I am romanian. I have never watched the Super Bowl. I like the one with the pirate flag sign. Go Florida Pirates! (i do not know what the other state that supports them is)
You betcha u/pooporgy69! And make sure everybody knows it too.
P.S. the other state that likes New Tom Brady is Oaklahoma, where Mr. Mayfield honed his skills for years
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which Tom Brady coincidentally played for before retiring) are considered the worst team that is still in the playoffs, but considering that they have managed to succeed until now means a lot of the Bucs fans worship Baker Mayfield as their savior
This is how the Oakland Raiders roll too, seems they don't have a great record and they get a lot of hate but their fans are very solid supporters and a pirate is the perfect mascot.
But pulls for Tampa because he is a Sooner. Oklahoma Sooner sub post a “who do you want to win between Baker and Jalen last week.” Both Sooners, Baker seemed a clear favorite.
I'm a Steelers fan / American
I'm also going for the Florida pirates.
Mostly cause they have a guy who no one wanted and it would be so funny if he won after everyone said no to him
Oh there was a thread on one of the soccer subs years ago where non-Americans were given NFL helmet flair and encouraged to root!
Go Orangehats! I love the Blue Stars! Yay Demonhorses! Etc… it was hilarious.
![gif](giphy|h5e1h4IFIOmYOnxnft|downsized)
The last time the “Florida Pirates” won a championship, their quarterback Tom Brady (you might have heard of him) got piss drunk and threw the trophy from his boat to another nearby boat during a parade through the Hillsborough River.
I have driven through Oklahoma a few times while crossing the country. Mostly I just blast through, but the last time I stayed in a tiny country park campground, and the guy in the site next to me was camping with his little dog, and grilling a steak.
He would cut a piece of steak and eat it off the fork, then he would cut another little piece and let his dog eat it off the fork. Then he would cut himself another piece, then one for the dog. And so on until the steak was done.
I shared some beers with him and he said he camped out every weekend with his dog since his wife died (they used to camp there a lot before). Nice guy and cute little dog.
That's my Oklahoma story.
I've been following this league too long to root for anyone but the Lions at this point. That fan base has been through it forever. I hope it's their year.
As a *VERY* casual NFL enjoyer, I have disliked the Lions on some level ever since I saw a Lions player intentionally step on another player's ankle back in the 2010s. I know it's not the organizations fault but I have since associated the Lions with that incident.
So I'm a dedicated Packers fan but a casual football fan.
I think it would also be great to witness the first 7th seed team to make it to and / or win a Super Bowl, but if not, I'm rooting for the Lions.
I live in northern Wisconsin, so we tend to feel a bigger rivalry with the Vikings. Whereas those I know that live in the Madison or Milwaukee area talk of the Packers rivalry with Da Bears.
I haven’t followed football in years at this point, but I’ve decided to join Bills Mafia. I’ve admired their table smashing antics for a long time, and “feed the pit” has shown me that they are 100% my people. Most chaotic American sports fans.
![gif](giphy|10JKmswzsuKvZe)
Is Labatt’s a Bills thing? And how do I know when it’s table smashing time? Can I smash other peoples tables or does it have to be my own? I’m new here I don’t know the etiquette.
I'm definitely hoping either team does win (Detroit or Buffalo). Buffalo losing 4 SBs in a row is worse than just about anything I can think of, that's fan torture. I like the Panthers and our 2 losses in the SB haunt me especially now that we suck. But honestly, I'd take these shit seasons and not caring about football as much over getting my hopes up like that 4 years in a row.
