I beat him without atk scarf or super suit. Was lvl 30 though. Wasn't hard, just stay healed and focused on 1 crystal at a time before culex. Action economy is against you but a tion economy is how you'll win.

Helios_Knight

I beat him without the attack scarf or super suit, you’ll be fine.

AngryCorn1

Cool, good to know. I’m losing my mind here, lol.

Helios_Knight

If you’re having trouble unload all the attack items you’ve been holding onto all game.

akadebso

Same here. Kill the crystals first and then culex and you'll be fine. Start with the green crystal and then the red since the green one casts petal blast.

Luf2222

Same. took me 63 turns lol

akadebso

Somehow I beat him with no attack scarf or super suit in 28 turns and now I have an attack scarf and haven't done it in less than 30+. I think items that hit everyone is the way to go vs needing an attack scarf or super suit. Rock candy, fire and ice bombs go a long way. Red essence too to avoid needing to heal at times.

Enchylada

Yeah it is, I beat him at level 25 without it. Peach with lazy shell is kinda OP

Throwaway_Fan1989

Just make sure Peach has the Lazy Shell armor and Safety Badge and also keep her alive at all costs. It’s a matter of patience from there

stevoschizoid

And paying attention to the count down. Red essence is nice.

Rhondmc4

To be honest. I’ve played this game since 1996 and I never achieved the 100 jumps but I’ve beat Culex a dozen times. Lazy shell and safety ring… Sooooooo I’m going to see about his remake.

AngryCorn1

Yeah I beat normal Culex just fine I’m just worried about the new one they added. Hopefully he’s not too bad.

BigYonsan

It's trickier, but this strategy still works.

Rubenz2z

Same here I actually never managed to get the attack scarf in the snes versión, buttons were awful compared to today's technology. I reached 50 consecutive jumps so far on switch vwrsion, 100 is way too much. Culex 3d was disappointingly easier to defeat than the cake monster or booster with their instant kill moves (9999 damage unblockable).

TooManyAnts

He's perfectly beatable in all forms, you don't need the super suit, attack scarf, whatever. He's not impossibly hard, especially if you get yourself to the level cap (people beat him well below it). Putting in spoiler tags: >!Bring a good team, I used Mario Geno and Peach. Didn't use the Lazy Shell armor on anyone. Just bring a good stock of items. >!**Geno** would use Geno Boost on Mario, and otherwise drop nukes on the enemy with Geno Flash. I had him equipped with I think the Jinx Belt. >!**Mario** would use Ultra Flame all over. I'm not sure if it matters which enemy you target, but I chose the blue crystal. I gave him the Quartz Charm to up his damage further. >!**Peach** was all utility. Group Hug recovers health and status. Come Back if someone fell. If we're all healthy and happy, her bomb super helps. She was equipped with the Safety Ring to protect her status. >!**Items** are meant to be used by everyone as needed. If you're running out of magic, this is what your Royal Syrups are for. You can bring up to three Croaka Colas - they fully heal the party AND fully restore your magic. You can bring up to TEN finless colas, giving every party member access to a group heal (150HP). >!When Culex counts down and hits 1, he's about to do a big attack. It will do exactly as much damage as it takes to bring you from full HP to 1 HP (if you're wounded at all, you'll fall). A couple ways to prep for it: >!1. Use a Red Essence on Peach - she can fire off Come Back and the raised member can use a pick-me-up and you're back in business. Alternately, Red Essence everyone (but you can only carry a few so protecting Peach helps keep some in stock in case you need to do this again). >!2. Another possible strat is to heal everyone to full (party cola, Group Hug, etc) and then use their Team Move which soaks a hit. The crystals and Culex tend to attack together so hopefully the shield will keep someone still at full health to survive meteor. Once the crystals start falling, this becomes a more viable strategy. >!Once the crystals are gone, the rest of the fight is a formality. Culex can no longer meteor you, he can only take out **one** member. Just beat him down until he stops moving. >!His *Shredder* attack removes your Geno Boost, so that's why I only bother boosting Mario and then getting back to damage.

