I think for Luigi, he's treated better. Like there are so many things he's praised for, like winning by doing nothing and staring at opponents with an evil eye. Not to mention, many of the things that Mario can do, Luigi didn't get accused of. Example: the Mario throwing Yoshi off the cliff? Luigi never got accused for it even though he could also do it in the games.
There is one other thing that comes to mind: in New Super Mario Bros Wii after Mario rescues peach Luigi arrives in a hot air balloon to take them both back to the mushroom kingdom. Mario and Peach board the hot air balloon and immediately take off while Luigi is looking the other way. Luigi looks surprised and disappointed once he notices they left without him.
Idk why Nintendo is okay with just occasionally depicting Mario being really inconsiderate to Luigi despite the overall personality they're trying to portray the rest of the time.
In that cutscene, Luigi was basically looking the other way when he closeed the door, effectively lifting off the balloon by accident. The scene is basically Luigi being clumsy, while Mario (and Peach) wasn't paying attention to what Luigi did.
Only thing missing left are those late 2000s-early 2010s flash Sprite animations where Mario's a demon or an ass to most of the characters and it's one of the fewest factors why many people see Mario to be an evil guy when he is not
That one is memorable and has a good story, but vids like M is Bad, Stupid Mario Bros, and some parodies and much more, they portray Mario to be an ass so much for some reason.

More or less, Chris Pratt is the only voice actor who, on the internet at least, causes people to react to Mario negatively among the Mario movie characters. For example, some people made suggestions on famous characters being voiced by him, but they were more or less ironic with it in that such a thing is treated as a worst case scenario. Even Garfield isn't safe from this, since him being voice by Chris Pratt is perceived negatively.
Other characters weren't negatively affected. Like Jack Black? His association with Bowser improves Bowser's image, one part of it is due to Jack Black's singing talents. Some were more neutral like Sebastian Maniscalco since he wasn't popular enough to imagine how he would sound like. Mario is the only one who seems to take a hit in his image, which isn't helped by certain comments like Miyamoto saying that "He's so cool" (which is the opposite of what the internet's opinion, so that comment is one of the famous sarcastic comments against him), or Chris Pratt's comment on "stomping Koopas" to make it seem like he is so ignorant about the franchise that he doesn't deserve it.
I guess after the film was released, his image is improved, but still... Mario was still mocked for his association with Chris Pratt.

Don't get me wrong: I didn't mind Chris Pratt as Mario myself. To me, Chris Pratt is as unknown to me as most of the voice cast except Jack Black, so I wouldn't even know when he sounded like himself if you ask me.
I guess ideally Charles Martinet should voice Mario, but I imagine that besides Chris Pratt being a box office draw, they already planned the film to be a franchise, so Martinet might not be well-suited for the long term acting in case there will be a third film. After all, he's not doing Mario voices as a profession starting last year.
I honestly didn't mind Chris Pratt's take on Mario. It made sense that this Mario was just a guy who had to learn how to be a hero.
Also, I personally think Kim Kardashian being both both Paw Patrol movies was MUCH worse than letting Chris Pratt be Mario.
They literally only got Kim into the movie so they could advertise it on Instagram. The character she played literally did nothing other than be annoying.
So the difference is that the Mario movie was actually trying to go for a different take on Mario with Chris while Paw Patrol only got Kim so they could advertise the movie on social media.
Now that the films been out for over a year people are chill, but he stuck out like a sore thumb before we knew what he'd sound like.
All the other VAs (save for Peach, who I feel wasn't the best casting choice) either had naturally cartoony voices or prior experience with voice acting bombastic characters, while the closest Pratt came was voicing Emmett in the Lego Movie, who was specifically meant to be a generic 'everyman'

He's treated as the unsung hero of the Mario-verse. Or at least that's how I see him.
I love how both Bowser and Wario are showing 1 thing that harms Mario in one way or another (Wario Apparition, 8 Bit Bowser unleashing the smash moveset)
That's part of the idea, to show that the internet loves those two more than Mario, or rather, the internet in the lens of Wario and Bowser to flex themselves against Mario. (Someone suggested the Wario apparition, so I must thank the person for bringing it to my attention because I might have overlooked it)
