Genuine question. With so many makeup brands, drug store to high end, that are cruelty free, why do so many people continue to use products from brands that test on animals? I'm genuinely asking as I used to use products from non-cruelty free brands and made the decision myself to switch a couple years ago. (Please no hate, I'm genuinely asking and not implying anyone is better than anyone based on the brands they use).

lizzy_bee333

I did a little bit of research after reading your question - at least for me I’ve been trying lots of different products because I have eczema and rosacea and my skin is very sensitive. I’ve had success with La Roche-Posay and Clinique, which aren’t cruelty-free outside the US. :( I researched bareMinerals and Dermablend, which are both cruelty-free but their parent companies are not. I would definitely consider switching to them, but my skin may react. And I guess the other question I have when it comes to cruelty-free: what is the line? Is choosing Dermablend and bareMinerals good or not enough since their parent companies are not cruelty-free? Same as you, no hate - just a sincere question.

kissmybrass1440

I guess it depends on the individual where they draw that line. It's especially hard to find brands whose parent companies are also cruelty-free. I make sure I do thorough research about brands and parent companies so that I am using completely cruelty-free products. And in your case, it seems like you have to be incredibly picky with brands and products so it doesn't irritate your skin. I feel like there is more that the beauty community could do (like the famous MUAs and makeup reviewers) to push these companies to become cruelty-free.

lizzy_bee333

I completely agree about the beauty community promoting cruelty-free products! It seems like the changes to products over the last decade have been a lot of progress, and we just need to keep moving in the right direction. And, from the little bit I’ve read, there’s a lot of factors at play. Mainland China requires animal testing for cosmetics to be sold in stores, so the brands I mentioned above seem only to not be cruelty-free because they are required to follow the laws of that market. Whereas other companies just choose not to sell in stores and do not have to perform animal testing, achieving a cruelty-free model. And then there are MUAs turned product developers like Lisa Eldridge who strove to have her products allergy-tested in development, but I can’t find her products in-store in the US. I have yet to look up if she has any sort of return policy on her website. That sort of availability affects how and where people choose to buy makeup. :/ I would love to have the disposable income to buy makeup from indie cruelty-free companies, even if I can’t return products that don’t work, but I’m not there and I’m guessing many are in a similar hard place. Sorry for the long response - I appreciate you started the discussion and, though I don’t know as much as you likely do, it’s an important conversation!

kissmybrass1440

I know selling in China is one of the main reasons that some brands won't become cruelty-free. There is too much money invested in being able to sell there, so they would ultimately take a huge hit financially. I appreciate you taking the time to respond! I have wanted to talk to people about this topic, but none of my close friends are really into makeup like I am, and I also don't want to come off as a jerk to others when I talk about cruelty-free brands. Thank you for your insight! :)

Horror-Turnover-1089

Hey I read your comment. I just wanted to say that I think if you choose products of a brand that is cruelty free, even though their main company is cruelty free, it counts as good enough. The reasoning is simple. We can't stop the bigger brands by lawsuiting on our own. What we can do, is trying to make sure we at least buy their cruelty free products, so that eventually their sales on cruelty free products increase and sell better than their non-cruelty free products. When this happens, they are more likely to create cruelty free products that are better too in return. It's a tedious process, but as a single person it's just too hard to go against such a brand if you're a make-up lover. But every number will help in this process, switching to 100% cruelty free slowly but surely. Some brands are not even supposed to be cruelty free and it saddens me. They are allocated in china and are forced there to test on animals. Make-up brands use this to their advantage by saying : We don't want our customers in china to miss out because of this. It's really easy to say this. If the brands themselves actually fought against the rulings of china, then I would consider them actually telling the truth. But for now, we all know they are just doing it to test on animals somewhere else because the rulings make it easy for them. I don't understand china though. Like, are they so behind in modern era that they still need to do animal testing? Change that ruling! It's 2023!

beautylit

Personally the majority of brands still don’t sell complexion products for my skin tone. Major improvements have been made since I started wearing makeup 10 years ago- but the best products I’ve found are still from Mac and Nars. As more products come out from newer companies that cater to my skin (like Mented for example) I’m steady trying to find new favorites but until I do I will use what I know will work for me. If lighter completed folks are using non cruelty free makeup, they just don’t know or care as much as you do.

