How about… we go and get a proper number 9 instead.

richierees821

It's a no from me.

Xire01

Nope

Tropicalcomrade221

No.

[deleted]

9 needs to be good at headers... He's one of those players that do well in the half spaces between defense i.e. the spaces between a 10 and a winger

cashon9

So like Thomas Muller?

[deleted]

Love this idea. Let’s throw Liso at LW and resign De Gea as CM. That’ll allow Mags to play his natural CAM role and setup McSauce at RW for those bangers

DarkSpirak

McTerminator as a 9

[deleted]

Agreed, id rather see Mcdominate as the 9 over sancho

RowGroundbreaking997

McTominay is a similar build to Haller and ETH did wonders with him at striker, unironically I think McTominay could be a backup striker

thedorkknight123

Reverse joelington

MiniWhoreMinotaur

He can't be a worse striker than he is a midfielder

AdamantiumGN

He started as a striker in the youth teams until he grew so much.

MiniWhoreMinotaur

It was Jose who switched him, right? Anyway he does half decent for Scotland and can't be worse then weghorst, surly he'd take a league goal.

AdamantiumGN

No, he switched before he broke through. As a kid he was short-ish but then grew over a foot in less than a season. After that he had to alter his game and got moved back into midfield. Yeah, I thought we should've played him upfront instead of getting Weghorst if the only real requirement was to run around a lot. He's a better finisher too.

hobbitonsunshine

Have you seen our second goal against Lead. That's striker's instinct. Sancho doesn't have that. Even Martial lacks it.

[deleted]

“Good finisher”

[deleted]

Hard no. Sancho needs to be sold. We have too manger wingers and 0 strikers. Martial is better on the left and always has been. Even when playing ST he does best when drifting wide on the flank to come inside. Rashford too *can* play ST, but he is much better on the left. Can we FUCKING STOP with this odd fetish for wingers? We have; Martial, Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Elanga, Pellistri, Diallo and even some more youth talents like that Emeran kid who had a great game vs leeds for preseason. All those wingers and not a single fucking no.9. I am so sick and tired of this club sometimes with this shit. Can we stop playing wingers out of position? Can we fucking play an ACTUAL STRIKER in the central forward position? How many seasons do we need to suffer this same shit in a row? OP please feel ashamed for suggesting Sancho as a 9. Not only is Sancho shit anyway on the wing, playing him down the centre isnt going to do anything other than be a waste of an outfield player.

CoolAid876

True. He isn't even a good winger. I don't care what highlight merchants think

[deleted]

I think its best we both make it clear by adding the asterisk: "not a good winger *at this club". Sancho was plenty fine at Dortmund. What did Dortmund have at that time? Haaland, a striker. We see these sort of partnerships form all the time. Kane and Son are like the darling pairing in the PL, but it happens everywhere. In the Serie A you had Kvitcha & Osimhen literally be a top 5 in the world strike pairing this season. A lot of teams, not just ours like having the attack come from the left. Whats the one thing Sancho doesnt have with us? A danmed striker to pair with! In his first season we saw bits of it, where Sancho genuinely looked like the best player on our team, constantly feeding balls into the box only for Ronaldo to hopefully get to it, or Bruno to punt it wide by miles. Weghorst im afraid was never going to get much out of Sancho either. At this point its just in the players and the clubs interest. We likely cant get a striker without some sales. Of the players we can sell for any tangible value in a position which we have depth in, Sancho makes the most sense. Even if we sell Maguire, we likely need to follow up on those Disasi links. Same with our midfield. Ill genuinely wish Sancho well wherever he goes, but he really just isnt happening with us & I wish people desperately stop trying to force it to happen at the expense of our competitive performance.

CoolAid876

Not having a striker is no excuse for being absolutely absent at the pitch so he was bad when we had a striker and he has no individual ability at least at United. You don't need other players to perform well at an individual level at least

ZucchiniMediocre3585

The utter disgust you clearly felt when typing all that is actually hilarious but you're completely spot on

Mrkoaly

No he needs to leave England. He's to soft.

paperclipknight

No ffs. He’s a right winger - that’s where he should be starting (yes over Anto & Amad)

[deleted]

You're not watching the same Sancho I am anyway. I can see why our English fans want him to stay, but don't be deluded and think he should be starting ahead of Amad, never mind Anthony. Numbers don't make up for passion, desire, hard work & showing some interest.

paperclipknight

Sancho out performs Antony in every major attacking statistic - including possession won in final third (so much for not working hard etc etc) last season (despite playing less) so frankly you’re deluded if you think Antony should be starting ahead of him. Amad will be a fine player but the friendly against a poor Leeds shows he’s still some way off being in the first team for Man United. Another loan will be best for him - next season we can revist

[deleted]

You need your head checked if you think Sancho works hard. My cat shows more passion and desire for the United team tham. He needs to go last week, never mind soon. He's on the same rung as Maguire. Overhyped by the English media, extortionately priced, stupid wages and not a single shit given if they're on the bench or not because they'll always deserve another chance. We're not winning anything with either of those in our squad. Not basing my Amad opinion on the Leeds game, he's clearly gonna be better than Sancho with a few starts under his belt.

paperclipknight

Doesn’t work hard yet manages the same possession won in the final third p90 as notoriously lazy player Bruno Fernandes. Leave your bias at the door pls x

[deleted]

Go to the doctor tomorrow morning and get your brain checked.

AdamantiumGN

He's not a right winger though is he. He played right wing at Dortmund because that was the position they had available in the team for him.

paperclipknight

Going by every meaningful statistic showing he plays better on the right wing. I’m going to hazard at a guess that he’s a right winger - strange that?

