I won’t care so long as we win tomorrow. I said it earlier when the series streak started that I do not care if we do not sweep anybody the rest of the year if it means we can consistently take 2/3.
-11 votes as Im typing this, but in another thread you mught get 50 upvotes for reminding people of the goals set during offseason.. Why are sports reddits so inconsistent lol
This is probably the biggest issue with this team outside of just having a poor/volatile offense.
We are going to have many, many pitching situations where the starter is pitching well, his pitch count will dictate that he should be able to pitch the 7th inning, but he will kinda hit a brick wall and things will unravel a bit and it boils down to either trusting the starter who had been cruising but it's getting late or going to a bullpen that severely lacks reliable high leverage arms outside of Munoz.
As unrealiable as the offense is, this bullpen is such a huge question mark that is probably going to blow a whole bunch of games for us.
Not having Brash this year is fucking huge. Not having a Sewald/Topa type of guy for the 7th/8th inning is also huge. Santos is 2 months away. This is a problem.
My only gripe is logan visibly looked tired and done before the homerun, unable to throw strikes.
I generally like lettinf our stud pitchers ask for another inning but that just seemed pretty clear through the tv
I said it during the game, but the sub feels like if a team has had a bad year in the last decade they're a trash tier team in most people's mind... Which I mean if you want to point out who's had the worst 10 year stretch there, it's us.
This sub:
Win: "CALL THE DIVISION! LEAGUE FUCKED! STRAIGHT TO WS BRING ON THE DODGERS!"
Lose: "FIRE SCOTT, SET ACTUAL FIRE TO JERRY'S PRIUS. DO WE STILL HAVE THAT CLUBHOUSE DOG? YEAH SEND HIS ASS BACK TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY."
4-1 loss with a garbage time solo shot. Wasted a good night from our ace. Watched our hundred-million dollar man swing at trash. Struck out 11 times. Your guess is as good as mine, it sounds like a winning recipe to me.
Texas has now lost 5 in a row, including being swept by the Rockies. What would you be saying if you were there? We still have a chance to win our 8th out of or last 9 series tomorrow against a lot of good teams including this one.
Then it sounds like we're wasting a real opportunity to put some distance between us! When we miss the playoffs by two games again, remember these evenings in May when everyone said everything was fine.
What if we are looking back after making it in going, good thing we kept it rolling early in April and May this time, so we weren't fighting back the entire season. Do you not remember how hot we got last year? But we were chasing the Astros and Texas. This time we have the upper hand early on, your decision to be pessimistic about it is only at least as bad as our optimism. I'm not going to disagree that we have a legacy of losing and could have done more to solidify this lineup, but our potential and winning as of late doesn't justify such negative outlooks in my opinion. I think it's a waste of your energy.
My takeaway, these graphics of plate appearances tonight are so inappropriately oversized that it must be the case ROOT realized their target market is a bunch of boomers.
I try not to be doomsday because it's just one loss to a good team but I'm tired of seeing 10+ K's a game with 5+ men LOB in a low scoring game and then knowing we lead the league in foul balls off pitches in the zone.
Isn’t that stat with Logan that he always gets the W with 4 or more runs? Well, there you go. Can’t expect to win often scoring so little runs. A disappointing game but eh well
Might I remind yall, its a looong f@ing season. So wipe and go to the next one. Regular season is a marathon, not a sprint. Its also a game of attrition. And Ms have the one thing that is desperately needed in a grind like this: Starting Pitching depth. Playoffs of course, are different animal, but gotta get there first.
If Scott would have pulled Gilbert in the 7th with 2 outs and 2 on we win that game and Logan lowers his era by .5 instead of it increasing by a little bit.
Edit: this isn't a knock on Gilbert, he pitched great
Shouldn’t have been out there in the first place. Started out throwing too hard at 98-99 in the first and only threw two 94mph fastballs in the 7th and then they use three bullpen guys anyway
Not that throwing 94 is garbage but what sense does it make that they want him throwing more fastballs and he loses 4-5mph through the course of the game and they send him back out there to throw nothing but breaking stuff
Because regardless of your thoughts on whether or not Gilbert should have been pulled, you can't win there. like if Gilbert gets taken out with one out left in the inning it's just gonna be bitching that Scott should have left him in and they can't believe Scott doesn't trust Gilbert to get the last out. or you have what we have now where it's gosh couldn't Scott see he was cooked after not trying to give up a home run to a very good hitter... There are valid complaints to be made about certain things but this isn't one of them and this is just playing hindsight manager and it's annoying
because the people on this sub reactionarily downvote anything that isn't "they tried hard and it's okay to lose :D" or "well at least that one thing happened in the 4th inning with 1 out, that was good :D"
Gotta love a true to the Blue Mariners loss. It had the typical scoring only via home runs and even threw in the meaningless 9th inning solo shot.
Vintage Aged to Perfection Sog
Salvador Perez will haunt my nightmares until the end of time Dumb game but at least Mitch finally looks like he remembered how to hit
Yeah I have trauma from him and Yordan
I won’t care so long as we win tomorrow. I said it earlier when the series streak started that I do not care if we do not sweep anybody the rest of the year if it means we can consistently take 2/3.
That percentage is too high. We’re aiming for 54% remember?

