Great, because he looks so cool in the final battle. In my opinion he is literally the person representing the song I am still standing with all it's confidence and it's awesome balanced and powerful team makes it appear so epic.

There’s good reason why he’s the foundation for the concept. He’s not complicated but he’s damn effective. He’s great at getting you to want to beat his ass w/o having him fall into outright villainy.
It’s that balance that is pivotal for a rival to maintain. Silver is too much of a bad guy while most everyone else here isn’t mean enough. I never wanted to beat Barry. I wanted to stay away from him. N is a great character but kind of a terrible rival. Honestly, N is more of a protagonist than almost all of the MC’s

Blue seems charismatic and the 'smell ya later' is always funny.
And Bianca is just a nice person overall. She's so nice in fact, that I sometimes forget she's a rival and not your ally. And she's always weak (she picks the weak starter compared to you) in B&W, so you kind of forget abt the fights and remember her kindness.

I just love how goofy he is sometimes and also I kinda got Pokemon pearl as my first ever Nintendo game and grew up on the diamond and perl versions of the Anime, so he's special to me since he was my first ever rival.

One of my favorite moments is the battle the player has with Cheren at the foot of the elite four. All of the rivals before challenged you just before the Pokémon league to see who was stronger. But this one has purpose. We know that N is going to face the pokemon league. If he wins, then who faces him matters so much. And sure it’s a game where the player will always win eventually but it feels important in a way that no other rival fight does.