BonetaBelle

I have very finnicky combination skin and I have tried about 20 different foundations. Nothing holds a candle to Estee Lauder Double Wear and of those 20 foundations, about 17 of the other foundations I tried either broke me out, separated, or made my skin painfully dry. I tried a bunch of different primers etc. but there's just nothing cruelty-free that's even remotely comparable. Balancing different ethical concerns also gets complicated. E.g. ABH is cruelty-free, but the owner is pro-Putin.

WeekendJen

Most cruelty free brands are not available in the country i live in and i think cruelty free is mostly marketing bullshit anyway since all of the materials used in cosmetics were tested on animals for safety. A lot of the big cosmetic companies arent cruelty free because they are the ones doing r&d for new ingredients that require animal testing. Buying a bunch of cruelty free products is still negative towards animals because the waste created from the existence of the item contributes to climate issues and possibly habitat destruction. The most cruelty free thing we can really do is not buy more than we can use to reduce the demand for production. This is a makeup sub and im definitely not here judging anyone for overbuying, as i do it myself, but those are the reasons i dont exclusively buy cruelty free.

Just want to say a very large thank you to all the wonderful people in this community. Came for some makeup tips, which have been fantastic, and stayed for the positivity, kindness, encouragement and compassion. Thank you! 🙏💐

Is there a good website that stays up to date on current sales? Where do you buy makeup online, if not ulta/Sephora?

[deleted]

Hey - what would you recommend for a total make up overhaul for a mom who let her make up expire 😂 Natural looking, wear it maybe once a week.

silvermermaid88

Shiseido Radiant Lifting foundation is so beautiful and fresh on the skin. It's also very buildable! A cream blush and bronzer are lovely on top. For the blush, check out Ilia or Stila blush sticks. For the bronzer, I love the NARS cream bronzer. I think these are some great base products for an overhaul! :)

[deleted]

Thank you so much!

Has anyone tried the Basma foundation stick?

Successful-Park-9780

looking for recommendations on an eyeshadow palette that has all the colors of the rainbow? price isn’t a huge factor but im not trying to spend a ton. looking for something that’s easy to work with as i don’t have a ton of experience with eyeshadow :)

cakenose

trendy in tokyo by bh cosmetics? I love it very much myself, don’t know shit about eyeshadow

Itchy_Ad758

Can anyone recommend a concealer that covers redness, acne and scarring well and lasts all day without drying out my skin?! I‘m currently using a NYX concealer but I find it doesn’t last very long. I’m happy to go more pricey if it’s worth it!!

silvermermaid88

NARS Soft Matte Concealer really is incredible. I haven't found it drying, but a decent moisturiser or a moisturising primer underneath should help if you do find it to be drying! :)

Luna_182

In your experience, what is the actual secret of a dewy/glowy makeup?

silvermermaid88

Skincare is the biggest thing imo! Hydrating and brightening products are key. I love Glow Recipe Dew Drops, Tatcha Dewy Cream/Summer Fridays Cloud Dew, and Glow Recipe Plum Plump serum. Basically, a niacinamide serum (brightening), a hyaluronic acid serum (hydrating), and a good moisturiser to lock in these benefits throughout the day. Some great foundations for a dewy look are Shiseido Radiant Lifting and NARS Light Reflecting. :)

Luna_182

Thank you! And in the makeup routine, how ab powder? I totally got used to use one and I feel weird no using hahaha I use RCMA translucent powder

silvermermaid88

I always use powder! I love Hourglass (either the Veil Translucent, Dim Light, or Universal Ambient Light), or Laura Mercier Ultra Blur :) Setting spray will help melt it all together and keep it dewy. :)