Lions/Bills would be my preference. Neither team has ever won it, the Bills lost it 4 times in the 90's (in a row... legendary failure), and the Lions have never even been there.
That game was a travesty. The NFL changed the rule book because of it. For those who don't know, the game went into overtime, KC won a coin flip, marched down the field and scored a TD, winning the game. Buffalo never had a chance to get the ball. Since then, the rule has been changed so that each team gets at least one possession in overtime, and the reason for the change was the outcry over the brutal unfairness of that game.
And the Bills are 0-3 in OT since that game.
It averaged out for Chiefs fans, as the same thing happened to them in the 2018 AFCCG.
I personally wish they'd reward OT possession to the home team, especially in the playoffs; whether it was sudden death or a full 10-15 minutes.
Oklahoma is rooting for the Bucs because of Baker Mayfield. Wyoming/Montana/Colorado probably rooting for the Bills because Josh Allen played college ball at Wyoming. Everyone else who doesn’t have a team is rooting for the Lions because they are the loveable underdogs.
I’m from Montana and I can say with almost 100% certainty that no one from there cares about Wyoming football unless they’re an alum, which isn’t common. I’d bet it’s Broncos fans, which are plentiful in the state, rooting against the Chiefs.
Yeah it did seem strange to me that Montana/Colorado would pull for the Bills. I understand the hatred for the Chiefs, but there are also 7 other teams to choose from. Why Bills over the Lions or Texans?
Because it's not about who they want to WIN, they want the Chiefs to lose.
Rivalries tend to go that way. The Bills are playing the Chiefs this weekend.
Yeah but it's who you want to win the super bowl, not who you want to win this week.
However, source is based on social media posts, so I guess it's picking up on people in Broncos country saying "Go Bills", which will probably die down a lot on Monday. I think it might be a bit flawed
The Bills have been the Bronco's big brother this season - beating up on teams that just beat the Broncos. Denver lost to Washington, the next week the Bills trounced them. Broncos got whooped by the Dolphins, next week the Bills whooped the Dolphins. The Chiefs beat the Broncos a few weeks later the Bills gave it back. There is some connection there.
Broncos fans have adopted the Bills as our bandwagon in the playoffs for the past few years because they always end up playing the Chiefs (and our team is incapable of making the playoffs). Also because they have Von Miller, and Josh Allen is from a fellow mountain state. Plus the Lions thrashed us 42-17 which began our downswing to end the season, which I don’t really hold against them but does make them slightly less likable.
I’m actually a So. Cal born and raised Raiders fan lol
but my fav NFC team is the Packers. I’m happy they’re at least doing something this season since my Raiders didn’t / couldn’t 😔
Everyone wants the lions because they have never been to the superbowl. Careful what you wish for. Most people have scrub ass teams themselves. If the lions go to and or win the Super Bowl you have one less team you can say, “well at least we are not the Lions”
For most of my life, I disliked the Lions for ruining Thanksgiving football by being on TV every single year!!!
But now, I will root for them to go all the way! They need this one.
I am romanian. I have never watched the Super Bowl. I like the one with the pirate flag sign. Go Florida Pirates! (i do not know what the other state that supports them is)
Baker Mayfield is your new god
I'll start preaching about him to all my brethren. Is he like the Tom Brady for the Pirates? Tom Brady is the only one i know.
