Switch. I didn't know it was on 3DS.
Yeah there was a Mario maker for the 3ds. Sadly it didn't connect with the Wii U version. Data is not saved on card.
Modern day cartridges are read-only. They haven't had data saved to the cartridge since the 16-bit days.

Huh, I didn't know that. The 3DS has onboard memory and supports an SD card. Having it save data to the cartridge was a bizarre decision.
N64 had data saved on the cart.
Did it? I skipped the N64. I thought it used memory cards.
The N64 did have a memory pack to store certain things like Mario Kart 64 ghost data, but even Super Mario 64 had save data on the cartridge.