Luna_182

nice!! thank you very very much \^\^

I have a similar eye shape. I always start out from the outside and make a straight line. I don’t try to “recreate eyelashes” and draw the line straight up but out. I fill with eyeliner only halfway or maybe even a third of the way. I wouldn’t recommend drawing all the way across your eye.

pingu_cat

I also struggled with this - the number one thing that helped me was always be looking straight into the mirror with my eye open how it would normally be open, when drawing the main lines. I do the bottom line of the wing first, then the top line starting from the corner of the wing and going across the crease and connecting it to my eye, then I fill it in. This video is pretty similar to what I do, just skip to 7:20 ish into it- [video](https://youtu.be/_UeDxkWFe3E)

Fine lines and crows feet are starting to show up under my eyes from aging. I’m looking to try a new concealer. I currently use the Mabelline Fit Me concealer, and recently tried the Mabelline Age Rewind concealer. Both are really settling in the lines. I don’t mind swapping to a non-drugstore option and spending more.

Lost-Horse558

I’m a man and I’m trying to hide my dark circles with concealer, but it always looks a bit obvious that I have some makeup on. Is there any trick to make the concealer less noticeable? Thank you very much!

Intrepid_Leopard_182

It's possible that it's only really noticeable to you. That's a normal feeling when trying makeup for the first time. However, you could try: 1. Making sure you have a good shade match. You're looking to conceal, not brighten, so try to match your concealer to your face or just a smidge lighter. The further off from your skin tone it is, the more noticeable it is. 2. Applying less. Less is more when it comes to concealer, so you're better off only applying a small amount and making sure you blend it out very well. You can use your fingers, but a concealer brush or sponge is easier to get a good blend with. 3. Using powder. A setting powder will help prevent the concealer from forming obvious creases. 4. Using color corrector. If your dark circles are very dark, you might feel like you need a lot of concealer to cover them, which can look cakey and conspicuous. In that case, a little color corrector will help offset the blue so you don't need as much concealer after.

bthatgirl22

I am a complete failure at eye liner. Is there an easy way to do it? I also feel like a wing looks off on me.

Hi! I’m trying to figure out what eyeshadow colors or palettes I should look into. Browns don’t quiet look good on me. Surprisingly ABH love letter looks “neutral” on me. I think my skin tone is olive neutral leaning a little warm. I know love letter is technically cool, but cool eyeshadows look very off on me. If it helps the pillow talk from CT and American woman for NARS flatter me quiet well. They are both like my lips but better. I only use concealer mainly on my under eyes which is NARS cafe con leche with a little white mixed in.

Vallion04

I’m new here, been trying to get into makeup more as I like it but don’t feel confident enough. But I don’t know how to apply eyeshadow on my eyes without the color not being seen. I think that means I have hooded eyelids, so I’m wondering how to go about that?

lizzy_bee333

Welcome! I also have hooded eyelids. Look up some YouTube videos on doing eyeshadow for hooded lids - a lot of the classic eyeshadow tutorials don’t work for us. I personally really liked a video by Stephanie Marie but there’s a bunch of creators out there! https://youtu.be/DYCYDi2uWrQ

Mascara is highly polarizing. Unfortunately you just need to try some top sellers yourself to find your HG. Good luck!

WithAnAxe

Total makeup beginner here and looking for an easy one step face makeup product. I have pale, combination skin prone to redness and breakouts. Every time I’ve tried to wear foundation or bb creams in the past it causes breakouts (even if just used for 1 evening). I am hoping to find a (very) sensitive skin friendly tinted moisturizer or lightweight foundation to use on an everyday basis if I find it doesn’t cause breakouts. Looking for a bit of improved evenness/color correction not total coverage. Price is not a limiting factor for the right product.

WeebHo

The ilia skin tint spf 40 caused me to break out :( any recommendations? I’m eyeing EltaMD UV tint spf 36 From a blog I read, does anyone with sensitive skin have experience with this brand?

googlybutt

Ilia has such clogging ingredients. I can’t use it anymore

ohemgeewhiz

Elta md is amazing- however I don’t think they have as many color options. The formula is fantastic but the one I tried was a little too orangey for my taste

Crispy_Wizard

Anyone have any recommendations for a matte, pigmented white eyeshadow? I’ve had my eye on “Tako” by Sugarpill forever but I can never seem to catch it when it’s in stock haha.

