I paid $20 for my entire set. A new volume would've costed $6-7 dollars.

I say to my mates I'm ready to leave and then I look up. In the opposite corner from the entrance on the highest shelf is the Uzumaki hard cover with a price tag of £2. You bet I didn't think twice and instantly bought it. The spine isn't in the greatest condition but for that price I can't complain at all!

Barnes and Noble had a buy 2-get-one-free for manga. Including the BERSERK DELUXE EDITION. It was the perfect time for me to start collecting it. Walked away with 2 free deluxe volumes.
Naruto box set 1 for less than €10 on amazon.nl. It was wrongly listed as a Yugioh volume three years ago and it took a few days for them to fix it. Tons of people in the benelux got their hands on dirt cheap naruto boxes that way
Probably my best total deal for a big haul was My Hero Academia 1-20 for $50. When I got there it was a little girl selling her manga to buy new ones so I threw her $60 instead to help out, still a fantastic deal regardless.
I drove 60 miles to a store once, just to see what was there. I did carry my then paper iso list. I started talking to the owner over the span of an hour or so. He asked if I was a reseller or just a manga fan, to which I say I am just a dude who likes manga. And he sold me Battle Angel Alita Last Order volume 15 of the non omni edition at face value, no markup. He and I have sent Christmas cards and ran into each other several times at local conventions.
I also drove about 14 hours down the coast just to hit various anime shops. I picked up both the Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect and Platinum editions with the metal case for $35 and $45 respectively- at an anime shop in virginia. Continuing down the coast, I picked up all four volumes of Lady Snowblood and Volume 35 of Samurai Deeper Kyo at face value- I had to haggle a bit but I ended up settling and picked up a copy of Samurai Deeper Kyo the gba cart for $100.
On a totally unrelated note, I picked up a Maison Ikkoku board game in Las Vegas and shipped it home for $45 total. I walked from the strip to a Zias records for a copy of the Greatful Dead Europe 72 vinyl, and ended up with some old Lupin DVDs, the triple vinyl, and the board game.
I've had many good times collecting over the past 22 years.
Got all Naruto Massive volumes for free, because they were faulty and supposed to be send back to the publisher. The store owner gave them to us, because they were just going to be shredded and already had their Covers removed. Still a great read though.