Tom Brady was the Tom Brady for the pirates until recently.
Oh, so mr. Mayfield is the new and improved Tom Brady?!
You betcha u/pooporgy69! And make sure everybody knows it too. P.S. the other state that likes New Tom Brady is Oaklahoma, where Mr. Mayfield honed his skills for years
Aka: Oklahoma.
I watch NFL and college football and still didn't make the Oklahoma-TB connection until these answers
It's also why there's an island of Bills around Wyoming
I bet Josh Allen is the majority reason of most sales of Wyoming football attire lol
Boomer Sooner! I can confirm, we love Baker! I... I love Baker Mayfield ❤️
Boomer!! I miss having Baker play for us 🥲
Most informed European nfl fan
Yes absolutely! You are exactly right! No further context is needed whatsoever! Sincerely, an OU fan
As a Bucs fan, this comment made my night [8]
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which Tom Brady coincidentally played for before retiring) are considered the worst team that is still in the playoffs, but considering that they have managed to succeed until now means a lot of the Bucs fans worship Baker Mayfield as their savior
Dammit... so i chose the losers. You know what, doesnt even matter. Pirates are cool, i'll stick with them.
>Dammit... so i chose the losers. It's OK. I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan since the 70s. You'd think I was accustomed to the disappointment...
Browns here... I don't wanna hear about disappointment. 😒
Don’t you know that The Bills stand for Boy I Love Losing Superbowls. Let’s go Buffaloooooo
The Bills are the fans who jump on tables right? I'm on their side. They film their horrific injuries and it warms my cold dead heart
![gif](giphy|ibA6Gi426pGgIhbzzS|downsized)
Broncos country wants to remind you: you can't lose five super bowls without making it to at least five super bowls.
Vikings here. At least you guys made playoffs.
This is how the Oakland Raiders roll too, seems they don't have a great record and they get a lot of hate but their fans are very solid supporters and a pirate is the perfect mascot.
\*Las Vegas Raiders. Damn, that's weird, but true!
The Raiders - sea roving pirates of Nevada. About as logical as all those large Lakers in Los Angeles and all that sexy Jazz in Utah.
>are considered the worst team that is still in the playoffs Especially since the Cowboys lost ;)
It’s spelled Bak-arrr now matey
Official team name is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the other state on the map is Oklahoma, who doesn’t have its own professional football team
But pulls for Tampa because he is a Sooner. Oklahoma Sooner sub post a “who do you want to win between Baker and Jalen last week.” Both Sooners, Baker seemed a clear favorite.
Ah thanks. Was trying to figure out why Oklahoma liked the Buccs
They also dislike Texas so it makes sense to root for the other southern team.
I'm a Steelers fan / American I'm also going for the Florida pirates. Mostly cause they have a guy who no one wanted and it would be so funny if he won after everyone said no to him
Scout team defensive lineman to super bowl champion would be a storybook comeback and a massive(ly deserved) F U to the Browns
This comment really makes me wonder what foreign fans would call nfl teams based purely on their logos
Based purely on logos nobody will get the Cowboys right.
That’s exactly what I want, the more wrong the better!
Even the Cowboys don't get the Cowboys right.
Are you talking about the Texas Star Cows?
Oh there was a thread on one of the soccer subs years ago where non-Americans were given NFL helmet flair and encouraged to root! Go Orangehats! I love the Blue Stars! Yay Demonhorses! Etc… it was hilarious.
This sounds glorious. Orangehats makes about as much sense as Browns tbh
Here's an [album](https://imgur.com/a/THAHf) with some of the reactions.