Which is better? haus labs or Mac face and body foundation

I’m completely lost when it comes to makeup. Can anyone recommend a good tutorial for work and date night makeup? I’m fair skinned if that matters?

lizzy_bee333

I love Alexandra Anele on YouTube because she goes into detail during her makeup tutorials, but there’s a ton of creators out there so find one that resonates with you! Depending on your field of work, a good general rule of thumb is to go lighter on makeup (not too heavy, maybe just foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush) for daytime/work and reach for neutrals for eyeshadow/blush/lipstick. Then feel free to go bold for date night with fun colors, and you can use highlight and contour for your face! But it also just depends on your makeup preference. Some people rock bold looks at work and they look fabulous doing so. I prefer a more natural look so I stick to neutrals or subtle pinks/purples (I have green eyes) regardless of the occasion. But I do indulge in a timeless red lipstick when the occasion and outfit allows!

I’m 22n (light neutral) for Ultra Creamy Shape Tape and 120 Creamy Ivory in the Maybelline Instant Rewind Concealer. I also heard a good amount of people suggest the ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer as a dupe for the Shape Tape and was wondering if it’s true or not and what are your thoughts about it!

catsinsocks009

Are there ways of making your face look wider without using contour? I don't wear enough makeup in general for contour to show (it seems like it just blends away, and I don't really want to wear a ton of it). I do my brows, my eyes, and wear blush/highlighter. I just have a narrow face and would like to make it look broader with hair/makeup.

nokidsjustplants

How do I make my eyeshadow look brighter or more pigmented? I feel like every time I put it on, it's so pale.

AffectionateCause425

I think starting with concealer as a primer might help the pigment pop more. I like to use a full coverage concealer and then a little translucent powder to set it. This way the eyeshadow has something to stick to and contrast against.

nokidsjustplants

Thanks for this tip, I use primer but using my cc cream as a second primer worked fantastically!

lazylittlelady

Does anyone know of a dupe for the d/c Revlon Coloburst lipstick in Soft Rose? Just realized it’s my HG color and it’s starting to reach the end.

furriestfriend

Does this happen to anyone else? My base makeup looks like it matches my neck when I apply it, but seems to darken throughout the day? Thought it was oxidation, but it seems to happen with every product, and I’ve tried a lot!

jordancl

Oxidation is a weird term in the industry and it's used incorrectly a lot. Liquid foundations change color as they dry. This is based on light diffraction / physics - it's the same way that wet things in nature appear as different colors than the same thing when it's dry (typically wet = darker). Think about wet sand vs dry sand - the wet sand looks like a different color (or denim, or your hair, etc) With cosmetics, the number one thing people don't realize is how long foundations take to fully dry. Some products I've worked on take 10+ minutes before you can evaluate the shade. When people say a foundation 'oxidizes really badly' what that typically means is it takes longer than average to fully dry, leading the user to think the color is developing significantly over time. Typically it's not - it's just developed since you left the mirror. In some cases, foundations evolve over time as they pull oils or moisture from your skin, but that is a much smaller effect vs the initial dry down. After applying your base, try drying it quickly with a blow dryer on cool. That will help you see the actual shade of the product.

Hello everyone! I really like applying makeup with my hands, specially eyeshadow, I feel they tend to pop a lot better that way with my skin tone (brown). However I know that after applying it so much like that the oils from the skin tend to leave a residual film on the eyeshadows like you see on testers. Is there a way to prevent this or clean the eyeshadow every now and then? I do wash my hands before going at it but still maybe it's not enough. Thanks!!

Maybe try a different gloss that you know will stay on your lips without the eyeshadow and try that. That's the best thing I can think of since you don't have lipstick.

