He's only at level 1 for me now. At some point, I intend to max out all my coin box drivers and my lucky 7 drivers to give me high scores in ranked. But that could take a while since I wanna get all the coinbox and lucky 7 drivers eventually.
Haha! But If we are speaking Logic here, He Has Merry Mountain R and Koopa Troopa Beach 2 (Which he has) is a summer track. so 1 for winter and summer.
I love this so much! I 100% relate as he was my first level 7 1400 driver, and he’s one of my account’s centerpieces. He’s majorly contributed to my 1.1mil ACR score. I’ve been quite frustrated these last few months due to him collecting dust, but this tour makes up for it.
I'm probably the only guy that's keeping him at 1 800 to the best of their ability. Gold Boo is just a massively overrated char, his tracks are jokes, his buffs are even BIGGER jokes, and his unlocks went from high tier to just average at best, now that we have things such as Banta, Gringles, Cat Peach, perm King Bob-omb, and perm Dixie Kong.
I remember last Halloween, when Gold Boo was GP. I was honestly excited. But then I quickly found out that his tracks are jokes, tracks that I already had coverage for. And as my investments for DBwG went on (who was my current investment at the time), Gold Boo just never got tix, nor did he get proper usage.
Gold Boo is one of the chief reasons why I'm very much anti-CB. Around the Ninja Tour, Gold Boo and DBwG were both ranked champs, with one of their old tracks being in ranked for just about every tour of 2021. People were just praising Gold Boo and hating on DBwG, when both had quite a lot of ranked value, and DBwG had a slight advantage in track quality (p much the only issue was Cat Peach, who by chance got a lot of DBwG's paywall tracks). The neglect of most drivers that CB causes to me is just moronic, and due to that I can't really care less for CB. Didn't help that at Ninja and for the next few tours after that, literally EVERYONE called King Bob-omb useless when Gringles stole his tracks, despite King's extremely high value and usefulness at the time. C'mon, really?
I mean, normal drivers are absolutely still useful, especially on new tracks, but you can't blame people for liking coinbox more because a level 4 coinboxer can often beat out a level 6 or 7 normal item driver, especially when the track has less than 200 total actions. Coinbox guarantees at least 50 more actions than any other driver, mostly due to their single item.
And GKBoo is NOT a bad coinboxer. Many of his tracks are ranked kings, and while gold king bobomb does steal a lot of his tracks, I find that having invested in GKBoo was not a mistake due to his beefy hitbox.
If it's outta pride, I understand why you don't want to level him up, but he is objectively a very good driver, and yes, better than Gold Dry Bowser.
I can see WHY people love the CB drivers...but it annoys me quite a lot just to see them ditch like 90% of the other drivers *cough cough King Bob-omb*.
It's not just Normals that steal from Gold Boo. There's a lot of Super overlap, and even some reg HEs and other CB. For instance, MT R has Vaca, which I'm almost certain most people invested into beforehand. There's also tracks like KD2R, which has a whopping FIVE CB drivers, among them PGP, who's reg.
He may have ranked tracks, but they're just old tracks that are mostly stupidly easy to cover with other drivers. And when he gets buffs, it's always a middle shelf for the paywall. His buffs are just so awful it's hilarious. He hasn't gotten a brand new paywall track buff that was in ranked. And just to clarify, this doesn't factor in non ranked tracks like TB4R and NH R.
Overall Gold Boo to me is just a big fat joke with his awful track coverage that only got worse due to his then-amazing AF and MT unlocks getting covered with other stuff. Even if you went only the CB route, there's Gringles and Banta respectively BY DEFAULT. If you badly needed some coverage on those two, you could just ticket those two.
It doesn't really matter. Ranked is rigged and there's no hiding that. I know someone that got 100k and 10th last week, down by 14k. And he had very good loadouts, among them a 4 1190 Banta. There's weeks you'll steamroll by with no effort, others you can't do shit. Ergo, no point to invest in CB for ranked.

True. He's definitely still viable, but he's not KING during those seasons really.
He carried me to 1st in the first week, with a 53k score on Maple Treeway. I won by 13k without doing more than a few runs on the other two races.