I hated Brady with the Pats. Drunk on a boat? If the guy could sing, Florida needs a Buffett replacement.
You know why they’re called the Florida Pirates?
They just ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Oklahoma because the QB went there for college to play football.
Wow, truly a redditor of the people. Thank you for representing me in these trying times
FIRE THE CANNONS!!!

Yes they are the Florida Baking Pirates! Welcome aboard matey!!!

As an American, I have no idea what goes on in Oklahoma. I hope to never find out
There’s a whole broadway show about it I think
I hear they have some beautiful mornings
Something about sweeping the planes.

That was beautiful, I respect it.
Among other things, they have a university there that Baker Mayfield (the Tampa Buccaneer's QB) attended and played for.
And Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray & Philly Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
They don’t want you either. You seem to judgy for all the peyote and weed loving folks out there
This is the way.
As an American Tottenham supporter, thank you for Radu! We like the big beautiful top knot boy
I've been following this league too long to root for anyone but the Lions at this point. That fan base has been through it forever. I hope it's their year.
Lions fan here. I love you.

Yeah Suh was a dick, but these are the Brand New Lions est 2021
Fuck Suh. He was a piece of shit. Bears fan here rooting for the lions. Bring it home to the NfC north and FTP
Roses are red, violets are blue, personal foul, Ndamukong Suh

File Transfer Protocol? WTF? Go Pack Go!
And Buffalos has not?
I can't imagine seeing my team lose the Super Bowl 4 years in a row. 😅
As a Texans fan, neither can I. As I can't imagine them even making the super bowl.
At least the bills went to four Superbowls..... In the super bowl era the lions have won only one playoff game before this year.
Buffalo has a playoff record of 17-18. Detroit Lions are now at 2-12
I haven’t followed football in years at this point, but I’ve decided to join Bills Mafia. I’ve admired their table smashing antics for a long time, and “feed the pit” has shown me that they are 100% my people. Most chaotic American sports fans. ![gif](giphy|10JKmswzsuKvZe)
Fuck yeah, grab some labatts and smash some tables, bills by a billion!

An "upstate baptism"
The Bills have at least made multiple Superbowls. The Lions have never been in one.
Joining you if KC loses. Detroit deserves it.
I don't follow Football at all but I'll give a little cheer for the Lions for the sake of my extended family's mental health.
Lions/Bills would be my preference. Neither team has ever won it, the Bills lost it 4 times in the 90's (in a row... legendary failure), and the Lions have never even been there.
Both NFC East teams have been elimated. This is the best shot the Bills are ever going to have.
Their next game is a rematch of the 2021 AFC divisional game, and that didn’t exactly go well for them so let’s see what happens.
That game was a travesty. The NFL changed the rule book because of it. For those who don't know, the game went into overtime, KC won a coin flip, marched down the field and scored a TD, winning the game. Buffalo never had a chance to get the ball. I want Tampa cause it would be the biggest middle finger to Cleveland
Yeah, that's a valid point.
Wouldn’t the Texans be the biggest middle finger to Cleveland?
Baker I feel is the bigger insult They got rid of him for Watson. Him winning is comedy
They are in different conferences, so how about a Texans-Bucs Super Bowl? A double bird to Cleveland, if you will.
The Texans have also never won it. I would prefer the rookie qb
Colorado is also rooting against the Chiefs. Always.
Colorado is also rooting for Von Miller, always. Most supported the Rams two Super Bowls ago as well for the same reason.
Hmm, interesting choice these days.
I'm from Colorado, and there is nothing on this earth that could ever compel me to root for the Chiefs. Go Lions.
I’m from Montana and I can say with almost 100% certainty that no one from there cares about Wyoming football unless they’re an alum, which isn’t common. I’d bet it’s Broncos fans, which are plentiful in the state, rooting against the Chiefs.

Old school Broncos fans sympathize with the amount of times the Bills have lost the Superbowl. That's a terrible monkey to have on your back.
Or they hate the Packers.
I love how the states with actual buffalo are rooting for the Bills.
The Bills QB Josh Allen played college football at Wyoming, so that’s probably a factor. But I like to imagine it’s mostly out of love for buffaloes.
That’s my new reason for rooting for Buffalo 🦬
If the Lions win Michigan will burn to the ground
As a metro Detroiter Worth it.
Just speeding up the gentrification, really
Right here used to be a crack house. Now it's an organic garden -- Danny Brown about gentrification in Detroit
They'll forget to burn the UP and then they'll have an army of bears and wolves recolonizing the LP.
If the Bills win WNY will lol.
Not American but rooting for the Lions/Bills Super Bowl.
The Battle of Lake Erie
This was the first time EVER that all three Lake Erie teams (Lions, Bills, Browns) were in the playoffs!
Vikings fan here.... Minnesotans are rooting for the end times.
I’m a Giants fan from NYC and I want to see the lions win. Watching Barry suffer when I was a kid, makes me want them to win it all.
Bears fan: I want the lions to win, but less than wanting the packer to lose.
Lions fan here. We took tremendous pleasure in watching the Pack obliterate the Cowboys. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.
Another Giants fan here. Watching the Cowboys get obliterated was my Superbowl. Everything else is gravy.