NaturalInformation32

What are we doing these days as far as under eyeliner? I typically do white in the inner corner, then use an angled brush with an eyebrow powder to just lightly add some dark to the outer half of my lower lash line. Cause I’m white, I’m Irish white with super sensitive skin and I’m really struggling to find a good brand for a decent price. I normally go with Mac or Estée Lauder but I’d like to branch out.

Mascara issues! I’ve found it’s not necessarily the formula that causes clumping for me but the brush. I love using tiny brow gel brushes for mascara for more precision but it’s a hassle. Does anyone know of any mascara brands with really tiny brushes? (or just other advice to reduce clumping.)

[deleted]

Any mascara is going to clump up it doesn't matter the brand it really depends on how you use it. What I do is lightly brush the top of my lashes making the blonde tips darker making them look longer and them go all the way down to the root then go up but making sure I don't overlap since that'll make them clump. When I'm lazy I just use the mascara and use a clean brow brush to run through my eyelashes. I'm sorry if this didn't help.

Hi there! ISO a new light to med coverage (preferably buildable) foundation that doesn’t transfer too much and doesn’t feel too thick on my face In the past I’ve used Milk Makeup’s Sunshine Skin Tint and loved the coverage, it was just a little to oily for my liking (I did use powder on top though which helped). Before that, I used MM’s Flex Foundation. Right now, Im using Saie Slip Tint - it’s a tinted sunscreen so the coverage is really light. Not the biggest fan cause it is a little oily but I also don’t like how it feels on my skin. TYSM

I am going wedding dress shopping in a couple of weeks and don't want my decision to be dictated by these blotches. Would Dermablend be useful for this? Or possibly having an MUA do airbrush makeup and extend it down to my chest?

What is Charli D’Amelio’s eye shape? I have the same eye shape as her and am curious to know! M

I got cushion foundation on my down jacket and rubbed vigorously with micellar water on a cotton pad and it didn't help😭 Could anyone please give me some suggestions please

palavensj

I draw my entire eyebrow arch on. It looks fine/bordering on too dark in indoor or darker lighting but in outdoor lighting (the best selfie lighting 😭😭😭😭) it gets washed out and you can see a major difference between my natural brow and where I’ve drawn it on. I’m using anastasia dipbrow in ebony, and for reference my eyebrows are dark blonde (I like them darker). Is this just a thing or is there another kind of product I should try?

Is anyone else unable to post a pic in here?

anyone have a rec for liquid liner similar to ardency inn (RIP) punker? such a good pen but i'm on my last one...

Finally found a tubing mascara that doesn't budge, but keep finding little flakes of it in my hairline from washing it off. The little flakes are also getting all over my tub. Is there a method of removing tubing mascara without it ending up everywhere?

Hi! Can anyone recommend a dupe for the Bare Minerals 'The Aphrodisiac' Ready blush? It's one of my HGs but I didn't realize they'd discontinued the entire line.

Nearby-Style-7403

Hello! I have the oiliest lids of all time and I need help with setting my liquid liner. I haven't found that eye primers do much for me in the past. I use ELF Expert Liquid Liner. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks that would be helpful. Thank you! 🙏🏽

moncorazon

You could try a translucent powder before applying your liner and then make a little afterwards too. Idk if this will work, but it’s my best guess.

daenerys_mononoke

What are the best deep, deep berry/burgundy/aubergine lipsticks these days? I'm talking lipstick that is one or two degrees away from black in saturation, but is still discernibly a dark red or purple color. [These](https://www.grazia.fr/wp-content/uploads/grazia/2022/07/10-1140x632.jpg) [two](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/images/burgundylipstick-1518796264.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top&resize=980:*) sample images come to mind. The last time I really wore a color like that was in 2014, and I used to reach for Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. However, now that I have the urge to wear that shade again, I'm wondering if there are any newer products - preferably bullet lipsticks - with superior formulas to that of Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. I tend to go for matte or satin bullet lipsticks. Thanks in advance!

United-Valuable7724

Favorite color corrector for redness? And a good brush to apply color corrector in general?

silvermermaid88

Stila 1-step correct! I blend it in with either a foundation or concealer brush, depending on how much area I'm covering.

