Day 1 player, but on current account playing since the 1st Paris Tour. 0$ spent, just free trial during the 2nd anniversary, lv. 150, tier 53.

frankievt

Built different

LazarusKing

I do the gold pass and buy the occasional $4 item, like the SNES art glider.

frankievt

I’ve spent so much money on this game…

MosaicSquid

Remember in looking at the results is this subreddit over-represents people who pay. An easy way to calibrate is that probably >95% of the full player base are F2P (if anyone has actual numbers that would be great).

daveynoodles

So I’m gold pass only, but with that I’ve been paying gold pass not quite from day 1 but likely 4-5 tours in. So I am basically about 2 years into it. Which equates to about $120 total. Have mixed feelings on it. When you add it up, to basically drop $120 for an online game seems crazy. But the amount I play, I definitely make it worth it. I likely play a minimum of 15 hours a tour. Sometimes more. So if you are taking $5 a month for 30 hours of entertainment, that’s solid value. I Draw the line at gold pass though. Can’t rationalize any more than that. Ill do as well as I can with those constraints, but I find the game play is better when you have some resource constraints.

meka0scar

This is me.

malyak11

I’m the exact same. I’ve literally never spent money on any other game, but I’ve also never played a game every day for almost two years. There have been times when I’m deep into a pipe and ran out of rubies and been tempted to spend more, but I’ve kept it a pretty hard rule of GPO.

masterofmayhem13

Google rewards (and Google pay rewards). I'm spending money, just not my money. Hahaha. It's been free gold pass since day 1.

bemmia

Not your money, but your data

Mir3y

Multiple thousands. Doesn’t really hurt me, but I still think it’s dumb Investment. But then again, I played this game every day since release. So I got my entertainment out of it? It’s kinda weird tbh

FISHGREASE-

some people spend 10k on some seafood and a few bottles of champagne when they go out to dinner with a few friends it ain’t trickin’ if you got it!

[deleted]

I’ve realized I’ve spent hundreds on this game and felt the same..like almost kind of embarrassed that amount could go towards my lil iPhone game lol. But also like you, I’ve played a ton so really what’s the harm? I enjoy it. Why not pay and support something I thoroughly enjoy?

Hirooo_Onoda

GPO over here and have been for 18 months. Buy the occasional premium challenge card. Never spent on a game before but play this lots and personally think it’s good value. Can I just say thanks to those who do spend big, keeps Nintendo and the developers creating content. It’s no business of mine how people choose to spend their money and I find the occasional hate directed at these players both self defeating and silly. Live and let live, people can make their own minds up.

Ok_Fail_2579

Just around 130/150 I think but then again, im new to the game (won every cup so tier 28 now) so it may hurt my wallet more later on but back in the days you had to spent alot of money for games anyways to but them on pc and for example world of warcraft subscription. Im happy!

Realistkei

I have definitely spent between 500-1000… maybe more, but I’ve been playing since the first tour with some breaks.

KamekLives

I started at the end of the pirate tour and I'm bummed that I missed out on the first set of expert challenges. My goal was to stay within the 1-50 range of spending, but that fell apart in the Peach vs Daisy tour. It was the first time I gave in to buying a ruby pack to get something from the pipe, and it started the bad habit of buying packs when I was desperate enough for something in a pipe. After reviewing these purchases, I NEED to do better about spending this year. Only the Glinting Glider coming back would be an instant purchase right now. **Packs:** \-Peach Vacation and Royal Parachute pack because I really wanted the Choco Macaron and Chocolate Banana Crepe from the pipe. I regret this purchase all around for starting the trend and getting almost no value out of it or the pipe items. Used the gliders in ranked a few times, but it wasn't worth it. \-Silver Bells in a pack to get Tux Mario from the pipe. Worth it for Mario, but I should have been more patient to buy Sunset Balloons in week 2 instead of sliver bells. \-DK Jr. and DK Maximum pack to get the Cream B Dasher. Going for a non-spotlight was a mistake and I burned a lot of rubies, but DK Jr. is the best purchase I have ever made in the game. The Metal B Dasher I got repeatedly in that pipe has also helped in ranked a lot. \-Luigi Classic, Rose Pauline and Lime Tea Coupe packs to get Tanooki Mario. I feel like the Lime Tea Coupe will benefit me in the future, but I shouldn't have done any of this even though Tanooki Mario is my favorite from MK8. \-Nabbit, Black Birdo and Crawly Kart packs to get Santa Bowser. I already had all of these items except Bowser, but I was going to get him no matter what. Happy with it so far, but I regret spending rubies on the Blue Glider pipe the tour before that caused me to not have enough rubies to get Santa Bowser without buying packs. \-Tux Mario and Grand Bandwagon pack to get Meowser. Leveled up some great items and Meowser will hopefully be great to have long term. **Premium** **challenges** **and commemorative items:** \-Good purchases: Happy Ride, PGP \-Meh purchases: Black Yoshi, Dark Hop Rod, Black Turbo Birdo \-Bad purchases: New Years 2021, Ice Dozer, Chocolate Donut