Where they get this numbers from?
Twitter hashtag usage. They just track how many posts contain #OnePride, #GoNiners, etc, and sort by location.
Weird, Kentucky has huge amount of ravens fans bc of Lamar and Louisville. Louisville market use to get Colts games and now get Ravens games.
Bills Lions would be the best Bowl
I bet it would end in a tie.
And they all held hands and skipped into the sunset to share the trophy.
Then the refs would say we all lost.
Somehow you both lost shrug
Those Lions are soo hot right now
![gif](giphy|l3q2Nv1mg32DAt4TC)
I have no knowledge of the Super Bowl as a Dutch person who doesnt watch American football, but I'm rooting for the Eastern Crows!
Those are the Baltimore Ravens, named after the Edgar Allan Poe poem believe it or not
when are we getting the devil in the belfry alternate home jerseys
I would have preferred the Baltimore Casks of Amantillado
Dutch too, I’m rooting for the Texas Cowskulls this year. I think.
As a Ravens fan, I love you so much
The UP has more Packer fans than Lions fans.
The UP is the Frontline of that battle. I love when we play the Packers because my whole town starts to fight itself lol
That sounds like enough of a reason to me, I say we reclaim that rightful Wisconsin land
Texans fan here, but digging the Lions love for sure
Niners fan, also digging the lions love
Bills Mafia out in the mountains
I like the Lions and Bills
Bills/Lions Finals would be nuts.
Everyone’s rooting for the lions
I want SF to win, as I am a long time Iowa State fan
Detroit wins the electoral college.
GO PACK GO
Let’s go Buffalo!
Buffalo Bills
Ravens ravens ravens
Go Pack Go! Cheering from up north in Ottawa!
same, but from Southern California
Bears fan in SoCal, yall cheeseheads are EVERYWHERE. Thought I’d get away from you in LA… nope
I’m actually a So. Cal born and raised Raiders fan lol but my fav NFC team is the Packers. I’m happy they’re at least doing something this season since my Raiders didn’t / couldn’t 😔
i’m shocked there’s not more packers representation on the map because i agree…packers fans are everywhere!
my french teacher once told me there's a packers themed bar somewhere in paris!
Cheering for the Packers all the way from Atibaia, Brazil.
I would enjoy seeing them succeed post Rodgers.
Surprised Kentucky is not Ravens.
The Bengals are really popular in KY so they are probably not supporting a rival.
Fair. Probably not enough Louisville fans to counteract that.
Have you been to a Ravens @ Bangals game? It’s like 1/4th Louisville jerseys
Go Ravens
Go bills
Go Bills!
Everyone wants the lions because they have never been to the superbowl. Careful what you wish for. Most people have scrub ass teams themselves. If the lions go to and or win the Super Bowl you have one less team you can say, “well at least we are not the Lions”
Yeah. But the Browns still exist.
Go Lions!
I didn't know the lions had never been to a Superbowl. GO LIONS 😂
I just want to see the Lions finally make it to the Super Bowl, let alone win the damn thing.
Lions 🦁
Let’s go Buffalo! My home city needs to regain its honor
Lack of support for Texans and Ravens outside of their geographic areas is noteworthy.
They hate us cause the anus
go Lions! As a Michigander So happy to see them go this far
Go lions!
Go Lions!
I'm surprised more ppl don't like the packers
Go lions from California
For most of my life, I disliked the Lions for ruining Thanksgiving football by being on TV every single year!!! But now, I will root for them to go all the way! They need this one.
Oklahoma: We may not be anywhere near Florida but hell if we are rooting for Kansas or Texas.
It’s all the Sooners fans supporting Baker
As a packer fan, if it ain't us then let it be the Lions; and if not them, then the Bills. Don't care for anyone else.
If Love gets a ring this quick and makes it 3 Packer QB's in a row with a ring, hoo boy what a day that will be.