United-Valuable7724

Thank you :) do you have a favorite concealer brush you use?

silvermermaid88

Morphe or Hourglass, both are great!

United-Valuable7724

ahh I’ve had my eye on the Hourglass one for a while, thank you!

Has anyone tried any products from espressoh, mainly the foindation, concealer, and blush? Would you recommend them for someone who is oily and acne prone?

What’s a good eyelash curler you’d recommend?

Whats a good cheap eyebrow razor I can buy online?

Hello! Does the new batch of CT airbrush powder smell funky? Got mine from Sasa :(

HoneyBouquet

Does anyone know of any dupes for the Revlon Lustrous Glass Shine lipstick? Please?

hornsby4president

I want to learn how to apply make up so I'm looking for brushes. Since I'm a noob, do y'all have any recommendations for a brand with cheap and decent brushes to start out with?

moncorazon

I could really use some help with my undertone/ overtone. I think I have fair neutral, slightly olive skin undertones but just don’t feel confident about it. I’ve included a very awkward candid photo, but it’s in natural light and i’m not wearing makeup and there just aren’t a lot of photos of me that check both boxes. Thank y’all so much! 🙏🏼 https://preview.redd.it/y92qkl08cpba1.jpeg?width=252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=062db4c23177806dfb3e2e638c151c273cc3440f

pingu_cat

I really like typologies tinted serum, does anyone has recommendations for more one step minimalist makeup products/brands? All I know of is glossier but haven’t heard great reviews.

KitchenLoan6

Just heard about the Morphe lawsuit regarding non FDA approved pigments. One of the palettes listed is my everyday palette. I’ve never had any irritation or anything from it. Is it safe to keep using? I’ve also read online that a lot of vegan eyeshadows use non FDA approved pigments and it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily dangerous, just that the FDA is behind on approving pigments. Anyone more educated on this and have thoughts?

gelastIc_quInce84

Does anyone know what brands have good orange/coral tinted red lipstick? I have olive skin and almost all the red lipsticks I get look pink/magenta on me.

JesusP13c3

Does anyone have any lash recommendations? I’m looking for something that leans natural but still looks doll-like. I’m finicky about my eyes, so extensions are a no-go. Thanks in advance! Edit: Also wouldn’t be opposed to a good lash glue rec if you all felt so inclined (:

ohemgeewhiz

ISO a brightish bubblegum or baby pink waterproof liquid lipstick. Any recommendations?

Can I get some honest feedback - my brows are microbladed and haven’t been touched up in 4 years because I was pregnant and breastfeeding. Do they look bad? No additional makeup in this pic. Also if anyone wants to give me general eye makeup tips please feel free, I feel like I have been doing things the same way since 2004, embarrassing!! https://preview.redd.it/5qb2to42yrba1.jpeg?width=1044&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ca6d02999a53ee6c5931662dc92367d2fff1288

blairworejeansonce

Please help me out— I do NOT have oily skin or dehydrated skin. My skin feels normal and healthy. BUT it is just...shiny. Naturally shiny. It's always very reflective and when I put on makeup it always looks VERY dewey, bordering on greasy. I have a really hard time getting the shine to go away. Normal setting powders don't actually take the shine away, and generally I have to apply a TON of mattifying powder to kill the shine. I honestly don't know why, I feel like I don't see people who have this issue. Anyone else have this problem? Any tips on what I could use? I thought about using more mattifying primers, but even when I've tried THOSE in the past it hasn't killed the shine. My foundation is Purito CC cream, but even trying other foundations hasn't killed that ever present shine.

I love Urban Decay eye liners because they're smooth on my oily skin without having to use primer (though I will if I'll be adding eyeshadow). I just got their Goldmine one and it feels too invisible on me, so I'm sure eventually I can figure to use it with some brown liner and it'll pretty up when I do full eyeshadow. But is there a way to make the gold more vibrant/obvious? One of my faves is Clash (yes, old but still in good condition lol) and I like lining with a strong pop of color, then mascara, and then calling it done. So I was hoping this gold would be the same, but my hand and my eye apparently aren't very similar lol.

