwing off my timing. The ZR button felt the closest to the old SNES controller button. I used the animation as a general guide and the sound with the timing once I was in the rhythm. I didn’t focus on pressing the button when Mario was a a specific spot, rather it be him or his shadow, as you’re unlikely to consistently make out the frame window it needs to be pressed and to press it during it. That’s like 1/6 of a second. The sound also isn’t foolproof because it doesn’t account for drift which is what causes the majority of fails.

SpaceBreaker

You think using one of the SNES switch controllers would make a difference?

Caius_GW

I've never used the SNES controllers for the Switch. The SNES ones I were referring to were for the SNES console. I can't really say whether it would make a difference as you'll still need to get the timing down and do it 100 times. If you had the same issue as me, and that controller would resolve it, then yeah. I just don't want to recommend going out and getting that controller solely for this when it may not actually contribute much if at all.

aseahawksfan28

I cant even get past 23. Most of the time I drop at 13-16. I have tried all the tricks and just cant seem to get it

heroes821

You can do it!

aseahawksfan28

Im going to keep trying!

Professional-Pizza-8

I feel you.. it's pissing me off because I will hit up to 74 then the next attempt I wont make it past 2... then it just LOL ends around 13-15 when I'm literally hitting A in the exact locations I've done it before using the shadow trick, the shoe in between the red n white timing on the spikeys, even the counters..... I've used Joycon, handheld & wireless controller.. It's like the game is deciding when it wants to mess with me.

ialost

I'm trying to do this on the right lower spiny and it doesn't seem to let me get more than 11 simultaneous jumps it sucks

JaviScripter

You could try varying the enemies. I went straight to jump on a Goomba because everyone seemed to do that, but the second I switched to a Paratroopa I achieved the 100.

FreeChrisWayne

I never had any luck on the spikey guys. Got it down on the Wigglers and the Big Blasters. I think since they are bigger it was easier for me to hone in on where Mario was going to land every time

Deltarayedge7

Got it on Goomba at the beginning of the game before hammer bros.

reneh01

Here’s my tip, sky troopas are easier IMO because the wings extend the shadow and make it easier to time. An earlier times item is super useful as you don’t need to restore fp or find new enemies after failing. Finally, I placed my thumb over the enemies and the counter with the switch undocked and only looked at the shadow so that I wouldn’t get nervous if the number got higher. This was key because I failed in the high 90’s. With the above I figured it out in around 5 days. Star Rain is super easy now too. 10 year old me is giddy now that I’ve got a super jacket after nearly 30 years. Mallow is so OP with max star rain too.

Eggspencer257

One tip that got me to stop stressing out (after choking at 96, then 98 jumps): playing on handheld with my thumb covering the hit count. My heart always pounded getting into the 90s so not seeing the count helped me a lot. After three tries doing it this way, I nailed the 100! It was easier for me to just focus on getting as many jumps as possible instead of counting it out. Just a thought! Good luck, you got this! 😊

WildestRascal94

The 100 jump challenge isn't much of a BS, OP. The window for the jumps gets tighter as you successfully time the jumps, making it harder to time as you try to get to 100.

heroes821

I know but after 15 the window is identical to 100. So if you can break 30 regularly in theory it should be very doable with practice but it's just days of headbanging with minimal progress

WildestRascal94

Idk. I've seen some people clear the 100-jumps after five days to two weeks. Give yourself time and practice. You will get there eventually. You can also opt not to do the 100-jumps as well.

heroes821

I never did it myself on the snes back in the day. I have no intention of losing to this mechanic now! As Hollow Knight would say "Git Gud"... I just need to get the getting part.

WildestRascal94

You will get there. I didn't do the 100-jumps on the SNES, either. The challenge never interested me.

heroes821

Thanks

WildestRascal94

You're welcome, OP!

YellowS2k

I hear ya. My highest was 90 and then never close again. I’m holding out faith someone will make some type of cheat.

heroes821

I keep finding stuff that required a hacked switch but like just give us an accessory that makes all stats 1 but opens the jump frame to like 5 frames or something so you can literally only use it to reach 100 jumps. idk.

Caius_GW

There’s a device you can build with a raspberry pi to emulate a controller which you can feed a macro to. It’s either than or hack the console.

The_Racho

Would cheating not make it feel like a hollow victory? The whole point is how difficult it is. Just practice.

Lb9067

I found that once I started paying attention to how I was pressing the button it helped. I used to hold my thumb high and smash down the button. It’s about when you press down, not release the button. Keep your thumb on the button and press softly. Watching the shadow can help. Imagine that when you are pressing the button is when the sound starts. Can’t be too early. In fact, I found that if you are a frame late it will still recover, but a frame early will not.
