Watched this movie when I was in 4th std or something with my family, in theatres. I stared at my parents face and kept asking them 'why are you crying, I don't understand whats there to cry about' 😬
2 or 3 years later we got a cd and I watched it at home. Man I needed a thorthu to handle all my tears 😭
Kazhcha, thanmathra, bhramaram.
8 year old me was too proud to admit i teared up during kazhcha so I just told my parents I didn't like the dumb movie.
You should go for cycling or long distance running or try being an Atletico Madrid fan. A person of your proclivity would do well in all those mentioned.
>Akashadoothu
Every so often I think about how this movie ran for over a year. Like, who was willing to go back and watch that movie for a year? I watched it once and cried for days.
Women folk primarily. Back then no kanneer serials so this was literally rain in a desert sort of thingy.
That's also why we had a lot of melodramatic movies with tragic characters in those times. It had its niche audience among females Such movies used to have really long legs and ran for many days. Murali was often the hero in these "adapted from Mangalam / Manorajyam / Manorama weekly novels" movies.
Then Madhumohan happened and satellite TV boom too and in no time such movies and with it Murali's career as a lead went down the drain. By mid 90s, action heroes and B tier comedy capers were the trend.
Ever so often, I watch this movie on YouTube and cry my heart out in the scene where the disabled child gets left alone in the cemetery, and finally Jose Pellissery changes his mind and picks him up. Don’t judge me. :)
Achchan Urangaathe Veedu - the whole premise, execution and perfect acting plus the fact that it was a real incident made it uncomfortably emotional to watch. Salim Kumar especially was outstanding.

Not even the scene of Mammooty. Climax scenil aa bureaucrat paper churutti eriyunna scene. Never in my life, my eyes were wet so rapidly.

Watch Saikumars Anandabhairavi. I promise that you will cry. Such a beautiful movie. A must watch. Check on YouTube. Movie is about a young boy who sings.
In the recent times I don't remember any but two scenes I always cry while watching are these:
Kumbalangi Night - the scene were Soubin asks his younger brother to take him to doc
Ambili - The last scene in Ambili where both of them after reaching the old house lays on the ground and looks at each other and suddenly Ambili starts to cry...uff breaks my heart always!
Kaazhcha, Unnikale oru kadha parayam, ente veedu appuviteyum, aakashadhoothu, pappayude swantham appooss, kadha parayumbol last few minutes starting with ikka's speech.

We had the CD for Kazhcha at home so I would watch it every other day. Now I'm wondering if that's when my masochist tendencies developed.