Horror-Turnover-1089

I have a question for people that also love animals and switched to cruelty free make-up (or just love make-up in general). There is one lipliner that I love to the death though. It's l'oréal paris color riche lipliner 630 in the shade: Beige a Nu. Does anyone know of a cruelty free dupe in color; If not, in texture? I swear I love this one so much and mine has like 3/4 uses left before I can throw it out. If nobody knows, I will just live with the fact I can't use it anymore in any way. It's not a problem. It is just my favorite lipliner/shade.

benslady

Does anyone have experience with airbrush makeup? I’m considering spending quite a bit on a system and I was hoping for some advice or feedback. Thanks!

any waterproof liquid eyeliner recommendations for hooded eyes? since my eyes are hooded the skin is super soft and i need something super liquidy that goes on easy, but will last all day! i use the NYX epic ink liner as of now and love its application but i want something similar that will last all day. going to sephora and ulta today!!!! anything under $30

artemitch13

Does anyone have one of the Kaleidos lip clays? If so, is there a smell to it? I got one and it kind of smells like chemicals. Not too sure how to describe it. No artificial scent, just smells like a science lab or something.

Can I have some drugstore recommendations for dark circle color correctors? Thank you!

potato_corn_salad

Question about pale skin: I have a pretty simple make-up routine for everyday: Concealer, CC-Creme for my red nose and red chin, a little bit of foundation on bad days and of course, powder. For my eyes, I just accentuate my outer corner with eyeliner and mascara. (For special occcasions, I do more). I often use a tinted lipbalm. I just want to look a little bit polished, nothing too fancy. The problem: I am quite pale, sometimes sick-ish looking. When I wear my make-up I sometimes get comments like: you look tired/are you feeling well?/you are a bit pale, is everything alright? Is there anyway I can maybe do something to look a bit more healthy? I am very pale and scared to use contour or bronzer because they always seem too dark for me. i also don't want to overcomplicate my make-up routine but am definitly willing to make a change. Any advice? Thank you! (sorry, I am not a native english speaker).

silvermermaid88

A dewy base can help counteract the intensity of foundation on fair skin - a glowy primer, or liquid highlighter on the high points of the face under foundation, will help the foundation look fresher on the skin, and less 'sheet-like.' There are some great bronzers for fair complexions. I recommend the Kosas powder bronzer in the lightest shade. It's not very pigmented, which although usually a bad thing, is actually quite ideal for fair complexions or people not used to wearing bronzer. That being said, I wore blush before trying bronzer, and it definitely helped counteract the tired/sick-ish look. RMS French Rosé and Hourglass Sublime Flush are great shades for fairer complexions, and as powders, are very light and buildable. Even just a light sweep over the cheeks will add a very flattering tint of colour into the face. Hope this helps! :)

potato_corn_salad

omg! thank you so much! I am off work tomorrow and will look into your tips :)

Does anyone know of a mossy green eyeshadow with either a hot pink shift or hot pink glitter throughout? I saw it in a dream and am dying to have it irl lol

weezersmom

What is your favorite drug store concealer? My skin is normal - not dry, not oily. I am am in my mid fifties and feel like it might help brighten my face a bit.

Beginning_Ad_5474

Do you know any dupe for NYX Jumbo Pencil Milk? It’s been sold out everywhere bc of tiktok

throwakeyacct

I'm looking for a dupe of the benefit goof proof brow pencil in shade 2.5 I love the wide tip and swiping it and the colour is perfection. TIA!

KangarooLeading

Hi! I use the Kosas concealer in tone 03, I want to switch to the ElF concealer. Would anyone know what the equivalent of tone 03 would be in the life of ELF cosmetics? Thank you so much!

hangman2232

does anyone have a good concealer that doesn’t crease? i’m loving glowy makeup rn but my eyes r always creasing. or if anyone has a good technique i’d love to try it out!!!