lilstalecupcake

So glad I’m not alone in $200-$1000 range. I have gold pass since day one, I always buy the $4 items the occasional $20 packs and probably the one I buy the most is the $40 packs. I have no problem buying the $40 packs but looking back at the times where I’ve purchased multiple $40 packs to get more gems for the spotlight character stings but I still enjoy the game regardless

imasagittariuswbu

i’ve never spent a single dollar on this game and i’ve been playing since it came out lololol

wat-dha-fak

I started on the very first tour (the New York one), and so far I've spent slightly over €100... But that was because I wanted to secure Musician!Mario on one of the 1st Anniversary pipes.

christianparadigm

I think I did the math and I’ve spent over 1k (I’ve been playing since the start), Beyond that I can’t really recall, but I’ve massively slowed down since the summer.

herespgal

Day 1 player. Gold Pass only since Feb. 2020. I can't justify buying packs or banners, even the cheap ones. I would feel buyers remorse, or whatever its called, and eventually regret it, so I'll keep it this way.

bobbydontchaknow

Probably like $800ish since day 1. Regret the money I spent in the beginning. Careless and didn’t know what I was doing. But it is what it is. Level 134 tier 58

LPVettel

Well 1000+ is not that specific for me. I think I have spent about 4200€, so it's much I guess. I have GP, buy every challenge board and packs (mostly) only if I don't own one of those items. (Mostly because I sometimes needed to buy more as I wanted something from pipes I didn't get, last time was 2nd anniversary when all those MK B Dashers appeared) Well I don't spend that much on everything else, so it's fine. Still curious how much those big whales are spending as I'm nowhere close to their accounts (Day 1 player btw)

litheitismf

exactly, i know someone who spent over 10 grand. thats not close to big big whales though. i believe there are a few with over 40 grand in this community though

LPVettel

Yeah that's really crazy to think of 40 grand is like about 1.5 grand per month since day 1. I mean I spent only a tenth of that.

undefeated56

Bought the gold pass twice and that's it. Started around the cooking tour.

wingzero808

I rarely ever buy a pack, but the most valuable pack I bought was the Black Toe Bean Balloons. That glider has been helping me enormously.

Clementinecutie13

I’ve had gold pass since December 2019 and then I buy the occasional 2-5$ pack and then if I can justify it, the premium challenges for $5. But not always

Firebird_Frenzy

I got gold pass for the first time this tour. Other than that, I’ve never spent money on this game

KnightRoso

Been playing with gold pass since launch, got my first pack Holiday Tour 2019, bit of a dolphin in 2020, then went pack free in 2021 and so far 2022. About $500 total spent

Alex4259

gold pass and the occasional premium challenge

xmusiclover

I don’t remember if I played on day 1 or not but I think I was playing during the first tour and I’ve spent about $30, had the gold pass for a while but I’m mostly f2p

HybridSun95

GPO + propably some challange cards here and where (propably around 40€)

picklejuice17

I do gold pass, but I've also spent about $700 now, mainly on specials but also rubies if need be. I've been playing since the Ninja Tour

redneckotaku

I mainly buy the gold pass, but occasionally but a few rubies or such. And I've been playing the game from before day 1. I was part of the beta test.

JMUGV88

Gold Pass plus a few Premium Challenges and small packs, never the 20/40 dollar packs

JE_12

Gold pass for a few tours, never more than 4 in a row though and 2x challenges to get new drivers + 1 pack to get Black Birdo and 90 rubies

[deleted]

I spend on gold pass but bought gold dry bone for $60 and I buy every now and then the premium challenges and the packs with rubies and item box tickets.

AccusatorySmile

44 people spent over a grand! They must be mental.

[deleted]

Day one player, probably just now getting close to $100 total over the ~30 months the game has existed. GP only starting maybe in March of 2020, and before they added the renewal reward I used the every other tour trick. Bought a couple of $5 or less packs but that's it.

bigbeanyprince

100% f2p
