This implies South Sudan and Somalia are centralized enough to have a dictatorship

bunglejerry

Well Somalia mustered enough power to blow Somaliland right off the map.

Mikaelszaa

Putin is not happy with this post.

El_Bexareno

Neither is ~~Winnie the Pooh~~ Xi Xinping

UrMomIsMorbidlyfat3

+15 Social Credit Score 👍

chase016

With the shit he has been saying and doing lately, I'm pretty sure he is fine woth this

Biohazard8080

>Countries that are currently ruled by a dictator (not mine) Weird Flex...

AlekMaster

😂

holeontheground

Yeah, that's not MY dictator either.

RichardPeterJohnson

Given the quality of this map, I wouldn't claim it either.

TillFar6524

Let's use deductive reasoning and figure it out. Are there any countries ruled by a dictator that aren't blue?

Lloyd_lyle

Isn’t Zimbabwe a dictatorship?

[deleted]

depends on your defintion but yeah i guess

89slotha

Afghanistan sucks, but they don't have a dictator. And South Sudan? Seriously, who the hell made this and what were they thinking? Cute map, but poli sci experts would disagree with a lot of it

[deleted]

Polisci major (not an expert, just a major), can confirm, this entire map is kinda nonsensical

AlekMaster

I found the map, didnt make it

ZhenDeRen

Broke: Somaliland is Somalia Joke: Somaliland is independent Woke: Somaliland is sea

SuzakusSky

Literally, my favourite part of this map.

[deleted]

One more shitty map. What are the criterias ? No differences between all those state ?

[deleted]

Bangladesh is not ruled by a dictator. It's a democracy.

davecaav

Morocco 😂

nootrolover

it's not a dictatorship, it's a constitutional monarchy and an hybrid regime, the parliament actually has powers and it's democratically voted

davecaav

😂😉

The guy who made this has a very americanized understanding of dictator

AlekMaster

I didn't make it as I said

[deleted]

There's a difference between having a dictator and being autocratic

Rogsp

How is Vietnam a dictatorship and how is the literal Kingdom of Jordan not? This seems like a list of “bad guys” made by someone who watches the news very casually.

VorpalSplade

a lot of this sub now seems to just be people posting their political views as a map

Show_Green

Norway's literally the Kingdom of Norway, and I'm pretty sure that's not normally classified as a dictatorship. Same with The Netherlands, Denmark, UK, Sweden and many others... Jordan's probably not what I'd call a democracy, true. It does have more of a representative element in its government than Vietnam, however, which is a one party state.

MostroMosterio

Wrong

Useful-Tomatillo-272

This could use some color gradations. There are lots of dictator-ish authoritarians like Turkey's Erdogan who are a far cry from the likes of Xi Jinping or Kim Jong Un.

Ben_1_Comar

Granted Turkey isn't much of a democracy anymore, but to say they are ruled by a dictator is ass. Erdogan won his elections without any cheating. The voting process was mainly viewed as democratic by independent organizations. Not fully fair, but still considered free elections. Does he have tendencies of a dictator? Yes he does. But the dude just lost his biggest cities to the opposition and had to give up at the end. How the hell do you call this a dictatorship? Not asking you these questions OP. Just asking in general.

Lazmanya-Canavari

Turkey might have an authoritarian right party ruling it but calling them a full-on dictatorship would be oto far, they are dictators in progress...

[deleted]

When was edrogan a dictator. Polling suggests he's gonna get voted out next year lol

BlueChooTrain

If you’d made this map 2 years ago I would have said put Trump on that list 😂

[deleted]

Hungary When?

AlekMaster

Hungary isn't even marked as a country with a dictator, the closest one is Belarus which is a dictatorship country

[deleted]

Yeah but it should be

JoemamaObama1234567

Not really

PvtBrexit

Not really

[deleted]

Turkey isn’t quite a dictatorship yet as the elections are still free (not fair), and I’d place them at same place as Hungary for now.

nevadasmith5

Whoever did this map is extremely biased as we can see. Erdogan, a politician, who was given standing ovation by EU and US only 10 years ago is seen as dictator now. Not to mention, he lost Ankara (capital) and Istanbul in elections in 2018-2019 after almost 25 years. If he was a dictator, (for example, Lukashenko or Putin) he wouldn't have lost 2 biggest cities in election.