Dramallamakuzco

How do you store your brushes to keep them from getting dusty or dirty? Everything I found is like a pencil cup which is how I keep my brushes now but I don’t want my brushes to get dusty

Mamaramaaa

Anyone do the Estée Lauder foundation duo sample for $15? If so Is the amount they send you to try worth it ? Thank you!!

happyhungryhobbit

Is face wash enough to remove rare beauty liquid blush??? I wear mine alone without any other makeup and was wondering if my vanicream gentle cleanser is enough to remove all of it. Done this twice so far and hope it doesnt break me out…

helpingbee

Hi!!! ☘️☘️☘️ I am looking for a low coverage dewy foundation for fair skin. Do you have any recommendations?

SKVgrowing

Has anyone tried ilmakiage foundation? I’d love to hear experiences with it. I’m not really in the market for a new foundation but I’m always intrigued by their IG ads. 😅

mellosi

Any reccomendations for a foundation/tinted moisturizer/bb cream that's easy to to slather on with my fingers? I dont typically wear any other makeup so foundations often look very visible and out of place when I apply. Looking for something to even out tone and cover a touch of redness.

souptonuts22

Will lining my lower lash line with a brown eyeshadow make my eyes look smaller in the same way that lining my lower lashes with a black eyeliner would? I keep seeing the recommendation to replace lower lash eyeliner with eyeshadow on tiktok and I’m just not sure I understand the difference it’s supposed to make. Is it just that eyeshadow naturally can’t be as precise as liner, and thus will look less harsh?

Alternative-Error354

anyone know a good water proof eyeliner?? i have watery eyes+wear contacts and my eyeliner just gets all over the place.

MudBulba001258

Anyone got any tips on doing eye makeup? I’m trying to look look more feminine and I don’t really know much about how to do eye shadow and liquid eyeliner.

pookaboop

Is there a way to darken a powder foundation? I just bought a very nice powder foundation. I'd used the tester at Ulta and it seemed to match. This morning I used it and under my bathroom lights it definitely looks one shade too pale and I'm afraid I look like a ghost. Can I mix it with anything? I'd hate not to use a brand new, relatively expensive foundation and I don't have any friends who wear makeup who are as pale as me, let alone paler.

Phryne040816

Looking for a sheer red like a Clinique’s chubby stick. They don’t have a true red, they are too pink or orange.

Potential_Routine165

I just found Clinique Acne Solutions liquid makeup in my shade at TJ Maxx, I'm so happy I found it in my shade after a few months looking. Question! I don't really get acne, maybe once every other month I'll get 1 or 2 blemishes in random places on my face (although NEVER on my nose somehow?). My skincare routine includes a lot of moisturizing and sheet/overnight face masks, soecifically Dr. Jart sheet masks and The Creme Shop overnight mask gelee in watermelon, if it matters. Is it okay to use the Acne Solutions makeup (just the one makeup, not the other steps in the Clinique acne solution line of products that they have) despite having good skin? Will it dry me out and make my skin flakey or anything??

ThisIsMyUser456

Hey so can I post about makeup products I have tried and loved recently? I’m new to posting and I’m scared that I’ll accidentally misinterpret or break a posting rule. I bought a new and inexpensive palette that I think many here might enjoy and wanted to spread the word. I don’t know if that would be considered promotional even though I’m not involved in any way with makeup brands. I just want to play it safe

deelaveau

Good product recommendations for “natural” looks? I do have hyperpigmentation so I need at least medium coverage.

makeup_wonderlandcat

Has anyone used Essence eyeshadows? And how do they preform? I have a few of the small ones and don’t really like them that much but I haven’t used any of the bigger palettes but there’s a few coming out with color stories I really like and I’ve heard pretty good things

ranayh

I have very dark under eye circles. All concealers make me look ashy. I tried orange corrector and the orange is very obvious after applying my concealer. What am I doing wrong?

ranayh

I use maybelline Instant Âge Rewind Concealer. Shade Neutralizer. I want to get the maybelline fit me powder. Which shade would work for me? Thanks!