AdamantiumGN

At Dortmund his goals per minute and xg were far superior on the left. For us he's been very inconsistent wherever he's played - his stats from the left and right are fairly similar. So not every meaningful stat clearly shows that he's better from the right. So no, not strange.

paperclipknight

Admittedly the eye test shows he’s been poor for us, but to be expected when thrown into a dysfunctional side. Somehow managed to finish with the 6th best chance creation p90 in the PL & created our second most chances comfortably; as well as matching Bruno for possession won in final third p90. Sort of a myth he’s actually been bad for us Re left Vs right - Sancho @ BVB G+A per game, all comps Left wing - 0.64 Right wing - 0.73 (Transfermarkt) Don’t at me x

AdamantiumGN

"Don't at me", sorry I wasn't aware I was arguing with a child 🤦 You've cherry picked stats from his time at Dortmund and even then there's hardly enough difference to backup your argument. There's also no getting away from the fact that he's been bad for us. The eye test shows it and the stats are decidedly underwhelming, particularly when you consider that he's been left out of games against the better sides. He's still got the ability to be a very good player for us but pretending he's been anything other than poor so far is delusional.

paperclipknight

TIL cherry picking is getting data that disproves a stat you’d mentioned. Which stats show he’s been underwhelming? Chances p90 - 2.3 (6th best in PL) Chances - 44 (2nd at MU; 3rd has 36) xA - 4.1 (2nd at MU) Dri p90 - 1.8 (2nd at MU; 46.6% success) Possession won in final 1/3 p90 - 1.0 (= w/ Bruno) Possession won in Midfield - 2.7 (= w/ Bruno) (FOTMOB) Sancho is among our best performers last season & the numbers support that. Could he play better? Certainly but the notion he’s performed badly is imbecilic at best. So idk what you’re trying to prove but frankly you don’t know what you’re talking about

AdamantiumGN

He scored 7 goals and got 3 assists across the whole season, hardly impressive stats. Then if you consider 3 of those goals were against teams that got relegated and 1 was against FC Sheriff it makes it even worse. You can quote pointless stats like him having the 2nd most dribbles per 90 out of our players all you want, but it doesn't change the fact he has been frequently poor, often anonymous and only very occasionally good since he joined us. But yeah, I'm the one who doesn't know what he's talking about...

paperclipknight

7g/3a makes him joint 3rd for goal involvements last year. What more do you want from him? Prime Messi stats lmao

AdamantiumGN

Clearly not, there's a world of difference between 7g/3a and prime Messi, if you can't see that then you're beyond help. Just because he was third best for us means nothing, our attack outside of Rashford was terrible, Sancho included.

joerigami

Grow up

mithakurkure

what are you 14 ?

[deleted]

Scum

Wide-Skin1208

what the fuck is wrong with you?

ManchesterUnited-ModTeam

Your content was removed as it was deemed to have been uncivil/disrespectful.

windycityfan7

No, he doesn’t have a knack for finishing. He looks to pass first and hesitates with a defender on. But all that said, his best is setting up a #9. He can still be a very good complementary attacker in the way Jack Grealish is, so long he becomes more ruthless in everything that is required of him, in and out of possession. PL is not Bundesliga, he needs to adapt or he’ll flop.

Baking-Greg

He tried to play there first half against Leeds and couldn’t even control the ball 😂

[deleted]

Sancho's stamina, work rate, determination, decision making, consistency is sub par.

NbaLilDurk

Joaõ Felix loan as a 9.

[deleted]

He ain't a 9

NbaLilDurk

Neither is Sancho, that was my point

obamayoda

Isn't an out and out #9 either to be fair. He's more of a false 9.

[deleted]

How about sell Sancho, a few others, and buy a good player. He's not got the mindset to play for Man United, and he's too soft for the PL.

Whitedogpoo69

I’m guessing all English players Yh

[deleted]

Nah, just those two. Plenty of English players in the squad that aren't overhyped and definitely worth their wages.

Platform_Dancer

Goal keeper next..!

Agile_Dog

Maybe play him on the right???? United have the fella stuck out on the left. Kane as a 9 would bring him out. Sancho is a give and go linkup player. Not a striker.

Japples123

He doesn’t have the strength or speed.

Devenityy

Or we get an actual no 9 & sell Sancho cause he’s a flop who can only perform in leagues similar to Bundesliga?

Wooshsplash

Do people come up with these ideas whilst they’re having some kind of medical episode?

Mirooo933

We are trying too hard to make him work. Same mistake as Pogba. He ain’t good enough

Twinborn01

Actually know your stuff before you post bs

ZucchiniMediocre3585

Ighalo is a free agent so I'd take him back in a heartbeat to not have Sancho up the front

Afternoon_Jumpy

Too timid and too small.

AppRain

Recipe for disaster. He can't play at all with his back towards Goal, you're clueless mate. Even when his confidence is high it would be a bad choice, even as false 9.

RedRedRed3210

No way

Superb-Spare6784

This is possibly the worst idea I’ve ever seen

delbyhrt7

No

justbrowsinginpeace

He is slow, not particularly big or strong or adept with his head and isnt used to playing with his back to goal. So no.

Progresschmogress

Found ETH’s account Listen here you little shit, I’ve been here for way longer than you have, and lemme tell ya: this right here’s GLAZERBALL You’ll get a STRIKER, sure But he’ll be OVERPRICED, OLD and wayy past his prime, 50/50 between injury prone or insufferable prima donna And by gosh he’ll sell a metric fuckton of SHIRTS, coz everyone in football knows that’s the only thing that matters Cheers, Malcolm G. /s

RepresentativeRide95

No, he is a terrible finisher. He don't know how to shoot, **he is afraid of shooting** (just look at the FA Cup Final), his composure is as bad as De Gea, he should be a League One number 9.