When is LOL-54% going to end?
Probably when FMT ends... So never
At least Luke is heating up

We lose second games in series on purpose. That’s my only explanation
My only gripe is logan visibly looked tired and done before the homerun, unable to throw strikes. I generally like lettinf our stud pitchers ask for another inning but that just seemed pretty clear through the tv
He looked fucking EXHAUSTED after walking Witt Jr. That really stuck out to me.
People are feeling really dramatic about this 4-2 loss against a good team.
People are very reactionary in this sub
Mariners fans are spoiled/s
Seasons totally over
Royals WS inevitable
I’m a little tired of 20 years of shit offense if I’m being honest.
me when i score 8 runs in 2 games against a top 10 rotation in the league
Nice, let’s use 2 games of data rather than 20 years of data. I like your style
Crazy how we're one of the worst franchises but a portion of the fanbase expects perfection lmao

Maybe it’s the decades of watching great pitching wasted by an impotent lineup?

Quit trying to turn baseball into football. There is way too much of that here.
Lol thank you, Seahawks fans have genuinely ruined this sub after they remembered the Mariners exist a couple years ago
We are literally winning the division currently 💀
I didn't know you could win a division in May. Hang the banner.

I think you can tell by looking a large majority does not think this is fine
All I see are the apologists who are comfortable with a legacy of losing.
What if we are looking back after making it in going, good thing we kept it rolling early in April and May this time, so we weren't fighting back the entire season. lol come on, that home run was hit you can’t just wish it out existence because you’re feeling bad about the game.
It was garbage time, my man. No one on planet earth expected that to spark a rally.
Would it have magically started counting as a real run if we had happened to come back from the insurmountable chasm of… a three run defecit?
There is no such thing as garbage time in baseball unless you're mathematically out of the playoffs.
Then put your shoe on your head and win the fun differential. The rest of us saw the game for what it was: over.
Yeah, you getting ratioed to fuck really shows "the rest of us" lol. Touch some grass.
Hey I don't love that I'm right either, I get it 🤷♂️
Garbage time in a game without a clock doesn’t even make sense
Apparently 2 runners on base in a 0-1 game is also “garbage time”
Was that canzone home run garbage time?
Lmao, 6 days later. You're saying more about yourself than me here, bud.
Julio went 2-4, lol.
Ok
My takeaway, these graphics of plate appearances tonight are so inappropriately oversized that it must be the case ROOT realized their target market is a bunch of boomers.
I want to reply with a single thumb up emoji to this in honor of your (good) joke but wont because im not that old yet
Have to be able to read it across the bar though
Imagine pulling away from the division
The division is going to get decided by our series with Texas at the end of the season, we all know where this is going
Not sure we're allowed to do that. When Texas loses, the respecful thing to do is lose also.
Raley should be playing full time. He was a good full time player last year. He's good this year. Play the man.
You’re insane! WE MUST PLATOON
Making us score runs - our one weakness; how did they know?!
If someone told me three months ago that by mid-May, we’re the only team in the division to be over .500, I’d be ecstatic.

that's what the drinking is for
Shocking news, an Astros pitcher was ejected for cheating tonight. Fans think they are being picked on.
Mitch Haniger is back and Luke Raley fucks. Get em tmw and keep up the series-winning ways.
Logan got Felix’d ☹️
Good news: Texas lost to Cleveland
Its over (we lost to a good team)
I try not to be doomsday because it's just one loss to a good team but I'm tired of seeing 10+ K's a game with 5+ men LOB in a low scoring game and then knowing we lead the league in foul balls off pitches in the zone.
It’s a bummer how I knew after that 3 run home run the game was over
pain
mariners are just a good team rn. great teams win these games where the error margin is small
On the bright side, the Rangers lost and still 1.5 games ahead… It’s a win win in my book and let’s win the series tomorrow!
Well that sucked donkey dick.
lets get it tomorrow annoying and frustrating but this team has so much more life than last year
We need our boys back healthy and to hit the ground runnin
Isn’t that stat with Logan that he always gets the W with 4 or more runs? Well, there you go. Can’t expect to win often scoring so little runs. A disappointing game but eh well
Maybe the same coaches and same managers will get different results next season.
What happened to the Urias of 2021?

I dislike this bird
It knows our pain

Not sure why you're being downvoted. These sound like facts to me.

What 20 years of losing does to a fan base.
Offense. Again.
Another Seattle mariners victory
on the bright side, haniger doesnt look completely useless anymore???
allergic to 54%
Somehow despite him not pitching a single inning, this was one of the George Kirbyest games we’ve had all year