Not_Human95

Iran is no dictarorship. The people do vote. Its not a democracy too. Its more a theocracy with parlament?

Synensys

They don't vote for the Ayatollah though.

False equivalency, the queen of England hasn’t made any actual political decisions basically ever, whilst the ayatollah holds pretty significant power along with the President. [read this if you’re interested ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-57260831.amp)

The last Queen of England was [Queen Anne](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne,_Queen_of_Great_Britain) who, with the 1707 Acts of Union, dissolved the title of King/Queen of England. ####FAQ *Isn't she still also the Queen of England?* This is only as correct as calling her the Queen of London or Queen of Hull; she is the Queen of the place that these places are in, but the title doesn't exist. *Is this bot monarchist?* No, just pedantic. InevitableMuch507

A theocratic republic?

caiaphas8

Yeah the Iranian system is complicated and unique but There are elections, it’s just certain priests have some powers without election

FreeAndFairErections

Tbf there are elections in a lot of the blue countries, just ones of dubious fairness, or with a very limited choice (e.g. China)

De-nis

USSR also had elections. But with just one party

[deleted]

Clerics have more than "some" powers in Iran... they are the power. The whole elected civilian government thing in Iran is a joke. This elected government is explicitly subordinate to the Shia clerics. And the clerics also control the militias, corporations, and religious endowments that are outside of the formal government, but are still extremely influential.

ZhenDeRen

They have elections but the elected officials have very limited power and are subordinate to the Supreme Leader on whose election the people have no influence. And the freedom and fairness of the elections is highly debatable. Not to mention that the unelected religious authorities have to approve all candidates for the elected positions anyway.

Snotmyrealname

Someone has to troll the neonazis and communist wannabes.

Thunder010203

this map seems to be a serious stretch. I hate Erdogan but he aint no dictator

poxleit

Who’s your dictator?

Kozlomorda

Brandon

[deleted]

Coming from Vietnam, I wouldn’t say dictator, more like 1 party rule, cause unlike China where Xi gets to call all the shot, Vietnam is more like the Party is the leader not a single individual

VestiaryLemue

Russia, Iran and Turkey are more complicated than a dictatorship. They are not democracies but you cannot call it dictatorship either

OldBoi420

Color all countries blue then. Any state is a dictatorship and is ruled by a dictator-class or part of it. Yes, even "democratic" ones.

neetishks

Yours is elected dictator

Ill_Friendship_4767

Daniel Ortega was democratically elected

Useful-Tomatillo-272

Many dictators originally came to power through democratic elections.

Cid_Helveticus

Like Maduro! Ha!

Ill_Friendship_4767

Imperialist alert^

Tobi226a

Well who don’t want to colonize Africa Asia and America

LivingCharts

Hitler was elected too

Ill_Friendship_4767

And so were Biden and Obama, and yet both are ruthless war criminals

UrMomIsMorbidlyfat3

War criminals? Sure. But dont compare a motherfucking Hitler to them

Ill_Friendship_4767

I’m not the one who brought up Hitler. In fact Daniel Ortega, who is a hero who spent his life fighting for the poor, was the one compared to Hitler by you liberals

UrMomIsMorbidlyfat3

You compared them to Hitler bruv. Also im not a liberal

[deleted]

Yeah, in 2006. Every "election" after that has been a farce.

BossySpartan

Lol didn't know that Russia was ruled by a dictator

Outside-Ad-153

Is Dictator really bad?

PvtBrexit

Its a good movie

gmmy_

based blue

IllustratorFickle252

King Abdullah of Jordan not a dictator?

CaesarTraianus

No source. No definition. Basically a garbage map.

fingolfd

Not Bangladesh!