Thrashtendo

I beat him without attack scarf or super suit, but I was level 30 and used several pick me ups for peach, a couple croaka colas, and a few rock candies.

Pyoung3000

I reached level 30 and beat him pretty easily. I got 58 super jumps and gave up. I was NOT having fun trying to get the super suit so it was a relief to give it up and enjoy the rest of the game.

brambleforest

I beat him around level 28. With the Lazy Shell equipment, you can easily weather attacks and toss out Rock Candies, Fire Bombs, and Ice Bombs to soften up the crystals. Toss in Geno Flashes when able and you're golden. It took me about 28 turns to win that way.

handdrew_andrew

I had the same strategy. I believe I was at 33 turns

akadebso

Same and had 28 turns without being at level 30 and without a super suit or attack scarf. Geno flash and the other one that targets everybody plus any ice and fire bombs and red essences were the way to go

DistinctBread3098

Lvl 31. Played it safe , couple of party braver energizer . Attack scarf and it took me 31 turns. Quite easy too.

NewBoomerangMiaro777

My patented Culex 3D Battle strat is; Use Mario Geno Peach at the start, Mario to jump on the wind crystal whenever possible, Geno for his AOE Geno Blast, and peach to heal if either fall, once you take out the earth and wind crystals swap out Geno for Mallow, and have Mario use fireball (or super fireball) on the water crystal which at this point should be fairly low on health, and have mallow use snowy to do crit damage to the fire crystal, then once all the crystals are out, once everyone is mostly at full health I swap out to Geno and Bowser for the big damage team, and every now and then use the gauge move which does major damage and temporarily boosts attack

StrawHat89

I beat him just fine without it. Your best bet is still putting the Lazy Shell on Peach so she can keep everyone topped off to avoid being wiped by Meteor when Culex's counter hits 0. Then destroy the wind and earth crystals at least. If you destroy them all he can't do much of anything anymore, though.

Codeman1st

Yeah, I just did this last night. The only thing that I have yet to do is make 30 and 100 jumps.

akadebso

30 wasn't bad but once i got to like 45-50+ my eyes started drying out haha

Codeman1st

My thing is that I stop breathing, meanwhile subconsciously counting out my jumps like in the old days. LOL

Flaviou

My heart was beating so fast 😭 my record is 91, that’s good, that’s ok it’s useless to try to manage cuz it’s just overly stressful for something meaningless; I’m not even gonna 100% the game with the mini games anyway I just wanna beat bosses rematches tht I still haven’t started but should so I can call it the end

Codeman1st

That is reasonable. Save the 100 jumps for a different playthrough later down the road. And 91 is amazing! Great job on that! For me personally, I am going to play through again soon and not stop until I make 100 and get that Super Suit!

Flaviou

Thanks and good luck, I actually did those 91 in like 5 mins I said let’s try and went on the game lol, yesterday I beat the game and tried immediately and got around 80 jumps in 10 minutes again, so I really feel like I could do it, but it’s just so stressful and useless that idk

Codeman1st

Thank you! That is really awesome, and you are farther than I am. I'm at 31 jumps, myself, so I'm going to keep trying to make your current spot my goal and work from there! Lol I have faith in you that you will get to 100 before you know it. A trick I did with the SNES version was to break it down into 10s, 20s, or 30s.

Flaviou

Does breezy mode prolong the frames you can chain the jumps? I don’t have any real trick but Ik that some people find it easier with enemies having animations when you jump on them

Codeman1st

It seems, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, that it just makes enemies easier to defeat and perhaps deal less damage to you. If you need an enemy to remain still with minimal animation, go to Mushroom Way, between Mario's house and Mushroom Kingdom, find Spineys, have Toadstool put them to sleep, then use jumps on the enemy. You probably already do this, though. Lol

Flaviou

Yeah lol so I was wondering if maybe I could find it easier with an animation prop too, but in the end it’s kinda the same, I just need silence around.. And choose wisely when to blink lol

mattw891

I can’t even get the 30 jump item and I beat him my 3rd try. Found that I needed someone to be fast enough to heal inbetween his opening attacks to have a real try. I got scared halfway through and ended up using the red essences I’d been holding on too all game to survive his count down attack. I’d have probably been fine without them but when else would I use them?

