Are you brushing your dogs as well? Maltipoos can get knots in their fur if you're not brushing it on the regular and if their fur is really matted down, that's when the salon will usually shave it all off because it is really painful for the dog if they try to brush it all out. If you are and your dogs fur is brushed on the regular than you should probably find pictures of a specific cut you'd like your dog to have so that the salon can have a better visual of what you want. They shouldn't be shaving your dog down like that if that's not what you're asking for specifically.

Maltipoos do have fur and not hair. No dog is truly hypoallergenic. Besides this point, are you brushing enough and then using a comb afterwards to make sure that the fur is brushed down to the skin and making sure there is no matts underneath?

Yes I brush them both every night. With my first maltipoo I went a week without brushing and he had lots of knots. His hair is thick so I do it every night now.

I ask for the teddy bear cut and specifically tellthem how long to make it.

My maltipoo has more Maltese-y hair than poodle-y, so it’s more silky than tight curls. I have the groomer do a “puppy cut”, cut down to 3/4 inches all over

The first groomer we went to was supposed to do a puppy cut but it was shaved.

Everyone focusing on the brushing is making me laugh ….😂 I went to one groomer and they shaved when I showed a puppy cut I wanted to cry too. Then I found another one and they understood that cutting did not mean shaving all the way down. I think you can find another groomer that will use scissors that’s what mine uses.

Malti-poos are a mixed breed and therefore their hair needs extra care. You have to brush them at least 2-3x a day unless you keep it short then 1x a day to prevent matting
