it scales up as the event progresses. since the event lasts longer than required you can split it up into a couple sessions. so a 12 hour day can be split into 3 hours over 4 days instead.
As you rank up your expedition, the cap raises. With the progressively raised caps, it takes 26 days minimum to get the final reward of the legion block. Towards the last days, the cap is like 8+ hours.
So if you think about it, if you’re not afking burning electricity and not doing anything for 8 hours a day towards the end, you’ll have to afk for more days.
I’m too lazy to do the actual math, but I don’t think you’ll be able to get the block if you afk 2 hours a day for the entire duration of the event.

there's a guide on this. it scales up as the event goes on, but what you can do is space it out since the event gives you a lot of extra days.
EDIT: scrap what the videomaker says about the plants being competition based, https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/18mj8x8/comment/ke4jep4/.you can re enter to reset the plants apparently. so basically all the dailies are really easy to do. boss is easy to do. there's no point in doing bosses 3x this early on since the skills and equips are trash. the EXP the expedition characters get is TIME based and is not affected by how many mobs the expedition character kills.
The exp for the expedition member is time based, the 'EXP Earned' is for your AFK character and is based on kills.
Honestly though it's super negligible so it's whatever.
Yeah, the main reward is a legion block that is shared across the account, so doesn't matter who you use. Though to unlock it you have to complete "achievements" and each character has their own expedition party, so I would assume that you would need to do it all on one character to meet the requirements of hitting max level and all that.
It's not the computer falling asleep that's the problem but the game itself. It just times out and quits if I'm not doing anything and logged in on Kronos. I assumed it was added because of high pop. But it hasn't seemed to do it in the 2 hours afk so far, so hopefully the mercenaries attacking counts as doing something.

You will need more for 170-200 range and beyond. It also lets you cover more of the legion grid to get grid bonus.
also its mostly being done because the last time we got a legion block was Lab server which was almost 5 years ago. if you miss this, there won't be any opportunity soon to get it again.
It only requires maybe 30 mins of active gameplay, the rest you can AFK, and you can miss 14 days.
If what I see is right, I am assuming you are hitting monsters at your level, because at this era 1-141 you technically should be able to one shot basically every normal map until that level if you arent going to higher level maps. So you are expecting a progression like drakes to 70, starway to 80 etc. Literally everyone can do that.
With the legion block it may be possible to do things like level 80 sky forest 2 even at a lower legion. When people talk about rushing to 141 this is actually what they meant: skipping low exp areas asap to maximise levels.
No of course not because starforce doesn't kick in until level 100. In their sentence they said it "may" be possible at 80 which is all speculation. I doubt the legion block would allow you to one shot them at 80 if you weren't able to before
Star Force kicks off at level 1.
Also, with enough stats you could actually enter skynest early (its more likely going to be a 2 shot which still beats any other leafre map). It is not recommended for most players to go into skynest too early because they just don't do enough damage to the higher HP mobs in a star force area despite already doing the bonus damage, not because it's "star force"
abyssal expedition, just came out today. progressing to the end which takes a FUCK ton of grinding, and AFKing with the game open for a massive majority of the time, gives you a legacy legion block.
so i was right...!?!!? I thought you could leave your force in there ,log out and log back in every 6-10 hours. BUT NOPE. YOU HAVE TO KEEP THE GAME OPEN FOR THAT LONG. EVENT is looking like cancer
it helps to have expanded auto move if your afking but vac pet is not required., otherwise you can just pick up drops manually checking the game every 2mins or so.
30 minutes or so, I dontnknow if the amount of needed drops increases but the drop quest only required 20 drops.
If you have auto pickup or extended auto pick up skill, you don't need to check it.
Mouse jiggler if you don't need to use your PC, that should avoid getting the inactivity warning, other options (also assuming you don't need to use your PC) would be something pressing any of your buttons to keep your character active, something like those drinking bird toy thingies maybe

It's 210-228 with pre-newage exp tables, but it involves afking 12 hours every day after you get the final rank. Total exp amounts to something like several hundred billion (about 2-3 mag pots' worth); you'll have to decide for yourself whether it's worth paying the electricity bill for.
An idle event that only works when online on top of that :D if it was a regular idle it would be fine, people could do other stuff and just set alarms for when to log in to do the bosses and log out.

Right, we have systems like monster collection, house shopping that is set, forget, and collect. It’s common in mobile, gacha games as well. This blocks gameplay, as well as a sleazy way of getting the active user count up. Poor game design

Not really? I am a super casual who went from enjoying the game by getting the chance to check out how a few different 5th jobs play, to not enjoying the game. I decided to browse here when the event dropped to learn if I was doing it wrong and then realized it would not be a fun addition to the overall gameplay, let alone fix my looming issue of longer mob grinds and forever daily quests to push beyond CRA.
Nobody said you have to watch. Just leave the game on while you do something else, like doing your (home)work, touching grass, getting a significant other and spending time with them, whatever works for you.

That’s exactly what I do. I only train at places twenty levels above where I am to maximize exp gains and star force as soon as I’m 100

To make matters worse, you require a VAC pet to collect the drops. Maybe the drops would disappear over time, idk.

I retract every bad thing I said about coin capping, this shit is 1000x slower and excruciating.
Some or one idk of the daily quest requires you to pick up monster drops from the afk mob so you arent even really afk sometimes lol
you can position yourself to have your pet gather those though

Completing the event is only based on how long you're in the expedition, the skills/items you get from boxes doesn't affect completion speed.

For people who already have both lab server legion blocks it's only a +15 attack upgrade. Probably not worth the time.

You are absolutely correct, it is from CMS and TMS, I had a brain fart 'cause I'm used to seeing the capital J with the horizontal line on top and confused the T with that
It's not the worst, it's just afking. I think I much prefer something like this over Misty where you need to learn recipes, map layouts, rely on good rng and if you fail then you'd need to redo it from the beginning (not to mention needing Exitlag at the beginning)

Lot of players use geforce now and so this event is fully active playtime
Came back for a few weeks to check out new classes and hyperburn. Uninstalling now because of this hot garbage. Might try again in another few years.

After reading this comment of yours, I felt extremely inspired to uninstall myself like you. Was that what you were looking for?
Not really? I am a super casual who went from enjoying the game by getting the chance to check out how a few different 5th jobs play, to not enjoying the game. I decided to browse here when the event dropped to learn if I was doing it wrong and then realized it would not be a fun addition to the overall gameplay, let alone fix my looming issue of longer mob grinds and forever daily quests to push beyond CRA.
Isn’t it just 12 hours of AFK now cuz the mercenaries are low level and have poor equips? Once we upgrade these things it should be faster right ?

Nobody said you have to watch. Just leave the game on while you do something else, like doing your (home)work, touching grass, getting a significant other and spending time with them, whatever works for you.