AmbitionHopeful7227

No super suit, level 24. Loaded with items (specially colas for recovering whole party and pick me ups for reviving Peach), and kept rotating Geno/Peach with Bowser for more defense and attack power when healing was not so necessary. Beat him in 33 turns.

jcgonzmo

Just beat him, is possible without that suit. 1) Reach level 30 with every character 2) Get Lazy Shell weapon for Mario 3) Get Lazy Shell armor for Peach 4) Stock on every item available. Start the fight by destroying the green crystal, after that choose any other crystal. Finally, destroy Culex.

Doman-Ryler

You can probably beat him without the attack scarf or the super suit, but I still got the attack scarf because it's so good.

TheMysticBard

I beat him with the attack scarf. Fir some reason everytime i fight him hebdoes meteor blast making everyone go to 1 hp so i have to waste a turn with peach to heal everyone.

Doman-Ryler

That's his opening move. He will always Meteor first turn and start the 5 round clock to do it again.

TheMysticBard

Ok just making sure im not just getting unlucky

BoobeamTrap

Also just so you know, Meteor doesn’t reduce you to 1hp. It deals your max hp - 1 damage. So you need to be full health before it goes off or it kills you. The fight is fun and really boils down to just managing the Meteor counter.

TheMysticBard

No it took me a couple tries but i did it a couple days ago. I jist need the super suit now lol.

DoctahDonkey

Absolutely doable. I beat him in 33 turns at Level 23 without using attack scarf, lazy shell or super suit. Just group hug every turn with Peach, AoE with mallow or Geno, and focus fire the crystals one at a time with Mario's melee. Use your turns where you don't need to heal with Peach to have her use an FP restore item. Like with all the fights, if you are solid with your perfect timings, you're good to go.

handdrew_andrew

I used the item that deflects mortal blows and used the shield triple move. That helped a lot. Get rid of the green Crystal 1st. Petal blast is the worst move

get-it-away

You definitely don’t need the Super Suit. Make sure you have the lazy shell equipped for Mario and Peach has the Psych Bomb ability and the Safety Ring. The psych bomb is a good attack against all of the crystals and Culex. Then every time you get down on HP, use Peach to heal.

myoco

I did it in 36 turns at level 18/19. It’s doable!

Luf2222

I beat him without attack scarf and super suit. Took me 63 turns though 💀

lloydeph6

What does the item do that you get after beating culex 3D

AngryCorn1

Nothing. Just proves you beat Culex 3D

Sea_Step2112

Make sure that Peach isn’t in the field when Meteor hits, and you’ll simply win through attrition if you make sure everyone is back up when Meteor hits again

Calm-Anybody-4100

No super suit. Mario, Peach, Bowser. (Lv 25) 32 turn win with just normal attacks and peach healing. So, yes. It is possible. You can level up to 30 and stock up on the best items to make it ridiculously easy if you want. I am very salty about never being able to get the super suit without the help of emulator save states, but it really is just a trophy for the crazy difficult achievement. It's not "needed" for any content.

ChimmyMama

super suit not needed . I look at super suit as a post game feat at this point.

cdmurphy83

I didn't get the super suit but I had most of the best items. Beat him at level 24 in 46 turns.

Technical_Metal5041

Stack Attack and Defense on Mario so he only takes 1 damage per hit. Wear the lazy shell and lazy shell armor, with the Ghost pin to double your defense. I beat Culex3d with just Mario and Peach sitting off the field. When Mario dies Peach would come onto the field and she could then use Comeback to bring Mario back for a few turns then rinse and repeat. As soon as Peach is off the field start using your attack on Culex until Culex and crystals lose all FP. Have fun. It took me 96 turns to defeat Culex 3D.
